I'm so glad someone is finally talking about it. my switch edition runs TERRIBLY. It constantly crashes, freezes, has bad framerate and render distance, and is SOOO buggy. As a veteran console player this annoys me to this day that the console version went from the most bug-free version to the buggiest, especially on switch. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially with 1.18 on the horizon
I've had the switch version for about three months, not a single crash, bug, or performance error. It sometimes does take a bit to load chunks, but only in experimental 1.18. I don't know what else to say, just wanted to mention that it runs flawlessly on my switch, although my switch sometimes sounds like a fan
I've only had one issue on my switch and its that if a conduit, beacon, rain, and particle effects are all on screen, the game has a small chance to freeze for a little bit and ive played for 2.5 years now. The only reason toycat and other people are having common issues is that they don't take care of their switches
I’ve had minecraft on my switch for 3 or 4 years now and the only issue is that the marketplace doesn’t load up properly. I’ve had it crash but when it has I haven’t closed the game for a couple days it was only on sleep mode
I played minecraft on the switch for about a year, and it has never crashed on me. Performance is only bad for me if there’s 1000 armor stands in one location.
The thing that hurts me the most about this version is how clear it is that this is the mobile version, and yet is being sold for about 5x the price. The marketplace is a horror to search, and my account disconnects and I have to reconnect every time I log in.
@@sinadiatta9905 I got to wonder what sort of logic is running through your head. It’s so bizzare to me that you’d assume this isn’t the first action anyone with half a brain would take if they had the option. Maybe it took you a while to figure out that a game will run better on better hardware?
I would agree with you if you posted this before the most recent patch because in that patch they fixed an issue that made the game basically never load. (It literally used to take me about 6 hours due to crashing and the time it took to load the main menu.) (As a Minecraft Switch player with 2000+ hours.)
What in the world were you doing wrong then? Over 3,000 hours and never had such an issue even on my OG unit which is ~50% slower to load to title than the Lite and -01 units.
@@RunicSigils my survival world is the world I spent the most time in and takes about 400 mb. I'm pretty this world is what make it take so long to load. Though, I'm pretty sure everyone's Minecraft on Switch can act different bc my half of my friends said they didnt have any issues and half of them did. After this patch, we ALL agree the game is significantly better. Infact we used to joke about how bad it was and how we literally couldn't even play it unless we wanted to potentially wait several hours for just a chance to play. "Atleast this game loads faster than Minecraft!!!" "Atleast this game doesn't crash as much as Minecraft!!" "At least this game works!!!!!!" "Legacy Switch Edition was better." And calling Minecraft "Loading Screen Simulator".
This was happening to me before a while ago and it was definitely because I had way to many worlds. I deleted all my worlds and my game went back to normal
@@PurPurDot Why should you have to buy a whole other controller to carry when the entire point is you expect the controller that come with the system to work
For all the people saying "it works fine for me", that isn't his point. His point is that Minecraft on just an average phone is cheaper, better optimized, and performs better than a Switch, so how is it worth it?
Bedrock edition can't run on Switch, yet somehow 4J version of Minecraft this version replaced used to run perfectly. They replaced very good version with crappy Bedrock edition, and they don't care - as long as they can sell you those sweet, sweet minecoins.
Mario skins only being available to Switch users makes some amount of sense (as much as I wish it wasn't the case), but Switch users not being able to use those skins on cross-platform multiplayer is Patrick Star level stupid.
Sadly minecraft on ns likes to crash on me alot in my world due to it having tons of builds. my world is 752mb in size. in order to get the game to quit crashing as much, i had to take down/remove all my redstone builds. now it only lags when qs at a fps of 0 or 1 for about 2mins-5mins almost ever qs, atleast it doesnt fully crash now
You can play mc on switch, in the same way buying lottery tickets is a good retirement strategy. Basically - it could work - but you're mostly going to be frustrated and sad.
I play in switch for about a year and it is really nice actually, never crashed at any time. Although the chunks dont load sometimes that is the only thing, I play multiplayer survival with 4 other people and we have huge builds and it runs fine
There are great Switch ports out there (most impressive probably being Witcher 3), but Microsoft majorly dropped the ball on Switch Minecraft, which is especially disappointing seeing as how great of a console the Switch is, i would really have loved to take Minecraft on the go without Touch controls along with Breath of The Wild and Mario Odyssey, but sadly I cant if I don't want pain. The Mario map is still incredible though
I started playing Minecraft on the Switch multiplayer with my partner. We both found ourselves facing similar issues in this video. When we made our World a Realms server though it ran much much better. Chunks load more smoothly and the frame rate is also more stable and usable. We still get false starts often when booting the game, with it failing to log in to our account or find our Realms server, but switching to Realms made playing on Switch possible at all at least.
This is a reason I still play console, it has minimal bugs, good frames, official mini game severs. WHY was it discontinued? It was the best version… Probably also the most stable
@Avery. no. It’s made on the same engine as Java, yes, but it’s similar. Also it’s not dumbed down because it actually has a good multiplayer system, so you don’t have to find a bunch of different websites and pay to make servers for you snd your friends. On console edition, you join your world, snd your friend is able to join you.
@@Dark-xv9iz ? I said they discontinued it so people from every platform can play with each other. My friend is playing on Xbox sometimes, and sometimes I’m playing on ps4 or switch. Now because of bedrock, we can join each other. And it’s not like you can’t play the other console version, you can play it whenever you want. However yes they probably didn’t have to discontinue it, they could’ve done both.
For me, the portability + the controls are enough to make it my primary version of Minecraft. It is very slow and crashes sometimes, but it’s not enough to stop my enjoyment of the game.
Minecraft on Switch is such an interesting case. I’ve clocked more hours than I can remember into it on there and from all that experience I can say the game *can* run very well and has on many occasions for me. It’s just that every time a software update comes by, one thing will see improvement but something else would break. As of right now the game is currently very stable for me and I haven’t run into any crashes or marketplace loading issues I had in the past. Unfortunately the downside this time around is that skins don’t seem to load when in multiplayer.
Even my skins wouldn’t load, but the way to fix it is first go to mange data then click software then click minecraft and scroll down to check for corrupted data and it should say there isn’t any then click re download and everything loads perfectly, don’t worry your data will still be there.
I’ve found that the best way to play Minecraft on my switch is by playing on a realm. It takes a lot of the strain off the switch itself since you’re basically streaming the game instead of playing the world natively. Far less crashing, and in the event something does go horribly wrong, I can load up a backup of the realm. It’s immensely stupid and frustrating that I have to pay an extra $4 a month to get a stable version of a game I already paid $30 for, plus the cost of my online subscription, but that’s what ended up working best for me. 🤷🏼♀️
I've had Minecraft as the first game on my Switch, it was my father's pick, I haven't experienced any crash or lag there. However, there are several times where it crashed when I played **Minecraft Dungeons**
At first, the bedrock Minecraft on Switch was perfectly fine, but recently I’ve been having horrible performance. The legacy console version was so perfect that I’ve just been playing on that
As someone who primarily plays on the switch, I agree. The switch version has very poor performance, and that's before you throw in split screen into the mix.
If mojang actually focused on performance improvements and bug fixes then the switch version would be a lot better, but apparently bees and fireflies are more important than things that actually matter such as performance
I used to always love playing Minecraft on my Switch, back in the Nintendo Switch Edition days. When Bedrock came out, it never ran amazingly, but very quickly it went from being mediocre to being outright unplayable. Online play is near impossible, going on the shop is extremely difficult, and even just loading the game takes over a minute. Whoever is in charge of Nintendo Switch QoS needs to be replaced with someone who knows what they're doing. This is Minecraft, the biggest game ever created, and it's suffering from poor performance on a game that runs on smartphones?! Eventually I was pretty much forced to stop playing Bedrock on the Switch, because it was that bad. I moved back to Nintendo Switch Edition (still has a surprisingly big community) and Bedrock Edition on my underpowered laptop (which is less powerful than the Switch mind you, ran the game flawlessly). When I got a better laptop last year, I switched to Java and haven't looked back, it reminds me of how stable the old console edition was with feature updates still.
Bedrock was a mistake. Period. I'm not saying java is the superior version or anything, I'm saying that pocket and console were both better off before they got merged into bedrock. As an old pe player I will never see those old screens again...
My cousin plays switch edition, he can play perfectly. Though he has gotten it maxed out in storage and other things, so it is good, as long as you modify it.
I don't know how to mod it yet either. As for storage... that just limits your saves. Buy a big af memory card, and not the cheapest one. Do a bit of research about them. They have different write and read speeds and such.
This version definantly doesn’t compare to console and pc but in a situation like on a road trip it is good enough to sit down and play for a couple hours regardless
It runs fine in the early stages of a world, but as soon as you want to move on to more involved projects like farms or faster means of transportation the switch is doomed to fail. I cannot handle the speed of horses and boats, the chuncks don’t load faster enought. You can forget Elytra or blue ice highways.
I’ve only played Minecraft on the switch for the past 2 years and it’s really not that bad. The only issue I come up with is the rendering is extremely slow especially when I’m on water. Other than that though I’ve never had a bug crash or any other real big issue I can think of.
I’ve been playing Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch as my main console for 2 and a half years now, and while I wasn’t really too bothered by the performance issues at first, now that my main survival world has surpassed 200 megabytes, the performance is starting to take a hit. This video made me realise just how extensive the crappy performance for Minecraft on the switch is. With the introduction of the experimental versions, it just worries me further just how terrible the performance will be once 1.18 comes out, because just walking around on the ground in a fresh world with the render distance on it’s lowest is just downright unplayable. Each chunk takes a minimum of 20 seconds to load. It’s not just down to the console’s performance either, as it can run massive games like super mario odyssey, zelda BOTW, and even third party games like dark souls remastered and subnautica, can all run at 1080p 60fps quality when docked. I’ve played all these games on switch and haven’t had any performance issues unless the switch is undocked. Someone needs to mention these performance issues with someone at Mojang, because Minecradt on the switch is becoming intolerable.
@ThatYahoo Yeah I think it might just be the bedrock developers either being lazy with their switch optimisation, or it’s my switch getting slower because I’ve had it for almost 3 years now. Minecraft on my switch was working relatively fine when I first purchased it.
Its only bcz switch has a low end processor right now. MC basically runs on processor. But if u play on a server that has better professor there is much less issues than single player world. Since i play mc on switch when im not recording, so its a not big deal for me anyway. Far better than my current phone tho!
I personally feel this video. I love minecraft, and have played the Java edition since the dawn of time. Never had major issues, and have always been pleased. My girlfriend doesn't have a PC yet and since I love to game, we thought getting minecraft on my switch would be a good way for us to connect and play together, through splitscreen. Early in the world was fine, aside from when autosaving happens, every few minutes. Blocks don't break, chunks won't load, etc etc. That's annoying but it's fine, it catches up when the autosave is done. But after throwing 30-40 hours into a world, building our home and all the bells and whistles, the world file size went up. Crashes happened every now and then, lag started to worsen, chunks loaded slower. I started to feel less enjoyment because it's hard to appreciate your builds when things start to become inconvenient to the performance. God forbid you want to travel with an elytra, she started flying into a chunk that wasn't loaded and hit a mountain and died. Then there is the wither. When the internet tells you not to bother fighting the wither, which is a part of the game intended to be done, because it will lag your game too badly, it is a problem. We had to turn on cheats to deal with it, and undo spawning it, while running at 2 fps, and voiding the gain of achievements. It's not fun and it's a problem, which sucks. Sorry for the rant.
I feel you man. Never tried the Elytra since I could already tell that it would end badly for me when the chunks load slow. So pretty much all the time
As a switch player myself, I couldn't agree more. There are an egregious amount of bugs that will cause for you to loose tons (if not all) of your progress in your world. Often just trying to pillar up, you will randomly encounter a ghost block and get pushed off, and when strip mining, often blocks appear to be broken, but after about 5 seconds reappear, suffocating you, and taking your items with. The crashing bugs are also frequent and often loose progress. The worst of all the glitches is that once you reach a certain world file size, your switch won't even let you open Minecraft (on your account). This completely locks you out of the game, and even with bug reports all over the internet, there is no way to fix this. Beyond bugs, just the general look and feel of the game is very jagged, often sides of blocks will become see-through for no reason, chunks refuse to load, and the framerate drops/lag spikes are worryingly frequent. Online is a whole other mess, but I won't get into that. I would not recommend this version to anyone unless it is there only option (as it is for me), as pretty much any other version will give you a much greater experience all around.
Weird, the only issue I've ever had with the switch version is this one specific bug about having to log in to microsoft every time the game is launched (which is a really old known reported and acknowledged bug)
Its because that you need to log your Nintendo switch account. Tip:Switch is the better console because you only pay online for a year with $20 and Xbox and PS with $80. Good fun with mc.
Got Minecraft on Switch for 50% off for the game’s 10 year anniversary, and I’ve only really played it once to check out the AMAZING Nintendo map. I feel we got our money’s worth.
I noticed that bedrock was buggier on my PS4 initially. Got it on the Switch, but haven’t experienced any bugs there other than bees not behaving as they should. So Switch is my go-to version for quite some time now.
As someone with 800+ hours on switch edition i 100% agree with everything said in this video. Although, i haven't had many spontaneous crashes, i have had item physics lag (where you throw an item and it constantly rubberbands). Still love minecraft on switch for nostalgic purposes.
In my experience the Switch version has a lot of crashing and performance issues. The world play on is pretty normal and doesn’t have 300 signs or armor stands or anything, but the frame rate still drops to about 20 most of the time. The game crashes a lot as well. It’s been like this ever since Bedrock came out on switch, I have no idea why they haven’t fixed it yet.
honestly bedrock for all consoles is downright unbearable at times but man good luck switch players i hope for the best but bedrock has been so buggy for so long that ive lost hope.
Weird, I thought oyou were on PS5 not Nintendo switch! Joke, but yeah, my friend has a switch and we play together, i got surprised at how bad the performance is
@@bhull242 it was the opposite for me. And I don't even play on big worlds and max settings. I get freezes everytime it autosaves so you can guess from that how instable it is
I've had the weird crashes that come out of nowhere. I've had the game take 15 minutes to load when you boot it, until the Nether update. I have a 4 Gb cloud backup of my Minecraft save file, despite the total of my worlds being less than 300 Mb. So no, he isn't just nitpicking. The Switch version got some serious issues, you are just one of the lucky ones who didn't encountered any of them.
Can you teach me your tricks to getting it to perform well. Before I even make it into the world I want to shut it off because of how much delay the menus have. Also out of curiosity have you played any other version of Minecraft before?
@@ThePolarb3ar I mostly gave up and play on PC now. Still try it from time to time, but i haven't tried since 1.17. To be fair the Switch version started to take far less than 15 minutes to boot up after the Nether update, though. And it ran a tiny bit smoother after i deleted the map templates bought from the store. But it still crashes all the time.
@@ThePolarb3ar ive owned 3DS Xbox 360 as well as switch but i have played a pirated version of java and the ps4 version before the better together merge
These are all really good points but the performance I've seen on my Switch has been better than on my Kindle Fire, which I think is younger than the switch and also I believe meant for gaming. The only problem I've had on my switch was it freezing and when I relogged my mule was gone. On the other side I have problems with Minecraft crashing on my Kindle, especially on severs. I have experienced lag on both platforms but I would rather play with lag than crashing
im one of the lucky few who got minecraft: nintendo switch edition.... which runs flawlessly with 0 issues. and it's legacy console so you get the nostalgia kick
You are so right toycat , when i started playing minecraft again it was on the switch and early on it felt mostly fine but after a few builds I really felt the limitations running around my main base would tank my frames and I wanted to build more and more and the thought of having less frames just made me switch to xbox and its been a much more enjoyable experience
@@JustJacob01 lol? what toycat stated he experienced the samething so its not just me! Have a wonderful rest of your day hopefully you feel better soon!
I haven’t had any more issues on Switch than I have seen on Xbox One, but it’s definitely not great at times for no reason. Also when there are issues Mojang never fixes them like ever.
If you would want experience the Nintendo switches Minecraft beautifully, you'd need/want to turn off the following: screen animations; beautiful skies+clouds; lowering the render distance; fancy bubbles; (dock it, like have it on) with at least most of these off then you'd be able to lots of builds, and have a full world of friends 5-8 players.
Me seeing this video after playing 2000 hours of it and having no issues other than the whole loading time (45 minutes) which was recently fixed and chunk loading on a world that had 5 people, all about a million cords away, on a 3gb world.
@D4cee, I have 2000 hours and when this started I had 1200 which is mostly why, it went from 15 to 45 overnight and the same happened to two of my friends at different times lol.
I have Minecraft on my Nintendo Switch, and if I'm gonna be honest, it doesn't have much bugs, performance issues, or fps drops, normally I would get a consistent 30 FPS which is fine for me, but if there are a lot of builds or a lot of players around me, the FPS drops are more noticeable, and as a feature of bedrock edition, there is a featured servers tab, which features about 7 different servers, and servers are loaded with players, so you can imagine to FPS drops on there, but overall I think buying it was worth it, I have over 900 hours on it and I've had a fun time playing on it.
I dont think this is a very good representation of the game. It depends on who you are. If you want a plethora of options, mods, and features, yes this isn't right for you. But if you want a version of the game to play on the go, maybe with some siblings or friends, it's great. I've not personally experienced many issues with the game, it's never crashed and it works fine online. I haven't really noticed many stutters either. But again I'm not a huge graphics/performance guy, I may not have even noticed. Again, it all depends on who you are.
I can play servers/worlds with max render distance and max graphics with 30 fps smoothly. But my ping is pretty good so i don't know if that has anything to do with it
I have this version and recently did the 1.18 update. I found that it is definitely slow to load chunks, and load in general. However, I find it far easier to control and build large structures with it in creative, and I have not had a single problem with lag that is enough to annoy me, although sometimes there are little quirks like a sound coming in too late. Sometimes, turn the console on and have a Minecraft world already loaded, it will go really slow, like 2 frames per second, until I go out of that world and back in, but I just see that as a quirk, and I have played games just as laggy on my tablet. In fact the only type of “unusable lag” that I have experienced in the game has been an actual part of the game that even PC versions have: distance effects. If you teleport farther than like 1.5 million of so blocks from spawn point, you will start to end up with jitter when walking toward or away from spawn point, but not side to side, and certain objects will not look right. This effect doubles every time you go twice as far, until the game completely breaks.
Do you have the 2017 version that came out shortly after the console itself? If so, we’re talking about different games. The game called “Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition” is what’s called a legacy console edition, and was strictly a single player game and different from any PC version. The newer version shown here is just called “Minecraft”. It is just bedrock edition in a switch game card, and currently contains the newest updates, which means it plays more similar to the full-size versions.
Yeah, I heard the 2017 release runs much faster than the one being reviewed here, but has less features. The games may look similar, but they are actually completely different software. If the picture on the cover of your game is different than the one in this video, you have a different version of Minecraft.
i've been playing Minecraft switch for a few years now and about a year ago i started a creative world where i built a tardis from doctor who with a full interior and everything and i added in loads of commands for sound effects and stuff so its like a proper map and it runs at about 10fps and everytime you open your inventory you get the dreaded loading screen
I've been playing Minecraft on my Switch for years now and I a sick to DEATH of all the times chunks just wouldn't load in, or my game crashing with no forewarning, or the countless other bugs it has. Needless to say, I'm so relived I finally have Java version. (I know most of these bugs are exclusive to the switch.)
Glad I'm not the only one having loads of issues. I have honestly tried googling many times if anyone else was having issues and found nothing. I loved the lecacy switch edition and had a world I loved on it and was sad when it was announced to be getting no updates. I really like the concept of Bedrock on switch and I want to love it, but I tried it and had constant crashing, the menus took 2 seconds for buttons to register and had constant framerate issues, not to mention the state of marketplace and character creator performance, which was shocking considering the legacy edition had no issues like it. It feels like it should never have passed Nintendo's cert testing with how buggy and bad it is. I could rant for an hour about all its issues. I don't understand how anyone can enjoy playing its current state but it is consistently one of the best selling games each week and is by far the most popular version. Do they just get lucky with the issues or do they not know any better and how Minecraft could potentially run? And now all this has caused is a dilemma with my world because I'm bored of 1.12 in the legacy edition, hate performance in bedrock on switch and it won't even let me transfer over to Windows where bedrock actually performs well because of an error every time I upload any world to a realm on switch. And to make matters worse it isn't even the hardware that's the problem because running the pocket edition on Android on a modded switch performs much better from my short testing. Just poor optimisation in software, which could be fixed but Microsoft has been focussed on features breaking the game even more. Also I guess this is a good time to mention I also dislike the feel of the right stick in Minecraft. It seems to have a massive deadzone and the sensitivity doesn't go up high enough for my liking, but I'd rather the game actually works than that minor issue was fixed. Admittedly the latest update does fix a bunch of stuff and I hope that progress can continue, but at this point I just don't trust it to stay like this and not get another update that breaks it again.
I'm sorry I'll admit I didn't read your entire comment, but I agree with what I did have time to read. I just feel like they don't really care enough about us to focus on helping out with our problems. It feels like we're just an afterthought.... maybe. If they can get around to us. ._.
I think some thing has been fixed 1. touch controls work 2. the game runs faster with different chunk distances (doesn't mean it won't lag) 3. split screen multiplayer is possible if you turn off the multiplayer setting
The switch version of minecraft is so ridiculously laggy, choppy and buggy that i will legitimately play the Wii U legacy console version because it performs more reliably.
@@MulinoBS It doesn't perform well at all. The Switch version can only handle like 8 or 10 chuncks render distance (worse than a cheaper mobile phone) and has lots of FPS drops, LAG and menus are even more laggy than the PS4's ones.
I have the 3DS version(more specifically all "New Nintendo 3DS" systems) of Minecraft and from what I can remember, I never had performance issues with it. You get about 8 skin packs (including Mario) and a few texture packs, (or maybe the other way around) it also has a Mario world. Im not sure if its the same world as the one on the switch tho. Im not sure what the price is, as I got it for Easter. I'm assuming it's 20-30 dollars. As good as it seems, it's not actually that great. 1. Limit to worlds You can only make about 10, which was a huge downfall for me when on my ps3 I have possibly over 50 or 100 worlds. 2. Barely any items Im not even sure what version it is, but im pretty sure there isn't even stuff from 1.12. There might not even be any specific version, it could just have random blocks. Would I recommend it? No. Although you get "freebies," the price is really only a bit cheaper if you were gonna buy the texture packs and skins. The limit to worlds and blocks just isn't worth it, just buy pocket edition if you want to play minecraft, and then you'll get to have any worlds and blocks you want. Plus, you'll have free skins because you can just download skins from like skinseed or a skin website. Edit 10/6/21: I checked the E Store and the latest update for minecraft was on 1/15/19. Its stated as "1.9," but in the description of the update, it states its the same as MCPD 1.1.5. So in other words, woodland mansions.
The only issue i've ran into is the microsoft sign-in taking a minute or so and the marketplace just not loading (but this doesn't really matter as I dont use it that much) and mojqng is constantly doing small updates to fix the bugs
Its not too bad at all especially on a realm where the chunk distance is so small anyway. Chugs a little when loading the world in but other than that pretty smooth. A decent tradeoff to be able to play a full featured version of minecraft portably. Remember with all the new updates minecraft is alot more demanding to run than it looks
i play Minecraft on the Switch and it's mostly fine, gets pre laggy sometimes though and freezes every no and then. i would still suggest not telling people to avoid buying the switch version, the portability alone is worth all of the downsides imo.
I love Minecraft legacy on Nintendo switch, but a big glitch. I found that harms the experience apparently squids don’t spawn in water that you place yourself using ice buckets or dispensers so only naturally spawning water squids can spawn in.
@@WoddCar It being cheaper means nothing. Playing Minecraft on mobile/tablet is literal hell. It’s so clunky, having to use touch screen to do the simplest of inputs. Switch is miles better in terms of comfort and not that far behind in portability.
It *didn't* used to _be like this!_ I bought the Switch version back in 2019. The version that's on the game card, supposedly, was "1.2" or in that neighborhood. That old version used to run _quite well_ on the Nintendo Switch! It was a perfect solution to not being able to run _Minecraft_ on my very outdated computer. Yeah, you still had to log in to _both_ your Nintendo and Microsoft accounts if you wanted your skins, and you can't actually use your _web_ skin without jumping through a lot of questionable hoops, but still… it was _Minecraft_ and it ran well. As often happens… the game got updates, and the updates made the overhead for the game all the higher, which ended with the game constantly *lagging,* even on the _lowest_ possible settings and just generally being unresponsive. I mean, yes? It's technically still playable? But, why? Why would you _want_ to? Add to the fact that they *removed* the "world size" option entirely (why?!) and the fact that if you *ever* update the game, you will *never* be able to "go back" and play the original version that came on your game card… well… Let's just say that I am a very unhappy gamer. I suppose if you don't _know_ any better, that's one thing, but even so… this is pretty unacceptable. My laptop isn't much more powerful than my Nintendo Switch - and is probably _weaker_ than, in fact - but you know what? It can run _Java Edition_ just fine. At lower settings and with Sodium, albiet. My laptop can also run _Bedrock Edition_ just fine, even at _higher_ settings! I'm pretty sure my New 2DS XL can run _that_ version of _Minecraft_ perfectly well, too, so… why the heck can't the _Nintendo Switch,_ of all things? *Edit:* Yes, I'm talking specifically about the physical version of Mojang's _Minecraft_ for Nintendo Switch released in 2018 onward by Mojang, *not* the version released in 2017 by 4J Studios.
Im pretty sure Mojang did not optimize the Switch version. Bedrock edition should not run this badly and when it first came to the Switch in 2018, it ran pretty well, almost as good as 4J's edition (which has limited world sizes.)
@@kcelej Nope. As soon as you update the game once, the operating system remembers that the game "needs" an update and refuses to let you run the unmodified version. This even applies to offline, Single Player games, too. The only way to undo this is to either reset the system to its factory default state, or use Custom Firmware. *Only* the Nintendo Switch does this and I don't know _why._
I've had the Switch version for more than a year and a half, and the ammount of times it has crashed is almost zero. And mind you, I use a Switch Light (can't afford the full console). So, aside from Joycon Drift being a thing, and the fact Multiplayer leaves something to be heavily desired (I generally play solo anyways, so it doesn't really affect me all that much) I really don't know what you are talking about, ibxtoycat? Perhaps, the problems go beyond just those that are solely within Minecraft itself. Personally, I prefer Java Edition, but until I can get a new computer (my current PC is A-N-C-I-E-N-T!!!), Bedrock on Switch is my go-to version for the time being.
As someone who is stuck on the switch, I cant help but agree with everything he said. Random frame drops, random crashes, lag while eating the food and in the nether. (The nether can create a lot of block lag sometimes.) I just recently started building a modular, automatic storage system. I was planning on building almost 30 modules. I built four and I'm already noticing a lower frame rate. And flying with an elytra is painful. For example, if I want to find a specific biome. I have to sit on a chunk border waiting for the next chunk to load, it's just so annoying to deal with. This is why I play on java more then bedrock. The only reason I stick with switch is because it is the first version that I played Minecraft on, and that's where all my worlds are. If weren't for those two reasons, I'd be playing Java full time. It might not run the best, but there are mods that can fix that. Also unrelated, but Switch sufferers from the most joy-con drift of any device ever, and I can't get over it.
An update just came out fixing some of these bugs recently. Playing on touch screen sucks, it's horrible. I don't play online. Already bought the game on switch and don't think it is as bad as you say :)
I would do it. I play MC on my switch and switch light and they are both fine. The only issues I have is my account constantly getting unlinked. But it’s not that expensive if you already own a switch, I would say at least try it. Because the people who like it like me, LOVE it. It’s so convenient
And to think the Switch’s Legacy Edition is better optimized than Bedrock even though it came out 1 year before it. And now it was discontinued and can’t be downloaded anymore.
i love the switch port, yes it has its cons, but to be able to have minecraft on the go (with a actually good controller) is awsome, but i do agree, it should run WAYY better, honestly they should just fix the account problems, render and performace options and loading options, that said i have a 3GB world that runs really good soo
I know how the pirate minecoins under switch all you need to do is get ahold old switch and then modded and then to talk you can get free minecoins with your ammunition
Switch version is fine. Though I guess that may not be true on "1.17" since I still haven't updated because I'm not taking part in their laziness. Beyond that, 1.12 and 1.14 had issues but the rest have been fine. Also, please don't tell me you were playing connected to the TV. It's a handheld. Docking it actually makes it run worse because it's still throttled but trying to output higher performance. Handheld is the only way you should be playing anything on Switch.
On docked mode the clock speeds are higher so docked mode is supposed to give higher performance and in most games give better performance or higher settings or resolutions on docked mode so no handheld is not the only way you should play on switch and no the switch is not a handheld it is a handheld and home console aka hybrid
@@Sprite897 dude, the dock doesn't give you "better clock speeds" or "better performance" because it's literally just a piece of plastic with a display adapter
@@elijah4168 No its not, nintendo programmed the nintendo switch to have a higher gpu speed in docked mode than in handheld mode the gpu clocks are from 307 mhz to 400 something mhz and docked clock speeds for gpu range from 768 mhz to 1020 mhz
Personally the only issue I’ve ever had on switch was an issue with crashing which has since stopped for a while now, and sometimes sounds lag behind actions. For the most part, its a great way to play minecraft on the go, or even docked if you dont mind the render distance.
Also, I literally hate playing this on the switch seeing as it’s laggy everytime I build a lot of structures. It disconnects me from my Microsoft account every 10 minutes prior loading into a world. I have to keep restarting the game to sign into my account properly every single time. I just hate the performance of the game. Minecraft Nintendo switch edition was better because it was BUILT especially for the switch, it always has a stable fps. I used to host a world called sky city and do roleplay with my friends and it was extremely laggy most of the time. Most of the time I’d get disconnected from my account once again and all my friends would get kicked. The unstableness of the game convinced me to switch to Java Edition on my computer full time. In my opinion I just hate this version of bedrock specifically.
Oh boy, as a longtime Switch player, MC is HORRENDOUS on Switch, but it has progressively got better… it doesnt kick switch players out of their friends worlds every 5 minutes anymore lol.
I’ve played on switch a lot sometimes and that’s never happened to me
I've never experienced that, probably 'cause I haven't spent enough time on it to actually witness the bugs
While it has improved a lot over time it is still much worse than the other.

Remember when back then, it kept kicking you out of your friends world every 5 minutes? Lol.

Even my skins wouldn’t load, but the way to fix it is first go to mange data then click software then click minecraft and scroll down to check for corrupted data and it should say there isn’t any then click re download and everything loads perfectly, don’t worry your data will still be there.

Me too
I’ve been playing Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch as my main console for 2 and a half years now, and while I wasn’t really too bothered by the performance issues at first, now that my main survival world has surpassed 200 megabytes, the performance is starting to take a hit.
It’s unacceptable for a BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY to release this terrible I played a couple game mode 1 packs and there even worse
@ThatYahoo Yeah I think it might just be the bedrock developers either being lazy with their switch optimisation, or it’s my switch getting slower because I’ve had it for almost 3 years now. Minecraft on my switch was working relatively fine when I first purchased it.

The only problem I've had on my switch was it freezing and when I relogged my mule was gone. On the other side I have problems with Minecraft crashing on my Kindle, especially on severs. I haven’t had any more issues on Switch than I have seen on Xbox One, but it’s definitely not great at times for no reason. Also when there are issues Mojang never fixes them like ever.
Mojang is not responsible for the bedrock edition, Microsoft is. Microsoft doesn't fix the bugs
Yea, my switch runs pretty well.
45 mins loading time, jeez.
I had 10 mins and I thought mine was bad
@D4cee, I have 2000 hours and when this started I had 1200 which is mostly why, it went from 15 to 45 overnight and the same happened to two of my friends at different times lol.
3 GIGABYTES? My switch refuses to put in any data that will cause it to go over 2 Gigabytes.

@@garfieldunderpants9914 the worst thing is is the person who host the world is on a switch lite with a 128GB Micro SD card. It makes 0 sense 😂.
Watching this as I play Minecraft on my switch lite and I like it this way.
I tested the new terrain as an experimental feature on switch, and it seems to work fine.
Try it with elytra
What
I've played minecraft nintendo switch since it came out and never have had ANY lag
@@djijspeakerguy4628 yes I played minecraft nintendo switch edition

It feels like we're just an afterthought.... maybe. If they can get around to us. ._.

2. the game runs faster with different chunk distances (doesn't mean it won't lag)
3. split screen multiplayer is possible if you turn off the multiplayer setting
The switch version of minecraft is so ridiculously laggy, choppy and buggy that i will legitimately play the Wii U legacy console version because it performs more reliably.
Bruh, dude what Switch do you have? Minecraft works perfectly fine for me.
1. Limit to worlds
You can only make about 10, which was a huge downfall for me when on my ps3 I have possibly over 50 or 100 worlds.
2. Barely any items
Im not even sure what version it is, but im pretty sure there isn't even stuff from 1.12.
Edit 10/6/21:

Maybe I should have seen this before spending 2500 hours on Minecraft on the Switch...

I like how even though this port is sub-optimal, it has sold millions of copies on the switch
All of bedrock is sub par compared to the better console edition
Maybe because portability sells?

It *didn't* used to _be like this!_
I bought the Switch version back in 2019.
*Edit:*
Yes, I'm talking specifically about the physical version of Mojang's _Minecraft_ for Nintendo Switch released in 2018 onward by Mojang, *not* the version released in 2017 by 4J Studios.
Im pretty sure Mojang did not optimize the Switch version. Bedrock edition should not run this badly and when it first came to the Switch in 2018, it ran pretty well, almost as good as 4J's edition (which has limited world sizes.)
wdym? The carts are read-only, you can just delete the updates off your console and play the version that originally came out on your cartridge
@@kcelej
Nope.
The Switch version wasn't always bad...but it did get worse.

Yes no hate deserved to this video
Minecraft on Nintendo switch is great I don’t care what you say it’s my favorite version mostly because I can’t play Java
"It works just fine!" until you go into the nether. Once. Slide show time.
Just went in the the nether and have made a few trips and now my over world is very buggy
My switch runs fine on realm, even runs a realistic texture pack the whole time, never crashed and I tend to use it as my afk secondary account
An update just came out fixing some of these bugs recently. Playing on touch screen sucks, it's horrible. I don't play online. Already bought the game on switch and don't think it is as bad as you say :)
Ok thanks! :)
I was getting ready to play Minecraft on my switch when this came out 😂
Saaaame
I've never had a problem with it kinda weird
Consider yourselves lucky. Mine runs so horribly i basically gave up.
I thought you can’t have more than 2GB worlds on Switch due to the profiles Memory restriction. Did they remove the restrains?
Switch version is fine. Though I guess that may not be true on "1.17" since I still haven't updated because I'm not taking part in their laziness. Beyond that, 1.12 and 1.14 had issues but the rest have been fine.
Also, please don't tell me you were playing connected to the TV. It's a handheld. Docking it actually makes it run worse because it's still throttled but trying to output higher performance.
Handheld is the only way you should be playing anything on Switch.
It's not "laziness", it's to prevent crunch during a global pandemic as
I mostly play docked. Handheld fine just eh don't see reason unless I'm not home
10:17 It would be pretty handy if motion controls activated when you tense a bow.
Oh boy, as a longtime Switch player, MC is HORRENDOUS on Switch, but it has progressively got better… it doesnt kick switch players out of their friends worlds every 5 minutes anymore lol.
Yeah I remember when the music used to skip or get stuck on one part again and again, like how do you mess that up? Lmao
I haven’t even touched bedrock on switch since like 2019. The performance was awful even then and it’s sad to hear it’s gotten even worse now.
It has gotten better for me. I think it depends per console, either it works amazing or works badly
You have mental health issues

The fact that mobile has better render distance than xbox one is just ridiculous
