What you can do is mask the area and paint the tape with the color you're masking, then paint the second color and that will give you a very sharp line.
Just a little tip with spraying. To stop all bleeding, once you mask everything up, spray the area you sprayed black in yellow again first. Wait for it to dry then spray black. This illuminates any bleeding.
Hi, John I really like your series on the Victory. I started mine back in the early 1970s. I made a 1/72 scratch-built decorative diorama out of it with about 50 figures. Back in those days, info was very hard to get not like now with the internet. I am a subscriber and I enjoy the memories of my own build. I am almost 80 years old now. Cheers! John.
@@Johnbuildsiconic John I have had the same lack of response with my forums and pages over the years. The average person has no idea of the work involved in undertaking a project like this or what the situation would be like without all the information available today. Please continue with your efforts and remember for everyone that responds there are 20 others out there who don't. Cheers! John.
@@Johnbuildsiconic Well John you learn to innovate around the problems as you go along. I learned all about research and not just taking anyone's word for it. My background is aviation so I really started from the ground up learning about marine technology and terminology. It was a lot of fun though and something that I will always hold close to my heart. Cheers! John.
Looks great John, you are a genius . I am definitely following your videos and using them as a reference for my build. I am not quite as far along as you , I am on stage 57. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see how you tackle the copper plating I had a heck of a time with mine. Hide sight tells me now I should have waited to a little later in the build to do my plates.
Maybe you could try putting a build log on one of the forums e.g. Ships of Scale or Model Ship World. Just a suggestion - but I think you deserve a wider audience with all the work you put in! Anyway it couldn't do any harm! Good luck!!
Hi John, just found your channel. Can you tell me the manufacture of this kit, also I have only managed to find part 2, do have or where can I find part one. Thanks for your help. Cheers John
This is a fantastic model, i love it. You have done a wonderful job. ( but did you know that you have painted in the wrong color. It was not actually yellow ochre . )
Hi I think that’s stiil in doubt, all the painting from the 17th century all the Royal Navy ship are coloured yellow Ochre, ive a beautiful painting of victory breaking the french line in yellow ochre, so to me it will always be yellow ochre
@@Johnbuildsiconic That's great, thanks for replying to my comments. I will continue with watching your amazing video's , building this magnificent ship, H M S Victory . Cant wait to watch the final video.
Did you get your Victory from Deagostini, and did you know they don't supply full size plans anymore, I use them as much as the instructions, I don't think I will buy any more of there models
Hi, I don't know which paint ı should use for wooden model ship kits. What type of paint did you use on this video and can you write where did you buy it. Thank You.
I am so sorry but I am an American that has some difficulty with a mumbled English colloquial accent whispered at a high rate of speed. @@Johnbuildsiconic Thank you.
John you do no that they have found that she was painted alight pink ?
Hi bill. Ye I’ve seen the new pink colour. I just don’t like the colour that much. Plus all the painting I’ve seen victory by is painted in yellow
@@Johnbuildsiconic Totally agree , The woke gang will love it Ha
I’m a big believer in if you have spent your own money on the model. You can paint it orange if you wanted. Not that I would lol
Just gets better and better!!! One question:- why have you only got 500 and odd subscribers?
Very Nice.
What kind of paint did you use
Hi jake, I used the Acrylic paint range for the victory from admiralty paints
What ochre tone did you use, please?
Hi hikolay. I’ve used yellow ochre on my build of HMS Victory
@@Johnbuildsiconic what do you think about salmon pink that they repainted it recently?
I’ve seen the colour up close and I’m not that keen. And all the painting I’ve seen of victory are yellow ochre
