I just loved seeing my favorite maples A. p. Ukigumo, and A. Shirasawanum autumn moon and others. A very enjoyable tour of your maples, thankyou so much.

I just got 'Yayoi Gasa' from MrMaple's limited sale today! I was looking for a video on it but couldn't find anything.
Glad to see it here. I'd love to see a cultivar highlight on it.

Question; if you had all the land one could imagine, would you still do containers or put in the ground?

I would do both. I would still use containers when the trees are young. Some dwarves and delicate trees would also stay in pots.

Could you please tell us what you are using in your container mix? Thank you

It's my own mix with compost that I make. I plan on doing an episode on that but it likely won't be until late fall or winter. This is when I repot my plants. I will be able to go over everything and explain it better then.

how young were your maples when you got them?

It varies but I purchase the majority of my maples in either 1 gallon pots or liners.

Is that ice breaker? The Abies Koreana? Looks like it but yours is rather large.

You showed “mystic mikawa” but it looks a lot like “japanese princess” are they similar or do you know and is it available online?

They are both seedlings of Mikawa yatsubusa. Japanese Princess has larger leaves and is more of a dark pink and yellow while Mystic Mikawa is a pumpkin orange when it flushes. I'm not sure who has them right now. Mystic is a little harder to find.

Do you ever switch from ground to pot? Or just keep them in pots?

    • @maplecollector4398
      @maplecollector4398  4 роки тому +1

Yes, I have maples in the ground too.

Maple Collector just curious. Do you prefer one or the other? Thanks

They are easier to grow in the ground. It really depends on the situation though.

Maple Collector I’ve got some in the ground I want to pull and put in pots. They are getting to the point where if I don’t get them into pots then they are going to be pretty large, and I don’t want to leave any behind if I have to move.. I don’t own the land just space rent.

It should be fine but wait until at least November.

No idea how you keep all those names straight. I’m just an Acer guy and I have trouble with those

I've been memorizing animal and plant genus species names for most of my life. The funny thing is that it usually takes me a few introductions to remember a person's name.
