- Short Piece on when Korn drum tech Abel 'Katfish' Vallejo filled in for Ray Luzier with Korn for their 20 yr Anniversary show of the legendary debut Self Titled album.
" hey man you killed it on drums tonight! But , technically you're still our roadie, so ... you know. Go ahead and break all this shit down now "
The roadies are usually personal friends, they will usually know the musicians setup perfectly. You get paid a good amount when you're the drum tech.
I bet they take very good care of him.
@@s3Mezith exactly there’s roadies then techs, roadies set up all the speakers and cables etc and techs focus on specific instrument you have guitar tech bass tech and drum tech
My favourite moment has to be at 5:45 when Munky, Fieldy, and Head are all looking to Able for the cue, and he absolutely nails it!
I had to stop drumming due to a shitty illness I have with my bones, but even I was feeling this man, you only need one break in life to shine and brother you did it
Abel you deserve a raise!
I was actually there for that show. I loved it. Sounded just as good as the studio versions, so he did an amazing job as a drummer. I'm a drummer myself, and I definitely can understand the anxiety of being given a huge responsibility like that, and then trying to perform. He nailed it. Great job on his part.
The rug really ties the stage together, man!
And they peed on it !!
If you don't want to smash into your singer you stay off the rug.
Well, ya know, that's just, like, your opinion man.
did it not? Donny, please
The motto of the story being: In life, grab EVERY opportunity and run with it, don't look back or down, just Jump. Respect, he nailed it. 🏆
He probably already knew 70 percent of their songs already but to get up there and do it, and not mess up is incredible.
Right. It's not everyday that you play in front of 30,000 people.
This has to be one of the best rock n' roll stories ever told. It's like a TECH's dream!
Someone had a baby, a tech/fan got to play a gig with his favourite band, and thousands of people enjoyed the concert ... gimme that kind of "infamous" every day.
That is awesome! Had to be a dream come true, to play WITH KoRn like that. You did awesome, congrats on a good show!
I was blessed to be a roadie for a day in San Diego a few years ago and Abel was so passionate about his work. so happy for him that he got his moment!!
The Who had the same situation when Keith Moon passed out in the middle of a show (after taking a horse tranquilizer before the show) and they asked out into the audience if anybody knew how to play the drums. A kid in the crowd named Scot Halpin was able to get up on stage, play the drums and finished the concert for them.
What a crazy ecperience that must of been.......I think Keith took a handful of horse tranquilezers though!
Yes he did. Right before the show.
Your Channel wooow
That's rock n' roll baby!!!
lol, jesus, a friggin horse tranquilizer....dude had the dealer apparently
Thank you for making the show happen! You did an awesome job filling in!
I was at that show. He nailed it! Kudos bro!
Bro... I´ve seen this video god knows how many times and every time I do, I feel proud for you even though we´ve never met! Keep it up bro!
Even if you are part of the band, you lived every fans dream. Way to kill it brother
This is the coolest damn thing I've seen in a while
Thanks for helping Ray out! Awesome in front of THAT crowd !!!!
Slayer
Dude hits with authority too! ....only a matter of time now that a band recruits him!
This guy gave me a drumstick the day Korn played here in Costa Rica... OMFG!!!... kuddos Katfish!!! and thanks... peace.
Damn, dream come true for that dude!
That's awesome to see a prayer answered like that!!!
A sweet story but infamous is the wrong word for the title ;)
I thought the same. Infamous, by definition, has a negative connotation.
Yeah, I was just bout to ask what was so infamous about it.....

The best thing about this is how the band gets reborned with the tension coming from Abel. Head was right when he said it was going to be awesome.
