So after spending all my weekends on this (minus the weekend I went to EDC 😂) it's finally done! I know 40 minutes can seem intense but I wanted to give you EVERYTHING I could think of. I put timecodes in the description to help! Thanks for being so supportive while I grinded this out, I hope the wait was worth it 🙂
Subscribed! Thanks for all the work you put into this, and the timecodes in the description were very much appreciated for when I inevitably come back to revisit this video.
What a great and lovely explanation. Really it's seems that u have given all your knowledge in that 40 minutes. Firstly when I saw that this video is of 40 minutes I thought how can I watch so long time .. but as the video moved 40 minutes goes in friction of second ... Really appreciate your hard work keep motivating us . Love from India 🇮🇳😘😘🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
empty the fridge and when you think about going to the store think about all the people unable to social distance, who refuse to wear masks or take it off to chat with someone they know in the store, who are probably still not washing their hands and keep sneezing everywhere. Tbh for me the whole current situation (esp the supermarket situation) was the little extra push/motivation I needed to stick with it. The store is literally across the street and 'quickly going to buy some coffee/trash bags/whatever' always ended in me also buying food - and subsequently eating it because yeah, once in the fridge it doesn't stay there for long
Go buy a bunch of mouse traps and set them and then put them in and around the refrigerator. Buy some tacks too. That should help keep you away from the fridge.
It's because a big meal causes a large spike in insulin, then once insulin drops again you feel a crash. Because to your body your insulin is very low as compared to how it was you feel very hungry
Funny because my entire life, everyone has preached to me about how bad and "unhealthy" it is whenever I don't eat. Like, I'd skip lunch bc I wasn't physically hungry at the time and coworkers would act like it was dangerous! Our society definitely conditions us into accepting some unnatural eating habits. And too many people just don't seem to understand that fasting is not gonna kill you.
It’s true. I’m different when it comes to eating. I have been intermittent fasting basically my entire life. Not because it’s a fad or anything, it’s pretty much my natural eating habit since I’ve been a kid. Believe me, I used to get in trouble with my mom all the time for skipping meals haha. I just listen to my body, sometimes it tells me not to eat even when I’m hungry which may sound odd. The thing is though, I look at least 5 years younger so I think I know why.
Story of my life. Coworkers and family members don't seem to get that I eat when I am hungry and not because of societal conditions. It has been years like. Glad to know I am not the only one in this
Hey, I've had the same experience. Colleagues would even say I have an eating disorder and said the way I eat is not normal but little do they know we got it right x
Same thing here man. I usually only start eating late in the afternoon around 3pm cause i'm not hungry before that. Sometimes i'll have a protein shake in the morning though. 2 days ago i ran 15km and i only ate a small can of corn and half an apple before the run. I could easily go through a day not eating. 2 days as well but i think my energy would drop too much to do sports. Still have to watch the video so maybe it is possible.
KenDBerryMD I’m here after stumbling upon your channel yesterday, ate carnivore after a 20 hour fast, and now going to try to do a full day water fast since all I had was protein and fat yesterday. Thanks for all the info!
Yes, definitely agree on that! One of the most powerful health hack and the best part is that its ACCESSIBLE to anyone, no matter which demograhy they belong to.
I was always hesitant due to the fear of muscle loss, but after completing a 5 day fast and a very slow 2 day re-feeding process, my physique has never looked better. Fasting is holy. It really makes us connect to our core.
@@bradsalubby nope, not a whole month. yes, they fast for a month but they eat twice, during sahoor (morning before the sun showed up) and iftar (where the sun starts to set) where they end their fast for the day. they fast for 13-15 hour a day. (depending on the timezone)

alternative day fasting ia a good get around for that, knowing you can eat the next day really helps out with the intermittent fasting, then knowing you cant eat on the concurrent day keeps the routine

So I fast once a year throughout the month of February. I just finished my yearly fast. I am also not an overweight person. I cut down from about 25% bf to 14% bf. Which is still perfectly in the realm of healthy body weight. 28 days nothing but water, all of you who freak out about fasting should try to maybe go a week without eating and just see what happens. It's kind of the whole reason we store fat, it's so we have energy when food reserves are low. That "hunger" you feel not eating for only a day or two isn't hunger it's a craving for carbs and sugars which people eat WAY too many of.
@@loqueando666 I'm a pretty slim woman. I'm on my 9th day of fasting. I think woman can fast more because they naturally have higher body fat percentage compared to men.
so I'm currently fasting and watching fasting videos like this one for motivation but, the ads for the video keep showing food commercials. Damn you UA-cam.
They do it on purpose. It's the food industry-they of course lose money when people fast. Everything you/I watch on youtube is tracked, even if you delete your search history. So it's not just a coincidence. Kinda freaky, huh? Good luck and take care x
I was starting to feel hungry, and am incidentally at the 24 h mark, so watching this made me leave those thoughts out. I'm not restricting to only water, but natural liquids. So the burning is slower, but it'll help me stick to it more easily and for longer.
I'm currently 250 pounds and 6 foot so I'm definitely overweight. I've battled addictive behaviours with food since I was starved as a child but I have found fasting for the past 5 days has dramatically changed my thoughts on food. It's early days but I have never felt this positive about my relationship with food on any so called diet so I've hopefully found what I've been searching for, for years

@illicitlitmisfit if you have never done fasting and want to then i'd suggest trying no breakfast, then no br and lunch, then 24 hrs, then 48 etc. it depends on what your goals are. i currently am doing 3 days every 7 days. i want to lose 10kg. i used to fast 3 days a month and found the mental and physical effects work wonders in this regime. dont forget to add the salt.
Awesome, keep up the great work :)! I jumped straight into a 1:23 omad with about 30 mins of cycling and 10 minutes on the elliptical alternating days, and have been successful for about a 3 and half weeks, I've lost 3.5kgs so far. I have severe lower back pain and and my chiropractor recommended losing weight before surgery is necessary. I feel like I could easily do the 48 hour water fast and see how far I can push it from there, every recurring week.
Thank you for your comment....I’m doing intermittent for few good weeks now and today starting 2 days fasting....hopefully I will be able to work up more and more days...
Check out the snake diet. You use snake juice(basically salt water) to keep your electrolytes up and not feel like crap. It's better than doing a water fast. You'll have energy. The recipe is on his channel.
As a medical doctor, i cant help but fact check all the papers and the science and I am impressed with your thorough review. I wonder if I could request you to review the science behind fasted cardio if there is any. Also, keep up the good work, I always watch and rewind and enjoy, much appreciated.
I've water fasted for 19 days. I went from 265lbs down to 225lbs during that time (I was pretty active still, walking/running 5-8 miles a day, and playing volleyball). I water fast (2-3 days) almost every week now.
Are there any precautions you took to prep at all? I got dizzy walking with a weight vest on, and ended my fast at 98hrs. I think i had about 3-6lbs of permanent fat loss
@@hellonearth6092 Sorry for the late reply. I actually let myself go a little after that fast (personal issues). I went back up to about 255 lb then I started fasting weekly (what I stated above) and as of right now I'm at 218 right now (about 45 days). I'm super active so that's how I'm keeping the fat off right now.
@@rharnevious no real precautions, I researched a lot before I really stepped into the extended fast (I was shooting for 30 days, but I ended it at 19 because of hungry). I just made sure I was taking magnesium, potassium, and getting my electrolytes in. Somedays I had more energy and some days more lightheaded than others. Also, I did ruck while fasting too.
I'm honestly speechless, at the amount of time and effor put into this video. Being in the scientific and fitness industry, I can say its complete, you have manage to take such complicated concepts and break them down into a digestable format for viewers to understand. I'm presently doing a 3 day fast, I'm on my first day. I hope to drop to 126, gain my 3 up to 129. Then go at it again next month. My goal is 126 before January. You are very wise. Too many people on here are diving straight in to a big fast. I have been intermittent fasting with low carbs for two weeks before I started a 3 day fast. Two days in and I am finding it quite easy and I plan to 3 day fast once a month the same as you
I’m surprised you didn’t drop more weight? Are you jumping back into eating slowly post fast? Do you ever exercise? Also, are you restricting carbs post fast? All these things would probably help you hit your goals pretty fast

@@datatsushi2016 Can you give some sources to your statement? Why would fasting benefit elderly people any less than younger folks? Sounds like a made up fact to me.

You don't need to have scientific scources to understand why wiping your ass after taking a dump is better than not wiping it after taking a dump right? Well the same thing applies here. You probably won't read me but I just want to say that I've had always been interested in water festing, but whenever I've searched for it, insetead of appearing to me information about water festing, there was only about intermitent festing. So not only you've informed me about water fasting, but you have even made it covering all of it with great detail. Thank you so much!
I used to be fearful of prolonged fasting because I was concerned that it would slow my metabolism, but after seeing a lot of videos with content linked to scientific studies, I no longer fear that anymore and wish I had started a program of prolonged fasting sooner.
It's best to initially decide on 48 hours, then add on from there. The first two days are when the cravings are most intense. Once you get over that hump, it's all down hill. I don't even want food after I get past those first two days, so it's a good way to trick my brain by deciding to "only go for two days" to get to the stage where I have more control. Then I can simply decide not to eat from there. I need to employ such tactics since I cook for the family. Dinner throughout the week, breakfast lunch and dinner on weekends when they seem to eat nonstop, but they have a metabolism that allows for it.. so even with my circumstances, this method works for me. Also, if you have a hypoglycemic attack, don't panic! Just have some almond milk, or chicken broth, you should get instant relief, if not, some jello or a banana will do the trick. Low residue foods are only a minor speedbump as opposed to a break in your fast, and wont bring back the stomach growls. I never made progress before I did this.. Hopefully what I've learned, through much trial and error can help people out there!
I'm gonna have the same mindset as you dude. I wanna try to go to 5 or 7 days but i'll tell my brain I only want 2 days. Thanks for unintentionally motivating me lol
I started my water fast yesterday and will add potassium and sodium, and hope to reach 40 days but will see how it goes and hope for a minimum of 21 days. Wish me luck!
@Digbick Hey, don't let anyone get you down and only lose weight for yourself. I hate to disappoint you but water fast is a very bad way to lose weight, as even if you do lose weight (being water) a lot at start, it will slow down extremely aftewards. So for weightloss I'd recommend intermittent fasting like 1 or 2 meals a day especially if you cut out sugar and carbs. Take care xx
The density of knowledge in this is unreal. I've paused a few times just to let it seep in. This really is a helluva font of information. Bravo! You should be really proud of this, Dorian.
I’ve watched this video multiple times hyping myself up to start a water fast. I’ve tried before and the longest I’ve went was only 1.5 days which isn’t bad coming from someone that has such an addiction to food, namely sweets. I have started a water fast Nov 1 and I’ve made it to day 3 and I’m incredibly proud and so very happy. It was so much easier to keep going when I took the time to check in with God, with myself, go over my goals and lock in. I weighed myself in the beginning of first day and was 200 lbs (90.72 kg) and I will weigh myself after a week so Nov 7. Thank you for this crucial information and shoutout to everyone choosing to prioritize your health and be disciplined in your fasting. Love to all of you!!! ❤❤❤
I fast 72 hours at a stretch. I'm 1/2 way to my goal in less than 6 months. I wanted to drop 80lbs in less than a year and it's happening thanks to intermittent fasting and a low carb diet. It's real, and it's perfectly healthy. I tell people what I'm doing and their first reaction is "Oh I could never go without food for that long". The can, they just don't want to. Every time I feel tempted to abandon my fast I just remind myself I'd rather be mildly annoyed by hunger pangs temporarily than fat and sick permanently.

I recommend complete rest (take a vacation) so you allow your body to heal and you don’t waste electrolytes. Also, I no longer drink tea or use toothpaste during the water fast because it makes “keto breath” worse. Keto breath will make your mouth taste terrible and your tongue feel like a desert. Set a timer for every 5-10 minutes and take small sips of water. 4-5 quarts of water a day is essential. The less you do the further you will go into a fast without the resultant side effects (weakness, dizziness). DO NOT WORK OUT DURING A WATER FAST, I learned that the hard way
Great idea! I would really appreciate a post video about how to re-feeding. In my opinion re-feeding could be the hardest challenge. After two days with vegetables and fruits today it's my first day only drinking water.
@Ken Tuttle I haven't researched this yet so this is just a thought. The video talked about fasting and going into ketosis as "being in our DNA". Meaning its how we developed based on life. So... in times of no available food our bodies change to ketosis. I am thinking if I was back in the day and had not eaten for 3 weeks and my group suddenly caught a large animal I don't think we would have sat around saying lets only eat a very little since we haven't eaten anything in 3 weeks. I am sure its going to be a feast and as such wouldn't that also be in our DNA?
That’s it Dorian you’ve convinced me to take this up, I’m going to aim small maybe 3 days. For a little understanding I’m 298 and 5’4 I’m used to a daily calorie intake of 2500-3100 I eat a lot. But it’s time for me to prove to myself that I am in control and life is food vs food is life... WML
I did a 19 day water fast my first time and it was fantastic. I'm now on day 4 of another one over 3 years later. It is so worth it! I'd never succeeding by just cutting it6 certain kinds of foods. A blanket bad was easier and no kidding yourself about cheating. Have you started yet? How's it going?
thank you! been doing for 7 days fasting and it feels really good. now I know why it was kinda hard to sleep on these 3 days. I feel alert all the time
I think the 1st day is the toughest because all I wanted to do was eat but after that I was good. But on the 3rd day I started getting unstoppable hiccups and terrible acidity so I decided to stop. However, I will try once again this monday. Good luck
Im 189 pounds and my target is around 133 - 169. Ive done several fasts in the past. I find the more you do it the less intense the hunger pains are. The hunger would last usially up to 3 days until the body gets the gist of whats going on. A neat trick to tell if you are getting more minerals than you need is to check your pee. If its yellow then you have more than enough. If its clear then you have around just enough to not enough. Tough its a good idea to get electrolytes if you plan to exercise while fasting. If you have a real problem commiting to a fast, take a step a way from it for a few weeks and come pack at it again. Its fine if you don't mannage to commit to the fast several other times after. Your goal should be to build a mental resistance to hunger. Be familar with hunger and be at peace with it. Don't give up. Keep at it until you find success. Im going on a long term fast since its quite the distance for my weight target.

Social distancing from fridge is so hard during quarantine.
empty the fridge and when you think about going to the store think about all the people unable to social distance, who refuse to wear masks or take it off to chat with someone they know in the store, who are probably still not washing their hands and keep sneezing everywhere. Tbh for me the whole current situation (esp the supermarket situation) was the little extra push/motivation I needed to stick with it. The store is literally across the street and 'quickly going to buy some coffee/trash bags/whatever' always ended in me also buying food - and subsequently eating it because yeah, once in the fridge it doesn't stay there for long
Hahaha 😂
Go buy a bunch of mouse traps and set them and then put them in and around the refrigerator. Buy some tacks too. That should help keep you away from the fridge.
Since I'm not going to the store as often, I'm finding it easier to avoid snacking.
Not for me it takes discipline
its been 20 minutes that im doing this and I almost see the light

What? 😂

Have you ever noticed when you go to bed hungry you wake up feeling fine, but go to bed after eating a giant meal and you wake up starving? 😊
Yes!! Also, if I eat a breakfast, I get hungrier for lunch... So I just skip it.
This is sooo me
It's because a big meal causes a large spike in insulin, then once insulin drops again you feel a crash. Because to your body your insulin is very low as compared to how it was you feel very hungry
When you eat a big meal before bed, your metabolism naturally speeds up and so you wake up hungry.
This is soooo daaamn true !!! Crazy !!
Glad to know I am not the only one in this
Hey,
I've had the same experience.
There used to be extreme malnutrition and starvation in our country. I think we went too far though with the 3 square meals a day.

I completely agree with you I'm on day 16 right now if you go take a look at my channel i'd appreciate it

Check out the snake diet. You use snake juice(basically salt water) to keep your electrolytes up and not feel like crap. It's better than doing a water fast. You'll have energy. The recipe is on his channel.
Dry fast or Salt water fast. Plain water is crap. See Cole Robinson UA-cam channel and Instagram. He is the expert he branded snake juice diet.

I've found after several waterfasts that taking .5 to 1.0 tsp of Himalayan Salt helps to replace trace minerals lost and keep me feeling well with no dizziness or headaches. I personally wouldn't even consider doing a water fast without this vital supplement. Just my 2 cents from my experience. Excellent video, very informative..
Sole might be way better. It's liquid and you have to water it down so that its not so much
Erik, I am the same and I also continue to take my pro-biotics and multi-vitamins and minerals too! X
@@ExcelInLifeFaith-sq3pb wouldn't taking multi vitamins break your fast? If they're in soft gel form, that's technically fat right.. ? I've heard certain vitamins like but D and fish oil, e, k etc aren't really absorbed unless you eat w them too.
Also, if you have a hypoglycemic attack,
don't panic!

Awesome! You can do it! I am right there with you. I started a 3 day dry fast yesterday, then switching to water. I have about 60 lbs to lose!
@@rrjljrw thanks 🙂. For how long do you want to waterfast and are you taking any supplements?
@Digbick take care and hope it also works out fine without electrolytes...will keep my fingers crossed 🙂
Thanka for the kind words bro!
I am 1 minute in and I can already tell this is one of the highest quality health science channels on UA-cam!
@cswann8 please tell your fasting routine.... I needed to know the benefits .... thank you ❤️
Losing 80 pounds is my goal too! Just started 16:8 and working up to 72 hr fasts slowly. I'm 5'1 and *was 86 kilos. One week of 16:8 and I'm down to 83.8 kilos, so already 8 pounds down!

38 hrs into my first prolonged fast. Been doing 16's and 24's for a month now.
Very accurate play by play. I’ve done 3 fasts over 21 days and a couple over 14. This video is a great lesson for people scared of longer fasts. DO NOT WORK OUT DURING A WATER FAST, I learned that the hard way
I'm on day one of my 7 day fast that i'm choosing to do on my vacation from work. Thank you for your advice .
Wow this video really helps me! I just have 1 little tip: maybe post a video about how to re-feeding?
Great idea! I would really appreciate a post video about how to re-feeding. In my opinion re-feeding could be the hardest challenge. After two days with vegetables and fruits today it's my first day only drinking water.
Read through the comments, I just commented on how I break the fast after an extended fasting period; how I break it and how to refeed.
WML
You can do it! You've got the desire and motivation. Stay in that mindset.
I did a 19 day water fast my first time and it was fantastic. I'm now on day 4 of another one over 3 years later. It is so worth it! I'd never succeeding by just cutting it6 certain kinds of foods. A blanket bad was easier and no kidding yourself about cheating.

@@its.chris4324 How'd the second attempt go?
The most elaborated explanation on youtube. Clears every doubt.
