    Is the bottom bracket made of plastic? Just Rex’s mine from Amazon and the bottom bracket bearings are encased in a plastic. Not an aluminum alloy. Plastic holds up?

      I ended up replacing it by choice, not because it failed. It seemed to work fine though

    Hi. What chain do you use? After installing the ixf crankset my stock chain is grinding on something and I have no idea what it is. Any ideas?

    • @RomansDowntime
      @RomansDowntime  2 роки тому

      You may have to adjust your rear derailleur after installing a new crankset.

  • @ChrisTeachesHistory

    Any idea how many mm the chainline is for these cranks? Trying to find anything less than a 52mm chainline to accommodate a 135mm rear hub but I’m not finding anything that’s fitting my budget at the moment.

    • @RomansDowntime
      @RomansDowntime  2 роки тому +1

      I’m sorry, I don’t know. If your budget it tight I would say look up a pair pf JG cranks from amazon. Those cranks plus a JG chainring would run you less then the IXF. I used them on a mongoose Ledge X1 build, and they run fine.
      Btw The Ledge also had a 135mm rear hub. If that helps at all

    was your frame's bb tube 73mm or 68mm ? wondering how many spacers i would need and still be able to keep the chain line close to correct.

    • @RomansDowntime
      @RomansDowntime  3 роки тому +1

      Its approximately 73mm. I would suggest to double check it while your installing it. I didn’t need a spacer with the ixf’s bb. Yet I needed to put a spacer when i replaced the bb with a shimano bb.

  • @tanhaunguyen3804

    Hello. How you set up spacer?

    • @RomansDowntime
      @RomansDowntime  3 роки тому +1

      One spacer between the bike and bb if you think your chainring is to close or touching your chain stay.

    Just ordered one for my 29” hardtail cube, hoping to switch it to a 1 x for just canals, cycle tracks, beach front type of strolling with the family, but the occasional shred near home for my own sanity, how have you found the oval chainring to a round one please?…. 👍🏼🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    • @RomansDowntime
      @RomansDowntime  Рік тому +1

      In my honest opinion, its pretty difficult for the average rider (me included) to notice any significant difference when comparing oval chainrings to round one. A standard round one would be fine for the type of riding you mentioned, but an oval doesn’t hurt. My opinion, buy whatever is on sale or for a better price.

    • @RomansDowntime

      48T Is the max chainring, you can go big if your knees are like sagan's. But if you ride in the trails, 32 is more better
