The Civic has been a longtime favorite of ours, this 10th gen is impressive, especially content for $$$. Excellent, very thorough review, as always!

Great video Alex. One cool thing about the Civic for 2016 is it uses extremely high end and exotic very hard steel in almost the entire car. The highest rating automotive grade steel known is used in almost the entire structural part of the car. The entire unibody. Whereas most new modern cars use their exotic steel (almost as high a grade) in just some of the structure. Usually in the a-pillar and lower rockers and floor and b pillar. The civic uses tons of it everywhere. Pretty impressive huh? Hondas always been on the forefront of body construction and that's one thing I enjoy about them. I'm not really a Honda fan either!

Honda civic, the best selling car in Canada for 17 years and one of the top 3 in the U.S......very reliable, great car.......that's all the hype people make about something. I have had a 2014 civic, tons of problems, many of which are not solvable and Honda denies them, it has taken me to the dealership more than any other car I have ever had,,,,whatever they make, I am not gonna be fooled again by the hype around something....good review Alex, as always. thanks

Thanks for another great review, Alex. Do you think you might do a mini review of the Touring trim in the near future to see if it improves on any of the scores for seat comfort, ride and acceleration? I'm living vicariously through reviews like yours until I'm able to get my new Civic in a month or two. :)

I am not used to watch a good car review from US, but you`ve done a very good job here.
Mostly car reviews are (even Lamborghini Ferrari), its sexy, looks good, leather interior, white color, very bad hadling (to a Ferrari???) blah blah blah. There are so many videos out there without any `number` in it...
I got all I need here, even detailed interior demonstration. Have decided to buy one of them.

Thanks as always Alex!!! My oldest daughter just bought her first car...a 2016 Civic EX-L w/Honda Sensing. It is fantastic! And would still love to see you drive one of the 1.5L Turbo's...my daughters love watching your reviews with me.
Anyway, if I didn't love my 2015 Accord Hybrid Touring so much...I'd buy one of these 2016. :-)
We're up to our eyeballs in Honda's now...and we are loving it...bought another "used" 2015 Civic EX-L w/only 2,500 miles on it last fall...and this new 2016 is MUCH MUCH bigger where I feel that Honda has really blurred the lines between the Accord and the Civic. I'm 6'-5" and the 2016 is really comfortable for me...not as wide feeling, but so much bigger that I feel everyone that is looking at used Accords (as my older daughter was) should check out the 2016 Civic.
She's already gotten 42.7 MPG in highway driving...and 34.8 MPG on another tank...again pretty good as I'd gotten 42.3 mpg w/my Accord Hybrid on 4,000+ mile trip through 7 National Parks in Utah, Arizona, and California last year (with LOTS of brisk driving on lonely beautiful roads with the whole family.
Again would love to see you behind the wheel of the 1.5 Turbo. Appreciate you!!!

It's funny looking through the comments. When he reviews the top level trims people complain, and now when he reviews a more mid level trim people are still complaining. I do love the new Civic though. I almost bought a 2015 Civic but went for the Fit instead, luckily as I would have been pissed when I saw how much better looking the new one is.

  • @rich7043

Very well done and comprehensive review. This new 10th Gen Civic is really nice with impressive optional safety features. Regarding comparing this car to Nissan's & Mazda's offerings the Civic will likely reward you with significantly better resale value as well as long- term reliability. Additionally I am a fan of Mazda's sporty driving dynamics however they suffer from too much road noise in my opinion, and lack Honda reliability.

I'm not crazy about this new corporate grille because it's about as gaudy as the 1st gen Ford Fusion. It's as if they're trying to "out-chrome" the competition, even Acura. Call me old school, but I've always thought Civics should not have a grille between the headlights, like the CR-Z. Otherwise, it looks alright, kind of a blend of the Crosstour's shape, with the Fit's rear. Those rear quarter windows make it look less like a Civic sedan. Great review.

I had this car (2017 model with 5000 KM on it) on loan for 3 days whilst my 2016 Hyundai Elantra's body was being repaired (light fender bender). That infotainment system is soooo sluggish that it's really annoying. The seats are so firm that on long trips my ass was numb. The suspension is harsh on bad roads (as can be seen in this video). The interior is noisy. The CVT is too "grabby" from a stop, requiring you to use the brakes needlessly at low speeds to restrain the car in stop-and-go traffic (no wonder they have that "brake hold" feature). The fuel economy is about the same as my car. I was glad to get my Elantra back.

Alex I am glad you mentioned the Mazda 3 vs. the Civic. I have had many Honda products before and have been happy. I have been looking at the Mazda 3 because of the driving dynamics. The Civic looks like a better bargain, but I have to decide if the difference in dynamics is worth it. I had a Civic before though many years ago, and it was fun. All the other cars are off my radar. I am driving a Fit as a company car, and it is like a billy goat, and goes anywhere, without any problems. It just goes. Honda reliability is something I am also looking at. Nice review Alex.

the only reason i would choose the Corolla over the Honda is that the Corolla has standard LED headlights, unlike the civic which makes you go for the highest Trim to get them.

    • @oldtwins
      @oldtwins 8 років тому +1

+iTsTheVoLtAgE the thing is, the led headlights on the corolla are not very good at all. they used a very cheap design with weak output.

oldtwins the corolla's LED's dont look that bad.. i was just saying that it kind of sucks that you have to go for the highest trim to get Honda's LED's. i'm also not a big fan of the LCD instrument panel with the digital gauges and such.

    • @howardpower
      @howardpower 7 років тому

My other car is a corolla and the led headlights are super nice and long lasting. Cuts sharp and gives off nice purple/blue tint. But if led headlamp is the only thing preventing you from getting a civic, then it’s definitely the wrong way to go about it. It’s got way more features than the corolla and looks super sportier. Turbo charged motor gives it way better performance than the corolla by far and at the same time, getting like what? 32 mpg city? Not too shabby. I personally would go for the touring model. It’s still fairly cheap.

Hey Alex, I noticed (as multiple others did) that the display was properly rendering Chinese characters. I'd like to know if that was CarPlay or via Honda's UI. I have the 2015 Sonata and that was the only car I've seen that renders more than one language via the native Hyundai UI.
Also, I'm VERY interested in cars that are able to render multiple languages for songs (especially Chinese, Korean, and Japanese). I can provide songs in multiple languages if you would like to cover that in your reviews.

Just an FYI, I believe most Compact cars you have to step up to the top trim to get power seats. So the Titanium for the Focus or the LE Premium ECO Premium and S Premium for the Corolla, etc....So Honda is consistent with the rest of the competition I believe. Honda offers power adjustments in their seats in the Touring Trim. ;-)

the correlation is bigger? well maybe longer, but rhetoric civic is way wider. my mom has a 14 corolla and car seats fits on the back and I have plenty of room (I'm 6'1). but in the front I hit the passenger with my elbow and I test drove the civic and the center armrest is noticeable wider.

Excellent reviews on this channel, I must say. However, I see a, probably unintentional, bias against Chevy cars. I wonder why the Cruze is never mentioned in any of the comparisons. In the pricing comparison almost every other car in this segment is mentioned except the Cruze. Some in the list sells far less than the Cruze. Similary, in the midsize sedan reviews I hardly see the Malibu mentioned in any comparisons.

+George Samuel Raju I generally try to limit comparisons to the top 3-4 on the sales charts and models that are high in cross shops from some of the market research companies. The Cruz and Malibu don't tend to sell that well and since I can't talk about all the options I have to cut somewhere. I also left out the Jetta, Impreza, Dart, etc.

There is a recall for non turbo engine civic. Postpone your purchase if you are considering 2.0 model.

I think this is a beautiful affordable car my only complaint is the back it looks weird if it had the same back as the accord it would probably be the most beautiful honda for the price tag

Honda has replaced the capacitive touch volume control with buttons in the CRV. Maybe the Civic will follow suit.

    1) 2016 Scion iA 2) 2016 Honda fit 3) 2016 Mazda3 4) 2016 Honda Civic.
Which vehicle would you guys recommend and why? P.S The car that I would get would be the base model and they would be automatic. I have decided that these are the best cars I can get for the money and I am having trouble deciding which one to get. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Does it have options to set the sensitivity of the Lane Departure System? That's way too aggressive and I'm worried about mis-reading under certain circumstances.

Nice review Alex. I hope you get a chance to take a look at the 2016 Malibu soon, preferably the 2.0t version. I test drove the 2.0t and 1.5t the other day and was not too impressed with the 1.5t, but the 2.0t with the 8-speed just felt so smooth and effortless.
I test drove the 2016 Civic touring when it came out a couple months ago but it just wasn't for me. The interior was very nice, but the ride was loud, throttle tip in was terrible (I had to mash the peddle to go anywhere, but once mashed it sure moved), and ride was not the smoothest. Of course I didn't expect it to excel in any of these areas, being an economy car, but my Versa is more comfortable.

I was hoping for a review on the EX-T or Touring model; I'm VERY curious on Honda's take on the turbocharging game everyone has a mad on for these days.
Also, 月亮代表我的心? So do you speak Chinese Alex?

Why doesn't the 2016 Accord have a digital center? It doesn't even have an LCD between the tach or speedometer..

Hi Alex. Do you know the Honda manual transmission has hill start features ? meaning the transmission will hold the car form sliding down when you put the clutch in first gears...
