Yes they are very comfy for daily use 🤓 And compared to my A-Class they are more comfortable from a softness point of view compared to my car. (Review video coming soon on my car!) I’ll explain a little here, my car seats are comfortable but very firm when compared with the competition. You have to get your seat in exactly the right position and then it’s comfortable for long journeys.
I have one in Australia. It’s amazing how you get used to the acceleration, then get back into a “fast” petrol car and it feels like a tractor. EV’s are so much better in every way. Quiet, smooth, responsive, economical.
Yes after owning 3 Audi's and 4 BMW I leased new 2024 Tesla 3 performance and I can say bet cars I own with all technology PS I was against Tesla but now love it
my kid also loves the accelleration, we have this game where we try to not get the head hitting the headrest. So if its like a red light, we floor throttle up to legal speed :P
I have a 5 yo long range 3 and it's the best car I've ever had. Tech, performance, Tesla support.....all amazing. Absolutely runs rings around my wife's E Tron and the charging network is brilliant
I've had one in the U.S. for about 3 weeks now. Good lord, it's so much fun. It's not just about the 0-60 in Insane mode, it's just so fun in even every day situations. You feel so confident driving it because it handles and drives so well.
@@npoleary I went mineral white with black interior. I love the contrast of the pearl while with the black wheels, black or carbon fiber aero accents that come with the performance model, etc on the exterior and then the black interior.
Apologies if I missed it but you can just press the button on the steering wheel to “voice activate” lots of settings so everything on the touch screen is not much of a problem
I drove a Tesla and had my wife get into one after she told me she didn't ever want one. She was blown away. A gateway drug if you will. We found a 2016 Model X with 90k miles for $25K OTD. Our first electric vehicle and she absolutely loves it. She still hates Elon. 😂
Lol I'm also not fond of Henry Ford's opinion of a certain group of people, and let's not look into how VW was founded, but those aspects certainly don't influence my decision on buying a car :)
Oh snap! That’s the charger I have too! 👀 So quick question (if you don’t mind) you did have a Mercedes, but why not a Mercedes EV? Was it Superchargers with Tesla? You fancied something different? Price? Or something else? I ask because I have contemplated doing a tips and tricks series on Tesla similar to what I have done with Mercedes cars 🤓 (You might already know all the tips though! 😅)
@@npoleary Well as i say i Loved the CLA & especially the Electric part off it so wanted to go full Electric, It was the superchargers partly but Mainly i got mine on the 30th September the last day before they changed the prices & got a Great deal so couldn’t turn it down. I got a Blue with white seats MY Long range AWD for £424 over 36 months on a lease & just over £5,000 deposit, today the same spec with 9 months up Front which equals around the same deposit that i paid is £525 a month so am glad i got it when i did. With Mercedes yep the quality inside is definitely better but so much more expensive. And yeah i think you should do a tips & tricks
Been a performance car nutbag my entire life (I'm 51 next week) and this is BY FAR the best car I've ever owned, modified every single one of my cars to be more powerful, handle better, stop quicker etc etc and this thing blows everything I've ever done into the weeds and it's bog standard!!! I have zero intention of ever feeling the need to do anything (well maybe the brakes on the Nurgurging, they are shockingly bad on a circuit, haha). Autopilot on the Motorway on long trips is also an absolute GAME CHANGER. I wish more people would demonstrate the benefits of that when they test drive these things too
Great Review. I just checked our inventory, we have one in Seattle for 56,000 USD in the Performance. Well in white, that is the color I love.. Not Bad.
OMG I now have FSD on my 27k dollar 2022 Model 3 long range. ITS FREAKING AMAZING the car drives it self. NO hands on wheel no braking no putting blinker on to make turns the car does everything. HOW can Tesla stock NOT go up when people realize that USED Tesla cars that are cheap CAN drive them self with a 100 dollar a month subscription?
I think it varies from state to state (in the USA) and of course country to country. Here in the UK there are no self driving cars (yet) But I’ve seen countless clips of people summoning their Tesla in what I think is the USA. So cool! 👌🏼
@@npoleary Currently in the US the car only is Full Self Driving--supervised (but in all locations). It means you have to keep your eyes on the road as the internal camera monitors your eyes and where you are looking. If you get distracted it will warn and eventually force the driver to take over if not corrected.
Regarding the dog - We put our labrador on the back seat or our model 3 with a seat cover and a seat belt harness. Works great, but obviously you need to be a 3 person family. And with dog mode on the HVAC we can leave her in the car for an hour in complete confidence if we need to
Yeah I have thought of that, the only issue is Our puppy Vizsla isn’t great in the car 😅 🤢 I do hope he’ll grow out of it! For now he stays in the boot! 😅 If I had one though I would make it work! 😊
@@npoleary OK. We build a little nest for ours with a dog bed, towels etc to make the seat more flat. You can also put down the centre arm-rest to give a sense of enclosure for the dog. Ours is very happy even for long journeys.
I don’t think you mentioned this but you can do the gear selection just above the mirror by pressing there. You may need this in order to select neutral for a car wash.
No I didn’t but I had spotted them appear once or twice. Wasn’t sure when they did actually appear and under what circumstances but yes they are there! 🤓
I test drove it and it was brutal.. my 16yo kid and myself got sick 😂. Mind blowing brutal acceleration. But I prefer the dual motor as a daily driver.. still plenty of power and more comfortable…
Good Vid and some important points raised. The supercharger network is the most significant differentiator between Tesla and other EVs it's soooo much better than other public charging options, I highly recommend that your first EV be a Tesla for that reason as I've seen so many EV drivers with other brands getting frustrated with the non Tesla charging networks and then writing off EVs. If you're only ever going to charge at home then it's not an issue but if you expect to have to need to charge on the go Tesla is the one to go for. The indicators and gear selectors get so much stick from reviewers and I don't understand why. How often do you select D / R on a journey once, twice? why do you need an appendage stuck out of the dash that is so rarely used? The selector on the screen is fine and becomes second nature after a week (you can also select the gears on the overhead near the mirror but I've never used that in the 6 months I've had my M3SR) Indicators on the steering wheel felt odd for the first week but after that I never noticed it again. I hate driving other cars now as I'm constantly changing radio channels or tracks on the playlist when I come to a junction because I'm automatically pressing where the indicator buttons on the M3 are. Honestly they work so well, even on roundabouts as due to the quick steering rack roundabouts never use more than a quarter of a turn. Having to remove your hand from the wheel to press a stalk up or down seems like you have less control of the vehicle now and just seems faffy. This M3SR is my first EV and this upgraded model provides a very quiet and comfortable car with a reasonable amount of power for a price that almost pays for itself in the amount I save in fuel costs. Just waiting for the upgraded Model Y next year as I might get rid of the wife's Diesel SUV for one (I used to like her car till I got this Tesla, it's feels extremely agricultural now in comparison!)
Couldn’t agree more and thank you so much for sharing your experience! When I first jumped in a Tesla Model 3 without indicator stalks it is odd. But you do get used to it! I did the same as you after a week! 😅 Jumping into my “normal” ICE car and trying to use the indicator buttons and doing things on the radio 😂 When it comes to EV’s for a first EV I would have no problem recommending Tesla for their first EV. Yes it has a minimalistic design on the inside but the “first EV experience” with superchargers is brilliant. But as you said, if you’re charging at home all the time then you might not to use the supercharger network.
Well if you launch everywhere, probably not very long but by that point you’ll probably be using it on a track and if you’re doing that, you’ll know all about how long they’ll last on laps 🤓 That would be a good test! Maybe if I get access to one again I’ll see if I can measure it!
Had mine for a week, driver seat rattles and creak (I'm 190lbs at 6,2") and there is moisture to the point there is water droplets in the rear light. My 2019 performance was flawless In this regards. On the flilside, road noise and wind noise is extremely dampend in the new performance and the red color is gorgeous
Oh no water droplets shouldn’t be there. I’m sure they could take a look though! Condensation is fine but not water droplets 💦 Yeah I do like that red!
The software updates are superb, I drive a 2019 MP3 and they haven’t forgot me . I used to hate nipping out on dark cold nights , but now it’s a pleasure with the car ready & warm for me ..
Thank you for the great review. I own both a Model 3 LR and a Model 3 Performance from December 2021. I recently test drove the Highland LR, but I think the 2021 LR with 18-inch wheels and the optional Performance Boost is the best fit for me. I can drive it with very low energy consumption, but it’s fast enough when I need it to be. I can also comfortably maintain 235 kph on the Autobahn for quite some time, though with higher consumption, of course. Maybe if I have extra money one day, I’d consider buying the Highland Performance, but for now, I don’t feel the need. Keep up the great work, and best regards from Germany! 😀✌
I owned a M3P 2023 but returned it due to several interior rattles which couldn't be fixed. I do like the appeal of the Highland P - but am wary of being in the same situation again. Have you had any issues with the interior?
Oh no :( It is rare for a car to have issues like that these days but I have had that before on another car I’ve owned years and years ago. Sometimes it can just be a one off. But no it was silent on the inside and the new ones are even quieter than the previous one.
If a rain downpour starts, do you need to take your eyes off the road to increase or adjust the windshield wiper speed? With a leaver you don't have to take your eyes off the road.
They’re rain sensor or you can press the button on the steering wheel which after many uses becomes muscle memory. However…to completely answer your question, yes you would have to take your eyes off the road to adjust the speed of the wipers. Press the button once then adjust the speed on the screen that pops up.
On the pre-facelift Model 3, you didn't have full wiper controls on the stalk either - just a push button. Once to wipe, hold to spray. However, after pressing the wiper button once then, for a few seconds, you can control the wiper speed with one of the scroll buttons on the wheel. So you don't have to take your eyes off the road, but you need to know the tricks of Tesla's interface. (Because they love to do things *their* way and reinvent everything, for better and worse.)
I am not certain but I think the Performance M3 has a bigger than 75kwh usable. But I could be incorrect. ev database says 82kwh with 80kwh usable. Making the range in your example 296 miles.
Great review Nick. I’d guessed from your teaser a while back that this was coming. I have the M3 LR and I agree with your pros & cons. I don’t miss having stalks and it took me about 5 minutes to adapt but you have to ask what’s the benefit in not having them….cost cutting I suspect. I came from a Nissan X-Trail to mine and 4 months in, I’m still blown away by the performance. Speaking to a guy who swapped his LR for the performance, he was a bit underwhelmed…..it didn’t feel much quicker to him in everyday driving.
Thank you for watching and thanks for sharing your experience! That’s awesome 🙌 Yeah for me Long Range is the way to go, I’ve launched the Model 3 Performance in slower modes and that’s plenty fast 😅
Not cost cutting. Tesla used to record ~ 40 error accelerator presses every day. Automating the gears with AI sensing of direction mitigates this. As all Teslas are capable of full autonomy, every function can be replaced with AI including indicating.
Maybe but they need to sort the current basic system out first. The adaptive cruise is glitchy and the lane keep assist is hopeless. My wife’s 20k Nissan Juke does both faultlessly.
@@ianbrookes6978 Tesla ADAS has the highest rating in ENCAP and 42HOW tests in China. Decades ahead of any other system for universal FSD. Goes to Europe and China Q1 2025. Also excellent at autoparking, and summon... Nissan Juke ADAS rated 73% vs Model Y 98% ENCAP.
Thank you! 🙏 I’ve emailed them last week, just waiting for a reply back to try and get my hands on a car. I have a list of tips and tricks so just need to find a date to film it and edit it 👌🏼
Very nearly bought one. From a standstill it actually hurt my head a bit to be honest. I’m more interested in how quick a car is at practical speeds for overtakes and also at already high speed. Sticker on back is a bit tacky but I think it might grow on me. They do look much better than standard car. Interesting cars
@ I went model Y as my wife insisted we needed to space (which, to be fair we do) even with another large car we have two kids and 3 dogs so a saloon just doesn’t serve much purpose
Nick is just too good. My only suggestion is that you should do a complete auto channel. I mean wholeheartedly, with the absence of the silliness and the Stig, you are just as good and knowledgeable as the OG Top Gear. Cheers, keep it going.
Thank you! 🙏 Awh comments like this make my day! 😎 This is an interesting topic, so I have over the last few years only covered Mercedes. Last year, I made the switch to start covering other brands related to Mercedes but looking to the future, do I cover anything car related? I’m curious to hear what people think 🤔 I’ll be putting a question out to people soon on UA-cam! I appreciate that I may have some strong Mercedes fans but there are several reasons why I decided to start covering other topics and car manufacturers. Maybe I’ll make a separate video on it 👌🏼 Glad you enjoyed this one 👊🏼
@@npoleary Best to cover up other car manufacturers. There are already viewers that are also interested in Porsche's, Audi, VW, Ford, Toyota and many more. Would really draw in some audience 💪🏽. I think it's best to ask people what they would prefer.
@@npoleary You’re welcome! 🙏 It’s awesome to hear how much thought you’ve put into expanding your content-broadening your scope beyond Mercedes seems like a natural evolution, especially for someone so knowledgeable in the field! I think branching out to cover other car brands while staying true to your roots will definitely bring in a wider audience. Plus, exploring new topics could offer fresh insights even for your hardcore Mercedes fans. A dedicated video explaining your reasons sounds like a great idea-it shows transparency and could bring more excitement for what’s ahead. Keep it up, can’t wait to see what’s next! 👊🏼
@apolloxgod Awh thank you! Love this! There were many reasons for me branching out and covering more brands so yeah a video I think is a great idea 💡 I’ll have a think and put some polls & votes out over the next month or so 👊🏼🤓 Thank you
Good review, Nick. I have a Tesla Model 3 Performance. It's awesome. Just one comment about your review, you didn't mention 'Voice Commands' which are a major feature of the car. These are used to avoid having to touch the screen while driving, hence you can keep your eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel. I recognised the New Forest scenery. That's where I live.
Ah awesome thank you! 🙏 Glad you enjoyed the video! Sadly I omitted it from the video to save time on video length, just finding the right balance of people new to EV’s grasping the EV way of things vs an ICE car for example. In future I’m leaving it in! Plus I’m always adapting the videos slightly, I often ramble on a lot more but I edit it down to optimise the length of the video 🤓 Thanks for the feedback 👊🏼
Hey Nick, Ive got an A class the same as you but looking for a change from a hatchback. Ive had a great experience in this car and you played a part in me getting that, im hoping you can play a part in my next question also! Under 40k, what's the best car youve driven that youd recommend me look at?
Haha sorry I’ve been behind with the comments and replies, there’s been about 300+ on my latest video released Friday! Been up since 4am replying 😅 So cars…well if you’re wanting to stick with hatchbacks Mercedes of course still do have the same model with a couple of changes on the inside now. BMW have just released their 1 Series which I’m hoping to cover soon! Sadly not covered Audi yet but I hope to in the future. Volkswagen of course have their Golf which has recently changed which is very good, have several videos of that on my channel. Staying under £40k though is tricky, a lot of the models since reviewed are over this. If you’re thinking electric Tesla Model 3 or Volvo EX 30. They are solid all electric cars and both under £40k.
Great video, thank you. I am looking to upgrade my '21 M3P to a '24 M3P. Waiting for Tesla to throw in some more year-end incentives here in the US though lol
Great review and really useful. Hand's up, I had my head in my hands when you were starting to talk about 0-60 times while sat in the New Forest and thought, "surely he's not going to do it now?" 🤣 and then you pulled out on to the A31 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Oh god no, there’s too many ponies and horses everywhere. Plus I’m pretty sure it’s 40mph everywhere (or 30mph in villages)
Amazing video Nick. I started following you for all the MB tips & tricks, and seeing how you have branched off into other brands makes me trust you even more with all the context of having reviewed several premium cars from MB. I own a M3 Std Range and a MB CLA. And wow, they feel so different and love both in different ways. The stalk/gear thing becomes a non-issue, even in small roundabouts, which I never thought would be the case. The mind is so adaptable. In terms of comfort, it sounds crazy but my family of 4 fits better in the M3 than the CLA. The kids have loads of space in the back and love the rear screen. They connect their Bluetooth headset and watch movies or play video games on long drives whilst wife and I can listen to music on the sound system 👌 My main CON is the boot opening. While the M3 has loads of space, the opening limits the size of objects and the 60/40 rear seats mean that we cannot do the IKEA hauls that we can on the CLA. Finally, charging is such a breeze with the supercharger network. It is even better in mainland Europe. We've done two 2000+ mile roadtrips to Germany and charging was never an issue and we managed to do good stints at 200kph on the de-restricted autobahn 😎
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for following for such a long time! Yes I know and fully appreciate that it all started with just Mercedes content and slowly venturing off to cover other brands, I don’t want anyone thinking I’ve ditched Mercedes! There are reasons why I started to do that and I’ll happily share in a video somewhen before the end of the year 🙏 That’s great you have both! Yes I know, if the boot opened differently like a hatch then it would work for me (dog at home 🐕) Yeah I’ve heard the charging network is even better in Europe! 🤓 Many thanks for sharing your experience! 👊🏼
Unfortunately we get the slightly slower one in Europe as the battery is different. I have a 2024 Performance awesome car its not the 0 - 60 that I notice but the burst of acceleration when rolling easy to drive normally very quiet and comfortable
Thank you! 🙏 Glad you enjoyed the video! Do you mind me asking, how have you found Tesla M3 over the years? Anything you love? Anything you wish was different?
Haven’t tried the Model Y Performance but I’m sure it’s almost as quick as this! 🤓 The question is, would you ever go back to petrol or diesel? Or are you EV for life 🤓
@@npoleary Black with Satin ppf. Im in scotland and live in the center of Edinburgh. The standard suspension setting is surprisingly good on cobbles and the terrible roads we have. Range wise im averaging 250 miles on a full charge, but this is hurt by the hills in and around town with lots of stop starting. (Hills are the biggest killers of range. The down hill doesnt make up for the uphil part due to regen losses) On motorways ive been able to get 270 miles easily. I also too the big aero blades out, so i suspect i could get better than this if i had those in. When you get it on a good country road it really is spectacular!
That sounds nice! 👌🏼 Thanks for sharing your experience! 🤓 Yes I’ve seen some of those hills in Scotland when I reviewed the Marco Polo campervan that Mercedes have. Stunning scenery though!
Rather than paying £60k for a new one, there are lots of used Teslas available. They start from less than £20k and have stalks for the gear selector and wipers.
Very true! Good value for money! This would be the pre-facelift version though so it wouldn’t have the extra refinements that the new one has. However, a very good buy if they’re that cheap! (I say cheap, it’s still £20k but when compared with new)
Nick, I believe you did a review of the AMG EQE 53, I cant remember if it was the version with the performance pack (680bhp) but if it was then that would have been the quickest car you've reviewed to date. Ignore Mercedes claim of 3.2 secs 0-60, it's been timed at 2.8 seconds by US car journalists so that makes it the quickest car you've tested to date - I believe😀
The fascination with 0-60. Just out of curiosity, have you (or anyone here) ever been to a top fuel drag strip? Funny cars take 3.6 - 3.8 seconds, but that's to 300mph. I know 0-60 times are for street legal cars that can carry passengers and groceries and don't have to be rebuilt every 5 miles, but it is curious how we get hooked on power (I'm guilty). For grins, YT search for supercar owners that crash because they cannot handle the torque. I have a car I admit I do not know how to handle at it's full potential. Even very experienced drivers can get a street car sideways unintentionally.
@cyprio182 Ah yes I remember, it was more of a first impressions showcase video of AMG and yeah I had to drive that one! That was the fastest to date (on paper). But yeah interesting you mentioned that it’s faster than quoted. Well as you saw in this video I have some new timing gear so maybe I ought to check it out again? Put Mercedes claims to the test! 😊
@davesmith5656 yes you’re absolutely right there is a lot of hype around 0-62mph times. I personally like them as it’s a measurement of how quick it would be daily use / overtaking. My sweet spot on a car is under 8 seconds (sadly my current car is over that). Under 8 seconds for me, there’s plenty of power to overtake and get up to the speed limit but over that can start to feel sluggish and there’s more planning involved in an overtake etc.
@@npoleary --- Nick, I hear you, and I like powerful cars, but I think most of it is knowing how to drive, like a "big rig" or "16 wheeler". People give them a lot of leeway for various reasons (like maybe size?) but very few people will crash into a car that's simply not "fast". (Just get a "student driver" decal and people will give you a lot of room 🤣)
@@npoleary I gave up on 0-60 times in the 1990's after i realised what i had to do to the car to actually achieve manufacturer claims. Plus, in those days some "cheated" the numbers by extending 2nd gear to 62 mph and thus making the cars less driveable. I've always found 40-60 and 50-70 times a much better guideline to a cars' real performance. Like you, my benchmark is around 8 secs as that translates to a car that is plenty quick for all scenarios
It’s very tricky, a lot of car manufacturers make great EV’s but it’s your individual experience which can sway you one way or the other. So for example, Tesla have the supercharger network Mercedes have Mercedes me Charge (I would like to revisit this soon and make a video!) Mercedes have their own multimedia system called MBUX and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto Tesla do not have the latter (but their software is very good so it makes up for it in most areas) Mercedes EQE 53 starts at £105,810 Tesla Model 3 Performance starts at £59,990 Difference = £45,820 From an ownership point of view, running an EV and the simplistic nature of plugging into superchargers without fumbling around with apps and authenticating the charger I would have to give it to the Tesla. I could buy another premium SUV with the remaining £45k. There are loads of other factors involved which if people would like I could make a comparison video on.
@@npoleary Mercedes are doing very badly - tanking ICE sales and poor BEVs. Remember they were the ones telling Tesla is was not possible to make their BEV Semi, even though it was their ex head of trucking Jerome Guillen, who was responsible for the Cascadia, in charge of the Semi. Daimler’s head of trucks, Martin Daum, told reporters that he has doubts about Tesla achieving specs: “If Tesla really delivers on this promise, we’ll obviously buy two trucks - one to take apart and one to test because if that happens, something has passed us by. But for now, the same laws of physics apply in Germany and in California.” They have not yet ordered two Semis...
Daimler Trucks has appointed an (interim) new CEO on Oct1 - Karin Radstrom, as it cuts hours and imposes a job freeze because of subdued demand in Europe and Asia, and guidance "significantly below" that of 2023. Meanwhile Tesla tours the Semis around Europe receiving accolades from DHL: "During the trial, the trial vehicle averaged 1.72 kWh/mile operating at speeds exceeding 50 mph (80 km/h) on average for over half its time on the road. The result exceeded our expectations and even Tesla’s own rating".
Interesting info! Thanks for sharing! Good job I’m reviewing several brands to give people a choice! 🤓 It’s interesting to see where all of this is going though!
Just did a quote for myself £200 more for the year than what I pay currently for a 1.3L petrol Or £16.66 more per month For the car’s performance, that’s not bad! I actually thought it would be higher 😅
@@npoleary I am 54 years old and it is by far the best car I ever own and I plan to keep it as long as possible. No plan to change for a new model since my car perfectly matches my needs. It is the only car of a family of 5 and we have been traveling all over Europe with it, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Belgium, and even Ireland by ferry. Never had any issue to charge, and even never had to wait to charge. My way is to charge when it is easy, ie when I anyway have to be somewhere, and to stop charging when I want to go whatever the charge level.
I got Audi eTron GT. Totally different class. Tesla has its own class but I never liked their style. Plus 0 to 60 is good then it can't keep up even with M3. Audi and M3 keep pulling and pulling and pulling. Again that is what I prefer. May be not a pratical person :)
I bought another car for as much money as this one, but it is so much nicer to drive than any Tesla, according to me. Yes, I’ve tried multiple models. Tesla just doesn’t give me that safe and steady feeling I like to have as a driver.
Yeah for me, it’s an incredible piece of engineering. And for the money, it’s brilliant. It’s supercar fast for a lot less! But if I was buying one, I’d have to go Long Range. That’s plenty fast enough (that’s the power I drove for the whole week on standard mode), then did insane for the first time on camera. It’s so fast 😅
Sadly not driven a Porsche Macan yet, only covered a select few brands on my channel to date but I might in the future! However from the outside they are the complete opposite to this…Tesla remove buttons, Porsche have loads of them! 😅
Thank you! I’d love to! I’ve got a Mercedes EV pencilled in (you’ll have to keep an eye out somewhen before the end of the year 👀) Sadly not the G580 but that is one I’m curious about. I’m not sure the efficiency will be the best given the shape of it! But neither is a G-Wagon anyway 😅
I did record that bit but for the video length I chose to edit it out. But I think going forward I’ll keep voice control in as it is a popular thing these days. Thanks for the feedback 🙏
Sadly not seen the Mercedes All-Terrain version in the UK. Certainly not in their brochures anyway, hopefully they’ll release it sometime in the future
@@npoleary Indeed, "Sir.Lankylot", i might be in the process of acquiring a M3 LR of my own, but i just have some "concern" about the legroom for the passengers in the back on longer trips that it is spacious enough without any discomfort. (my circle of friends consist mostly of 6.0ft/180-190cm-individuals at the highest). 🤔
😅 haha Ah fair enough, I mean I have very long legs so I could move it further forward and still be comfortable but I’m sure it would be alright. Try one out if you can, Tesla are very open to test drives so you can get a feel for it. If you haven’t test driven one make sure you try charging at a supercharger too! It is a must!
The biggest Con on the performance is the cost of tires. It eats tires if you have it in performance/insane mode. That will cost you £800 each time you buy tires
Yeah true! But honestly if you’re maxing out what the car can do you’re most likely going to be on track. And that would be expected in that situation. You’ll come across traffic or speed limits before you can open it up in day to day use. But good point! Depends how heavy your right foot is 😉
In reality you will struggle to actually use that power, and you will stop trying. You and your passengers will probably get nauseous very fast if you do, and your license will evaporate. I guess you could do the traffic lights grand prix at every junction, but unless you drive at low traffic times of day you'll struggle with that too. So tyre wear will be just limited by reality. I have the LR (older model) and i only ever use full power to show off the performance of the car to passengers. The rest of the time i run in reduced power mode (chill mode), which is still 0-60 in 7s but is much smoother. And my tyres are on course to do 20k miles.
Not covered Kia EV’s to date yet but I might in the future! I’ve heard they make some incredible cars and I’ve seen how popular they are at motor shows
Who, really, needs to do 60 MPH in under 3 seconds, what great benefit do you derive from it? One of the great great benefits is for the tyre manufacturers.
Yeah I’m fairly confident not everyone is going to be launching this every second of their life, but I’ll say this. It certainly gives you a lot of confidence to overtake someone on a dual carriageway or motorway even just using 50% to 70% of the power 🚗 💨 Yeah right! I have to agree with the tyre aspect 😂
Merdeces"; "You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Tesla ( and other brands ) , not join them! " lol Great review Nick.Wish to see more Volvo models and Toyota one day.All The Best !
Haha not joining them 😅 just reviewing more makes and models 👊🏼 Although the performance is crazy on this one for the price! Glad you enjoyed the video! Might cover some more brands in the future for sure! And yes would like to get some more Volvo’s reviewed as well!
The only downside of the NEW Tesla Model 3 Performance is the LG battery pack. It's too weak and quicker to overheat (on track) compared to the Panasonic battery pack they use in the US. The old Tesla Model 3 Performance was 3.1s 0-60, and as you can see, the new one is doing the same time in the UK/Europe due to the change to the LG battery pack. If they would only let us have the Panasonic batteries, this would be an even more insane car!
@@npoleary I don't know why Tesla chose LG as their supplier of batteries for the Shanghai and I think also for the Berlin manufacturing plants, but it might be due to diversification of supplier chains and possibly due to cost reasons as these battery packs are of lower performance compared to the Panasonic ones. Tesla originally had an agreement with Panasonic to manufacture all of their batteries, but that was before they opened manufacturing outside of the US. The old Model 3 Performance was still made in the US plant only, thus all customers in the EU/UK were still treated to the Panasonic battery pack. As we can see now in other videos on UA-cam, the old M3P Panasonic pack is as quick, if not quicker than the new M3P with LG pack. But the new M3P US version with Panasonic batteries is much quicker (about 0.2-0.3s). Now all of the new EU/UK/AU Model 3s and Model Ys are made in Shanghai and soon in Berlin, so we'll be getting LG battery packs for the foreseeable future. The original Tesla/Panasonic battery plants are only in the US, thus only the US made cars will keep getting them. On a side note, US made electric cars need to have a large portion of the battery pack made in the US to allow customers to get government tax credits/subsidies for purchasing US made electric cars. It would be great to have the same law in the UK and EU, to bring some manufacturing back home from China.
Wow so detailed! I figured you might know a little more than me on that as you mentioned about different battery packs! Interesting though and thanks for sharing! 🤓🙏
Everything you can on carplay or android auto you can do it on Tesla. So there is no need for carplay, Tesla provide much more than carplay or android auto.
The choice to use it wouldn’t really be a problem though would it, you don’t order everything on a menu in a restaurant but at least you get the choice.
@@matthewr1990 But car play can't even predict what percentage your car will arrive and precondition the battery when you put a place in the navigation, no route planning.
@mhsohel47 exactly but I do appreciate some people will want it regardless. I made a video about why Tesla don’t have it and my thoughts of it: ua-cam.com/video/28BBygYAwqk/v-deo.htmlsi=Md4OQMFNIxpmMWdk As you said Pre-conditioning the battery and route planning are things CarPlay cannot do today. So Tesla for the win 🥇
Genuine questions - not hating...want to understand. Can you use Waze? I use this all the time in my EV as it shows police/accidents/hazards etc. Can you compose/read whatsapp messages when driving using the voice control? Do you need a Tesla wifi subscription to use Apple Music? Do you lose audio quality using it via Bluetooth vs plugged in?
@@edwardharris1022 @@edwardharris1022 Waze like feature is available on Tesla map. Premium connectivity is needed for apple music $100/year but it also includes LTE unlimited internet which you have to for car play anyways. Premium connectivity is worth the internet alone $10/month despite additional features is bonus. Live Traffic Visualization, Sentry Mode - View Live Camera, Satellite-View Maps Video Streaming, Caraoke, Music Streaming, Internet Browser. Most of them car play can't do it. Route planning and precondition battery is a must for ev which is also a big miss for carplay.
I’m just quoting what Tesla state on their website 😅 And testing it myself of course 🤓 I had purchased the timing gear specifically for this video so I’ll think I’ll use it again for another review video I’m sure! 👌🏼
Great video as usual, could be nice to see these models/brands on your chanel: Xiaomi SU7, Zeekr, Avatr 11 and 12, NETA S HUNTER. Tesla doesn't matter, it's now as boring to see as its "creator". Here in Denmark, it's just a "car that everyone has", a super boring car.
no signal stalk is not about getting used to, it's down right dangerous. If you buy the new Model 3, you'll probably want to find a third-party solution. In America, you might be okay, but not in the UK with roundabouts.
Using it throughly over several weeks across Tesla’s multimedia system, it has some clever UI tricks where you indicate using the button and it will cancel the indicator automatically for exiting roundabouts and even lane changes. It’s very clever! So example, you only need to press it once, perform your manoeuvre and it’ll cancel. It goes without saying, this works 90% of time as it’s classed as “Beta” in their software. Still pretty clever though!
@@npoleary I see. The problem is not about cancelling, it's about signaling left when you're about to exit. Say, I'm exiting the third exit, so I signal right and and enter the right lane, when I'm about to exit, the steering wheel will be upside down, and I need to signal left to exit. This is the problem.
Tesla’s steering compared to other car manufacturers is quite sensitive as you spin the wheel so you don’t have to spin it as far, but yeah I completely get that. I can’t say I’ve had an issue and I definitely use my indicators a lot! Gotta let everyone know in advance of where I’m going! 😅
Wouldn’t call it poverty at all, ventilated seats, heated seats, adaptive cruise, insane performance. What would you like to see on it, or just more buttons? 👀
@@npoleary I guess poverty-spec wasn't exactly what I was going for. There just seems to be a lot of common controls that are just much easier to use if they were physical. Although, they charge quite a premium but there is physically nothing there is probably what I really meant.
Oh I see 🤓 That makes sense, I mean this one’s their fastest one, normal Model 3’s start from £39,990 so a lot less. I guess it’s just the design they go for 🤓
That's quite strange because I test drove a performance last week and it was extremely quiet and that's coming from an Audi A8. I wonder did you have different Tyres to mine??
You forgot to mention the biggest con - the price. How many people can afford a new Tesla? I would guess that the majority of sales are going to be company cars rather than private ownership.
Well this is the performance model so it’s expensive. They have other variants and models which are more affordable. I have a real world example, Tesla this year have had many offers, I get their emails all the time….and both the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 (standard versions) are both cheaper per month than my daily car which is a Mercedes A180 (petrol) I didn’t think that EV’s would “start” to enter that price point just yet.
It’s just because Tesla quote their 0-62 with roll out subtracted. In terms of drag racing it measures when the car goes over a line (more info below) en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollout_(drag_racing) Still stupidly fast though 😅😅
Tesla’s are renowned for being minimalistic. I like to make the comparison of someone who works at a desk like in an office. Some may like the “organised mess” on their desk, some like certain styles and designs, whereas some may like the minimalistic look with barely anything out. Tesla of course the latter 🤓 Not everyone likes that and I get that, it is quite different with no stalks for example.
Thoughts or questions? Let me know below! 💭
Are the seats comfortably enough for daily use you think?
Hey nick, if you have to compare the seats from the Tesla with your Mercedes a class, how about that?😊
Yes they are very comfy for daily use 🤓
And compared to my A-Class they are more comfortable from a softness point of view compared to my car. (Review video coming soon on my car!)
I’ll explain a little here, my car seats are comfortable but very firm when compared with the competition. You have to get your seat in exactly the right position and then it’s comfortable for long journeys.
Is there an option in the configurator to change the look of the seats?
You can change the colour but if you opt for the performance model, you’ll get the performance seats
I have one in Australia. It’s amazing how you get used to the acceleration, then get back into a “fast” petrol car and it feels like a tractor. EV’s are so much better in every way. Quiet, smooth, responsive, economical.
Couldn't agree more!
Yeah I know I jumped back in my petrol car and was like this is waaaay slow 😅
Yes after owning 3 Audi's and 4 BMW I leased new 2024 Tesla 3 performance and I can say bet cars I own with all technology PS I was against Tesla but now love it
my kid also loves the accelleration, we have this game where we try to not get the head hitting the headrest.
So if its like a red light, we floor throttle up to legal speed :P
I have a 5 yo long range 3 and it's the best car I've ever had. Tech, performance, Tesla support.....all amazing. Absolutely runs rings around my wife's E Tron and the charging network is brilliant
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing! 🤓👊🏼
I've had one in the U.S. for about 3 weeks now. Good lord, it's so much fun. It's not just about the 0-60 in Insane mode, it's just so fun in even every day situations. You feel so confident driving it because it handles and drives so well.
Very nice! What colour did you go for?
@@npoleary I went mineral white with black interior. I love the contrast of the pearl while with the black wheels, black or carbon fiber aero accents that come with the performance model, etc on the exterior and then the black interior.
Ran my US spec M3P on the draggy today. 90-95% SOC, insane mode.
0-60: 2.97
100-200: 7.61
1/8 mile: 7.04 @101
1/4 mile: 10.94 @124
Nice! 👌🏼
They are so fast those performance versions!
Apologies if I missed it but you can just press the button on the steering wheel to “voice activate” lots of settings so everything on the touch screen is not much of a problem
Yes very true, just for the video length I chose to keep it out but in future reviews I’m going to keep it in 🤓
I completely agree, about the only thing i've found which doesnt work via voice is the fo lights, at least it didn't last time I tried it.
I drove a Tesla and had my wife get into one after she told me she didn't ever want one. She was blown away. A gateway drug if you will.
We found a 2016 Model X with 90k miles for $25K OTD. Our first electric vehicle and she absolutely loves it. She still hates Elon. 😂
Haha awesome! Sounds like a good price 🤓
Please don't hate Elon just his opinions.
Lol I'm also not fond of Henry Ford's opinion of a certain group of people, and let's not look into how VW was founded, but those aspects certainly don't influence my decision on buying a car :)
@jjamespacbell Hard to separate the two. Like saying you don't like PB jelly sandwiches with bread. Just separate the bread.
@@rxonmymind8362 I get it. It's just illogical. I also can't separate VW with dieselgate for example.
Just picked up my Tesla Model Y LR AWD Blue with white interior absolutely Love it

Got your charger sorted?
@@npoleary yes I got the Ohme Pro with Octopus. I had a Mercedes CLA250e which was a Lovely car but just too small so thought I’d go full electric
Oh snap! That’s the charger I have too! 👀
So quick question (if you don’t mind) you did have a Mercedes, but why not a Mercedes EV?
Was it Superchargers with Tesla? You fancied something different? Price? Or something else?
I ask because I have contemplated doing a tips and tricks series on Tesla similar to what I have done with Mercedes cars 🤓
(You might already know all the tips though! 😅)
@@npoleary Well as i say i Loved the CLA & especially the Electric part off it so wanted to go full Electric, It was the superchargers partly but
Mainly i got mine on the 30th September the last day before they changed the prices & got a Great deal so couldn’t turn it down.
I got a Blue with white seats MY Long range AWD for £424 over 36 months on a lease & just over £5,000 deposit, today the same spec with 9 months up
Front which equals around the same deposit that i paid is £525 a month so am glad i got it when i did.
With Mercedes yep the quality inside is definitely better but so much more expensive.
And yeah i think you should do a tips & tricks
Thanks for sharing! You got it! I’ll add it to the list of possible future videos! 🤓
I wish more people would demonstrate the benefits of that when they test drive these things too
Haha amazing! Yeah I’m not sure what mods people could actually do to this. It’s so fast 😅
Glad you’re enjoying it!
What cars did you have?
@@nozopoke1782 Think of any 80's- 90's cult classic now and I had it and sold them all for nothing like they are worth today.... If only I knew....
Great Review. I just checked our inventory, we have one in Seattle for 56,000 USD in the Performance. Well in white, that is the color I love.. Not Bad.
Thank you! Ah nice! 😊 well I wouldn't say not o any colour, but grey would be preferred choice!
Here in the UK there are no self driving cars (yet)
But I’ve seen countless clips of people summoning their Tesla in what I think is the USA. So cool!
And with dog mode on the HVAC we can leave her in the car for an hour in complete confidence if we need to
Yeah I have thought of that, the only issue is
Our puppy Vizsla isn’t great in the car 😅
🤢
I do hope he’ll grow out of it! For now he stays in the boot! 😅
If I had one though I would make it work! 😊
Forgot to say, thank you for watching! 🤓
@@npoleary OK. We build a little nest for ours with a dog bed, towels etc to make the seat more flat. You can also put down the centre arm-rest to give a sense of enclosure for the dog. Ours is very happy even for long journeys.
That’s a good idea! 👍🏼
I know it’s so fast 😅
The selector on the screen is fine and becomes second nature after a week (you can also select the gears on the overhead near the mirror but I've never used that in the 6 months I've had my M3SR)
Indicators on the steering wheel felt odd for the first week but after that I never noticed it again.
😅 Jumping into my “normal” ICE car and trying to use the indicator buttons and doing things on the radio 😂
When it comes to EV’s for a first EV I would have no problem recommending Tesla for their first EV. Yes it has a minimalistic design on the inside but the “first EV experience” with superchargers is brilliant. But as you said, if you’re charging at home all the time then you might not to use the supercharger network.
How long do your tyres last? How much power, (range), does it take to accelerate from 0 to 60 in 2 . 9 seconds?
Well if you launch everywhere, probably not very long but by that point you’ll probably be using it on a track and if you’re doing that, you’ll know all about how long they’ll last on laps 🤓
That would be a good test!
Condensation is fine but not water droplets 💦
Yeah I do like that red!
I had tesla come out to fix water droplets in my rear light after washing my M3P
The software updates are superb, I drive a 2019 MP3 and they haven’t forgot me .
I used to hate nipping out on dark cold nights , but now it’s a pleasure with the car ready & warm for me ..
I’d love that! 🤓 that would be awesome!
Thank you Nick, it was the one of the best review I have ever seen on Tesla 3.
Awesome thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
More reviews coming soon! 👀
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! And thanks for sharing! 🤓👍🏼
Very nice! 👌🏼
I owned a M3P 2023 but returned it due to several interior rattles which couldn't be fixed.
I do like the appeal of the Highland P - but am wary of being in the same situation again. Have you had any issues with the interior?
Oh no :(
It is rare for a car to have issues like that these days but I have had that before on another car I’ve owned years and years ago.
@@npoleary button access is a good solution.
That’s awesome 🙌
Yeah for me Long Range is the way to go, I’ve launched the Model 3 Performance in slower modes and that’s plenty fast 😅
I test drove the Performance and bought the LR. I really didn't see the point of the P on public roads over the LR.

This is an interesting topic, so I have over the last few years only covered Mercedes. Last year, I made the switch to start covering other brands related to Mercedes but looking to the future, do I cover anything car related? I’m curious to hear what people think 🤔
I’ll be putting a question out to people soon on UA-cam! I appreciate that I may have some strong Mercedes fans but there are several reasons why I decided to start covering other topics and car manufacturers. Maybe I’ll make a separate video on it 👌🏼
Glad you enjoyed this one 👊🏼
@@npoleary Best to cover up other car manufacturers. There are already viewers that are also interested in Porsche's, Audi, VW, Ford, Toyota and many more. Would really draw in some audience 💪🏽. I think it's best to ask people what they would prefer.

Glad you enjoyed the video!
Sadly I omitted it from the video to save time on video length, just finding the right balance of people new to EV’s grasping the EV way of things vs an ICE car for example.
In future I’m leaving it in! Plus I’m always adapting the videos slightly, I often ramble on a lot more but I edit it down to optimise the length of the video 🤓

Hey Nick,
Ive got an A class the same as you but looking for a change from a hatchback. Ive had a great experience in this car and you played a part in me getting that, im hoping you can play a part in my next question also!
Under 40k, what's the best car youve driven that youd recommend me look at?
Ah cool! So, are you thinking electric or petrol / diesel or hybrid? 🤓
@npoleary literally anything mate. I been waiting for your suggestion all weekend. Name me a car 🤣
Haha sorry I’ve been behind with the comments and replies, there’s been about 300+ on my latest video released Friday!
Been up since 4am replying 😅
So cars…well if you’re wanting to stick with hatchbacks Mercedes of course still do have the same model with a couple of changes on the inside now.

They connect their Bluetooth headset and watch movies or play video games on long drives whilst wife and I can listen to music on the sound system 👌
My main CON is the boot opening.
There are reasons why I started to do that and I’ll happily share in a video somewhen before the end of the year 🙏
That’s great you have both!
Yes I know, if the boot opened differently like a hatch then it would work for me (dog at home 🐕)
Yeah I’ve heard the charging network is even better in Europe! 🤓
Many thanks for sharing your experience! 👊🏼

Awesome! 🙌
Great review mate. Id love to get one of these on my channel. Just bonkers quick.
Thank you! 🙏
I know it’s so fast 🔥
I want ragtop. What speed will the cruise control engage at? BMW goes as low at 10mph, very convenient for low speed zones like hospitals and schools.
18 mph I believe 🤓
@@npoleary --- Thanks. That's too fast! 😂
Haha 😅
Tesla’s auto pilot and cruise control activate at 0 mph. Big advantage for stop and go traffic.
@mathursharad007 can it be switched on at lower speeds though? I didn’t test that, just what I read
Superb video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! 🤓
Unfortunately we get the slightly slower one in Europe as the battery is different. I have a 2024 Performance awesome car its not the 0 - 60 that I notice but the burst of acceleration when rolling easy to drive normally very quiet and comfortable
Ah okay, I’m sure it’s still lightning quick though! 🤓
The one on the video also has de lg battery. Only USA models get Panasonic
Awesome review. I’m really tempted to upgrade from my 2019 TM3 Longrange
Thank you! 🙏
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Do you mind me asking, how have you found Tesla M3 over the years? Anything you love? Anything you wish was different?
Model y performance for me and i love it quite a bit more than my CX5 Mazda.
Haven’t tried the Model Y Performance but I’m sure it’s almost as quick as this! 🤓
The question is, would you ever go back to petrol or diesel? Or are you EV for life 🤓

I absolutely love mine!
Awesome! What colour do you have? 🤓

Thanks for sharing your experience! 🤓
Yes I’ve seen some of those hills in Scotland when I reviewed the Marco Polo campervan that Mercedes have.
Stunning scenery though!
Good Nick!

Thank you for your quality content! Your videos always delight me with interesting topics and high level of performance.🌅🤗🌭
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed them! 👌🏼
(I say cheap, it’s still £20k but when compared with new)
The white seats of the Tesla looks like Baymax and Michelin👀
🤣
i am from Slovenia we sadly only have like 5 S Chargers in entire country so still bad, nearest SC from my home is like 90 km away
Hopefully it’ll get better in the future!
There are after-market indicator stalks available
Are there really? 😅

In the after market stalks are available.....
Really? Haha that’s interesting!
I presume a steering wheel modification then?
Tesla or Mercedes what you prefer for 60k price tag?
It’s very tricky, a lot of car manufacturers make great EV’s but it’s your individual experience which can sway you one way or the other. So for example,
Tesla have the supercharger network
Mercedes have Mercedes me Charge (I would like to revisit this soon and make a video!)
Mercedes have their own multimedia system called MBUX and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto
Tesla do not have the latter (but their software is very good so it makes up for it in most areas)
Mercedes EQE 53 starts at £105,810
Tesla Model 3 Performance starts at £59,990
Difference = £45,820
From an ownership point of view, running an EV and the simplistic nature of plugging into superchargers without fumbling around with apps and authenticating the charger I would have to give it to the Tesla.
Daimler’s head of trucks, Martin Daum, told reporters that he has doubts about Tesla achieving specs:
“If Tesla really delivers on this promise, we’ll obviously buy two trucks - one to take apart and one to test because if that happens, something has passed us by. But for now, the same laws of physics apply in Germany and in California.”
They have not yet ordered two Semis...
Daimler Trucks has appointed an (interim) new CEO on Oct1 - Karin Radstrom, as it cuts hours and imposes a job freeze because of subdued demand in Europe and Asia, and guidance "significantly below" that of 2023.
Meanwhile Tesla tours the Semis around Europe receiving accolades from DHL:
"During the trial, the trial vehicle averaged 1.72 kWh/mile operating at speeds exceeding 50 mph (80 km/h) on average for over half its time on the road. The result exceeded our expectations and even Tesla’s own rating".
Interesting info! Thanks for sharing!
Good job I’m reviewing several brands to give people a choice! 🤓
It’s interesting to see where all of this is going though!
...and the Insurance?
Just did a quote for myself
£200 more for the year than what I pay currently for a 1.3L petrol
Or
£16.66 more per month
For the car’s performance, that’s not bad! I actually thought it would be higher 😅
You do VW as well, I suppose they have a few years left, maybe.
For the moment...i just dream about one 😋❤️👍
I own a model 3 since 2018 and you almost don't have to touch the screen while driving, everything is on the steering wheel.
Awesome! How have you found it? 🤓
That’s awesome to hear! 🤓👌🏼
I got Audi eTron GT. Totally different class. Tesla has its own class but I never liked their style. Plus 0 to 60 is good then it can't keep up even with M3. Audi and M3 keep pulling and pulling and pulling. Again that is what I prefer. May be not a pratical person :)

2019-2023 Model 3 performance is 3.1sec 0-60 not a lot in it and a hell of a car for the money!
Yeah I saw a used one online recently, bargain for the performance! 🙏
I bought another car for as much money as this one, but it is so much nicer to drive than any Tesla, according to me. Yes, I’ve tried multiple models. Tesla just doesn’t give me that safe and steady feeling I like to have as a driver.
What did you go for? 🤓
@@npoleary Hi. I went for the Volvo C40. I tried many more cars than just Tesla. The C40 checked the most boxes of them all.

I like his first "Pro" - It's too fast so I would choose the LR over this.

I would like to know your views on a Porsche Macan turbo
Sadly not driven a Porsche Macan yet, only covered a select few brands on my channel to date but I might in the future!
However from the outside they are the complete opposite to this…Tesla remove buttons, Porsche have loads of them! 😅
the white seats alone make this a nice car. It is impossible to get that anywhere else
Yeah I’m not usually a fan of lighter interiors but I think it goes very well with the minimalistic design in this one 🤓

You don't cover voice control. Why not?
I did record that bit but for the video length I chose to edit it out. But I think going forward I’ll keep voice control in as it is a popular thing these days.

My good sir, how tall are you?
6ft 2” with very long legs 🤓
@@npoleary Indeed, "Sir.Lankylot", i might be in the process of acquiring a M3 LR of my own, but i just have some "concern" about the legroom for the passengers in the back on longer trips that it is spacious enough without any discomfort. (my circle of friends consist mostly of 6.0ft/180-190cm-individuals at the highest). 🤔
😅 haha
Ah fair enough, I mean I have very long legs so I could move it further forward and still be comfortable but I’m sure it would be alright. Try one out if you can, Tesla are very open to test drives so you can get a feel for it. If you haven’t test driven one make sure you try charging at a supercharger too! It is a must!
I love my Tesla 3, but my next car will NOT be a Tesla. I've had it with crazy Elon Musk, - Boy, is he a scary personality!
What are you thinking of next?
Thinking about reviewing Kia EVs anytime soon?
Not covered Kia EV’s to date yet but I might in the future! I’ve heard they make some incredible cars and I’ve seen how popular they are at motor shows
Who, really, needs to do 60 MPH in under 3 seconds, what great benefit do you derive from it? One of the great great benefits is for the tyre manufacturers.
Yeah I’m fairly confident not everyone is going to be launching this every second of their life, but I’ll say this. It certainly gives you a lot of confidence to overtake someone on a dual carriageway or motorway even just using 50% to 70% of the power 🚗 💨
Yeah right! I have to agree with the tyre aspect 😂
Fun is a benefit.

Great idea 😂 haha
They're a bit like Marmite aren't they?
Yeah! Some love the minimalistic interior where as some don’t 🤓
Ah interesting! 🤓
Thanks for sharing! Any ideas why the battery pack is different? If you do know? I’m just curious 🧐
I made a video about why Tesla don’t have it and my thoughts of it:

As you said Pre-conditioning the battery and route planning are things CarPlay cannot do today.

Possibly I’m considering expanding to more models 👊🏼 so we’ll see. Keep an eye out! 🤓
no signal stalk is not about getting used to, it's down right dangerous. If you buy the new Model 3, you'll probably want to find a third-party solution. In America, you might be okay, but not in the UK with roundabouts.
There are roundabouts all over Missouri and Indiana, in case you didn’t notice!
What's the point of buying a car with poor room for your passengers, and only room for a bag in your front boot, too clever by half.
Tesla Model Y is bigger and they have a performance model too 🤓
I've had people tell me that the Model 3 has plenty of room in the back seat.
There's more than room for three people and the rear boot is big.
One man's minimalistic is another man's poverty-spec.
Oh I see 🤓
That makes sense, I mean this one’s their fastest one, normal Model 3’s start from £39,990 so a lot less.
I guess it’s just the design they go for 🤓
Test drove, too much road noise, handling is a bit hit and miss but the biggest fails, stupid gear selector and the buttons for the indicators!
Handling was a bit hit and miss? I’m curious what did you not like about it?
I get the buttons though for indicators, that is different 😅
That's quite strange because I test drove a performance last week and it was extremely quiet and that's coming from an Audi A8. I wonder did you have different Tyres to mine??
You forgot to mention the biggest con - the price. How many people can afford a new Tesla? I would guess that the majority of sales are going to be company cars rather than private ownership.
Well this is the performance model so it’s expensive. They have other variants and models which are more affordable.
I have a real world example, Tesla this year have had many offers, I get their emails all the time….and both the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 (standard versions) are both cheaper per month than my daily car which is a Mercedes A180 (petrol)
I didn’t think that EV’s would “start” to enter that price point just yet.
Cheaper than a Prius and even a Corolla within a few years use!
Why would I need, or pay for a computer in a car? How long before your 10 year old computer isn't compatible?
Very fast for a fridge. Take care, don't burn inside one...
Tesla claims 0-60 in 2.9 seconds but every uk 🇬🇧 video I’ve seen gets nowhere near that time 🤷🏻♂️
It’s just because Tesla quote their 0-62 with roll out subtracted.
In terms of drag racing it measures when the car goes over a line (more info below)
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollout_(drag_racing)
Still stupidly fast though 😅😅
That's partly cos of rollout and partly cos they quote the US version which has more power.

Tesla’s are renowned for being minimalistic. I like to make the comparison of someone who works at a desk like in an office.
Some may like the “organised mess” on their desk, some like certain styles and designs, whereas some may like the minimalistic look with barely anything out. Tesla of course the latter 🤓
Not everyone likes that and I get that, it is quite different with no stalks for example.
All those additional buttons and shit are just clutter, looks like a mess and is hard to clean
