Very useful information about installing the rivets. Many thanks. I'll link this video from the description of mine when I get around to doing a SAK video.
Glad to hear it's useful. Yes, I look forward to seeing your video when it's ready. Please keep me posted. Do share you experience as we can all learn from each other. Thanks.
The hallmark of good instructions is providing both a "correct" and "incorrect" results from an action. With peening, you showed how the tools SHOULD opperate if correctly peened, and the results of both failure conditions: over, and under, peening. 👍
In your experience what causes the unwanted lateral movement of the long blade. I had that happen once… is it too loose a peen at the pivot of the blade?
Yes, if peening is insufficient, there will be lateral movement. If peening is too tight, there will be no 'snap' sound and closing will be 'sluggish'. If you over peen, you can move the blade laterally with some force to 'open' the peen.
The rods and rivets can be found in Ali express. They come in ‘ready form’ or just plain rods. You need 2.2mm and 2.5mm. I might show a video how to make the rivets in a future video but won’t be anytime soon.
@@lemech that would be awesome! Thanks for the information! I’m nervous about doing my first mod on my SAK but with this video it will definitely help!
I can't express the joy of completing the first custom SAK! It might be easier to start with a 2 layer and if you are going from 4 to 2 layers, you can use back the original pins and collars. Also, you can buy cheap used 4 or more layers knifes from ebay to begin with. Hi, good observations. Several of my builds have different liners as they fit better. This was sometimes changed before or after the build and I have to tear them apart again.

👍
Thank you. This is excellent feedback!
Thanks, this was helpful for my first mod. One really learns to respect how fine the tolerances are.
Glad it helps. Yes it’s amazing how the pieces fit together with minimal clearances!
Great videos, very inspirational! Thank you.
Thank you. It’s very satisfying to make your own custom knives :)
Great job.
Thanks!

Where can I find the rods and rivets???? Could you replace them with hex screws
