  • Howdy.... I'm excited about a broken sero, but why? The servos we're talking about are the MG90S Servos here bit.ly/2FfUJNx. At £1.80 (ish) each they are super value for money and I use them on all my "normal" RC model builds. Enjoy, Matt

I've bought about 20 of these based on your recommendation, and have them in 6 different models. Never had a faulty one or had one fail.

It's debatable if metal geared servos are any better than nylon geared ones. Mainly because they are made from sintered metal, which is not particularly strong when compared to (proper) nylon gears.
if a servo strips its gear teeth, is because its been in a crash, in which case its the pilots fault.
When I think about how much a special micro servo like this would cost back in the late seventies, it would make you cry Matt.
I have quite a few HXT90s and have yet to have a DOA or a gear strip, they just won't die.

Morning ET, I had a couple of plastic ones from HobbyKing and they never lasted me more than a few flights and a few landings, hence I went looking for other options, found these and never looked back. And of course I've still managed to kill many of these, but they have been in the extremes. Matt

I'm a bit late to the party it seems but oh well.
I have quite a few of the HXT900's and they've been fine. My main reason for buying them though is the torque.
The cheap/fake servos seem to have somewhat optimistic torque ratings whereas the HXT's are great, even when used on the elevator!

I now use these servos almost exclusively, out of the many dozens I have had only one was dead on arrival, Bangood replaced it without quibble.

I've been buying the ES08MA-II Emax servos as my 'go-to' these days.
If I want something a little stronger (for a Ritewing or whatever) The Emax ES3154 is a stronger and digital servo.
I haven't had a problem with the TowerPro servos though. They seem on par with the Turnigy Metal geared ones.

Hey Shawnz, oh agreed. These ones great for smaller models, anything with some speed on, for me, corona servos are the first choice, Matt

Got few of these for kyosho mini inferno. So far works great and no duds :) For what they cost, they are awesome (around 2 eur in aliexpress). Mine has "lofty ambition mg90S" instead of tower but its same thing. Seen these sold under quite few names.

I got a pair of those which broke, its fake since only the servo horn shaft is a metal gear the rest of the internal gears are plastics.

Banggood towerpro servos are 100% fake. Mine had even TM after towerpro word inversed, like MT. TM means trademark, I think. But MT?!😂 I'm writing about sg90
