I'm having a ball watching you, and cut, hand split, and stacked my share of Firewood watching you teach and do, brings back many memories. Keep on cuttin', and talkin' to the Lord, and Bill W. Have a blessed day my friend. Truckin' Ray Smith
I love how even though you’re on a job you still take the time to show what you’re doing and letting us see up close and personal God Bless you and all the viewers here be kind
Buckn, you and Hogan are unreal like 2 machines in complete syncrony! Pretty awsome how you 2 know what each other are thinkn at same time, I wake up every morning just hoping you have another video out, an if not i watch an older 1 Buckn you have no idea how you guys inspired me, ive been buckn alot since watchn your videos, broke my back 4yr ago an still not even 60% but u 2 have gotten me off the couch, love that 266 ironhorse, id love ta have a 390ish 36" bar ironhorse id love that brother love to you guys be safe guys ur both awsome,
Buckin, Please pass this message on to Hogan to let him know how much his cutting looks like you and the way you do things. In my opinion that is one of the greatest compliments a person could give him. Over my years of following people on UA-cam, the Internet and personal experience I have seen a good sample of people in my 77 and one half years to believe I have become a descent judge of how people do their thing in the woods and Buckin, old friend, you stand at the top of the pile by a considerable amount, again, in my judgement only. Many a logger that has turned heavily to mechanization usually have lost a tremendous amount of skill as a faller, a bucker and generally their skills in the use of a chainsaw in timber harvesting. You have stayed close to your knowledge base and continued to learn on every cut over the years. I refer everyone I come across that has desire to develop his skills and knowledge base in woodsman-ship to tune in to this channel for the best possible place to learn, while being as safe as possible. Thank you so very much for taking so many of us along on this journey!!!! Nick, North West Farmer
Nick these words are nice to hear and For hogan they are a great compliment he just sat with me as we read it ,, you sir have been here a long time and have my respect simply cause you have been here longer lol thank you ,,gratefully Buckin'.... Hogan (Ganges)
You two are a Superhero Tree Team! Woodman and Ganges! Always a great job fellas! I truly enjoy watching a father son team, who enjoy each other's company and can work together and show respect and love for each other. Makes my heart warm. Much love to all of you who come here and I hope you all have an awesome week! You are all amazing people! Love you all!
Hey Buckin' on that last tree, you and Hogan work together like a well oiled machine! I just don't get tired of watching and learning from you via these video's. I've used that poor mans come along for over 40 years, but today I now know what its called. Be safe and keep moving.
At 34:33...Wow that's allota wood moving. Pucker factor of 10+ for me but no big deal to an experienced feller Faller. Love the content Billy. Hi to Ganges too.
I was shown this by a truck driver 50 years ago and over time, forgot how to do it. I have an alternative type of wagon hitch I use but it does tend to cripple the ropes after a while. Thanks for reminding me that I once knew this knot, I'll start using it again. Be good, be safe and be lucky my friend. Above all, be lucky. No matter what we do to stay safe, fate and nature sometimes has other ideas on the matter.
I have used that hitch with rope before down in the great state of Texas. They called it a different name. I won't post this name because I wish not to offend the awesome people in the awesome state of Louisiana. It has many uses as a makeshift on the spot Come along. I enjoyed watching you use this special technique in your video. Thank you Buckin Billy Ray. You and Hogan are a great Father-son team, but more importantly, you both know what each other is doing while on the job. Safety comes first as you both work well as a team. Impressive
Hello Ken, thanks for being a part of Billy Ray's life. Buckin' and Hogan, what special memories you are creating together. When you are both no longer to do this work you can look back with a big smile and a warm feeling.
Watch every episode learning so much from you guys. I am a hobby feller Miller. Honestly appreciate your content. Your son is a fine man as well. Thanks Boys.
Good job fella's ( and fallers lol ) . If you put a ring or shackle or carabiner into the loop of the alpine butterfly and run the tail of the rope through that , it's less friction and easier on the rope . I used the method a few months back and used a largish gal chain link , worked great , only cheap rope so more prone to damage pulling rope through rope .
And I tell you something else brother. What’s epic to me is getting to experience the transformation of your legacy through your son to carry on. He’s like a sponge sucking it all up. He’s maturing and learning so well. Congratulations. It’s a pleasure to watch.
The best channel around to watch tree felling ,to see the job progress from the start ,the planning and execution is great.its the only way I would every see this so look what I would have missed out on...it's great to follow ironhorse and get feed back in both directions 😀😀
Love how you ask Hogan his thoughts. Not everywhere he can go and get training and nobody better to share advise as an equal...…….. You are the best....
Used the poor man many of times to keep the trees off the hydro wires on the right of ways , we would clip a steel Carabiner into the loop if you had one handy. Nice to see you two working together ,it is the best part of a mentors day when a young climber gets it and shows a passion for the trade. Nice work
Bucking’ Billy Ray Smith you are the man. Appreciate you and all you do. From a mental health aspect and tree techniques and expertise. Good man you are
You should be very proud and thankful (as I am sure you are) he is very smart and thinks for himself and listens to his dad with no smart talk but just plain respect for his dad.
Buckin' I would like to tell you a story about kindness and how my faith in humanity has been somewhat restored. I live in Southampton Ontario Canada and I have a small campfire wood business on the side of the road out in front of my farm. I sell split ash, maple and beach that has been dried for 2 years and my bags are twice the size of the bags sold at all the big stores in town for the same price. I sell a reasonable amount of bags every year and people have been very honest by putting money in the lock box out on the side of the road... The odd time I would be short the price of a bag or two for whatever reason and it doesn't bother me much... amazingly enough people have come back and settled up with me and now every bag is accounted for. I can't tell you how good this makes me feel and my faith in humanity is restored. I run a few husky's and a Stihl 661 for the big wood. I love your videos and continue to learn a lot. Keep on posting this awesome content it's great to watch at the end of a long day! Cheers to kindness!
The "poor man's come along is useful for so many things! I have used it to hoist deer when by myself, and as you have to direct the fall of some trees. Thank you, and Hogan, for taking the time out of your job to explain to us EXACTLY how it is done!
Great job men, that dead tree was awesome just exploded. Just wondering is anybody else as excited as a 5 yr old on Christmas about Buckinstock. Can wait to meet so many of the wonderful people that make this community what it is today. From my family to yours we love you all. And from me to you yes you, you’re an amazing person so let’s help change the world.😀❤️
ive watched all your videos, some more than once. the continuous information you share with us does slowly go into my head, and now when i fall a tree, i honestly do approach it differently. the panic has gone and the thought process kicks in and has become alot more enjoyable. so thankyou for sharing your time and knowledge with us. the last 5 trees i have felled have gone so smooth and exactly to how i wanted thanks to your videos. UK
Nice seeing the jobs start to finish. I also enjoy the rope work. It's good to know different knots..that butterfly instead of the bowline is neat.. gonna give it a go. Let's all spread the kindness and the joy of these videos ...let's get the subscribers to 60k before the end of the week. ~JAMIE
I am learning more about cutting from the ground prospective , as working Height's is not my thing Buckin !! My leg's aren't what they once were , so the more ground work for me the better , thank you and you son Hogan for the lesson's !!
I.M.O. = Greatest Outdoor Show On YOU TUBE, Bar-None ! G'day Father KEN ! Hogey = Love Them Red Suspenders, But Where's That Whistle ? Wonderful Job Fellas ! Love To All From The East Coast ! Be Kind Army ! ATB T God Bless
I really think these videos with Hogan, you and, from time to time Victorious, are pure gold... especially when one get to see the full job from start to finish... and certainly when you take the time to explain how and why you do what you do :) A lot of new things to learn for sure. Well… have a great week ahead, all of you great people around the world :)
I never tire of watching you take down behemoths because it makes me feel like I've put in a hard day's work, but without breaking a sweat. So it is my privilege to say thank you.
It is cool to see a job start to finish! In a lot of ways it gives a better perspective as to how much work it actually takes to get a job like that done! Thank you for sharing all that you do with us! Love to you and the family❤️
Thanks for the great video friends! Would not have believed some years ago that looking two guys working with power saws would be so nice and entertaining! And much of it is because of your realness, positivity, light heartedness, joy and kindness and attitude of serving all the time by giving us so much content of your passion with power saws and axes. Love ya buddies!! Be kind friends and hi Ken! Love wins!
Love watching your videos Billy ray, I too was tought how to fall by my dad and he was one of the best in his day. I sure miss spending that time with him, it makes me extremely happy to see you doing the same thing with your son!!! Fantastic and precious time he will remember and forever!
Hey you two, sure enjoyed this series of you working together and getting them all down safely. Enjoyed the tios along the way too. Thanks for sharing.
Incredible I really liked that poor mans come along, you are a great teacher Billy Ray you said that were it went and there is were it went, There's a lot more to cutting down a tree. You got to have a plan
When I was working for a tree company we used to make that loop in the rope, your "poor man's come-along." We called it the "turkey hauler". The boss would tell us to tie a turkey hauler in that rope and hook a snatch block in it. It truly is amazing how much leverage you can get with just a couple guys on that rope!
That was awesome ! good stuff Buckin !! I just wanna say thank you for all your videos they have been very helpful for Me as a First time tree climber .. I love all your videos! even the Chain sharpening tricks .. Yesterday I had a big wide hard wood tree .. 36’’s at the base .. My Huskqy just ripped through it like a hot knife cutting into butter LOL 😂 I was like Yeah Buddy look at those big wood shavings coming out the saw ! lol was awesome thank Buckin !!!
Hi Billy, been on a spree watching your vids, new and old. Old man winter does that to me. He's hard on my old bones. On these real cold bone chillin days, I like to sit back where it's warm, tend the stove, and do my recreational stuff. Quick tip for ya on the "rope-a-long". I use the truckers hitch but that's not the tip. I have a tenancy to babel sometimes ..... On your alpine butterfly knot you can clip on a carabiner then open the gate and slip the working end of your rope through. This does 2 things: saves ya from pulling all the working side of the rope through the loop, and provides a means to reduce friction giving you a slight advantage of not fighting the friction while pulling. Also saves a bit on rope wear. Hopefully you find this helpful. Now if you may, please school me. I've never run a full wrap handle. Is it more of a logger thing? Do I not know what I'm missing? Should I have them on my ground saws.... MS461 and 066 M? Pretty sure even if I do expirement with full wraps that I'll keep my 440 as is. Handle wise. Keep having a blast Buckin! Thank you for spreading kindness.
I am glad to have come across this small community. At times i feel lost in the way people treat one-another nowadays but it strengthens my heart and soul to know theres alot of good people out there. Thanks Buckin and son 😀
I love hangin out here with you guys so interesting, was in the lumber business dry kilns and processing for 30 yrs but never in the woods so this is so much fun to watch .
Ive seen all your videos billy. I have learned alot for you. And im still using you chain filing technique. Your the best keep up the great work buddy! And be safe
Love the content, love seeing how other treemen like you and hogan get things done my father's teaching me the trade and I'll own my own business soon enough. I'm a young climber and hopefully I get to learn some falling soon, the content helps SO much, you help me see what equipment you really need also.
I have been watching your videos for days prepping to cut down a 22-24 inch Hickory tree. Thank you for making this. I've cut down some trees, but none this big. I think I can get it aimed right where I want now. We will see how it goes. One thing I learned was about the lean, but I'm not sure you covered this. I'm fairly sure you have somewhere, if it if falling in a specific direction it will still keep that lean even if you offset hinge. I learned that from the Husky channel. I have definitely watched your channel the most. I think I have learned a lot. It reminds me of Construction Safety videos we would watch before going out to do a dangerous job.
Your videos are very entertaining and they provide a ton of very useful info! I loved the tip about the poor man come along, came in very helpful today! :)
Buckin' , being in a motorize wheelchair, I may never get to operate a chainsaw to experience the joy of being able to properly fell a free; however, watching all of your videos makes me feel like I understand the methods and could make a great effort at it. Seeing you work with your son is also a joy, and I know it makes you proud to see his development. Keep buckin'.....and stay safe. Be kind!
So the best part of my day is of course the end but logging in and watching your videos is a highlight of my day. So much knowledge and the willlingness to share. Priceless!!!!!
Just found your content. Been slowly learning to fell and clear my 5 acres myself for a start up homestead. You have such a contagious positive attitude and i love the content. Easiest subscribe in a while.
Always great to see Professionals practicing and sharing their trade with us .The lessons learned by these videos are such a help. Thanks Billy and Hogan.
I like the relationship between you and your son, your energy and vitality, your job and how you do it and the place you live in. Thanks for sharing! Greets from Italy.
Billy, I really appreciate your content, I have a small piece of land and a few years ago got a power saw but was nervous to use it on anything big, I have learned a lot from your videos. And gained confidence. And I can do a decent job sharpening a chain. Shine on
As a greenhorn I got a tree stuck on its stump (rolled it and hung up in another tree) I used a poor mans come along but with two “eyes” to yank it down myself. Great trick! Good on ya.
Amazing work friend! I love all the videos and you great big heart. I watch almost every day and look forward to my relaxing times so I can watch. Keep up the good work!
I love watching your videos. Your situation is alot like mine. My dad is teaching me to be a tree climber like your teaching your son. My dad has different ways of teaching but he's just like you when it comes to not needing that fancy dancy rigging equipment. He's all natural on his rigging. And that's how I wanna and am gonna learn it. I'm learning alot from your vids that my dad hasn't showed me yet. He and my mom are divorced and I don't get to see him much. My mom and dad still love each other they just don't get along for long periods of time. My dad has been a tree climber for going on 34 years. I'm 16 I have back problems and apparently I've been bruising a nerve in my wrist but I'm not gonna complain about it and no matter problems I get I'm gonna do what I wanna do and be a tree climber. My dad brought me a belt and I bought some spikes a lanyard and a new stihl chainsaw. I've been practicing on a tree in our back yard that has root rot. My dad isn't the first tree climber on his side of the family. It's in my blood and I learned all the knots and the general knowledge on falling a tree bucking it and climbing it. Next I need to learn is what to do once I'm in the tree lol. Anyway just thought id share since our situations are similar. I hope you have a great day only look at the positives and keep making great videos😀
I started wearing suspenders at 25 working as a handyman. From 16-22 I wore a tool belt every work day and couldn't believe the difference when I finally wised up! I used to swing a 23 oz. California framing hammer too in my 'tough guy' younger days 😂
the poor man's come along is something i could’ve used just today. looking forward to trying it out soon, and thanks for teaching us! more knots and how to tie them and what to use them for would be great!
Learned alot as expected Buckin. Like seeing Hogan learning from the Best. You have a true Gift using a Powersaw. Your the real deal Tree Man,Logger.
Everyday is a school day with Buckin & Hogan.
You can seriously learn so much watching this awesome channel.
Love to all.

Not only his experience falling in steep slopes and unstable surfaces the added balance he's learned from the ball he balances on .
I was shown this by a truck driver 50 years ago and over time, forgot how to do it. I have an alternative type of wagon hitch I use but it does tend to cripple the ropes after a while. Thanks for reminding me that I once knew this knot, I'll start using it again.

Love the content, love seeing how other treemen like you and hogan get things done my father's teaching me the trade and I'll own my own business soon enough. I'm a young climber and hopefully I get to learn some falling soon, the content helps SO much, you help me see what equipment you really need also.
That was awesome I know all kinds of situations that I could have used that poor man come along thanks for putting a new tool I can use in my life
YOU TELL EM HOGAN ,GREAT JOB AGAIN GUYS ,LOVE THE ARMY
Awesome job Hogan! Super father and son time!
Thanks for the skills. Always informative. 👍
You rock man so educational and passionate about the woods and saws. Love it
kool

That rope throw was worth the money. Nice work!

I use the 3 to 1 all the time, mostly because it's soo much faster then messin with gear. It works great. Loved this series.
Love the rope work. Learning things from all your videos. Loved the how to sharpen your chainsaw properly with a file. Keep up the great work.
Your videos are very entertaining and they provide a ton of very useful info! I loved the tip about the poor man come along, came in very helpful today! :)
That 266 cuts like a mo fo , love the channel, you are an encyclopaedia of knowledge. Legend .
grateful for the content! happy for you and your son you can teach him and work together!
Be kind!
rite on greg

Shine on
THIS IS GREAT
As a greenhorn I got a tree stuck on its stump (rolled it and hung up in another tree) I used a poor mans come along but with two “eyes” to yank it down myself. Great trick! Good on ya.
Father and son... love it! Great info you two are putting out.
Amazing work friend! I love all the videos and you great big heart. I watch almost every day and look forward to my relaxing times so I can watch. Keep up the good work!
You got me at "yep im the wuss" only started with tree work alittle more than a year ago its been really interesting to see how other ppl do it.
OMG I busted outloud on that one(wuss)! SO many things in life are NOT what you expect in fact 180 degrees opposite.
That 66 looks great! I just bought an old 262xp, can not wait to get it in the mail next week!
Wicked sense of humour buckin this is where the drone comes in handy😂👍 love wins every time
I love watching your videos.
YEEESSSS! I have been researching this exact situation and this is the answer. Thank you!!
Looks like you use a laser saw when you buck.Cuts are so str8 and clean.Awesome Boys keep up the awesome work.
I started wearing suspenders at 25 working as a handyman. From 16-22 I wore a tool belt every work day and couldn't believe the difference when I finally wised up! I used to swing a 23 oz. California framing hammer too in my 'tough guy' younger days 😂
You Guy's never seace to AMAZE me I love your videos. Please be carful. ps Hi KEN. GOD BLESS.
