    As I've gotten older, the need for speed has gone from me. So a bike like this is perfect. I really like the Red and chrome Classic 350, as it looks a lot like the old BSA bikes. My only issue is that the chrome would require me to spend time polishing. I think the flat green military Classic 350 would probably be a better option for me. These bikes look really good with knobby on and off road tires, and it gives them more bite on gravel/dirt roads.

    First, love the location, I would do that one again and try to make a point about the train, I love trains! Second, you said the best thing you could about that bike! It is the first bike I just want to take when I go out and easy to make U turns and get out and enjoy riding. Who wants highways when you have a bike like that. Wonderful

      @exeterrider Thank you , My Mate has one the same as yours and he's just done a trip to the I O M with his son who has a 350 Hunter , they both have other bike with bigger capacity, but they love the 350cc Royal Enfield, so they seem to have a good write up and if you can leave your ego at home and live life at a more leisurely pace then I think it's perfect and therapeutic, which is what we all need in this mad day and age 😀 Enjoy and stay shiny side up .

    I have owned the Classic 350 for just over 2 years now and have to it’s the best bike I have owned in 54 years of riding. Unless you must travel at 80 miles an hour this is the perfect bike. So well made, reliable and you just relax every ride, no worries about speed limits, as more enjoyable at the lower speeds we have these days. 😊

    Have a 350cc meteor myself ( in the red) for 8 months now, and found it to be excellent, pulling away from a standing start gets up to its 70 mph fairly quickly, but the best is how comfortable the bike is , and handles a dream, all round a brilliant little machine 😊

Had mine a year+. Almost at 30,000km , beyond standard servicing all I've had to repair/replace is two punctures (nails both times) and new brake pads...

    Great post, I'm getting a new 350 meteor "Stellar" as it has the only colour I like "Dark Blue Metallic" same colour as my previous HD 883 iron, what a bargain at £3299, have been riding 45 years and now is the time... Tail tidy and rear seat removal will be enough to give it the sportster look and feel I am looking for, at literally a third of the price.

    The suspension fix is miles ridden when i first got my meteor i planned to change the rear shocks after the run in period but at 2100 miles its become quite luxurious 👍the common term for that is stiction in the shock absorber the front was the but nowhere near as bad but is now becoming very plush , the motor is still getting better as well and the gearbox which is superb by the way is sensitive to chain tension as i found it had lost its feel a bit but i adjusted the chain at 1200 miles and literally couple of mm was all it needed and normal service was resumed

    You said that you haven't noticed anything different about the bike now that you have put more miles on it. However, the bike that I had did change. When new, riding over large bumps would send a painful thump through the seat, which wasn't comfortable! But after the bike had done about 1,500 miles I realised that the rear suspension had softened and it no longer gave those very harsh thumps. It was noticably better. 🙂

    as non rider looking at taking their CBT what does not a fast bike mean in car terms? Would it be fast for most average cars? I dont really have an interest in going really fast by I cant really translate CC in my head!

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  29 днів тому

      I understand mate-so , imagine a diesel 1.9 van where it has loads of power but its not fast getting there BUT its still fast enough and when going up hill your in a high gear compared to a faster 1.2 fiesta which is faster but you have to go down the gears going up the hill because it has less Torque.
      If you thinking of the meteor as your first big bike then I think you're on the right track TBH...it just depends what you want I guess.
      I hope that helps.

    • @Benjohns89
      @Benjohns89 29 днів тому

      @@exeterrider I think I get what you mean. Pulls better in most gears but even dropping down it wont have as much speed.
      It is, at least along those lines. Obviously I'd be stuck on a 125cc after the CBT but being 6"2 Ill look a bit big on a lot of smaller bikes. Seeing as I'm not looking to speed around and they would probably suit my size a bit better I'm looking cruisers. Lexmoto make a 125cc cruiser. I've heard mixed things about them but my feeling is get it new for £1700 while it has the warranty so if anything goes wrong its covered and I can flog it when I hopefully pass the full test before warranty runs out!

      Just go out into our street and shout "Je suis anglais" and everybody runs inside, locks their doors and hides behind the sofa. Perfect piece to camera tranquility is yours.

    Classical Exeter review .. If there is not noise or interruptions, we will miss them. 😁 .. The bike is brilliant, the engine too. I still miss my classic 350 but think that made a mistake, should of gone for the meteor in red with the top spec .. But it's not healthy to dwell on the past. The thing I don't like is the instrument cluster and it's offset to left location, maybe the headlight too. Looks a bit unfinished like something is missing in the area. The classic is perfect in that regard, but it is not a comfortable seating position as the meteor.

    I totally agree with you on the highway. I don’t really want to be going 80-85 on two wheels. So many other reviews are like “ don’t go on the highway it’s not safe you’ll die!” Like there aren’t dozens of cars and trucks going 65-70 in the slow lane. These same people afraid to go 65 MPH due to the danger are whizzing in and out of traffic at 90 assuming no car is going to change lanes in front of them, a far more likely danger than getting run over doing 65
