I had so much fun at the Pelikan Hub! My brother and I are already planning to come back next year. My favorite autumn inks are Noodler's Cayenne and Fox, and Diamine Sherwood Green.
Thanks for the shimmer tips and tricks! Perhaps I will hold onto and use my Hub bottle after all . . . that's if I can find a suitable pen in my collection, the broadest I have is a medium.
Great show. I love seeing all the vintage pens. I tend towards browns in the fall. My new favorite is Taccia Tsuchi (just bought from AP!). Of course, Diamine Ancient Copper is a go to ink. I've also recently found Rober Oster African Gold is a nice golden brown. Noodler's Kiowa Pecan is also a nice shading brown.
I don't have a favorite fall-themed ink, although I do have to say that the Anderillium Flapjack Octopus Orange is a lot of fun! I know you don't carry Anderillium ink anymore, but you are the reason I originally went down that rabbit hole! My preferred green is Graf Von Faber-Castell Moss Green, which seems to transcend all seasons. Thanks for another fun show, and I hope Lisa feels better soon.
My fall inks would be.. Diamine Autumn Oak, Robert Oster Cafe Crema, J. Herbin Lie De The, Robert Oster Australis Oak, Pilot Iroshizuku Momiji, Diamine Candle light, Diamine Oxblood, and lastly Scribo Arancio di Sicilia for an orange. Love these videos every week guys!
I’m loving Dominant Industry X Wonder Pens Ginger Chicken which is very similar to Taccia Benitsuchi. These are nice orangish browns. Great advice about using shimmer inks. Lisa, I hope you feel better soon ❤️🩹
Like Lisa, my favorite autumnal inks are ones I use year-round: Wearingeul Heimdall, Diamine Red Dragon, and J. Herbin Café des Îles. Thinking about trying to get deeper into brown inks as the season goes on. (Colorverse Coffee Break is one I’ve had my eye on for a while!) Love the video - incredible editing this week! (*click*) 😊
Hi Brian and Lisa, Some nice-looking pens this week. I don't delve too much into the browns or oranges, so I would say that Diamine Ancient Copper is the closest I would have to a "Fall Favorite."
What a great podcast. I really enjoyed the educational moment. I found it super informative. I have always wanted to try shimmer inks, but have been too afraid. One of my favorite autumn inks is the Anderillium Viceroy Butterfly Orange.
Thanks for the tips about shimmer inks. Maybe they're not so scary after all... Following that thought, my favorite Autumn ink is Diamine Winter Spice. It goes well in my Benu Iced Caramel Latte, and looks great on the page. Fidgeting with the pen while thinking out the next lines is required.
My favorite fall inks are currently Diamine Autumn Oak, Noodler's Southwest Sunset, and Diamine Golden Sands. I always swirl my shimmer inks vortex style before inking. This is the quickest method I've found that mixes the ink but doesn't cause bubbles. I used to lava lamp it but got impatient 😅 One of my son's science lessons gave me this great idea. Wonderful episode as always :)
Ink favorites for fall: Diamine Autumn Oak, Diamine Oxblood, Colorverse Coffee Break, Kaweco Summer Purple and Diamine Classic Green - just to name a few.
Hey, Lisa, you look amazing. I love these pen tv episodes. I own the Sailor 1911L Wicked Witch of the West (medium fine) and it is one of my best writing tools, highly recommend examining it in sunlight, or moonlight, as it has a gorgeous witchy luster to it.
Wow Fall is my favorite season and there are so many inks to choose. Diamine Autumn Oak, Dominant Industries Autumn Oak, Iroshizuku Yama-guri, Van Diemens Mad Half-hour to name a few.
Fall ink fave is Caran D’Ache Organics/Chromatics Brown and I am using it in my latest pen at Pilot 74 SFM Nib (used or maybe new no box or papers purchased this fall from Anderson Pens and currently happily using it up here in Canada. I will typically pull out Montblanc and Pelikan Red’s. I own no yellows and just a small bottle of Diamine pumpkin orange.
Great episode! Unfortunately, I'm still a single pen & ink guy. Though with that said, my dream setup that would be so perfect for right now would be a Pilot Custom 823 with a brown ink. Have a great week!
Hi Lisa and Brian. I don’t really change inks with the seasons. I use the same inks year round. Having said that, I am using Sheaffer brown ink in my Estie Honeycomb to see if will have any effect on reducing staining.
I have been exploring browns since August, mostly Diamines such as Autumn Oak, Chocolate and Winter Spice which look particularly lovely on creme paper. But for October I have added Pumpkin and Pumpkin plus a bit of Citrus Ice for some shimmer 😁. I made the mistake of shimmer ink in a fine nib when I was new to fountain pens. 😂 Definitely stick to medium or more for the shimmer.
Thank you for mentioning this, indeed, Atlanta Pelikan Hub was cancelled from the consequences of Helene. Waiting eagerly for next year! Oranges for fall. Diamine Pumpkin comes to mind.
Speaking of shimmer ink, my go-to autumn ink is Diamine Golden Sands. I also really like Taccia Tsuchi for a nice shading brown. I am a religious recycler of Brian’s jokes. Nice idea to do a FP tip. I’m trying to figure out is the shimmer ink is the agitator or the agitatee.
I don't use inks be season and even seldom change colors. I have one pen with Conklin Vintage Purple and one with Noodler's Hawthorne's Scarlet. I've been using those two inks in those pens for well over a year.
I don't really have a favorite fall ink, I'm just trying to use colors other than purples and blues. I do have a pen that fits my October birthstone though. Made from a Turnt Pen Co opal blank. My first independent pen maker pen.
My color palate is not influenced by the seasons. It is influenced by my mood and how long ago I used a particular color. By coincidence fall colors earth colors are not my favorites, but one universal truth for me is “variety is the spice of life” so every once in a while I will ink orange and brown. I like Diamine ancient copper and some Monteverde fire opal. At some point I will pick up some noodler antietam only because It named for a civil war battle. Blue mica goes great in fall color inks.

I don’t do fall inks, I’m afraid they will spill. Great episode, loved the joke!

Favorite autumn ink…diamine golden honey.
My favorite fall inks would be Diamine Ochre, Pilot Sepia, and Diamine Ancient Copper.
I really like Yama budo and herbin caroube de chypre this time of the year!
Ink favorites for fall: Diamine Autumn Oak, Diamine Oxblood, Colorverse Coffee Break, Kaweco Summer Purple and Diamine Classic Green - just to name a few.
Yama budo is perfect for every season!

I tend to lean toward brown inks as Autumn hits, though Kobe #11 orange is a great “fall color” ink.

My favorite brown is inked in two of my pens with two different nib sizes. Diamine chocolate brown.
Pumpkin Cake by Monteverde USA because, well, the name says it all!

Where are the Atlanta foundation pen addicts? I mean hobby enthusiasts? I’m just south of the city and sorta newbie, since January. 😮

I liked that joke 🎉 I’ll take it.
My go-to Autumn is black, consider it a Goth theme. I am with Lisa, one ink all-year round, lazy like Lisa.
I don't really have a favorite fall ink, I'm just trying to use colors other than purples and blues. I do have a pen that fits my October birthstone though. Made from a Turnt Pen Co opal blank. My first independent pen maker pen.
I’m currently writing with Iroshizuku fuyu-gaki. Later in the fall I’ll switch to Herbin Lie de The. Pelikan golden beryl is fun for accents
SBRE Brown - The Man - The Myth - The Ink
diamine autumn oak, taccia sabimidori, daAttramentis document brown, monteverde iced cookies, Robert Oster Jade, Herbin perle Noir, R&k Sepia
