What you wrote to your mama was beautiful! I can truly sympathize with your sentiments. My mother is no longer with us and I miss her each day. What makes me happy and inspired is her recipes. I think that is what has attracted me to your channel most. You keep family traditions alive. Thanks for all your support and amazing recipes! You have my commitment to be a loyal fan!
I just make my pudding on the stovetop in a heavy saucepan. You have to stir continuously, but it's much quicker than a double boiler. This looks absolutely terrific. I'm sorry about your mom. You speak of her as if she's still with you and she is. She's in you and around you in everything you do. God bless you, Tammy.
Mom taught me to cook cream pie in a pot on direct heat. Just stir constantly. She used the same basic recipe for butterscotch, chocolate, coconut cream, banana, and her specialty banana, pineapple and coconut combined, she entered it in a Bicentennial pie contest and won. Called it Hawaiian Surprise. She has frozen this concoction and it was good especially after it marinated.
I was very surprised to see the way you made your custard and that you used Flour. My mom used cornstarch & Evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla. She did not use a double boiler but I remember she was stirring and stirring for such a long time. She made her own crust and would pre-bake it and then lay coconut on top, and then add the pudding. She made homemade meringue. It was the lightest cream and the most delicious delicate pie. We all got one piece which was not enough and I thought when I grow up I’m gonna make a whole pie just for myself. Lol.. We were always amazed that it started with a can of evaporated milk. This recipe was from my great grandmother and I’m sure the reason she used evaporated milk was because during the depression fresh milk was hard to come by. It’s interesting to see your version brought back memories. Thank you
First year I love you show your cookie you cook awesome and delicious I love the way you talk I love the way you teach us how to cook different recipes And I love your Bible studies oh for heavenly father bless y’all❤️🌹
I love all your decorations in your house that’s my style I watch you as much as I can cooking that’s a lot of time Bless You and your family your husband gives good word in the Bible studies
Me too. I was an only child and she raised me by herself so she was the only family I had. It's unbearable sometimes because out of nowhere I will smell something or see or hear something and I'm just a mess! You would think after 12 years it would be a little easier but there's just nobody knows how it is until it happens to them. But I know she's in a much happier place than this ole world so it makes Heaven an even sweeter place to look forward to!
Looks delicious! I remember my dear late Mommy used to set on a pretty bar stool and make banana cream pie. She would cook it on medium low for 45 minutes. I would help stir if she had to go do something in another room. She used a flat stainless steel spatula to keep stirring it. She made a huge one in a 9 x 13 pan. Homemade Graham Cracker crust and bananas, with that homemade vanilla pudding. Then put whip cream on top. It was delicious!
What a lovely tribute to your mother. My mother has been gone for over twenty years but she lives on through myself and her granddaughter. God is amazing!
I hope you’re feeling better. When I make banana cream pie, I make it in a 9 x 13 inch cake pan and cut it in squares. I make a crust from scratch and cool my pudding. I make it with half and half and heavy cream so its very thick. When it's cooled, I beat it with additional heavy cream so it keeps its shape. I put the bananas on top of the crust, then the pudding and top with more whipped or cool whip extra creamy. People seem to love it. Sometimes I make the crust using peanut butter cookie crumbs. I use whatever I have, ground vanilla wafers, butter cookies, graham crackers. Doesn't matter. It all works.
Thank you for sharing your letter to your Momma. I lost my Mom also, and it hurts, but my consolation is that she is with our Lord! She raised me right and I thank her for that! Your pie looks like a winner! I thank you for all the hints. May God bless you and all of your family!
I’m new to your channel. And I’ve been watching a lot of your videos from far back. I’m so glad you cook like your momma. Because I do too. You’ve given me a lot of good tips. I miss my mom as I know you do yours as well. Happy Mother’s Day to our mommas 🥰
May 9th my mama has been gone 20 years. My dad married a lovely lady that was a former cafeteria manager and she's from Georgia and cooks a lot like you. Love Ya'll
Tammy, my sweet Mama, who I always called "Dearest", wrote a letter to God everyday. I wish I had one of those letters, but my 2 eldest brothers made sure that 4 of us didn't get one of those letters. I forgave them because I don't hold things in. Incidentally, 44 yrs. ago, my sweet husband taught me to make cheese scrambled eggs in the microwave. They are so good and fluffy. When preparing scrambled eggs, an iron skillet is nice, but a microwave is so much better. Thank you for teaching me about pudding in the microwave. I just love you so much
You’re dessert videos are the best. You should have your own bakery, your cakes are beautiful and I love your banana pudding recipe. You should’ve just used your microwave method at the beginning of this it’s perfection. It looks delicious. I miss my Momma too. Happy Mother’s Day🌹
I always make banana cream pie and refrigerate it overnight. The banana flavor soaks into the pudding and intensifies or time. I don’t mind if the bananas look awful. They taste great.
HelloTammy, Thank you so much for your video's!! Awesome!! I Love Banana Cream pie!!! You really break it down so everyone can understand....God Bless you and your Husband & Family!!! All the Best!!
When making desserts it can't get any authentic than recipes that come from people from households that learned from generations in the family that have passed onto their children and grandchildren. This lady is a true southerner. He accent is beautiful. She is full of life and a beautiful heart. Not like these modern day bloggers that have strange narratives about their lives. Even though I'm in my 30s I can relate to people from this lady's generation. I watch atleast one recipe on your channel every day while eating my breakfast 🤣😁!
We had a Tammy dinner tonight. I made your shepherds pie and we had the banana cream pie for dessert. My husbands favorite is banana cream pie but I would buy instant pudding to make it because I didn’t want to stand and stir at the stove. I made the pie today using your microwave method and it is DELICIOUS! My husband thanks you! ❤️🙏🏻❤️
My goodness this looks so yummy love love love banana cream pie and banana pudding. Your banana cream pie looks so good mouth watering good... I always get request for my banana pudding haven't made a pie yet but I will have to give it a try. I haven't eat a homemade banana cream pie since my Grandma was alive she made the best pies. She would make all kinds of homemade from scratch pies every one of them were delicious....
Your mother poem was so beautiful my mom passed away in 1993 so I know the feeling of lose of your parents my da Scottish for dad in 1985. Your pie looks delicious
Just ran across your channel last night and I love your channel and you! I’m going to start saying Ya all! From California. 😃🤩🌸❤️🙏 Beautiful poem about your Mama. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Y’all we have so much in common! It makes me happy to “meet” a kindred spirit. I’m Bec from 60 miles north of Dallas Texas. Much of your cooking is so similar to my Mommas way of cooking . My mother Ruby Jewel Anderson Hooker was the most wonderful southern cook. She did it with class and I tell you the truth, EVERYTHING she made tasted so good. I know you say most people who are passionate about cooking make wonderful cooks. I am now listening to you read a letter to her momma. 😩💗🙏 I miss my incredible beautiful momma so much more everyday. She really was a Jewel. Lost what I had to say about cooking 🤣 Thank you for bringing us here and for making us feel welcome and in my case like I’m at a Christian Sisters Home. Thank you for the joy and for blessing me by digging me out of my slump. Jesus answers prayers.
Yes she will be with you forever all of her lessons live in you and will always be ready to be remembered and taught her great advice and love will live on in you and your children forever 💟💟💟🙏🏻🙏🏻😊😇😇🤗🤗🤗
I know Tammy got sick and she wanted to teach her girls how to cook like mama did and all respects to granny cuz she doesn't leave her out either I don't know how to put it but thank the lord for her tutorials I am a newbie subscriber (and religious watcher) but look at the good that comes out of the bad. If she never had to over come her struggles I would be missing out on a grip of recipes that are to DIE FOR!!! I don't connect with any other southern channel no offense but thank you Tammy for sharing your gift you have no idea what ur cooking tutorials do for me in my family in LA california. I love that Chris is never left out also!!!!!! Thank u cvc
I bought the spice rack last month (sorry) and tammi i had to put them in alphabetical order so i could find rhe spices easier. You might try that too since you are always baking live. Love the show
If there ever was a time where I can be a bad guy.. I would steal that pie from you. I have to go to the store now and hope they have any banana cream pie on stock now. Loved your pie.
Thank you Tammy for sharing that message for your Momma. You see my Mom passed away last year too and it's been only just shy of 7 months ago. My heart was so heavy with grief but you turned that around for me. It's okay if I'm missing her and sad, I probably will the rest of my life. She was my best friend. I can't let my grief ruin what my kids want to do for me Mother's day wise. Thanks again 💖 Stay safe and God bless you & your family ❤ XOXO Great video and recipe. I'm going to try this microwave hack with my pineapple pie. Yum 😋
Watching this and it is 2021! That vanilla pudding sure is good too, and your fresh cream pie looks the best! And sorry for your loss! I lost my Grandmother this year so I feel ya.
People in Acworth talk just the same as you and I!! My husband and ALL of his family is from Pittsburgh, PA! First time they met me, they just wanted me to talk non-stop just so they could listen! They had no idea his to use ‘fixin’ in a sentence and thought grits and sweet tea were disgusting. 🤣🤣 Every girl raised in the a South loves grits and sweet tea! 🤣🤣
Yummy, My family will love that pie! Funny story, years ago, I was a young girl. My Italian Father. Loved Banana Cream Pie, and cake. We were invited to a family reunion, out of town. My Dad thought he would WOW our family with a Delicious Banana Cream Cake, from a very popular Bakery. We finished our meal, and couldn’t wait to dig into that delicious and pretty cake. One of the first family members to eat the cake, said, “wow”, it’s Delicious, but where’s the Bananas? To my Dad’s embarrassment, the Bakery forgot the BANANAS LOL! Everyone was laughing, and it was the joke of the family throughout the years Dad would love this Real Banana Cream pie, Tammy. Here’s to you Dad, and here’s to you Tammy! May you have the most Amazing Blessed Mother’s Day ever! ❤️🙏🌈😇🌷
I love your new home and gardens! Thank you for the cooking demonstration. :) I use coconut milk sometimes since my doc told me to stay away from dairy.
Bless your heart Tammy, my mother passed away on Mother’s Day weekend in 2017 and I miss her every single day, she was my best friend my next-door neighbor and I was her 24/7 caregiver the last six years of her life. I would not trade that time for anything. My heart and prayers are with you.
Tammy I lost my Mom May 2nd 2020 and like you my mom pulled me into the kitchen as a young child and I've never left. We were mother and daughter but we also were friends,we would laugh about alot of things but mostly she was my Mommy that will always be in my heart. Grief is a very powerful emotion and some of us get over it faster than others, I can only take mine one day at a time thank you Tammy with your letter to your mommy it was lovely. ❤
I was wondering where you put the microwave--I haven't seen you using it in recent videos. It must be really inconvenient to have it so far away from the prep & cooking area. When we remodeled our kitchen, I got one built in over the stove and I love it! No more chasing the microwave around the counter (portables are notorious for sliding because they are too lightweight now).
Omg’sh Tammy, I used to make homemade pudding and pies all of the time when I was first married. Seems like a million years ago..lol I need to start doing that again! Thanks for inspiring me! The pie looked 👀 amazing.:) That was a beautiful letter to your mama, Tammy.:) Thank you for sharing! Hope you have an amazing Mother’s Day!! 🙏🏼💕🌻😘🌷
Tammy I'm so sorry for the loss of your Momma. I am so dreading that day but I Spend many days with mom she is 87. I just want to enjoy as many days I can with her! Love watching your channel! God Bless you and Chris!
Did you get a new kitchen or have I been watching old episodes? It looks beautiful. You have been my lifeline during quarantine. I’m alone in an apartment and you talk to the camera like you are talking to your next door neighbor. I watch your videos as a pick me up and a comfort when being isolated gets tough. I appreciate you more than you know. If you ever need a new next door neighbor, let me know. This city girl would jump at the chance to have you for a neighbor. Sending you hugs and thanks.
Now this looks like the Banana PIE 🥧 I want to cook..only with the pudding/bananas. You sprinkled something on top the bananas. You’re so cute when you referred to the way you talk~~~REAL SOUTHERN GAL😊 This is my 4th video in a row..it’s now December 2021~~Christmas 🎄is coming. I just heard you refer to the LORD 👏🏻 Praise His Name, as HE is number #1 in my life. He’s not a religion, however He is a Relationship, as I figure you know this. Someday soon….we will see our loved ones, as ⚡️💥⚡️JESUS IS TRULY COMING BACK💥⚡️💥
I’d love to see how you make a double lemon cream pie. That’s my mother in laws and husbands favorite pie and at Marie Calendars it cost more then $20 so I’d really love to learn how to make it at home with a homemade pie crust. Thank you so much for all the videos.
Tammy the day you showed how to remove the seeds from the bananas was great. Have made this twice now since then. Pie will last 3 days does not turn dark and bananas don’t get mushy using that method. Thank you!
I’ve been making cream pies in the microwave for several years. My dear sweet aunt who was in her 80s always used the microwave. Your letter to your Mama made me cry. I’m a lot older than you and my Mama has been gone 17 years. I miss her on Mother’s Day especially.
I feel the same way about my mother Happy Mother's Day to you. I love the ideal about the microwave .I didn't know . Tammy keep it coming, I am learning a lot
Happy Mother's Day , to you too Miss Tammy !! I love that banana custard . It looks so good !! I love the story you wrote to God and your mama . What a sweet thing to do . You're such a good person . Praise the Lord we have people like you in our lives . God bless you and Chris and your family . Thank you for sharing another delicious recipe with us !! 😘❤
Tammy, I made this pie tonight just like you did only I cooked the pudding in the microwave the whole time, it took about 10 minutes total. I learned the microwave method from making your Banana Pudding which is Delicious. My pie turned out great, it’s in the refrigerator and I will put the whipped cream on tomorrow’s just before we eat it. How should I decorate it? Love you and your cooking. Happy Mother’s Day to you💐🌹
Hi TAMMY & CHRIS ...A little anthropological fact & tip for you ...IThe monkeys & the apes have gotten it right for so long ahead of man ( human )...If you cut the bottom of the banana instead of the top , when you peel it there won't be any strings to look for & make sure you remove them coz peeling from the bottom always strips the strings off with the peel ..... Just watch any monkey or ape , they will always remove the peel from the bottom coz they don't like the bitterness of the strings & from the bottom they don't have to & don't have to search for & remove them ........ Just one more thing to make it easier on the COLLARD VALLEY COOK ..... I LOVE YOUR SHOW & ALL YOU DO .....BTW Bananas are my favorite fruit & Banana Pudding & Banana Pie are my favorite desserts , THANK YOU . ❤❤❤🤗🤗🤗

We moved to St. Marys Ga
Now this looks like the Banana PIE 🥧 I want to cook..only with the pudding/bananas. You sprinkled something on top the bananas.
You’re so cute when you referred to the way you talk~~~REAL SOUTHERN GAL😊
This is my 4th video in a row..it’s now December 2021~~Christmas 🎄is coming.
I just heard you refer to the LORD 👏🏻 Praise His Name, as HE is number #1 in my life.
He’s not a religion, however He is a Relationship, as I figure you know this.
Someday soon….we will see our loved ones, as ⚡️💥⚡️JESUS IS TRULY COMING BACK💥⚡️💥
Is that NICHOLS on your apron? That’s my maiden name! I love this pie! ❤️

I’d love to see how you make a double lemon cream pie. That’s my mother in laws and husbands favorite pie and at Marie Calendars it cost more then $20 so I’d really love to learn how to make it at home with a homemade pie crust. Thank you so much for all the videos.
Noted!
i made oneit was good Banana pie
Glad you made it!
Tammy the day you showed how to remove the seeds from the bananas was great. Have made this twice now since then. Pie will last 3 days does not turn dark and bananas don’t get mushy using that method. Thank you!
Sounds great!

Happy Mother's day hope you have a great day my friend
I’ve been making cream pies in the microwave for several years. My dear sweet aunt who was in her 80s always used the microwave. Your letter to your Mama made me cry. I’m a lot older than you and my Mama has been gone 17 years. I miss her on Mother’s Day especially.
I feel the same way about my mother Happy Mother's Day to you. I love the ideal about the microwave .I didn't know . Tammy keep it coming, I am learning a lot
I miss my mother ,so I know how U feel!
Happy Mother’s Day to you💐🌹
You could save some of the graham cracker crumbs and sprinkle them on the top!
Thats a good lookin pie....
This has to happen love banana 🍌 pudding
I was born and raised in Indianapolis Indiana but my parents or from Kentucky and Ohio but every holiday my mother would have Hoosier pie
Happy Mother’s Day and God bless you!🌷
I always mix flour and sugar together before wet ingredients so there is no lumping
❤❤❤🤗🤗🤗
