  • I hope this video helps any of you who have been hoping for S-Cinetone in your Zv-1s, E-10s and Sony B-cams. After some trial and error I have come up with a profile that closely represents S-cinetone in the ZV-1. Please let me know if you would do any modifications to the custom PP I setup.

Brother, I can't even tell the difference between the two profiles. You've absolutely nailed it. Well done. I also bought a Sony ZV-1 as a secondary cam, with the intention of getting a full frame. But then I realized that story is king and I have everything I need right now to tell the stories I want to and build the skill w/ the ZV-1 as my primary, and then use those skills to maximize full frame in the future :) thanks for helping me with those skills!

You have nailed this profile!! Thanks so much for doing the hard work in making this profile. I'd recently purchased a Sony ZV-E10 to use as a light weight camera on real estate shoots. I'd used HLG-3 on my first couple of shoots and struggled with the exposure and colour grading. I was starting to regret my purchase, but after using your profile I'm loving shooting with the ZV-E10 now. You've made life so much easier for me!!
I used your profile today for the first time on two shoots and I have just finished editing them. They both look great straight out of camera with minimal grading to do. Just enough dynamic range to pull in the windows as these often have to be let go a little. It works great!! Thanks so much. Really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!!

I have just tested your setting out and have noticed that dark areas or black clothes solarize heavily. I think it's because the black value has been lowered too much. If you set the black level to 0, it can be reduced in post-production without any loss. but the color representation is very pleasant, you bother the rest of your settings. Thanks Potter

Hi Jo. While taking my ZV1 with your S cinetone setting, I had a look on other UA-camrs and their ideas for emulating S Cinetone. They had roughly the same values as your exceipt the Color mode : Still for you; Pro for them. I went to the ZV-1 manual to understand the difference but read that Still gives adapted Colors when Gamma is set to Still » Does it mean that Still is Color Mode does not work if Gamma is not set to Still ? I see a difference on the footage when I check each, but can’t really assess which one is most « S ciné » looking

@@thefilmalliance You say set knee to manual but when you do that you need to manually set it below or it could be locked on almost anything
You can try 100% and 0 slope for a start.
This version is pretty good and it looks similar applied to Rx100v and A7iii
On the A7Siii I actually don't usually use it in favour of sLOG3 as there's lot of support in the form of LUTs etc for that out there.

Brother what is the best camera for videography and content creation when it comes to natural cinematic colour.. without the need of editing or Colour grade it on software editor. Like i just prefer a camera where I can set the perfect settings and shoot then upload it on social media without colour grading.

Hey Alex, S-Cinetone is a color matrix that was first introduced in Sony's professional cinema camera lineup and has now been incorporated into their consumer and prosumer camera models. It is designed to deliver rich colors and natural skin tones while retaining ample latitude for post-production flexibility. I think it would work well for what you're doing. You can look up my cine 2 Picture profile that works in the ZV-1 mark 2 as a good S-Cinetone alternative.. Its in the description of my recent video the ZV-E10 II vs the ZV-E10
