They both are very different. vf≠vi but vfx=vix and go to page number 37 of nbf it also says that x=vfx * t -----> x=vicos∅*t.
Sir in the last step in which you are deriving formula for horizontal displacement, first you wrote x=vfxt it's correct till here. But then in the next step u have done a mistake. Writing either of them will be incorrect. As we have derived earlier under the same topic that vfx=vicos∅ when we have resolved initial velocity into it's vertical & horizontal components. So finally putting vfx= vicos∅ in equation x=vfxt we get x=vicos∅t. N sorry but final velocity is not equal to initial velocity it's vfx & vix which are equal. In horizontal displacement due to neglecting air friction final velocity=initial velocity so you put any one of them
