Partly because of Hollywood movies & also because people who've lived abroad, saved for a year & come to Kenya over Christmas also love to 'fake' the lifestyle. So, we come thinking that money is flowing & just living abroad means all your problems are solved. I would say, don't trust social media & the flashy lifestyle you see from people. Many of them aren't genuine with what they've done to get the stuff they're flaunting. It's the same in Kenya, there are many people who drive expensive cars but it's not clear how they're able to afford them. We simply need to have more realistic expectations. Abroad isn't heaven, but it isn't the worst place to live either. As for having Kenyan friends, I'd say choose them wisely. Not everyone will destroy you, but if you're not careful you will end up a mess. Same with friends from other countries. Choose your friends wisely & they will build you up instead of destroying you
