- Hey Gang!
Today we talk about the Chevy Trailblazer and why I absolutely LOVE the vehicle but since it confuses our customers so much, it's been a vehicle that caused me a lot of frustration selling it.

After test driving just about everything out there (seven make and models). I purchased the Trailblazer Activ in White with the Pano roof for my wife. No other CUV on the market offers Selectable AWD, 9sp auto and turbocharging or the sophisticated feature other than the Jeep Compass but the Compass with pano roof and top trim was 18 000 (15000us) Canadian more than the Trailblazer which I got for 1575cnd under MSRP (1200us). Even better I got 5200 trade in on her Trax LS fwd 6m that I purchased in 2016 for 15 700cnd (12 500us). I have zero concern with reliability as the Trax made in the same factory and designed by the same engineers was absolutely bulletproof over 180 000km (112k miles). These small GM CUV are also a dream to work on if you like to wrench. Being a manual car the Trax only required one set of front brakes at 90 000 miles ! and one set of expensive spark plugs and coil pack at 120 000 miles, all very easy to do myself. Rust resistance was surprisingly excellent, the Trax still looked practically new after seven years of living on the salty coast and travelling to the north of Canada every winter to snowmobile. So if you can find one, get it, you will not regret your choice. If you have questions just ask. I will do my best to answer. I've tried them all.
Thank you for the offer to ask questions. I’m here in California, so don’t really need the AWD. The 2 year lease on my Trailblazer will be up this month, has under 17,000 miles. I’m considering either buying it out or leasing a Trax. My wife saw some on the local lot recently. So which do you prefer? Is the CVT in the TB a bad thing, and are wet timing belts problematic-which I believe are on both. Thanks in advance. I may shop for one tomorrow. Or is Toyota, for instance a Corolla better?
I've had my 2023 Activ for a couple weeks now and I really like everything about it. When you look at comparable vehicles in it's class I think it still represents the best bang for the buck.
I had an older Silverado that got totaled in an accident. The girl's insurance company has been very generous about getting me paid out. So yesterday I went and picked up my Trailblazer. I am very happy with my purchase.
I HAVE A 2021 TRAILBLAZER RS AND 2020 BLAZER 3LT. LOVE THEM BOTH
Just bought a 2023 Chevy Trailblazer RS Black on Black and it's amazing. Everyone says "Oh the engine is weak" ... and I bet they don't even turn off ECO mode
you going to go bankrupt behind this pos car
It’s not bad. And the RS is a turbo. Good on you for snagging one so early in the game. The only ones here are for test drives. Makes me so upset it’s coming do late here in Alberta, Canada.
Everyone tells me the engine is weak; how is it now?
@@sandraroberts1931 Every trim is the same engine
It's turbo charged and 1.3 liters. It's great on gas and you'll never need to put it in race mode to feel like you need more acceleration.
I am a retired Ford technition and purchased one last year because it's made in Korea. It's black a RS I hate black, it doesn't have all wheel drive which I really need living in Northern MI.
But I was happy to get a call from one of three dealerships that actually got one in at the time. So far I am happy with it other than the brakes are touchy.
I'm glad to hear somebody say something about the brake being touchy mine is the same way
@@dakotaautosales9673 yes they are so much more sensitive than my silverado truck. Whenever we go out the first time I step on the brakes the wife gets whiplash and is yelling at me LOL
The brakes are very grabby when cold, helps to lightly ride the brakes to get a little heat in the rotors and the brakes get less grabby. Wondering if changing to a semi metallic or organic brake pads will be a better solution when original brake pads ware out.
I love mine. 3 cylinder engine scared me a bit but it has more than enough power to merge onto an interstate highway. Mine was a dealer order but it was the color I would have ordered and had all accessories I was looking at. Perfect fit.
Picking one up tomorrow my local dealer ended up doing a dealer trade to get me what I wanted! I’m excited!
I love the trailblazer. I just bought the 2023 activ 3 days ago. I asked if I could build one and was told what you said, not possible. That was a little disheartening bc I really wanted that bright blue. But I love my car and all it's options especially the phone charging pad and panoramic sunroof. ❤
get your money back
I was in the market for a trailblazer and it was tough there was none! Lol I wanted the RS but every time I would find one it was already bought or promised to someone else 😢. I ended up with the LT which I love either way I’m missing some of the upgrades I wanted but I needed a new car ASAP so I’m grateful for my car
Yes, I needed a car too, but I got lucky and found the one I wanted. So I'm just double happy. Congrats on your car.
I had a 2020 Equinox and really loved it. But when I was looking around for something newer, I came across a 2023 Trailblazer Activ - loved it immediately! Living in South Dakota, I love that I can turn the AWD off and on. It's super zippy and I never would have guessed it's a 3cyl. I had to drive 3hrs to get the color I wanted (Orange w/ a white rooftop) but that's just fine by me. I'm coming up on a year and have zero regrets. Excellent gas mileage, city and highway. Bose speakers so I can jam. Huge sunroof. Heated steering wheel, heated seats, power tailgate. I've never bought the same vehicle twice in a row, but with the Trailblazer I could be convinced!
I bought a 2024 Trailblazer a few weeks back. I really like it. It's very good on gas. I changed the oil after just ONE thousand miles. Gas mileage seemed to improve after the 1000 mile oil change. I will say however, that I've never seen oil that black with such few miles on the odometer. (I showed it to my neighbor who owns a 2023 Trailblazer and he literally got down on his hands and knees to see if it smelled burnt because he said it didn't look right. He said it didn't.)
I will be changing the oil in 4000 miles at the 5000 mile mark and then every 5000 miles thereafter. It'll be interesting to see how the oil will appear at the 5000 mile mark. I don't suppose that it can be any worse than what it looked like after just 1000 miles. We'll see. After my experience, I would recommend to anyone a relatively early first oil change and not wait till 10,000 miles.
I bought one used with only 7k miles on it. Its black LT trim and i am loving it. After having the last model year s10 blazer 2 door as my first truck, then and spark and a cruze i was ready for another. It reminds me of my first love in size and style.
Its absolutely perfect in every way i had thought.
I hope anyone who wants one can get one.
I get crap for working for a Toyota collision center and being a chevy girl, but in the end i also don't have to see my own truck crashed in various forms as i work. I would cry.
just bought the LT yesterday, all black with black rims. I never thought of buying a LT before, but when I drove it and saw it. Great car for what I was looking for. the dealership had 2 different models on lot and the LT was it. thank you for your video.
Congrats on your purchase! Don't forget to enroll in the MyChevrolet App and try out the remote start while you have your 30-Day Trial!
get rid of it
I’ve owned my for a year, I enjoy the vehicle. The only issues I’ve had is changing the headlights since the drivers side likes to eat them, changed twice since I’ve owned it. The second issue is with the cruise control, likes to kick off when you hit a bump. I was told GM was aware of this issue. My dealer ordered the parts required to fix this issue. It will be repaired hopefully Friday of the coming week. Otherwise I like it
take that pos back
Just bought one. Absolutely love it
I got a 2024 trailblazer rs 2wd and I love it. I'm so happy I have a great car for such a low price. It's plenty of power and great gas mileage. I was gonna get a 2024 trax tbh but the trailblazer just had so many nice features to not pass up
How much did you get it for??
Once a seller knows you are not financing from them, they tend to steer quite a bit like some of the real estate agents when they see no money in the game. You won't get the help like you should. I personally found the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer RS two tone black top with crimson red. The best part was, it's the AWD 9 speed automatic transmission, 1.3 liters-155 hp and without the over-priced sunroof. A needle in a haystack, but I found it. When you find the one you're looking for don't wait like the customer did. Otherwise my car would have been his. You snooze you lose and got it all just a little over 32k. I freaking love it!
I payed cash or rather a check no financing whatsoever and my saleswoman was extremely helpful and has called me a couple times to see how I like the trailblazer.
Just got mine yesterday.
FWD 1.3 man that thing is peppy.
What a fun car to drive.
I'm glad you shared some insight on this. I've been trying to find a Trailblazer and it's been rough. The dealers I'm working with so far are saying the car I'm looking for is at least two months out.. but likely more. I'm not one to buy something sight unseen, especially for that much money but looks like I'll have to rethink that approach!
Thanks Sharon for saying that. It's frustrating to have a customer like yourself wanting to buy what they want and not being able to deliver it.
A dealership by me has more than a few.
@@John-kx3ng There are definitely dealers out there that have some inventory. I can only just comment on our situation. We turn every one as fast as possible so we can get more. We are currently due in 3 the next few months and two of them have already been pre-sold.
dont buy
Have you looked at Trailblazer's sister... Buick Encore GX. Dealers in this area the same way... no TBs in stock. But they do have a few Encore GXs on their lots.
I originaly wanted a Trailblazer but couldn't find one late 2022 early 2023 they ones dealers were getting were already presold or customer orders. I ended up with a 2022 Buick encore gx select slightly used with 6K miles on it. Wasn't thrilled about the 3 cyl engine but after owning this since January it's much quicker than expected and runs great with good gas mileage. I have a friend who is a service advisor for Buick and he said these 3 cyl engines have been around in europe and asia for many years and they are now seeing some of the higher mileage ones and so far no major issues. His advice was keep the oil changed as required and you really don't have trouble...anyone he has found with turbo problems are the ones to who drive with their foot to the floor at every stoplight and fail to do normal maintenance...I agree as some people just don't take care of their cars. I traded a 2016 Cruze with the 1.4 4 cyl and had no trouble either...the Buick seems to be quicker off the line than the Cruze was and the gas mileage seems to be equal with the Buick being larger. One other reason I didn't get the Trailblazer as the dealers here in central Indiana were adding $2k to the sticker as a market adjustment and wouldn't deal on them.
I just got a Trailblazer 2023 and I love it so far. My 2008 Equinox was barely bigger inside and barely bigger outside, way worse gas mileage and didn't drive very smooth. The Trailblazer is far superior IMO.
get a better car than gm
I bought the LT at the end of last year I went with the fwd because I wanted something small and fwd so I can tow behind my motorhome, I love it so far.
I sold one early on to a customer for the flat-tow capability as well and they are very happy as well! Glad to hear it!
@@HeyItsMeSteve A flat tow, I wasn't aware that you can do that with all four down.
@@bishopgeorge1333 sorry! I blew by the FWD! You can NOT a FWD! Sorry
@@HeyItsMeSteve I have a tow dolly that I put the front wheel on, I have a fwd.
Lack of parts to fix issues is also a huge problem. At least that's what we have had on a new car. Developed a turbo issue at around 20,000 miles. Have a 2022 been waiting for a month for a part. Turbo needs replacement. Still no estimate when it will come to dealer. Parts stores don't seem to have common parts like brake pads. Came missing parts even like the back up sensors and the seat heater parts due to shortage of parts. Like it otherwise. Bought with 4 miles on it.
I had the same issue at 38,000 miles

We love our 2023 trailblazer RS, its definitely one of the better vehicles in this segment.
I think Chevrolet will sale more trailblazers if they match the warranty like Hyundai,Kia and Mitsubishi, I will buy one my self, good informative video 👍🏽
This is what turned me away from the trailblazer. I have a Kia and I love the 10yr/100k mile warranty! Was bummed when I saw that this car only offered 3yrs/36k mile warranty. No bueno
they need to stop making them
I was in the market for a trailblazer last fall and it was hard because there was none available! Lmao Really wanted the RS but whenever I saw one it was already sold to someone else. Ended up with a 2024 LS which I absolutely love there were some sacrifices had to make along the way but was able to get it with the bigger engine plus was in a bit of a bind and needed a new car. Overall, Am grateful for my car
I got a 2023 nitro yellow all fully max except for the 360 camera since they run out of chips got them for 38k cad
Is there anything other than ECO if so how do i get the other drive modes
How change transmission fluid? Thanks
My 2022 trailblazer is having issues with the turbo engine I been waiting a month for all four parts and on top of that I had to pay $180 for a diagnostic test I’m completely disappointed
Under full warranty...and they charged you for a diagnostic test to find out what was not right with your vehicle? That just ain't right.
So the worries about that three cylinder turbo are coming true😔
Yeah it seem like all the dealerships charge a ridiculous amount to run a diagnostic. How long have u had your trail blazer? How many miles? Thank u for posting, I was thinking about getting one but concerned about their reliability.
Hate the Equinox! My fiancé leased 1 and we were SOOOO happy when her lease was up.
this would have made more sense if they called it the Cruze crossover. That is what it is. As far as the Eqinox vs Trailblazer vs the Blazer the line up is to overbooked.
Our 2023 RS has been sitting at the port, on US soil, for 2 weeks now. We had to get it from a dealer 500 miles away to get what we wanted

@@mattnorman5241 Shut up dude
How would you compare it to the Subaru Crosstrek?
After one test drive, I laid my concerns over acceleration to rest.
They sound ok, but honestly would not keep once the warranty is over.
My 2021 Trailblazer was great until the LOW ENGINE POWER notice came up. The TURBO CHARGER WENT ON IT. THE CAR HAS 8,500 MILES ON IT. If it weren't under warranty, this would have cost right around $1,500!!!
Just be glad the warranty is good for 50000 miles on that transmission and motor
These newer cars are supposed to have the six standard safety features Chevy talks about. I would like to have Chevy CEO personally demonstate these safety features and use his own family to test on. Trailblazers were sent to consumers with some of this safety stuff not installed even though sticker showed it being present. They still are not doing anything to notify customers.
Best vehicle gm has made
you a lie gm never made a good product
I have a 2022 black trailblazer I like it very much
I want to love it and i want to buy it but i cant because the engine and both transmission options are awful and unreliable. If this thing had a 2.5 4 cylinder with no turbo and a regular 8 speed auto on all trims i would own one right now
Nice video! Would have liked to have seen more on the LS model; We just bought one, & did get to compare it to a LT model with the optional 1.3 , & AWD. We ended going with the LS model; It just seemed be more bang for the buck IMHO. There was not one RS model on the lot.We still own a 07 Trailblazer, The difference is night, & day. I'll take the 23 Trailblazer over 07 all day long as far as maintenance cost, & fuel consumption. Thanks for the video.
If you pay attention you will notice that the Trailblazer is identical to the Bolt EUV. I did a double take when I first saw it.

Shortage of used TBs as well. Bought new 2021 Trailblazer LS for $23k, just got $20k trade with 33k miles. Had planned to get 2024 Trax but there are like zero available for sale in this market. The few they get are selling the minute they come off truck. So I got 2024 Encore instead for a couple grand more than I wanted to pay but at least they had a one in stock.
The only thing I hate about the new Trailblazers is it that they are all 3 cylinder turbo engines.
they sucked 20 years ago and they still suck get your money back
You’re probably going to sell more trailblazers because the new trax will only come as front wheel drive. Too bad it does look nice.
they need to go out of production
