I realize this is a year old, but there is plenty of inspiration and information for right now! Proof that a beautiful plan for spring never goes out of style!
I love geraniums. Every spring when I was a little girl I would accompany my mother to all her favorite greenhouses. Our car was saturated with the scent of geraniums and tomato plants on the way home. My mother worked very hard in the public and her garden was her haven. I learned so much from her. The fragrance of freshly tilled rich soil takes me back. My mother died in April 21 years ago. My precious friend, who is a florist designed the most beautiful casket spray of snapdragons, roses, tulips....a beautiful tribute!
You definately do NOT have too much in your garden.I have much, much more.Thrifted, garage sales and roadside freebies.I love your garden !! I love all the things in it.I'm on the lookout now for 2 arms to put in my garden too😅.Watching from South Australia 🌺🥀
Love the step by step process! And love the papa bear, mama bear, and baby bear analogy for the pots - I’ll always remember that! Thank you Linda! 🪴🪴🌷💕
I love listening to you chatter as you go about. Something very comforting. Crazy times we live in and then we have you. Thank you Linda. For all you do to inspire me.
I have also many scented geraniums for many years. I overwinter them at the attic. These days I give them completely fresh soil. Cut them back and re use the clippings as cuttings. A nice give away to friends as a remedie against mosquitos. I have about 5 different varieties but 15 plants , big ones in total. I display them at the roof terrace ...in full sun ... they are happy there.
When I pot up a new plant I always put old newspaper in the bottom of the pot and then put fresh soil on top, plus slow release fertilizer. When I need to move a pot it’s not so heavy. My plants thrive.😊
I'm so blessed to have you in my life Linda Vater your such a blessing 🙂🙏😊😌💗💕 to me A Filifina Canadian One of my bucket list To see you in person And enjoy your garden That boxwood garden is awesome!💕
Thank you, Linda and it’s definitely not too long - I don’t mind the details. I was surprised that you were able to place both geraniums in that one pot. And what a bonus to add that vibrant heucharella in the same pot. Just gorgeous. Love from sunny Sydney, Australia.
The encouragement and satisfaction of your gardening tips are such a boost! We are slowly replacing plant loss from the Texas arctic freeze, having to select different shrubs and plants due to unavailability. At the same time, I am loving some of the fresh, young life to our landscape. Stewart makes me laugh, which we all need! 😄🙋♀️
Only just discovered you on youtube and have been so enjoying your advice & inspiration. One container tip my mother-in-law passed on to me, and that you may have already mentioned in other videos, is to fill the bottom half (especially when filling a large container) with broken pieces of styrofoam packing material. It is extremely light weight, fills up space and (if it's broken up into smaller pieces) does not inhibit drainage. It makes it really easier to move large pots and is FREE. I save it up all year for use in the spring when I'm filling new containers. Thanks again, really enjoy watching!
Hi Linda! I never thought of using scented geraniums. But now ........I am going to give them a try!! Thanks Linda for all your tricks and gardening ideas!! See you tomorrow!! Hi Stewart!! Hugs!
Loved ALL of the details!! Seeing how you envision a plan for an area and execute the plan is sooo helpful. Thank you for allowing us to see the process unfold! Love your thematic and color palette for this year. Happy Saturday to you and Stewart!!☀️🌷☀️
I love geraniums. I have had a few scented geraniums over the years...they are very hard to find! I had a really beautiful one that I combined with some pretty trailing plumbago and I really liked that look. I love the idea of a connoisseur of scented geraniums! I think your garden is going to be different this year. A softer look somehow. What a joy you are to so many, dear Linda. I used to love red geraniums but I adore the corals and oranges and pale pinks this year.
Looking forward to your garden product line. Those hanging baskets look nice and deep! Saw your face on a display at Lowe's too. Seems you are a busy lady these days🌼
I too love geraniums and the scented ones are incredible. I had a Rose scented one that turned into a hedge. It was beautiful and so fragrant. Nothing like it.
Hi Linda, I just love my pots and recently saw a tip for planting. Take the plants out of their pots and plant the pots firmly in the new container.then just twist the planted pots gently to remove and plop in the new plant . While the plants are waiting I just send them to the plant spa ( bucket of water) for a few minutes. Thank you for all the lovely ideas just need a little bit of your sunshine here in N.Ireland. Sheila
I could listen to you read a phone book Linda. And your videos are the best, they brighten my day! Thank you for such good content. And the cute wave from Stewart, adorable 🥰
Geraniums are my favorite plant. I got my first grow light in order to keep them blooming over winter. I take cuttings and they multiply. The problem is I keep buying more and just need more lights!
Love that Heucherella!! Gorgeous and looks great at the feet of the scented geranium. I used to collect all types of Pelargoniums and grew species types from seed. Too bad pollinating insects don’t care for them. Some good sources of scenteds, (cultivars that maybe your friend, Monica, doesn’t have in her collection) are: Goodwin Creek Gardens in Williams, Oregon and Sandy Mush Nursery in North Carolina. Most large mail order herb nurseries have an extensive listing of scented Pelargoniums.
Perfect video for me as I am strictly a container gardener Zone 6. That viburnum against that blue sky!!!!!!! I am really loving all the new plants/colors - sorry for the reason why, but you are doing a great job changing it up and trying new things and I am inspired. Really love the bright golden greens with the pinks. Really can't wait for your QVC show. You have something unique - putting collections together that will look good once you get it delivered!
Linda thank you so much for the tips regarding what zone to consider for your plants when growing them in containers. This will help me greatly as I do container garden with perennials💓
Loved loved this video! It’s wonderful to see the whole process and to hear you talk about why you made your plant and pot choices! Can’t wait to see it all come together! Great tips on reusing the old soil!
Ohhhh, those snakeskin boots!! 😍 I’ve been potting plants for the past two days (including geraniums, caladiums, dicondra, creeping Jenny and calibrochoa). I love how you have the papa, mama and baby pots! You are an inspiration.
I just love your videos Linda! Greetings from Sydney Australia - a different climate but your gardening tips are great for me here too And your enthusiasm is inspiring!
The scented geraniums with the huechera is STUNNING! The QVC show is on my calendar and I need to get on QVC and make sure my ordering information is current. ❤️ I can’t wait and since I name drop you all the time to my hubs and son...they practically feel like Insiders too!
Love this informative video! Especially the tips in putting together groups of pots! I was also rather relieved to see how you are reusing old potting soil. You actually are doing exactly what I have been doing for years, mixing new soil with old soil and adding compost or fertilizer to it to up the nutrition a bit. That just always seems like common sense to me but it seems you hear everyone else saying you should never ever reuse old soil. I agree with you, if the plant that came from the soil was healthy then there's no reason not to use the old soil. Thanks for showing us real life, down to earth but beautiful garden tips and tricks!
Thanks JoHanna! I love it when people like you with real life real world experience as affirm what I say.... Because I know what works for me, but I’m always insecure about what the experts say LOL!
Love, love, love! Beautiful video! The weather looks awesome, you look beautiful and Stewart stole the show with his wave at the end! Thank you for sharing!!
For those of us who are not fans of QVC...You can find large garden hanging baskets like that in the Frontgate and Grandin Road Catalogs. Also they are available at Ballard Designs.
I’ve grown geraniums on my porch for fifty years. I’m going to try them on the edge of my shade garden this year as well. I lost my scented geraniums in the tornado, but, I’m ready for some more. 😊
you can put the old dirt and mix it with vermiculite and some manure and slow-release fertilizer, I did that last year when we were in lockdown, I had beautiful flowers in my pots all grown from seed
You are so adorable, your boots...😍 I have Iearn so much from you, even do everyone praise my garden, I need to learn more. Thank you for sharing😀🍀🌼🌷🌸🌺
Linda ,Linda,Linda, you are as busy as a bee 🐝, my favorite seasonal garden center will open up the end of April and I can’t wait to get some Angelwing Begonias and geraniums and and and........

Linda went and found something I don’t already have in my garden that now I must have.... Scented geraniums.... Love those huge hanging baskets in your collection!!!!
I love all geraniums too. I always try to find scented ones which isn’t easy. Geraniums are so tough once the heat comes in the summer. Looking forward to seeing your finished pots❤️❤️❤️

What a wonderful video, such good ideas, Linda! You are so generous to share your tips with us, and you look so cute!
Many years ago I collected scented geraniums and could find many varieties at local nurseries. I haven't seen any for sale in many years.
The mega hanging basket! 🤩🥰

I found SL Baby gems at Walmart this week. I squealed! I’m glad the qvc line comes out next month because I’ve already spent too much on my garden this month Lol. Can’t wait! ❤️
Hey Ms pretty Linda.. So many wonderful tips.Thank you. I am going to try some geraniums. Can not wait for outcome.❤🙏
You've totally introduced me to scented geraniums and have peaked my interest. My only knowledge of geraniums are what we refer to as "council plants" as in, they're the types of flowering plants local councils plant on nature strips and around town for a splash of colour. They can withstand the Aussie heat, they're quite draught tolerant (or at least the version I'm thinking of is) but I've never felt like they looked nice or even had a nice scent... so I'm so, so curious about scented geraniums! I've never heard of them and must keep an eye out for them at our local garden centres! 👀
