I'm pretty certain you are not alone. And I'm not going to pass on a Queen toothpick simply because the bottom bolster is shorter than what I'm used to seeing. It actually becomes a signature piece of a Queen made toothpick -- and I really like Queen!
Two outstanding examples of the large/jumbo toothpick! I agree with you that the Case edges out the Queen as it is not only a overall cooler looking knife, but it is a fairly unique knife with the slightly larger frame/blade. Thanks for sharing you two beauties!
JJ Cahill, glad you enjoyed it. I agree both knives are fantastic knives. Both are also getting scarcer with each passing day. The case definitely has the cooler lines and that extra half inch really adds a vice touch. Thanks for dropping by and I appreciate the feedback!
That amber stag is beautiful! I ordered a Queen nbr 20 bone stag large toothpick yesterday. Can't wait to get it in hand. I'm reallt liking the toothpick pattern.
Timbo437, Queen makes a great toothpick. You won’t be disappointed. Glad you enjoyed the video. I go back and forth between the scout pattern and the toothpick. I’ll never really be able to choose which is my favorite. Thanks for dropping by. I appreciate the feedback.
ramblers69, I know what you mean. You don’t see shields like that very often! And the lines are just so damn sleek! It’s really like comparing a Sedan de Ville to a Corvette. Both are great cars but they are in two different categories! Thanks for dropping by! Truly appreciate the support!
I really like that red handle T-Pick, third from the left. The brown handle fourth from the right is classy looking, too. I don't have a toothpick of any kind. I guess my life is not complete.
Havent seen one of those go thru in a while! Your correct on case box. Date is when it was shipped out, the 4n tells you it was done in mod 4,on the night shift. steel is 420. What a shame what happend to queen, sad to see. Thank you for great video. I subscribed
John Norris, that’s a great find. I’m not sure this one will end up in the tackle box but I’m sure it would perform quite well! Thanks for dropping by!
Lars Buskkraft, to me the toothpick is probably the sexiest slip joint ever made. And much more practical than the design leads you to believe! Thanks for dropping by! I always appreciate your feedback!
Lars Buskkraft , I do not own an actual muskrat by Case but I have their Bird Hunter’s knife which swaps one of the muskrat blades with a bird hook. Really well made knife. I talk about the Bird knife in this video at around 6:40 minutes: ua-cam.com/video/CFRzkD7tLUA/v-deo.html I also did a video on the Muskrat pattern which might interest you; ua-cam.com/video/6cbSHTE42X4/v-deo.html
My biggest fear these days is this: like you, I have amassed a rather large collection of a couple hundred knives, and with my recent affection for "traditionals" my collection will undoubtedly continue to grow. Problem is, I'm not a young dude, and if I croak, my wife will no doubt sell them all off for 50cents each at a garage sale. I know, I know...I will be dead and it wont matter. But still....
I was never a fan of the Toothpick style of kife, however after watching a couple of your video's I feel I need one. Have to be a budget one though can't afford a high end one.
Unless You can't abide by a knife made in China, I would recommend a Rough Ryder. If it has to be USA, about your only choice is Bear & Son but I'll tell you now, the rough rider is better quality all around! The more I carry it, then more I've come to appreciate it simplicity and just how pocket friendly the slim knife is. on a side note, if you like Opinel knives you could also look at a #10 or #12 slim line. But the blade is pretty thin as it more or less a fillet knife.
@@KnifeChatswithTobias I have knives by Rough Rider but I checked on Heinnie Haynes and they only have small or large, no 4 inch also their blades are slim, I liked the look of the 4 inch you reviewed, to expensive for me though.
I have that Queen toothpick in highly figured snakewood scales. I love this knife, and never thought of the bottom bolster as short until you compared it to that Case. Edit: zebra wood.
Both are very good examples of the pattern! I dont have any Queen knives in my collection as of yet. The RR is a very good choice for an EDC knife...love all of mine! Thanks for sharing Tobias!
BigRedEDC, I’ve been carrying that RR for over a year. I bought it when I misplaced the other RR of the same make. Needless to say, the misplaced one showed up the day after I bought this one! I strop it about once a week and it does what I want it to do. Still solid as a rock. Not bad for $10! This is a pre-Daniels Family Queen Toothpick. As far as I can tell there is very little difference between the ones made during the Ontario years and the Daniels years. Either way you need to get them while you can. I haven’t heard of anyone picking up the TM. Hopefully Frost won’t scoop it up! Agreed both are great examples. Thanks for dropping by I always appreciate your feedback!
The Case has better distal taper and is thinner allowing for more flex than the Queen and its D2 tool steel, but that Queen is far nicer. Just my opinion
I think you pretty much nailed it. I happy to have both but I also feel the Queen, while it comes in second for looks, is the better knife by far. My only wish was that the powderhorn pommel on the Queen was about a 3/8 of an inch longer.
This is a pattern (or size) that I need to add to my collection. Mind you a 4" might be better as it’d be legal to carry here. I do like the ‘Case’ inlay. Both lovely knives though. Thanks for sharing. How’s the baby toothpick going? Mine’s coping surprisingly well!
I have to dissent on the Queen's handle, which I have seen on other knives as well. It looks like charred wood to me. Just my subjective " eye of the beholder."
Dang near impossible these days. They just weren't that popular and with the Queen TM now in the hands of SMKW, they have moved on to China, regrettably. Just keep checking eBay and looks for Queen collectors at swap meets.
I like the shorter bolster..
To each his own

I value your perspective on the side by side look at both toothpicks.

Both knives are very nice. Can't go wrong with that Rough Ryder.
Excellent comparison and review Sir , now if I could just find the large toothpicks for sale . Best regards to you and yours .
Enjoyed the video. I just got a #20 Queen the other day. The Winchester and Case Classics toothpicks all have the longer bottom bolster.
Jack Cantrell, true about the bolster. You’re going to love that #20. It’s a great knife. Thanks for dropping by. I appreciate the feedback!
Great comparison, really like the overall look of the Case, the shield alone is just awesome, :)

Love the case letters on the scale, both are awesome

Great tackel box knife..l bought a old unusded case tooth pick...20 dollars..ill put it in my box....great vidio...

@@jonesy2234 Thank you. I found the information in the video Tobias linked above.
ACSB= amber cut stag bone. I have the Congress pattern in ACSB. My favorite of all my knives. The amber color is just beautiful.

I have a queen just like that.
Did you ever do a "medium" toothpick. I prefer blades of about 3 inches. I do not yet own a toothpick.
Does a T-Pick ever come with a locking mechanism, as far as you know? Thank you.
nice video , where can you get queen toothpick knives , not much info online

Looks like Case went yard on this one,, (imho)
John Waddington, oh yeah! And then some! It’s really hard not to appreciate the way they did that shield! Thanks for dropping by and for the feedback!
🤘🤠
You're all over the Toothpicks! No doubt you're a scholar and a gentleman! My hat goes off to you, good sir!
Don't like the case as much as the Raging Bull
I have a complete collection of 5" Raging Bull Guardian Angel Toothpicks. They are great.
