Smart decision by the seller , no doubt the piece is going to get tons of exposure and realistically if there is a collector out there even $18k is going to seem like a steal ! Finally someone with a brain that didn't give into the bald mans game .
its normal offer, you get money instantly sometimes something like this could sit for years and wouldnt even praised as pawn price, ok most of the time you would get better price but if you need money fast you dont care about couple grand
Not necessarily, art is subjective and it's really rolling the dice to buy art. If it were a rare coin, then 15 on 20 is doing well for buyer. He could sit on this and never sell it. There's a lot on art being a farce of an investment, check out some content about this.
@@jeesusmeesuss5247 You didn't get his point. 1000k wouldn't set him back. And, this is a famous artist so he would not have a problem selling it. This guy Rick is an idiot.
@@MarkoTiano I'm literally in the market of selling things and you have no idea what you're talking about. Art is not considered a solid investment and does not carry as much cash value as something is "appraised" at. Something with more liquidity is worth more to a seller. Art is low in liquidity. Extremely low. There's a reason why Rick will pay 70-80% and be alright for some things, and reasons why he can't do 50% on other things.
@@jeesusmeesuss5247 Yeah that's why art sells in millions worldwide, just ask Picasso. And, when I m talking art its not something this guy has in his pawnshop. The Salvator Mundi painting sold for 450 million....now that's art for you.
@@MarkoTiano so this guy, who is still alive, that no one has ever heard of outside the art community is now Picasso??? We're talking a wierd piece, not a Picasso, da Vinci, Van Gogh, Rembrandt. Those have passed the subjective test and time, this has not.
He had his heart on selling it for more, not for selling it. Had a pretty good offer. Cash money. Probably went to the expert and made a deal. Was fun to watch. Great video
I don't understand why sellers say things like "I was hoping to get 18-20 thousand dollars..." Once you say 18, there's no hope of 20, or any higher number than 18. Yes, I know there have been a few exceptions where Rick and Cory have offered higher numbers than the asking price, but that is "rarer than hen's teeth".
Just because it's unique doesn't mean it's worth anything. There's people who would buy that, but until that person comes in Rick is stuck with it. I know I wouldn't dish 2 dollars for that, someone could give me that, I would turn around and give it away.
Ricks using the restroom Customer knocks on door: excuse me sir I need to use the toilet, I'll only be a min Rick: best I can do is be out in an hour and I'm taking a huge dump here.
Customer wants $18k Expert: It’s worth $20k. Rick: best I can do is 8 grand. Hmm I wonder what isn’t right in this sequence? What could it possibly be!?
Exedess I was glad that the customer rejected it. Most important note if a pawnshop offer your the lowest price where you aren’t satisfied, reject it and go somewhere else until you find a better deal
I'd really love to know just what gets factored into these prices. Often it makes some sense but this item won't take much space, can do without restoration, is by a currently popular artist and I've seen him accept lower profit margins before...
Actually the doll is called Raggedy Ann, a character who first appeared sometime around 1918 (give or take). Annabelle is the name of a Raggedy Ann doll that is believed to be haunted/possessed, so you were half right. ;)
Good for the owner of the art . I bet he could put it on a auction art sight and make more than 12 G's for it . It is a rare piece one of a kind and some one dealing in art will appreciate it .
Most people who bring things in are merely looking to validate what they believe the piece is worth and think that they're gonna get that from a wholesaler like a Pawn Shop.
Rick didn't want it. To walk away from a deal over $1,000 on a piece like that where he would have made an $8,000 profit (if it's sold at $20,000 like the expert said) he just didn't want it. He thought it was ugly and he didn't want it in his shop.
