I still doubt my salvation. But i pray for the Holy Spirit to open my eyes and help me to be sure of my condition.

Most people think they are going to heaven because they think they are good. But there is no one good but God. People usually compare themselves with other people, not a Holy God. God is Holy and we are not, that is why we need a savior, we are all sinners. Praise God, that Jesus came and took our sin upon Himself, He died for those that believe, thank You Lord!!

Amen, amen, amen, @lorettarobards257! There is NONE righteous, no, not one! ONLY the Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16 KJV) is GOOD! We can neither earn nor do we deserve eternal salvation, but our Lord Jesus paid our sin debt in full when He hung bleeding and dying on Calvary's cross, was buried and rose triumphantly from the dead on the 3rd day (1 Corinthians 15:1 - 4 KJV) Praise ye HIM!!!

I believe most people fall into the fourth category (most people believe they are saved, but they are not saved).
Proverbs gives three kind of persons the wise, the simple, the fool. I always go to what God teaches.
In Revelation 12 my pastor teaches three kind of angels - ones who went with God, ones who went with Satan, and ones that could careless-
Then go with these verses which says there are 4 different kinds of people based on the "soil" of their hearts.......
Luke 8:5-8 NASB95 - (5) “The sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell beside the road, and it was trampled under foot and the birds of the air ate it up. (6) “Other seed fell on rocky soil, and as soon as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. (7) “Other seed fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out. (8) “Other seed fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as great.” As He said these things, He would call out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
This is focused on the NT where Christ Jesus touches earth for His ministry.

I know am saved I've never doubted
“And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

I so wish I would have found RC at least a decade ago.

You are saved because Jesus Christ saved you. What he did on the cross was enough to save you fully. Trust, look, and call on him
From the Lord Jesus's point of view in Heaven looking down upon mankind in Creation, He sees only two kinds of people...
The objects of His wrath destined for everlasting destruction.
The objects of His mercy destined for everlasting glory.
So, then, understanding the eternal Gospel of our Lord Jesus hinges on knowing who those two kinds of people are...

A very common pathway to false assurance is the Altar-call -> sinner's prayer -> then hearing OSAS over and over until sanctification becomes insignificant.
Also known as decisionism.

The only way to be assured of salvation is if ultimately God reconciles all to Himself. Thankfully this is what the Bible teaches and what many of the early Church Father taught and as a result turned the World upside down. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the Sin of the World.
Hello Stephen, how then do you understand Jesus harsh warnings? Like those who will come to Him saying they have done many mighty works in His name and He will say depart from me for I never knew you?
@nchunter8918 Indeed there is judgement for all. The Lord does not recognise the people we become outside of Him. However this cannot be equated to eternal conscious Torment which achieves nothing and denigrates God's character.
All God's punishments are restorative (kolasis) and not retributive (timoria) so we are commanded to repent in this age if we do not the fire of God's love will purge us from all sin and wickedness in the age to come.
Ultimately the Gospel is Good News for all.I suggest reading 'On the Incarnation' by Athanasius as a starting point to understand the Faith once delivered.

Loved it although a slight disagreement with the bank analogy of how to learn the fake over the real. I worked with a manager who spent years in a bank and he said that the way the tellers were trained was to have them in the money room for several weeks and thus they knew the real so well that when a counterfeit bill came into their hands they knew it instantly. Would love to hear from other bank people on the feed to check the validity of this. Having said that I highly respect RC Sproul and however this turns out - will not change that high opinion that I have of him.
Paul, in Romans 8:17-27, gives the Christian a moral certainty of our salvation, i.e., our ontic state of existence before God. For an absolute certainty in a conditioned universe, that takes a private revelation from God before He calls us to our practical judgment.
There are 10 kinds of people - those who know how to count using the binary system and those who don't.
I don't agree with number 3 because I didn't see anything in the Bible that says people may not know they're saved. Even those who were carnal in Corinth never doubted their salvation. If anyone can show me the Bible, I would be grateful.

THE WORST PEOPLE IS THE NUMBER 4. THEY DONT EVEN ACCEPT TO DISCUSS ABOUT IT.
Actually they study genuine money so much they know the fakes when they see them.
Only, R.C. could take the entire time explaining the obvious and then end in the last 5 seconds saying that he'll actually explain the reason for the entire post in the next lesson. And the site giving NO WAY to find that lesson on utube with any hope to find it!!! Madness reigns supreme, typical ineptitude. Whoops my bad, they have a list in the comments section, but only if you fork over money for the rest of the program. So this post is really just a infomercial teaser to buy further products, sure!! What a crock, con artists scam. That's why I stopped donating to the group years ago. Pay to play, on the donation mailing list for decades. Manipulative exploitation is disgusting. Not very endearing at all. It's going to be very interesting to see what actually happens to many of the Christian leaders in terms of what was really behind what motivated their " ministry".
