I just started junk journaling. And have been collecting a lot of things to do my journals. Now I just discovered something else I need. Maybe a Christmas are present to myself.
Sizzix Big Shot specifically uses pre-made metal dies, which are made to precisely and easily cut one shape again and again. This is a smaller-scale version for artists of the beloved, familiar die cutting technology used in schools and libraries for making letters and decorating bulletin boards. Artists can make and duplicate die cuts for any number of fantastic projects!
How do I use a die that appears to have parts welded together from the factory? It appears one part is in the middle of another for the pattern -wouldn't it cut it out inside the other one, ruining the die cut? Do I need to snip them apart?
We're not exactly sure without looking at the die. If this was a recent purchase from us and you believe there is a problem with the die, the best course of action would be to contact Customer Service and send pictures so they can advise: orders@dickblick.com . You might also want to consult the Sizzix FAQs to see if what you are describing is normal, or if you need help directly from the source. www.sizzix.com/help-center/machines-dies
Some artists report that they can cut thin natural leather with the Sizzix so we think it probably would work, provided the material is not too thick. We recommend checking the maximum specs for thickness and materials before trying it with your machine, however.
Idk why but I followed the instructions, and double checked and did EXACTLY as you did here. But the die cut the shape (same butterfly as you used) not only in the provided card (starter kit) it also created a deep imprint on one of the sandwiching acrylic plates. And try as i might the die is now dull and wont cut, and the imprinted butterfly destroys anything i try to cut cause it either imprints deep or cuts on the material i try to cut.
@@basilhidmari well I called the store and told what happened and they claimed it up was as it should ' but I felt that it couldn’t be right. So I ended up trying a wide variety of methods. What works super well is a self healing mat cut downs to the same size as the cutting plate. it keeps the dies sharp, saves the cutting plates, etc.. Best wishes ;)
If you notice in the video, the butterfly shape shows on hers also. It happens every time you use any of the dies. It doesn’t harm the machine and it seems it’s like this for everyone. It doesn’t mess up the paper projects in any way (at least for me so far).
I just got this couple days ago and I tried using a thinlit die cut. I used the multipurpose.platform and I put the one glass pie e doen then my paper and the did cut then the other glass and tried putting it through but the glass sounded like it was cracking and it left the design pm the glass and not the papet
Really like this video. I want to make cards, but I get overwhelmed quickly. The Cuttlebug videos just aren't as straightforward as this. (I always have CC and the sound off, becuz I have a 4 yr old).
If you want to come join me im starting a channel and it will among other thIngs a a how get started with cardmaking. I just have to get a new camera. mine was unfortunatly Istolen a few days ago when i was attacked, beaten and robbed.
Horrible, got my first cutting machine and and chose the Big Shot. The lowest price but still a lot of money to me. Plates won’t advance at all and tried pushing and still no success. I followed all the directions correctly. Reached out to Joann’s where I bought and they passed the buck to Sizzix. Called the phone number and you can’t reach anyone it just tells you to fill out a form online. Still no response from Sizzix. This is so frustrating and disappointing. Think twice before buying Sizzix!!!!!!
@@staciortiz7220 That's understandable. We do think you should give it a little time though- we don't always get an instant answer from vendors either. @sizzix has their social media channels (including YT) on their site so maybe you can find some helpful information in their posted content
@@staciortiz7220 We think every artist can understand that feeling. Since it wasn't purchased through us we're limited, but we would like for you to get some helpful information. Next week, please reply here with an update and we'll see if we can research further.
