The ruler on the underside of the saw guide was brilliant.

Very nice. The whole project stands and falls with an EXACT centered router base. I would say everything > 0.1mm is not acceptable.

Appreciate if you can provide measurements like for the MDF, wood used as T slot and the length of the router cut.

Hi. I may be wrong but I believe that you left out important information regarding your jig design: 1) The distance from the t-slot to the template edge of the MDF is determined by the distance of the router's sub base to the cutting edge of the installed bit. Your video could have shown the making of the template by routing the 4 template sides to width with the newly created sub base and selected bit. 2) Only the original or equal diameter sized bit can be used. Using a different diameter, e.g. 1/4 vs, 1/2, will not yield the same results. A bit that is bigger in diameter than the one used to create the template will cut into and ruin the template.

Hello Kam Leo, good eye! ;) That is correct. The jig can be used only with the original router bit which was used for the creation of the jig (length from the T-slot to the edge of the MDF desk). Using other sized bits would not work with the jig or ruin it. Good point, I like it! Thanks for the comment 👍

Thank you for this comment! I was trying to figure out 1) how this worked without using a bushing and 2) why they made the router base. I couldn't figure out what I was missing and now see those two are related.

@@psxndc I still fail to see why you need the step of making your own base plate. My Makita RT0700C has a black baseplate that would work fine? Why would the extra height added by the custom baseplate matter? The width seems the same.

This only works when you're trying to cut all the way through whatever you're routing. This won't work for something you need a precise depth
