You are an excellent teacher. Most of the time I can’t finish videos because the modulator’s voice is so obnoxious or they bombard you with unending chatter. You, are PERFECT!
I just ordered the Foldaway. I had an electric sizzix vagabond but it died. This new machine will suit me for transport to card crops. Bonus is I can still use my old platforms. Great video. Thankyou
Thanx alot for explanation. I didn't know which one to buy. Now I do and I decided to buy the foldaway, because I don't have much space to store it. I like the way you explained. Best regards Barb
When I was researching die cutting machines, I went with the Big Shot because I felt it had less moving parts that could potentially break. I really love it but ofcourse they all have pros and cons.
When you’re cutting the thin dies, there was an extra thin plate you use for the new foldable machine. What if I want to cut long dies and want to use the big shot long plates. Will this work with the new foldable machine? Does it come with a long thin plate for the sandwich since the new foldable machine require an extra thin plate. This will help me determine if I should purchase the foldable machine. I have some long dies that I would like to use on a foldable machine. Thank you.
I guess with Cricut (Provo Craft) moving away from manual die cutting, that Sizzix is seizing the foldaway die cutting machine, that many of us Cuttlebug users love.
Thanks for the video, it was helpful. I am wondering if all cutting pads that fit the big shot will fit the foldaway? I'd like to purchase the blue set but I want to make sure it will fit through the machine.
I want the Foldaway now. I was only on the fence because I wasn't going all the accessories for the big shot was compatible. So thank you for the informative video. I have many cutting machines all but one are Sizzix. So in the US, the Foldaway has become available. I will star it on my Christmas list that only has this one item😂.
It's arrived and I love it - the cut is so much more precise than the old big shot - now I have discovered craft stash you have become one of my favourite sellers.
l have original big shot , wondering if this would be any better as have trouble with my left arm and shoulder, it looks quite hard to push the platforms in. and does it stick to any table surface as l have a smaller machine that l have to put on to a glass mat and after a couple of uses it comes loose. x
Hi Elaine! The foldaway doesn't stick to the surface unfortunately.. The Cuttlebug does. That would be a good alternative! It's very similar in size and design. If you are having trouble with your shoulder, perhaps an electronic machine would be your best bet? The Gemini or Sizzix Express are good options. No cranking required! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this, I just wasnt sure about the foldaway, but you have put my mind at rest. :) I'm just starting out with paper crafting so I need all the information I can. :)
Hi Jeanette, thanks for comparing those two machines. :) I am looking at my first machine. I have a question: Have you heard of the Diamond Marquise die cutter? It is a small manual which doesn’t use plates, only folders. Have no idea if it can cut through all the materials you demonstrated here or if it will only do certain types of paper.
I couldn't make out what dies were being used, and the finished pieces were too small to see in any detail. The embossed surfaces didn't show up at all. Not sure if it's my screen at fault or the video.
Yes. The cutting pads/plates DO get etched and marked by all the dies (not the embossing folders) that are run through the machine, this is normal. The pads/plates are a consumable item. To extend the life of cutting pads/plates, most papercrafters make sure to dedicate ONE of the two pads/plates as a the ONE to get scratched and etched by the cutting dies, keeping the other plate smooth, clean and pristine. After prolonged use, you'll notice the well-worn, cut-into pad/plate is transferring its etch/scratch marks directly onto your smooth cardstock shapes. At that point, your preserved, pristine pad/plate changes roles to become the pad/plate that gets cut into, scratched, etched, etc. and you'll also introduce a new, smooth, clean pristine plate as the "preserved plate". One last tip to maximize the life of your cutting pads/plates: It's important to rotate and flip your "cutting" pad/plate (the ONE that "takes the beating") every few cuts. This keeps it from warping too severely. A very small bit of warping is unavoidable. One of my crafting friends NEVER flips or rotates her cutting pad/plate and just replaces it every month to 6 weeks----I'm only on my second "cutting" pad/plate and I've had my Big Shot since 2012. I hope I was clear and helpful! Have fun with your new, high-quality Sizzix die cutting machine! 😊🧡😊
Thank you for this useful video. I am beginner in paper crafting. Unfortunately the folding big shot does not come with starter kit. So meaning I have to get the old big shot starter kit then get the foldable one. 😫
Yes, I'd say about 90% come with a starter kit. But sometimes some come with just the machine and platforms (no extras). Just read the product listings carefully.. Retailers will usually post all the contents inside the box:)
Hey man, I see you over there. Dont you dare write that comment. Thats right. Move your fingers away from the keyboard, we're all thinking the same thing

Thank you for the demo. It's been very helpful as I've just bought a second hand sizzix bigshot. I feel more confident using it now. 👍😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! I’ve just bought the foldaway and after your video I can’t wait to get started!

Hi, I’m thinking of getting a Big Shot, is the foldaway one worth the extra £30, space isn’t an issue and I’m so undecided, thanks

Great job! I love your friendly smile!
When I was researching die cutting machines, I went with the Big Shot because I felt it had less moving parts that could potentially break. I really love it but ofcourse they all have pros and cons.
Great video! You sold me on the foldaway! I need something portable and i have been looking at the Sizzix!

You are delightful as well as informative!
How do they compare on weight ?
Waiting for the fold away to be released in the USA. Sizzix has always been my favorite.
It's a great machine!:)
Can u reccoment or send a link about how to use a Double Do XL die cutting machine PLEASE
Do they wear out. Mine does not cut like it should
I guess with Cricut (Provo Craft) moving away from manual die cutting, that Sizzix is seizing the foldaway die cutting machine, that many of us Cuttlebug users love.
Do I need to use the magnetic or the precision plate with it..
Hi, the precision plate should not be used with the foldaway
Thanks for the video, it was helpful. I am wondering if all cutting pads that fit the big shot will fit the foldaway? I'd like to purchase the blue set but I want to make sure it will fit through the machine.
Hi Ruth! Thanks for your comment. I'm 99.9% sure that they do fit, but I'm going to test it out and get back to you.
Yes, the cutting pads, etc. are interchangeable
The precision pad should not b used on the foldaway

I am waiting for my fold away to arrive - can't wait - my big shot has given me years of pleasure but is so heavy and hard to store -
How exciting Christine! Hope you have lots of crafty fun!-Janette

Great video, one question do all other brand dies and embossing folders fit in this?
Leanne Mummyto2, according to scrapbook.com yes they all fit.

What is a "steel wool" die?
I couldn't make out what dies were being used, and the finished pieces were too small to see in any detail. The embossed surfaces didn't show up at all. Not sure if it's my screen at fault or the video.
Hi , thank you for the demo it was super informative 👏🏼👍🏼
Do the cutting pads get scratched up by the imprints left by the metal die-cuts or bigger pad? Is that scratched up look to be expected?
Yes. The cutting pads/plates DO get etched and marked by all the dies (not the embossing folders) that are run through the machine, this is normal. The pads/plates are a consumable item.

If I wanted to have my own dies made for my original designs...what companies do you suggest that i contact for that?
Good comparison! Thanks!
Thank you for this useful video. I am beginner in paper crafting. Unfortunately the folding big shot does not come with starter kit. So meaning I have to get the old big shot starter kit then get the foldable one. 😫
Hi there! Good news! It does come with the starter kit at Craftstash! www.craftstash.co.uk/big-shot-foldaway-die-cutting-machine-grey-white.html
CraftStash.co.uk Thanks dear! This is helpful! You are great!
hi l thought that most places sell if with the starter kit

How much it’s the big shot?
Thank you 😁👍
The precision plate CANNOT be used on the foldaway!!! This is a big difference!
Apparently you don't need the precision plate because the Foldaway has greater pressure than the standard Big Shot.
