I'll always have respect for the way Chris Reeve delivers the line "Miss Lane...I never lie" and how Margot Kidder perfectly reflects the impact and dignity such a simple sentence has.
Yes I love that scene. When Reeve says that line you absolutely believe him. At Superman's core is his honesty and goodness, and Reeve captures that so perfectly in all of his Superman films.

One of the things I remember the most is the emotional scene of Clark saying goodbye to his mother in the wheat field. It's an amazing scene, with William's swelling, emotional music as the camera moves across the top of the wheatstalks and then dollys up into the air. Remarkable.
One scene I admire the most is when Superman left Jimmy Olsen on the ground and then flies off, that flight scene really made me believe a man can fly.
The part after Clark becoming Superman through the revolving door and a pimp notices him saying "Say jam, WOOOOOO !!" Supes: Excuse me Pimp: That's a BAD OUTFIT, WOOOOOO !" (while Superman shooting up in the air)
I think the best thing is at the end of the movie when he is up flying looks into the camera and smiles like he is telling everyone thanks for coming. Christopher Reeves will always be the best Superman there ever was or will be. They don't make heros like that anymore although the Marvel movies do come close.
I honestly enjoyed your picks for the best moments of this amazing Superman film. I especially loved your number 1 pick because it is a scene that best represents Superman.
I did enjoy the scene when he saved Lois Lane but one of my favorite scenes is when Superman is saved from the Kryptonite and flys through the ceiling and has the perfect form flying towards the screen. Superman flys at a extreme speed to catch up to the missile. But again his firm and posture is perfect.
There are so many great scenes in the first one.The one part that frightened me was seeing the juries heads as Zod, Ursa, and Non we're facing trial. Some of those faces were frightening. You also got to hand it to Gene Hackman and Ned Beatty too, Otis was the foil! Too bad they didn't bring Ned back for Superman 4. The movie would've turned out fine had he came back
Yes I really enjoyed the interactions between Hackman, Beatty and Valerie Perrine in the subway station. The scenes on Krypton were stunning, and the trial was definitely a standout!
John Williams paced around Spielberg's garden when he was asked to do the soundtrack to Schindler's List. He told Spielberg he wasn't good enough to do the soundtrack. Spielberg replied, "I know, but everyone good enough is dead!"
I couldn't wait to see the movie because I was wondering if the affects would be better than the George Reeves TV series that I only saw it through reruns. I thought the Krypton scenes were a little bit drawn out and I couldn't wait to see Superman part's where he is seen in action. I loved the ending where he's in space and smiles the smile that everything's okay and he accomplished everything that he set out to do by saving the world.
At the last Oscars 2022 they showed 3 quick scenes from the movie to remember Donner's passing . The unveiling of the S , the take off and the flyby the secretaries window. Dose shots looked photo real.
@@7bestthings Yes , it was during the memoriam segment. Each deceased artist was given about 5 seconds . Out of all of Donner's films they just used those scenes to reflect on his career.
Great review of my favorite film of all time. Well spoken, sir.

Yes, that is a beautifully shot scene, that one stood out to me as well. Richard Donner does such an amazing job! Thanks for your thoughts Pete G!
Oh yeah. It just cries Norman Rockwell
One of the most heartbreaking scenes was when Clark's Earth father, Jonathan Kent, dies suddenly after having his heart to heart talk with him.
Til this day the GOAT of Superman films hands down!!!
Thanks for the reaction, Mike Grady. It's amazing how this movie seems to get better over time!

@@7bestthings I got mine on Amazon. There is 2 movies in this set: the 2000 special edition and the extended version which last 3 hours and 8 minutes.
In the intro when the Superman name appears, the music sounds like it's saying his name if You listen carefully.
Good insight! Thanks!
Agreed. Richard Donner has also mentioned that in an interview I watched.
John Williams and London Symphony orchestra music and Performance . OUTSTANDING

Superman was “artwork,” composed of multiple art forms.
That's a good point, motion pictures are an art form that combines the talents of hundreds of different artists into telling one story.
