I always enjoy your videos and appreciate that you take the time and effort to make them and share your knowledge. It's getting closer to fire-up time on the motor, can't wait!
Thanks for watching as always!
This is pro level editing. Feels like a quality show. Well done
Awesome info as always. I purchased the powerstrokes cylinder heads with o-rings a couple of weeks ago. So, I will be following your lead through your videos as I attempt to install my new 6.0 PP cylinder heads. Thanks, again
Keep us updated on the quality/review once you install them. I’m looking into the KDD icon aluminum o ringed heads but if these are good I might just consider them… thx
The head gaskets that are being used in the PP kit is they MLS head gaskets? I just want to make sure that the right head gaskets are the correct one for the PP o-ring cylinder heads. As always appreciate the knowledge that you provide to the channel.
Let me know how those work out for you... also are the heads cast iron or aluminum? oh one last question lol where did you get them from and cost? Thanks!
How many hours of labor does it take to replace all heads and all bolts?
It depends on your experience level but expect no less than 25 hours to do the job right.
@@InTheShop25hrs? Usually an hour 1/2 to pull cab, an hour to strip the motor down going slow an hour to take the heads down and close to 2 hours of prep, then it’s just reverse. Should be able to have it all done in under 12 hours taking your time.
@@10mm69 my statement stands. To do the job RIGHT 25 hours. Half hour to pull the cab is possible but not taking your time and certainly not on a truck from Newengland.
Clean all parts you touch
Reseal everything including injectors
Replace lifters and pushrods
Replace oil cooler
Clean turbo
Also if you are reassembling as fast as you are disassembling you are not torquing anything or using any care at all. So can it be done in 12 hours? Maybe but you’ll be back in there again and making a post on Facebook saying “I just studded my truck and it’s still venting coolant what else could it be” or “I just studded my truck and now I have no base oil pressure because a lifter failed and wiped out my LPOP”.
@@InTheShop I have one in the shop currently getting KDD heads injectors dp and sp every gasket. Took 3 hours 20 minutes to break down, wasn’t even rushing. Should be done block prep in an hour also add an hour to chase threads then throw it back together. 12 hours was shooting high to take into account a less experienced person. Now granted that’s if everything goes smooth clean tool layout and power tools. up pipes and manifolds will delay it a bit if they’re factory. All I’m waiting on now is titanium exhaust manifold hardwood.
I’ve got a stock 2006 f250 6.0 that needs head gaskets. I plan to stud it, regulated return, and upgrade the heads themselves also. Is there any upgrades that you would recommend while the engine is apart (lifters, pushrods, etc…)?
Lifters and pushrods for sure. The rest should be covered with the heads and studs. Just spend some time and make sure the block prep is done well. That’s the leading cause of repeat headgasket failures.
Great video. Did you go with the heavy duty valve spring heads or just the stock valve spring heads. Also how does the powerstroke product head gasket compare to oem ford or Mahle?
As always this has been a helpful series. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
How do you like those Gator studs?
I have I think same problem where you located in shops?
I’m in Massachusetts
I’m reaeeeeelly glad I’m watching this videos beforehand because I probably would’ve done something incorrect like what you show before installing oil rails, that dowel 👇!!!!! Wow sometimes the little things matter most….
hi, just now reassembling my motor after replacing head gaskets and studs. one question, only 1 set of rockers have a oil passage hole above the pushrod. this is confusing, shouldn't every rocker have a hole? why only one set on the drivers side have holes?
U think Gator stud quality is up there with ARP? Gator studs are definitely price friendly compared to ARP
Amazing video as usual ! Great quality content. Great looking parts as well.
Thanks Justin!
Would you use fel-pro gaskets with the ringed heads?
I personally won’t and I think some head builders say not too. The felpros are good for stock heads though.
@@InTheShop talked with kdd rep and they told me ANY gasket will work including fel-pro. Spoke to a few other shops and they agree with you. Why take a chance on a gasket that might tear under the right conditions. Took a week of digging to get responses from people, they all say it’s a complicated issue. So I’m going with black diamond. Thanks for your input
Great work. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Thank you!
beauty. Interesting to see all the (USA) competitors (heads, studs, etc.) that have products for the 6.0. And that was A LOT of gaskets.
Thank you!
With o ring heads do you have to put wire in the groves of the head or dose the gasket seal it
There is already a wire pressed in.
@@InTheShop ok thanks
@@InTheShop ok thanks
I can't find your 6.7 powerstroke egr delete video.
I don’t have a video for 6.7 EGR delete.
Do you turn the head studs down to the bottom of the threaded hole in the block or do you turn them back a little?
I turn them by hand until they just touch the bottom. No force at all
Glad you got this O-ring installed on the cylinder head of the Ford 6.0 bro
Thanks Luis!
Man i cant wait to See! Im getting a set anyday now..mahle gaskets they want ! i m doin my 05 excursion Cab on! ugg..anyway great channel !! Cant wait to see what my old heads look like ..She wentg finnaly at 165000 with a KC2 was studded by last owneer years ago,,,! well time to losen some engine mounts... Amsoil For me..
Dampner .Dowel hole at 6 Oclock ! Great tip!
Thank you! It’s not a terrible job. It’s just time consuming.
How are those power stroke product heads, holding up? Thinking of getting a set myself.
So far so good. Only a couple thousand miles at most on them but I’ll really be putting them to the test in the spring. Truck is coming back apart for a compound turbo setup and more fuel.
I was thinking about Killdevil heads, but read some bad reviews, so I think I’m gonna go with power stroke, product heads
Kinda going backward here watching these, but awesome none the less! love all your videos. By the way, an old mechanic corrected me, several times, a motor is generally one of the electric variety, an engine is mostly of the internal combustion type. Just like a telephone pole is actually an electric pole that the phone companies added their wires to. Yup have a neighbor who was a lineman. Thanks again.
Haha yup a motor is electric. It’s just one of those things that ends up in the vocabulary. Thanks Steven!
@@InTheShop And it is actually easier to say😁
Excellent video. Top quality.
Thank you!
How are the gator head studs holding up so far?
So far so good and I’ve been hammering on it.
Nice
Ive got a fresh set of heads waiting for me not o-ringed gonna use fel-pros but ive been thinking of o-ring the block instead myself with that kit from summit. Have you ever used the canadian Xotic studs? I bought a set last year supposed to beat ARP at half price
I haven’t tried the xotics yet. I personally would get the heads o-ringed instead of the block. Also a note is that most companies that do o-ring heads recommend not to use felpro gaskets. They are great on non o-ringed heads but don’t work great with the o-rings.
@@InTheShop yeah i kinda already knew that yet i was hoping to hear the opposite but had to hear the facts lol im taking your advice 100%
@@InTheShop have you always used gator studs? I’m going to use xotics on my build. I see elsewhere that they say only arps, in my research, there are still gasket failures with studs, to me it’s in the prep and proper installation.
Yes indeed Awesome! Can not wait for it to be finished!
Getting closer!
Are the heads the same like DK heads?
I haven’t tried the DK heads yet.
Another Awesome Video Brother!!
Thanks Elmer!
Awesome content brother. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
@@InTheShop Yes sir I will always watch your vids. On my second 6.0 so yeah I find your vids helpful.
