In a shocking twist of events, Bowser kidnaps Peach inside her own castle. Mario shows up and rains on Bowser's parade by collecting all 120 stars and winning in record time.
Numerous bugs are exploited in order to speed up Mario's progress and the physics engine is abused to its fullest.
This is an improvement of 18:08.33 over the previous movie by Rikku.

Doing the 100-coin star while waiting for Koopa the Quick is such a flex.

But also super efficient, because you have to wait for Koopa anyways.

The fact of grabbing that 95th star, while being considered dead by the game, all so that you could save the animation of Mario getting out of the painting with the star is pretty damn insane !

Played this game with only one fear that I would fall off the maps if I didn't jump right or didn't catch something in time. Watching this reminded me of the hours I put into this one game of many and I can't IMAGINE the amount of hours put into testing and planning every jump, flip, hit, and any other actions required. Good run. Thumbs up!
Hey please don't take this the wrong way but this helped my nephew fall asleep. It took about 13 minutes into the vid for him to conk out, but I figured if I use TASes to fall asleep he'll like them. Thank you!

The way the TAS played in Rainbow Ride made me notice that this is a 120-star carpet less run! He didn’t use a carpet at all!

Over a decade later and this TAS is STILL the most optimal so far
It'll be interesting to see what glitches and strats pop up to improve it even further though, and it'll be exciting when a faster TAS shows up for 120 stars
EDIT: And I think I know how? Though I don't know the tech or anything, but notice how the 100 coin and red coin stars only SOMETIMES appear at the same time (Whomp's Fortress, as an example) since they spawn in close vicinity, yet it didn't happen in Hazy Maze Cave or Tiny Huge Island (despite also spawning in close vicinity). I can tell it can't happen on Tall Tall Mountain as an exception, but if there's a way to have the double star spawn take place on the aforementioned courses, time can definitely be saved!

That amazing trick with the Metal Cap in Jolly Roger Bay makes me clarify that the metal cap is still usable even though every speed runner doesn’t care about pressing the metal cap switch.
