Ethan asked where he bought the sword and he wasn't sure. This COA is fake he said, where did you buy it, he is like "Uhh, I thought I bought it from etc, but not sure."
While I lived in San Diego I had a P.O. box. They slot our mail in around 9 AM. I arrived 10 minutes early. An old gentleman was waiting for his mail as well. So we started chatting etc. Then he tells me he was one of the stars on Bonanza (sp?). Also stared in many western movies. I forget his name now, but I googled him and sure enough it was him!
Ethan asked who he bought it from and he didn't know, he said he thought he bought it from western costume company but he wasn't sure. How does he not know?
Western Costume was a large multi-story wooden warehouse on Western Ave that was owned by all the studios. They stored thousands of costumes there re-using them for various movies. On Halloween they rented costumes to the public. I rented a 1700s period costume once, inside the vest it said "Bob Hope". But by no means does that mean he wore it. They had dozens and dozens of costumes available for major stars in playing any role in any movie. Most were never used, or used by someone else later. The tag on that sword is totally meaningless.
6:25 This is the kind of rare expression when a seller can't say a word against anything being claimed by experts because it's authenticity literally denied from the sources. I feel bad for the man.
Just so I'm understanding this. Instead of calling an expert you call in his son who is not an expert who then calls an expert..... Next time just get an expert.
This also goes to show that just because you have a CoA, doesn't mean the item is genuine. It's just a piece of paper that can be faked more easily than the item being sold. Even if CoAs had watermarks, microprinting, and colour shifting ink, the person who issued the certificate could be misinformed or a fraudster.
It's kind of uncanny but if you look at the old man at 52 seconds into the video, he looks just like Cory. Cory looks a lot more like his grandpa than his dad.
Lmao whaaatttt???? Everyone knows who John Wayne is. I’m in my early 20s and I know who he is... you should definitely check out his old westerns they are really good. ☺️
He actually has 3 sons, Michael, Patrick and Ethan.....pretty sure that all 3 appeared in various movies with The Duke, and even directed or produced a few too👍🏻👍🏻
Really the fact that some famous actor used something in a movie is worth nothing as far as I'm concerned. That is the same as people who are star struck when meeting some famous person. I have a excellent mechanic and he's honest. I know his pricing is right. These are the type of people who receive my admiration.
Seller says he got it from Western Costume Company. Then, he proceeds to say "well, I thought it was from Western Costume Company??!!" Why would they fake thier own COA? And all of a sudden he goes from knowing where he bought it to not sure. Top it all off with divulging he has 6 more of those at home. Something doesn't add up.

John Wayne's son...that's actually a good buddy to call
No
@@beatstork what do you mean no?
@@loveofmangos001 No
It's a massive flex
It would be the same if they would call the store owner directly. He could have told them that he does not issue CoAs.
The guy knew it. He got nervous about an expert and then more nervous about calling the signer of the COA
Ethan asked where he bought the sword and he wasn't sure. This COA is fake he said, where did you buy it, he is like "Uhh, I thought I bought it from etc, but not sure."
That certificate looked freshly printed from his own PC !
the show is acted out after they make a deal, they made him ask who the expert was so rick could say "John Wayne's son"
BUSTED!!!
He admitted it when he said he had five more of "the sword" John Wayne used in Rio Grande.
The first give away was when the guy snapped back “who’s your expert?” Then immediately shrunk back when he heard who it was.
Thought the same thing. That guy was such a fraud.
Absolutely thank you fellows
That's true. I've got the same idea.
You're absolutely right......
Ya watch his reactions lol
rick: let me call a buddy of mine
ricks buddy: let me call a buddy of mine
And it goes deeper..
Ricks buddy these things are all over the place they decrease in value I'm not really sure what it's worth
Rick's buddy's buddy: Let me call Rick.
Ricks buddys puppy: Let me call my wife
Buddyception
It doesn’t get any better than that to have his son come down , and his son called the guy for extra confirmation!

Sorry when I think of America I don't think of John Wayne.Mickey Mouse yes.

AMEN
2:16 the man’s facial expression says it all. 😂
Fun fact: John Wayne's grandson, Brendan Wayne, is one of the stunt doubles for the Mandalorian.
The guy knew the sword was fake - he had five more of "the sword" John Wayne used.
pause at 2:16 after Rick tells him Wayne's son's comin in.. Thats the guys "Eeeee 😬 oh no they caught me" face
The old man is so awesome.
That look you give when you know you're about to get busted for forgery.
The seller knew. I can tell by his defence before the expert came. Con artist
When Ethan asked who he bought the sword from he didn't know. He said he thought he bought it from western costume but wasn't sure.
@@Hotonez303 Whenever they say they don't know where they bought the fakes then its them.

Yea, got that impression from the start

RIP to the Old Man. We know he’s up there in the sky squinting and looking down
Just meeting John Wayne's son in general would be priceless
Idk the guy doesn't look too comfortable when the Ethan was on the phone telling him it's cut and paste...

I think the same as you
Rest in Peace to the Old Man .
@2:05 looking at his reaction when he was told that they will call john wayne's son I knew it was fake.
Good old Ethan, he is named after character his dad played in "The Searchers" (1956) and he played his dad's grandson in "Big Jake" (1971)
Rick knew..... that look was staring right through him
Into his soul lol
I've seen a lot of "Let me call a buddy of mine..." from Rick, but this is absolutely the best
I miss the "Old Man". He was the best.
Love the detective work in this.
I thought the guy was gonna bolt for the door when the dude on the phone said it was a fugazi.
Buddy: Let me call my puppy

2:16 what is this look for?
john wanye's son..how cool to meet him. ..better than the item ..a memory for ever..
This guy was totally planning on selling all those other swords he mentioned to the pawn shop one by one. He thought he was slick lol

When he said " Either way it'll be great to meet him" I knew that he knew it was a fake.

That guy knew it was a fake and didn't expect what happen to line up the way it did.
That dude with glasses faked it
@6:27 they didn’t even shake his hand
6:04 I've got 5 more swords with the same COA also seemed a little fishy to me.
What he Meant to say was I made 5 more just like it
Rebecca's no fake; she's the Real McCoy!
I'm kind of thinking that seller is the one that did that copy and paste job lmao
I can't believe the seller didn't think of calling the number on the COA before buying the sword.
Seing pops😭 Full respect
I wasn't aware of Richard Snr. passing. My deepest condolences to your family.
