I have been thinking of doing something like this. Instead of pounding the hook into your board face in the log, i would just use a choker chain. Good video.
Thanks for the idea. I'm basically in the same situation, only I don't have a shed over our whole mill. Work in progress!😅 I almost busted a gut trying to roll a 24" red oak yesterday 😮
just like mine, but everything is on the sawmill. so i can bring it everywhere. also, i don't nail the log, 2 turn and i hold the cable by hand, friction is more than enough even for a 30" maple 12ft long. 14:28 done by the cable while turning the log. 90,180 or any degree in between i need. a sawmill can also be used as a lathe to make round timber. or hexagon. or twisted hexagon...
I used an electric boat winch, made a bracket that just slips in the the side of my LT 15, no drilling or welding, works like a dream and fast, hooked the bat. cable to the engine bat.
Awesome video get a 4 inch wide 6fy. 8 long and choke the log with the sling and hook one end to the winch. Works great u don't h ave bang in the hook.
Thank you Yes I do, it has been a great machine and we have been using it a lot lately. I’m trying to split up three years worth of wood this year so I’m ahead and also using wood that has been dried for two years.
It’s a nice setup. The one thing you might want to consider is using a hook off an old cant hook. They are rounded on the and it bites into the log from the top. That way you don’t have to pound them into the log. I put up a video of my set up. (I pulled from the wrong direction though.- first time) here’s the link ua-cam.com/video/j2_gnZpDzhw/v-deo.htmlsi=JhRWFFVdlTYlSQD9
Pretty clever idea on the log roller Kirk, works like a charm.
Great idea!!! Good looking mill shed. Subscribed

All good additions! Log turner is great. I like the plastic pipe on the stops for smooth turning.

I use a boom pole with a chain for bark on logs, then switch to a strap so I don't mare the cant.

Sling
With solar up there
Doesn’t that damage the finished product?
Would the log turner still work like that if your mill wasn't on a trailer?
@@bard44 yes it would
That looks like a well thought out set up. Do you still run the Supersplit?
Thank you
