- For someone that doesn't exactly take it easy on the trails can I fit and get away with riding like I do with £45.00 cranks.
I must say this experiment makes me nervous. there are numerous thing that could go wrong .
I tried to find information out about these cranks , but I couldn't find and videos that gave me the information that I wanted .
I just hope I live to regret my decision and it doesn't end in tears.
wish me luck
Yes they are! I have done XC races on my ixf cranks and i weigh 230. They have held up well and still going.
I've had so many mixed views of people , this reviews process will be quite interesting
Wow good information, are they still without fault?
Got a similiar product from Aliexpress, looks very good IRL, i did swap out the screws holding left crank arm from those soft black screws included to stainless steel ones because the original ones kept coming loose every two weeks or something.
I’ve had them since Feb this year. Can’t fault them... pleasantly surprised. 🔥
Still feel the same way? Long term?
@@xdi1733 I’ve still not had an issue.👍 I suppose if you perform the due diligence when it comes to servicing you’re chain regularly ( clean it & oil it weekly )and checking the chainring & chainring bolts to proper torque, follow proper procedure taking the crankset off & do regular maintenance & Lubing with proper grease, the external brackets both sides, maybe putting on a better external bottom bracket on . loosening & tightening up bolts on the pedals to proper torque you should be good.
I used an IXF crank on a budget gravel build. No complaints at all. Easy install and they have caused no issues. Completely solid.
A year on they are still going strong
Decided to do a proper job of making my bike a 1x. Came across these looking through on ebay. Coming from China I was very skeptical about ordering them so had a look at reviews like this. Great video mate 👍
Thank you , obviously I cant account for time but I've thrown everything that I would do on my full sus at them and they are still in great condition 👍
If you could sub to the channel it would be awesome 👍🤘
Of course. Definitely gonna go for them. Price is amazing, all the reviews seemed to be unanimously good from the UA-cam videos I've seen
I use AliExpress it's a type of Chinese Amazon, never had cranks but had carbon handle bars and bottle cages led lights etc all with no worries. Interesting to see how long the crank lasts.👍
I've had 2 of these cranks on 2 different bikes. No problem with the cranks but dont lose the plastic crank cap, preload screws thingy. I think it's not a standard size. I tried to replace with a m18 and a m20 thread but neither worked. If you lose that cap. The crank can work it's way off.
Cheers, I'll regularly check but not tighten through the review process👍
It's a size 19 and can be found on Amazon I think.
Yup can second that. It's M19 Preload cap they have alu versions as well on AliExpress.
Is the crankset okay on the trail? did nothing crack or what after you used it? And you try the crankset on jumps??
I've done dirtjumps and down hill . It didn't break amazing.
Thanks for your answer. I would have planned to upgrade the crankset in case the others are too expensive, so I would like to know if the iXF cranket is durable
@@naiky8048 exactly ... i think they are comparable to the prowheel set
Put them on a XC full sus and a hardtail trail bike and they've done the job so far. Hunt around enough and you can pick up the BB, crankset and a 32T chainring for £35-45. They're great as a temporary measure at least if you're building from the frame up.
I agree totally I used them doe ages and now they are on my wife's bike
Haha, "noises drive me crazy" and your son in the background.
Tell me about it
Been using IXF cranks for years now.... you will defo find you need to change out the BB well before the cranks go..... ive never had a set fail yes the BB that comes with them are ok but they do eventually die but the cranks just go on and on.
The true test is what are they like after 2, 3 4-5yrs of use I guess. If a £120 set last you 6yrs and a £44 set last 2 then theres no money saved really
Good video. I have also a prowheel, but the teeth are different shapes, thick-thin, thick-thin and so on. Do you know which chain fit this special ringchain?
If you mean a narrow wide chainring ,most chains fit
@@AdventureTrailsMTB I tried the shimano 12s and it didn't work. Should I try sram?
@@AdventureTrailsMTB what is the meaning of wide and narrow teeth on this chainring? Does it prevent from getting worn out too soon? And if I don't find the right chain, should I file the wide teeth each by each?
@@glennlubomirskynovitch3254 marrow wide helps stop the chain falling off ......and don't file anything 🤣
@@AdventureTrailsMTB I measured the space between one tooth and another. It is bigger than the old one. And that makes me understand why it moves finally out of the hole 's link.
How are these cranks holding up so far? Long term review? I am considering getting them for my hardtail. Any information would be great, thank you.
They are still with us . They've been on my wife's bike and now on my buddys bike
If I have a 73mm shell do I need to use the spacers?
Maybe.
Are you converting a 2x or 3x to a 1x ?
Whatever you're doing carefully measure distance from Frame center or edge to chainring position, for reference, before removing old crank.
I just upgraded my 1x9 Hyper Explorer MTB, so my goal was to keep same chainring distance to frame.
Turns out I needed NO spacers. Of course I already installed 1 on the Drive side, then had to remove it.
But it's all good now & she shifts like a Dream.
Crank is now 1000% more solid than stock one !
Woo Hoo !
I found one video a couple of years back, a bit of light riding and the axle developed a play where in connects to a drive-side crank.
I'll definitely be keeping my eyes on them during the next couple of months.
Could've been a problem with not using enough grease
It’s been 8-9 months, so how was it mate? This review is i am looking. Thanks man!
very good . I've put this on my wife's bike and bought another for myself.
@@AdventureTrailsMTB really appreciate your reply man! Thanks! btw, what model of shimano BB is good for this? 🙏
@@James-gb7nx any 24mm hollowtech external bb is fine . I personally went for the xt .but to be honest the one that came with it was fine for about 6 months.
@@AdventureTrailsMTB Nice! This really helps me a lot! Thank you very much man! 👍
Mint review mate, just ordered a pair haha. Worth the risk for the price I say and they look the business. Did you need a spacer at all?
Just one spacer on the drive side as per the norm .
The sonder is a boost frame so I had doubts about the crank as it's not boost. But it changed smoother then a boost crank
I have these on my full suspension and they do just fine I also ordered them in red for my hardtail
For the money I think they are crazy value for money
Plus, is your bike a Boost frame bike? If so, how is ifx gear shifting working out? Good?
ended up here as i just got a pair XD. they are on my jump bike now but im thinking if i should put them on my trailbike..hmmmmm
They haven't failed on me yet , I do a lot of dh on my hardtail
Why is it surprising that they work well? Just because you’re not overpaying for name brand parts? This is the price they should all be.
I think we are all scared of the Chinese products , mainly because they are not tested to the European or us standards , but so far so good.
and they look great ... just perfect for my HT .. Giant 2021 Talon 29" x2 .. i cant stand the loss of high end gearing for road /street commuting .. damnnn 🤨
@@AdventureTrailsMTB exactly brother ... i want a set
Hello there ! Is the middle piece of the bottom bracket Mandatory ? Ive seen couple videos leave it out.
If its there fit it. It going to help keep it all clean
@@AdventureTrailsMTB makes sense.. thank you for your reply!
Great cranks been around a long time chief. I jump the fuck out of it no issues do the up keep and worst thing that will happen is the bb will need to be replaced at sometime.
Nice vid mate!!! I reckon there’d be the odd ‘dodgy’ one - a quality control issue with the cheaper stuff, but otherwise they seem solid.
I agree
People worry, but these have to be better than something you'd get on your typical £400 Halfords bike!
I agree totally .awesome kit
I do dirt jumping with them, they work great
Considering the abuse a mtb takes on dirt jumps, your comment made my decision solid in buying one of these cranks. (I only use mine to commute btw, a hybrid myb as they call it)
You know sumit, for the price the big players are charging for everything bicycle these days, why the Hell not.
I got hollowtech crank IXF 3speed and function well about 500km ride
I’ll send it with that crank set if it can survive 7 ft drops
I've recently done dirt jumps and it survived .
still functional sir? u recommend it or nah?
Absolutely. Its been on my bike , my wife's bike and in tomorrow's video I put it on the cheap bike build . They are incredible.
Hi dude, I’m in the UK trying to get my hands on this crankset with the BB and the chainring. I’ve looked on ebay but pretty much all of them either say that they’re shipping from UK (when infact they’re not) or they’re shipping from China. It’s says on Ebay and Amazon that due to coronavirus it could take quite a while to arrive and may be even issues with delivery. How did you find ordering these? Could you possible show me a link? Thanks again dude

The Chinese products has been amazing - this little bike crankset to high rise skyscrapers, engineering works has proven to be record building empire, the Chinese products can match or even better of any world class builders of motoring bike accessories.
No it can't. Don't bullshit the world.
@@KamionKing mainstream .. mass production budget class LOOK AT SHIMANO, they have flooded the market
Hi, is that 1 x 10 speed or 1 x 9? Thanks
1x11
@@AdventureTrailsMTB wow 1x11, thanks a lot, great review. keep safe
Hi. Is your bike a Boost frame? How is ifx in gear shifting? Good?
Yeah its boost . No problems whatsoever . Bike manufacturers say there could be issues to sell boost cranks . Nearly all chainrings are 3mm off set to compensate. It all a big con
yes
Does the bottom bracket of shimano mt210 and IXF are the same?
its the same 24mm all works with eachother
@@AdventureTrailsMTB Thank you. I bought this IXF today used my old bb. :)
@@letmecook98765 they are great cranks for the money .
I've brought a pair of these,
There was no info with them, what torque did you and do you tighten these to, I tightened mine to 15nm, is that ok???
I'm still building this bike up so I haven't road them yet!
I did mine to 12 ,the shimano hollowtech should be between 12 and 15 so I went with the lower side . I also swapped the pins as they had no grade on them .but they have stood the test of time
@@AdventureTrailsMTB Thanks, I never thought of swapping the pins, good idea, I think I shall do the same, cheers.
@@AdventureTrailsMTB too damn complicated for me ... all the torquing and specs , jeeeez 😒
Nice review! Building up a Merida two-twenty FS, 1x11 and IXF cranks are going on it, you have put my mind at rest 👌
although not I'm my personal bike i still have enough confidence to put them on my wife's bike .
under fiddy bucks on amazon for these bad boys.
Think it'll hold my fat ass? 360lbs
I've taken these off dirt jumps. So they've taken some punishment, so I'd say they'd be fine for the heavier rider 🤣😂
Interesting! Be good to see how long these last Mate.
It's a fun but scary video project that's for sure😂🤣
Awesome,I'm about to order a pair of these, thx u,s,a. Wahooooo
mine have been great . they are now on the wifes bike .
Follow up video??
I have a review on there about a month later . 👍
@@AdventureTrailsMTB I couldn't find it, I'll try again
Are they boost compatible?
They don't state they are , but my bikes boost and there is no problem with chainline .
@@AdventureTrailsMTB Thanks for replying mine have literally just turned up see how I get on, great channel.
@@chrishawkins582 thank you 🤟
Me and my friend got one of those cranks in a box put it on a softail
I think they are great , they are now on the wifes bike
Hard tail?what's a soft tail
The noise and fast forward footage gives me a head arched.
4 months on, how are they holding up?
still great , i use them in the workshop as spares, they are currently on the wife's bike.
@@AdventureTrailsMTB so all in all a bit of bargain, cheap but good is not something you get these days, so glad to hear they're still turning.
Is it a 73? Cheers
Yes buddy its 68-73 comes with the usual 3 spacers
Everything is made in china these days anyway. Id be willing to bet a lot of top bike part brands are too.
perhaps u shud edit the pieces of crap cranks from china.people are beginning to realise the Chinese are improving their manufacturing and people in the west saving money on stuff made in japan or usa.
