Pitchers... Do THIS for a Healthy Shoulder

  • Shoulder health for pitchers is a complex topic, but here's something simple you can add to your routine 2-3 times per week for 2-5 minutes. Taking care of the soft tissue quality for your posterior rotator cuff will hydrate the tissue and better allow you to externally and internally rotate as you throw. It can also open up the joint and contribute to preventing or reducing impingement symptoms from occurring.
    -
    Careful going too aggressively right before high intensity throwing, as you're still going to be doing a bit of tissue damage as with any deep tissue or massage work.

      We'll do a video on this in the future.
      Are you talking about improving shoulder internal rotation or full overhead flexion like a shoulder press? To strengthen the cuff in internal rotation I like full range band or DB external rotations and internal rotations. To get stronger overhead or open up overhead motion you'll want to make sure the lats are stretched and pliable and do full range of motion in any type of overhead pulling movement.
      Scapular mobility plays a big role in being able to get overhead without any restrictions.
      We can do a video on this in the future.
      Email us at contact@treadathletics.com in the meantime if you need anything else.

    How do I know if the pain in my shoulder while throwing is from not having good mobility or from having too much laxity in the posterior cuff?

    Can this also address shoulder impingement issues?

    These may help me. During each throw I have pain that radiates from those muscles and down the back of my arm. It affects my release point especially when I try to throw hard.

      Did you ever find a solution ? I’m having the same problem and it’s stopping me from playing ball

    Wish I had known this before tearing the rotator at 15 and ending any further baseball aspirations 😑

      Over use and weakness lil bro. If you have any kids that like any throwing sports make sure they do not overdo it

      @@sun6262- I mean yeah, but this was 15 years ago. Nobody knew what to diagnose it as for some reason and it went untreated even after doctors and physical therapists. I’m very read into it at this point haha

    is bench press bad for baseball players and specifically pitchers?

    • @treadathletics
      @treadathletics  3 роки тому +4

      It depends a lot on the details. I don't LOVE bench press when compared to weighted pushups or dumbbell bench press, but it's a perfectly fine lift if that's what you have access to, if good form is used, if it's properly loaded (don't max out 3 times per week) and if a basic amount of upper body mobility work is included in your training program too.

    How would you target muscles on the other side of your shoulder (upper bicep area) with stretches?

    • @treadathletics
      @treadathletics  3 роки тому

      If it's an issue we use a biceps myofascial stretch. Here's a video: ua-cam.com/video/tecoZXUJPEY/v-deo.html

      It's likely a pretty tender spot for most throwers
