I appreciate you posting this vid on these mats. It's one thing to read a description and see pictures, and quite another to hear from someone who uses them daily.
No prob, glad it's helping you. They're solid mats. Still going strong. I think I just replied to you on another video, but I sold them to my student who's now running the school. He's still using them almost daily. Great product
Thank you for your video. I am on the fence about smooth or tatami and velcro vs nonvalcro. I want to do stand up without slipping, jujitsu without rug burns, and training without mats moving. Now that you have had them for awhile can you please provide your opinion. Thank you
Hey Pete, thanks for watching. As you probably know from the video, my mats are tatami and velcro. Stand up is fine without slipping...the only time it wasn't was when it was like 85 degrees in the room, and there were 12+ people rolling...the sweat made things disgustingly slick, but I don't think sandpaper floors would have made a difference at that point. Mat burn occasionally happens, but no worse that any other surfaces I've used. I don't think you'll have any issue with the floors sliding as long as you butt up to the wall or a fixed perimeter. Hope that helps!
I have the ones you put tape on. It’s going on 10 years and we just leave our mats out every day. We use the Binance tatami tape. The tape does peel up on the sides, especially from washing them. It’s a pain to the eye but I just retape them every couple months. I was hoping to see that the Velcro solved this problem but I guess not. Thanks for the review!
Do you think these are good for tumbling/Judo? I would love to see you throw some of your guys lol and then zoom in on their faces so I can notice any grimacing/pain... lol j/k but serious at the same time
Watched a dude get dumped with a standing Fireman's Carry last night, and it only hurt his pride. According to their website, they use these mats across North America for Olympic qualifying grappling and Judo tournaments, so I think you'd be good to go. Hope that helps :)
Build a subfloor for hard throws. Use circular polyethylene foam pieces about 1-2 inches thick glued to plywood about 1-2 foot spaced out. Lay down the plywood foam side down so you stand on the plywood like a subfloor with "air and foam" underneath. You can literally throw people directly on the plywood without too much issue honestly. Just roll out some mats on top for comfort.
Im planning on buying the same 1. Some told me that i can use wrestling shoes on these mats. Would u think this is advisable considering wear and tear for its durability and quality?
Hey, good question. I was told by Dollamur that wrestling shoes aren't an issue. Our local high school also uses these same mats for wrestling, and I don't believe they've had any issues. I'd say you're safe :)
At first I thought this was going to be a video about your huge calves! ...you should have a mirror behind you in every video. 😉 BTW, it would be great to see a video of you “rolling” sometime! And, your mats are awesome! If I were in the market for mats, I would certainly buy those! Great video!!
Thanks Craig!! I'll keep the mirror in mind. It is kind of a cool effect. I've thought about posting rolling videos. I need to make some workouts from hard drilling (not that it's not already a workout). Great hearing from you sir!

Thanks for the video, literally the only one I could find. Any follow-up o the mats. I am about to purchase this product. Thank you again.
Thanks for the video. Im looking at buying some of these for my studio too. Did you get that peeling up issue addressed?

Nice video.
I just purchased 2 of these mats. I was curious how many people you think can roll comfortably on 12x20 (or half of your classroom) ?
It's been a while. How are the seems holding up?
Now that’s what you call a clever system lol 😂 niceee

I thought they recommend smooth mats for jiu jitsu and tatami for stand up martial arts. What made you choose tatami over the smooth surface?
I think the difference isn't which kind of sport it is grappling or throwing, but is it barefoot or not. If "yes" then the choice is tatami.
BEAUTIFUL FEET...
