Them coming into this episode thinking people hype it up because of humor reasons and not because its the most painfully awkward thing tv has ever aired.
The only two TV episodes I always skip are Scott's Tots, and Jurassic Bark from Futurama (too sad).
That’s why I hate it when people place expectations on reactions. I’m glad this episode is over so I don’t keep seeing dumb comments saying “can’t wait for Scott’s tots”
@thepimp- well that just means you arent a fan of the show. This is by far the most awkward scene in the entire series. Theres a reason 99.9% of ppl that watched the show cant wait to see ppl react to it. Its common sense bud.

All honesty I think David Wallace respects Mike's loyalty and results. Yeah it's frustrating to have to deal with him but he's a legendary salesman and his branch always outperforms the rest of the company and we've seen at least one other manager use his pending promotion for negotiating a position with a different company which Mike would never do so It's like a cost-benefit thing: yeah you get rid of the well-intentioned socially awkward guy that causes constant headaches but is it worth losing all the money he brings in to the company and replace him with someone who will probably try to cut a deal with your competition behind your back

Michael always like that. Once he gets a little bit of praise he can't control himself. Just like when he said he was going to do a 45 day plan to get the company back on track. He had no idea what to do but he said he did so he can get that praise.
Stanley's laugh at the beginning gets me on every rewatch.
The laptop fakeout is truly hilarious.
Every time I start thinking that another episode of the Office is cringier than this one, I always remember why it’s the worst when I rewatch it. The sheer level of suspense and dread that is built up to the moment is what makes it far worse than any other cringe moment in the show.

The kids aren't fucked. They are in the same position they would've been except now they have good grades and finished school, and have a diploma. Michael did a massively fucked up thing, but the kids aren't actually in a worse position then they would have been if he didn't promise their college. Like Erin said, some would have dropped out which is far worse than at least having a HSD and like I went into massive debt for college because most people have to anyway.... like college debt is a systemic problem not Michael Scott problem.
Their parents could have been saving money and the kids could have been applying for scholarships. Michael fucked them.
This episode is without a doubt THE hardest one to watch in the entire series. It's actually physically painful to see it. Scott's Tots should come with a viewer warning lol.

I’ve been struggling with unemployment and depression, but everyday I tune into these reactions and they give a sense of peace, comfort and a believable feeling that I’m not alone at least for those 24 mins. Chris is right; Jim could solve a lot of problems by getting rid of Dwight but he obviously likes him. We met Jim's brothers and as the youngest bro I think Jim was the victim of a lot of the pranks he now plays on Dwight. Dwight is the little brother that Jim didn't have.
I'd like to think that Jim's pranks keep him in checks. He'd be an unstoppable monster if Jim didn't prank him every now and then, often in front of the whole office.
I always see all the scams and MLM schemes and wonder who the hell falls for that crap. Thanks to this channel, I saw Pat, and now I understand.

That's what they want you to think now but he's been that way since the inception of this channel. He's just .....idiotic and what's worse they keep on playing into that
It’s not a character or a gimmick. It never has been. You can tell by how the others around him, people who know him, react to him. This is a perfect example of it not being a character. He isn’t that smart.
I think the most obvious plot hole with this episode is that nothing was agreed on in writing. There was no definitive guarantee that Michael was going to or was going to be able to pay for these kids college tuitions. If a random businessman came up to me when I was a little kid 8 years old and told me he'd pay for my college at 18 I wouldn't even know how to react.
It was in the paper though. So kind of in writing but not a contract.

Chris, yes not all of the kids are going to college but they did graduate which is importance. Cause it’s not that they’re just fucked now. They have high school diplomas which is at least something when going into the workforce.

The difference between Dwight's pranks vs Jim is Jim wasn't trying to actively get Dwight fired! Whereas Dwight is just cause Jim's above him even more now.
A lot of people have wondered, after getting a heart attack, and Michael ruining his marriage, why would Stanley keep his job at Dunder Mifflin… this episode answers that question lol

I’ll be honest.. this was great, but we’ve seen them react more physically and absolutely lose their minds to much less cringey / notorious episodes of The Office. Y’know, episodes that snuck up on them. And that’s okay! But let’s not act like we didn’t play a part in that. While they clearly enjoyed this one and cringed quite a bit, you can absolutely tell the incessant comments on Patreon for the past two seasons alluding to this episode and the countdowns on UA-cam clearly affected their expectations, just like it did for “Dinner Party”, and just like it did for the Pein Arc in Naruto, etc..
I understand we’re fans of the Office with the benefit of hindsight and we want to make sure everyone is around for certain episodes.. but more often than not, it just becomes too much. Hype, more often than not, HURTS the experience instead of improving upon it. Though they addressed the hype in the beginning of the video and how they ‘lowered’ their expectations, I do feel the results speak for themselves when compared to other episodes where they had to leave the couch or melted into it lol.
To clarify - This is not at all The Normies fault, and it’s not really the fans fault either… it just happens. Me pointing out that I think the hype affected their experience doesn’t mean anyone did anything wrong or that I’m disappointed etc. just saying… maybe we should let the next big office episode occur naturally.
People kept mentioning this but i don't remember it at all. Just seems like a normal episode to me. I just remember the meme episodes like the "NO GOD PLEASE NO" and "PARKOUR!"😂

This is not the worst. Very bad, but those kids are not "doomed'. They probably can't all go to the school of their choice, but they can get into different schools. My stepmom's job was finding ways to pay for students to pay for her university (Penn State), and there are ways if you work at it and find the right resources.
