Excellent video. This brings back a lot of memories for me. It is great to see that era again without any CSX, but you do see some signs of things to come with the Seaboard and CRR hoppers. Great job.
My lord yes! If you've got any more videos from then, please feel free to post them. Gosh what a missed era.. Wish I was there to experience it! Great videos.. Love the sounds!
That's cool man, thank you for sharing what you did video, and record. The audio is most excellent to match the video, thanks for making the extra effort!
@Trainmaster02 Wow, that was so long ago, I don't really remember. It was probably a county road or railroad access road. I'm sure it's on a county roadmap. Thanks for the positive feedback.
@Trainmaster02 "Upon further review", and looking at some satellite images, I think it might be Moss Run rather than Jerry's Run. It was a long time ago, and I don't have a clear memory. Maybe someone familiar with the geography will post something.
I don't think I have any more. Mostly I was taking slides in those days. I didn't have a video recorder...just a camera and had to borrow a record deck which was the size of a major city phone book. If I turn up more Chessie, I'll post it.
Thanks for the clarification, however I don't know of any way to correct the video and replace the old one on UA-cam. I just hope people will read the comments and see your post.
Sorry Espeelover, I hit "Remove" rather than " Reply" Klutz! You asked "Whats all that smoke from?" I believe it's from brake shoes being applied on the downgrade.

Whew, this comment goes back a ways. Fully agree though, what a time to be alive...I imagine!

Seaboard family hoppers (Seaboard, Family Lines, Clinchfield) in that coal train, sign of things to come with the formation of CSX.
That is one of the sweetest K5LA's I've ever heard!
The best sounding K5LA ever... 100%

Did you catch the C&O 614 that winter of 1985?
does the CSX still run over this section of C&O Mainline via Allagannies? what kind of horn was on the Chessie C&O SD50?
At 3:09, this is my favorite part of the epic K5LA horn!
Did Chessie System merge into what is now CSX or they seperate entities? I know CSX is Chessie Seaboard Express so i figured the 2 might be connected.
smoking brakes from plain bearing journal boxes, classic!!
how did your dad die if you don't mind me asking, and how long was he with C&O and then Chessie system?
X means privete owner like on passenger cars you see the reportingt marxs followed by and X for privete
That would have been a K5LA, a good one at that.
Chessie System K5LA.
Yes, to your first question. I don't know to your second.
Ross

It doesn't mean express.
Ex C&O mainline.
K5LA.
An "Extra" train is one that is not on the timetable.
Well everyone i talk to that are raifans say it stands for express.
