3:00 BIG JUMP, 5:08 Alternative side window view to show McRae steering wheel action, 8:00 Famous BIG jumps and watersplash of Bannister North stage, 8:24 Nicky Grist talks about knocking his head at the end!
Wonderful driver - sad loss. Thanks for posting this. The audio is not out off sync, it's just Nicky Grist the co-driver is calling the corners about two ahead.
He talked to Skoda about full season contract at the end of 2004,when he tested the car.But he too wanted a place for in that time not exactly known Kris Meeke,so Skoda dissmissed it. But before Wales in need of a miracle,Skoda called Colin, who repatrionated himself with Nicky Grist again and they were 7th. In Australia, they were lying in 3rd with an shot of 2nd but clutch change ou of time put them out too
Excelente !! Muy buen tramó, muy muy rápido, Colin tranquilo y prolijo manteniendo el ritmo, lástima la segunda cámara que no me gustó, justo en la parte de bannings....
It's unfortunate that the most interesting part of the stage comes all from that poor camera angle over the driver's shoulder: frankly, I can't see any advantage in that aspect. Otherwise, I don't know, maybe the setup was really benefitting the traction of the Skoda, but those Skoda drives are IMHO the least fun of Colin's onboards. It shows that he's fighting the car. Interesting to see it anyway, of course :) Thank you, WRC!
Colin liked a car set up so that he had to work it! He tolerated the skoda only because he told skoda that he wanted to set it up or he wasn't coming onboard, hated the citroen, liked the focus I think. He was a picky driver but great nonetheless....
@@QuinnBoone I, too, think it was quite visible that Colin liked the car that you could chuck around, i.e. that you could easily set the car into a slip angle and carry the momentum over the corner. I agree he looked quite uncomfortable in the Citroen which was, seemingly, a car built for staying firmly glued to the surface and for driving around corners, without setting the car at angle too much (comparatively speaking: obviously, there's no loose surface rallying without drifting at all). But what I think is that this Skoda adopted an approach that you could also see in the lates Mitsubishi WRC (that ugly, unsuccessful duck with the rear spoiler hideously stuck in the middle of the boot-lid): they seemed to have been trying their hand at a configuration somewhat similar to a rally-raid car: extremely long suspension with loads of travel. I guess the idea was that the car would absorb every bump of the road like it wasn't there, the wheels maintaining a really good contact with the surface all the time, -- all at the cost of the car being quite wobbly, unprecise in handling, lethargic to the steering impulses and requiring a lot of manhandling to get it into and out of corners.
Skoda was fast only in the hands of Colin McRae, here you can see Colin dont used the paddle shift, the team Will try to Cange It but fail completely and was retired for Colin..
too bad skoda is a piece of shit. they ended up dropping out of this rally due to clutch issues their tech's couldn't fix skoda was a disappointment for all McRae fans

I think Colin had big chances of winning this one, if it wasn't the Skoda Motorsport team he was working with. Thx for posting wrc :)

Not clutch issues...just getting the message to change it too late
this car is amazing, what electronic did they have back then?
Active differentials and launch control if I'm not mistaken
I think they paint a mental picture in their head using the notes.
bad enough when i going shopping with the wife and shes talking but this is maddness lol awsome sorry was that left or right ????
mad

I could drive like colin but then I took an arrow to the knee
@Burritoast That's life :/
This car could have been fighting for the title, if the Germans kept their dirty little hands off it.
Lmao, the Germans you criticise are the ones who made that Skoda semi-competitive.
too bad skoda is a piece of shit.
