These were all super helpful to see how you break each type of animation down, thanks for sharing! I didn't know that traditional animation is 12 fps, but that's good to know. I might have to give Fresco a try, I've only been using Procreate, I really like how you have been showing them both for comparison.
Glad you found it helpful! I said animation is 12fps, but technically it’s usually 24fps animated “on 2’s,” meaning there’s 2 of each frame. So that translates to 12fps. It’s a bit confusing and I’m by no means an expert in this regard!
I totally loved the story about your realization about animations because of apple preview showing gifs frame by frame. Hearing about those epiphanies is inspiring and super fun. Ty for such a neat video.
Can you please make a video on exporting or preparing your work for printing or for video? Do u need to have Illustrator to print vector drawings? What file types can we use for print or to have a transparent background so we can use our animations in a video editor as a title?
I’ll add this stuff to the list. But no, you don’t need illustrator to print vector artwork. You can open the file in photoshop or print directly from Fresco, or export a PDF from Fresco. You can print a jpg, pdf, png, or PSD with good results as long as it’s at least 300dpi at the size you’re printing. So, if your print size is 10” wide, you’d need your document to be at least 3000 pixels wide. For overlaying animations on video, to get the best results I would export a png sequence from the motion options. I actually have a video that shows this process (I believe it has video graphics in the title).
Me again. This was helpful. I am a lefty and therefore embrace the awkward lettering style I have. I’m primarily a ceramic artist, BUTT (lol) I am making videos for my channel and like to use my own flavor of illustrations and titles. So, can you do a little somethin’, somethin’ on a vid about that topic? TIA
Been really enjoying all the insight to your videos. I'm more of a traditional artist when it comes to drawing, but have dabbled with digital over the years. Never quite fully committing nor seeing the growth I'd like to see. Your videos are really inspiring & accessible to a novice like myself. Love the lettering and "low tech" animation style. And glad you're using Fresco as it's the app I'm trying to stick with. Just saw a video on using the touch modifier for quick vector trimming. Do you ever use that function? Great work, good luck on your continued YT growth.
you explain very well, please keep it up :) Could you explain how to draw without pixelating please? My drawings are pixelated and I can't find a solution 🙏
Thank you! I’ll do my best 😊. Pixelation is just a result of your file size not being large enough. I tend to work at a minimum size of 2000 pixels wide if it’s for animation. But if it’s something I may print, or is just going to be a static image I work around 4000 to 6000 pixels wide.
So, it is adding the frames to your layer? How is it not just running the different elements one after the other, (which would not, for example have name showing but switch to the "lightening" group). Since yours are overlapping them as individual animation, can you just do a little explanation of organization? Are they grouped or something? .
Hi Amy, in Fresco each layer has its own timeline. So since the sequences are on their own layers they play simultaneously. Does that answer your question?
I love doing animations and I just started learning how it works in Fresco. But when you export a GIF that is transparent there is a thin white line around your animation, which is ugly when you wanna use it on instagram stories for instance. When I export from Procreate it’s sharp betwenn black outline and transparency, no white little outline. And I would like to use Fresco more but this bothers me, do you know any way around it? Is there a setting I could change?
Hmm I haven’t had that issue, I’ll see if I can figure out what’s going on. What resolution are you working in? Is there a lot of texture/gradation in your animation? I make animated graphics for my videos in Fresco without any issues like that.

That’s cool to hear that resonated with you! Thanks for letting me know! Glad you liked the video!
I love that it reminds me of Rocko's Modern Life. 😄
I'm loving how you break it down, super simple to follow and very helpful. Thanks Chris!

So glad you’re enjoying them!
Your videos are gold. Thank you for taking the time to do them 🙌
Ahhh thanks so much! I really appreciate that!
Really great walk through on these simple animations Chris! Keep it up!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked them!
When will we have mirroring method?! They have promised 2 years ago! And many others like puppet, 3d and other ordinary tools!

Great tutorial Chris!

Glad you found it helpful! I definitely want to do a video on title stuff/call-ours for videos. I’ll start brainstorming!

Thanks so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying my videos and finding them inspiring! I haven’t tried that vector feature, I’ll look into it.
I guess it helps speed up erasing when you gotta go back and clean up the line over shoots👍🏽
Awesome video🧙♂️
😎😎😎😎thank you!
Great video. Get inspired to draw more.
Thanks so much!

@@chris-piascik ohh I'm working wrong, thanks for the explanation. You're the best
11:13 lol I hate that too Chris
lol!!
Can we see the type animation put over a film video.
That’s a good idea!
Hey i like these videos and you're not a stupid idiot lol❤
Haha thxxxx!
16:30 😂 Fresco wins!
I don't think your a stupid idiot... I think your SUPER COOL!
Haha thanks so much! 😎

@@chris-piascik thats amazing!
@@amymalcolm6336 agreed! I was blown away when I learned about how advanced Fresco’s animating features were.

is possible to export that to mpg4 with no bg ( transparent )?
Unfortunately not. When I need that kind of thing I export a PNG sequence and import that into Premiere.
@@chris-piascik i wonder maybe fill bg with green and then use chroma key
Oh maybe, I’ve never done that before, I’m still new to video stuff.
Thanks Chris, awesome video! No your not a stupid idiot 😂. What size is your canvas when posting videos (reels) on insta?
Haha thank you! I post my reels at 1080x1920.
i don't think you're a stupid idiot! make more videos!
Lol thank you!
