Not sure why it wasn't a big hit. It reached #29 on the Billboard Hot 100. I've made it to 62 years of life, and this music is missed dearly. Rock today doesn't meet the level of Rock in the 70's and 80's. Now artists are doing covers of anything. Just the other day, I heard a cover of a Phil Collins song. It was okay in a sucky way. I miss the 80's!
Why do think that it's underrated? It was a Top 30 hit when it came out, a Number 3 hit on the rock chart, has nearly 4 million views, and is included on their greatest hits collections. I think it's rated just right. Great song, and one of my favorites from this band.
it got a lot of radio play in 1981 but their album did not have another really good radio hit that year because grace was not lead singer for this band in 1981.
They played at my college back in late '88 or early '89. My girlfriend at the time wasn' thrilled to see them but I convinced her to go. Front row standing at the edge of the stage. He sang the first verse direcly to her and Craig played the solo right in front of her. It worked. She smooth wore me out that night after. And this has been my favorite song of his ever since.

Life’s lessons are learned in the real world, on the job.
Hope is eternal.
Man, this song really takes me back. This song should be in everyone's driving music mix. Mickey Thomas. Legendary!
better than Steve Perry, (who sounds like a clam)
unfortunately these guys get lumped in with the "corporate rock" label of groups like Journey, Styx" and those bands, when these guys were making straight ahead, crank it rock & roll!
and I saw an interview from 2001 with Paul Kantner where however political he was at the time, he didn't seem to regret this period of the band one bit, which is admirable considering (RIP)
^^^ Was Paul complaining about the music? This was a great song.
Fun pop music, no more no less.
Just seeing those brief clips of Grace Slick gives me a chill. What a legend among legends. What a classic song. They got it right the very first time.
Rest In Peace Paul Kantner. May you find your way back.
+tryithere When did he pass??
Andy Smith
January.
The music mags should've made more mention of his groups' music & what he left - shameful.
Amen.
one good thing about death.........
it rejects no one
The way GRACE is the background vocal is a testament to her humility in the wake of her lead singer who just kill,s it.
Why do I cry everytime I hear this. I'm looking for a reason. Oh there it is because it jams, it's sentimental and I love it. This version absolutely wails too.just watch Gracie, she is my hero
You cry because of what it means to you.
Pure emotional 80s music, crying because that was probably the best year’s of your life.
tremendous vocal range !!!!!!!!!!!!!......craig chaquico :underrated guitar player !!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup. Craig was just hanging out in the old Boston Garden. I wanted to talk to him. Unfortunately, I was too shy to approach him. He rocked the house.
This is what rock should sound like!

Why is this song so underrated? This is an amazing song 🎵 😍
Got that right 🤓🤔
Exactly!👍💯
Because of all the crappy other songs that Starship made.
July 2, sitting out in the listening to this. I still love this song.
this song rocked back then and still does today, just a straight forward rock in your face song....love it

Find your way back 04/26/2024 ✌️👍

They played at my college back in late '88 or early '89. My girlfriend at the time wasn' thrilled to see them but I convinced her to go. Front row standing at the edge of the stage. He sang the first verse direcly to her and Craig played the solo right in front of her. It worked. She smooth wore me out that night after. And this has been my favorite song of his ever since.
That’s great!
Great song, Great band! Nothing like the 70's &80's !!!
Oh lord, simply love this song 🎧
christian over tones in it ~Lost sheep come home
Most epic love song ever..... ❤️
CC is the man on guitar!!!
80’s music was the best can’t deny that 😊😊😊😊😊
And the 70s and some of the 60s.❤❤😂😂
65 - 75, the best period in my opinion
I always felt Paul Kantner never got the credit he deserved as an outstanding guitar talent.
Props For Ainsley Dunbar the Drummer...Anyone???
Ainsley is EASILY the most underrated drummer in Rock history.
Ainsley Dunbar one of the all time great drummers. Love his drums tone.
Also on still of the night
Air drum
Journey drummer as well plenty of the top groups.
I met a backup singer/guitarist for Starship n SF in the 90's. He sang this song for me perfectly. Taken by cancer in his early 30's. Great guy.
Mickey Thomas had a voice out of this world he had some serious pipes going on one hell of a vocalist
This is the music that got me through the 80s' and 90"s and I still listen to it ........ ON VINYL!!!!!!
This song has always given me goosebumps.
It's so joyous even though it's about heartbreak!
That guitar work is sick! 2:50 or so wow that’s amazing
