They're on top of 7mm rubber gym flooring at the studio, on concrete at home. They are fine either way. I don't have a lot of room at home so we've not done big takedowns or throws but for rolling they are fine.
Thank you, I am trying to decide myself what to put under my mats. We are looking at putting 3'' polyethylene, Plywood, and 1 - 5/8 Dollamur roll as well. Just not sure what is enough lol.
Crosby Broadwater we got everlast 7mm gym flooring in 4' rolls from www.charlestonfitnessequipment.com the guy got us a good deal on it and they shipped it. Installs easy I didn't even glue or tape it down its just rolled out and pushed flush.
That is great, I remember moving and cleaning our mats for my high school wrestling team and that was a nightmare by comparison. Nice decal too, looks sharp even work the error. Those look like an awesome home gym option for small space, nice review!
I have had my dollamur mats for over eight years now and train with a few police officers. They trained in their full gear with the exception of we switch their side arm out for a training weapon. No holes, or tears in the mats yet even after rolling around on all that gear👍!!!
Did you use smooth or tatami and how do you keep the mats together? I want to do stand up without slipping, jujitsu without rug burns, and training without mats moving. Thank you
Thanks for the review! I am trying to figure out what type of flooring to get for a new dojo space we may be moving into, this was one of many options recommended.
I have these mats. Everything he said is true. They are much softer than 1.5 tatami zebras. Very comfy in my opinion. I have a mixed environment and everyone tends to prefer to roll on these. I will say they puncture quite easily. A local gym matted out with 2” dollamurs. The cuts between the pads were too deep and broke through the surface in several places. The owners said dollamur refused to replace. I would just make sure there was an agreement.
Did you get soom or tatami and velcro or no velcro? I want to do stand up without slipping, jujitsu without rug burns, and training without mats moving. Thank you
Did you guys get smooth or tatami and velcro or no velcro? I want to do stand up without slipping, jujitsu without rug burns, and training without mats moving. Thank you
I asked Dollamur about rolling the mats up while flexi connected. They said they recommend disconnecting the mats when rolling them up. Do you roll them up connected often? no issues?
Hey thanks for the review. Have you had any issues with the seams peeling up due to washing them? I have the old flexi rolls and use the vinyl tape and they peel up after a couple of months due to washing them. I plan on buying more because I love the mats(10 years old), but wasn’t sure if the Velcro had this issue. Thanks!
William, did you get smooth or tatami and velcro or no velcro? I want to do stand up without slipping, jujitsu without rug burns, and training without mats moving. Thank you
I'm looking to use some similar mats outdoors but was worried the concrete would eat away the foam. Would these work if I had some thin carpet underneath??
Did you get the mats? If so dd you guys get smooth or tatami and velcro or no velcro? I want to do stand up without slipping, jujitsu without rug burns, and training without mats moving. Thank you
I havent used the 2" ones... I dont know how much bulk that would add when rolled up. These 1.5" ones are fairly impact resistant... I would take a judo throw on one... but I can fall pretty well. We dont do a ton of throws or takedowns here so they haven't really been put to that test. I haven't tried the smooth but I do know I like the way the tatami looks so much better.
@@hard2hurt I assume when you don't have the intention of rolling them up them each time, you don't really need the velcro. You can just place them one next to the other and tape them together to stay like that. With the veclro ones, don't you have the issue that you can get "stuck" between two matts? I think I would use it a bit grappling but most of the time to do standing work like kickboxing or karate.
Thanks for the hard work you put into your videos and especially your humor, always have me cracking up! Random question- what kind of sweat pants are you wearing, I notice you had some grey ones too. Cheers from down under in New Zealand. Oh and subbed btw
Too much... If I could do it again I would have spent way less on equipment and just got a rig setup and functional training gear, resistance bands etc...
hard2hurt I just bought these mats with a smooth finish. I need it for bjj, I still have not received it. Should I call Dollamur and tell them I need tatami instead? I’m at such a crossroad because I read and hear that tatami gives may burns, but these newer mats have reduced friction. I also practice Muay Thai and JKD, and read that the smooth finish is better so stand up especially for those kicking. Would really appreciate your opinion. You think I’m good with the smooth finish???
Almanzar, how do you like the smooth and velcro or no velcro? I want to do stand up without slipping, jujitsu without rug burns, and training without mats moving. Thank you
@@peteduarte9221 I see your are asking looking for the same answer a I once was l, and neither video helped entirely; I also need my mats for the same reason...stand up and ground work. I got the smooth mat and have no problems slipping while standing, nor gotten any mat burn while grappling. Here is a big but, once you get sweaty...even grappling is slippery. Also important, I have one mat. Although it's pretty big especially compared to those foldable mats, it's still kinda small. Good for a flow roll or a super controlled hard roll. To summarize, the quality of the product is great. I haven't used their tatami mats but I'll be ordering the connecting mats in tatami on my next purchase and would recommend you to do the same. Whatever you do, please let me know your experience with product. Hope I helped
That is a small market. Most people who would be serious enough to get them are in a gym. I built a pretty robust gym at home because I was unable to get to the gym because of kids and eventually I was actually training clients there.
And so the legend was born
Great video! Thanks for your review of Dollamur.

These mats are amazing! I love them, our team used to wrestle on old pieces of shit, we got these, never going back! These mats are amazing 👍
Thanks for this! Looking for rolling mats at home and these look legit.

I was hoping to see Icy Mike fighting No Touch Martial Artists 😂
Awesome info! Do you also have a subfloor or are your mats on straight concrete?
Right??
Thanks a lot for this review. It is great to see people that practice martial art do reviews of their equipment.
The beginning of Hard2Hurt, haha!
Oh nice! I got some used ones and didn’t know about the Velcro connectors. Thanks!
this is the 2nd time I've watched this video in full Mike :) they look pretty expensive in australia.

These look great but are too expensive for me. I want to make a home gym and am considering two of the zebra 10’x10’ 1 1/4” roll out mats.
I want one of these in 3'x6' to store it under my mattress when not in use. I use an air mattress because they're way easier to move, BTW.
good review mate, are they slippery when doing NO-GI IF YOU ARE SWEATY?
I notice you had a mat tape with Velcro. Is that something that comes with the product for the three sections? Or did you do that yourself?
Your mats look much thicker than the 1.25” shown on the Dollamur website/amz. Are you curtain they are the same?
He said they're 1.5"
I purchased on Amazon...fantastic! Perfect padding for rolling.

@@peteduarte9221 I purchased the tatami with Velcro. Love the mat and consider the mat burn part of the process...at least in the early stages.
He's right this mat is really awesome, but that price tho, damn
Seriously.
im getting ready to order some. are those black or charcoal colors you got? thank you
Very helpful, appreciate it!
Thanks! You outfitting a gym or looking for home mats?

Tatami vs smooth surface? I don't know if you went over that but thanks for the review.

Looking to update the mats at my studio. After 4 years do you still recommend the fleximats?
Will this work okay if I put it directly over top of bedroom carpet? Will it be firm enough?
Did the mats come with the velcro or did you add that after you bought them? If so, how did you do so?
They came with the velcro that is the "flexi-connect" option. They come with and without.
Hi! Would you recommend 1.5" or 2" thick? I am looking to do Muaythai and practise sweeps. Also, how about smooth vs tatami in your opinion?

Would you recommend this mat as good option for a free standing bag? I live in an apartment and I'm trying to find a good noise cancelling impact mat.
horsestall mat would be a way cheaper option
How did you get your logo printed on your mat. Im trying to get a logo on my mat
How's the surface in terms of getting mat burn?
Hey man, are these the tatami texture or smooth? Which do you prefer?
I have the same question. I want to do stand up without slipping, jujitsu without rug burns, and training without mats moving.
Hi. Would you recommend buying the matts with hook-and-loop velcro closure? Or without velcro and use tape to connect them?
The ones at the studio are velcro... my ones at home are not. Depends on your needs.

The seams have never been an issue. I've never noticed one and I'm on them all day every day FWIW
Why choose velcro over mat tape?
Oooo I should let my sensei know about these mats. 😀

What are the square footage of your mats?
you didn't have to tape them?
Would your recommend this for BJJ ?
Did you mean 5x10 mats? I dont see a 12x5 dollamur mat
Where can I buy those heavy bags?
How did you do the logo on the mat?

Pretty sure those are "flex-connect." The Flexi-Roll need tape. You show yours with Velcro connect.
Good review! Thx
Are they good for taking bumps?
Not at my age.
Does the cleaner kill SAS CoV-2?
It's E.P.A. number puts it on "List N" which means it is supposed to... if that means anything to you.
How much was the investment for all your equipment for the gym?
Too much... If I could do it again I would have spent way less on equipment and just got a rig setup and functional training gear, resistance bands etc...
hard2hurt mang but your gym is the best looking gym in UA-cam. I follow others but your gym is a ideal dream for me to one day open my own
