Everyone seems to be catching on to this now. I put 18 inch wheels on my 2024 M3P and am averaging 221/ Wh/mi over the past 1,900 miles. That’s almost 355 miles to a full charge. As much I as I enjoy the performance of the car, I enjoy getting the most efficiency out of even more. Call me crazy, but I’m actually considering trading it in on a long range rwd since I’m not driving it how it was intended. Btw, love the humor in your vids (literally feel like I’m watching myself) and was cool to see you on the latest “out of spec” vid. Looking forward to that series.
@davewhitegt Can you tell me what 18-inch rims you put on? Did you have to make any adjustments so that they would fit with the new brakes? It's interesting to know how to increase range and still have a rocket. Thank you from Spain
We just purchased a used 2021 model 3 AWD long range and we love it. I love the simplicity of it as well as the technology. It really is like nothing else I’ve ever owned. I think that anyone who gets a chance to drive one they should. I guarantee they will be smiling when they do.
Excellent and accurate on everything you said. Mine is a daily driver. Had it since May 29th of this year. Even with all the launches I’ve done my lifetime average is 314 miles of usable range for full charge. I’ve gotten as high as 360 on some drives. My worst drives I’m down to 270miles. One thing you didn’t mention along with low profile tires is the low ride height at 5.” You have to drive it with this awareness. Lots of people curb rash their Tesla wheels and or scrap their lips because they don’t have awareness of these ride heights.
When I decided to trade in my 2020 model 3 AWD I drove every current model, considering not just my likes and dislikes but those of my wife. The Model 3 P was the standout. In my younger days I drove a Porsche, flew a hot Army scout helicopter and liked a challenge. Now I am retired and have a wife who when she drives likes a responsive car, but when I drive likes it calm and easy. Her ride is a Lexus with a modified suspension and to my surprise she approved the model 3 P. We talked about the range difference and price and she said go for it. So we did. The trade in had FSD so I moved that to the new car, and when actual FSD appears I will be a totally happy camper.
By the way I swapped out the stock wheels for t-sport Line 18-in Wheels with a square setup 235 all the way around. Just got back from driving from North Georgia to Boca Chica and back a round trip of over 2000 miles. My average consumption over 12,000 MI has been 242 Watt hours per mile which implies if I were to use the entire battery of 82 kilowatts arrange of 328 MI. And the t-sport Line Wheels ticket cost mean anything because I sold the stock wheels for more than the t-sport line wheel and tires cost. As far as comfort, it's firm but I like a firm car I've driven Porsche BMW Mercedes, mini sports cars over the years, the ride is very comfortable for daily driving. My biggest complaint with the car is that the brakes aren't really up to truly spirited driving I caught them on fire inside of a minute of 10 10ths driving. But for daily driving it is perfectly adequate if I were going to track the car I would be working on getting more air to the rotors and possibly different rotors entirely. People complain endlessly about the lack of stocks I think that's a red herring from people who have never actually driven the car, that has been zero issue it took me less than an hour to adjust my muscle memory.
@Reebok4523 You buy a performance car and drive it balls to the wall all the time? Dumb. I use fsd when I'm not interested in pushing it. Like when I'm on a daily commute or a 20 hour road trip. Try to use your brain in the future.
Very sharp looking vehicle. But, the staggered wheel sizes, no steering wheel stalks, and low step in height made the Model Y with 19" wheels a better choice for me. I've tested FSD for a few minutes and it is not my cup of tea. Stresses me more to worry about the computer screwing up than for me to just drive the vehicle myself.
I have the Y with stalks and bought a 3 without stalks. Been driving about 60 years, owned over 30 cars and have adjusted to a lot of changes/features. I thought I might not like it. Within 3 days I loved the stockless system. Even prefer it.
I've been trying to love FSD for a couple months on my daily commute (mostly highway) and it can absolutely be more stress than it's worth. It's still an unfinished product in my eyes. Edit: forgot to mention - it doesn't work at night on rural roads because of the "occluded" pillar cameras when it gets too dark for the cams 🤦♂️
If the performance model is too expensive, the dual motor alarm with acceleration boost is a good option. It has the smaller wheels and still very quick
I just upgraded from a 2021 Long Range to a 2024 M3P. It definitely is smoother, even with the larger wheels. But I still loved my 2021 and was sad to see it sold. The model 3/y in any trim must be one of the best daily drivers out there. I live in Japan and autopilot works awesome here. It works way better than Japanese self-driving systems I have driven, like Honda Sensing. Making a day trip up north is a breeze with autopilot.

@@johnkent5042 Everybody knows that Teslas do not last longer than tw weeks and the battery must be exchanged every year and they squeack and rattle all the time and when you park them in the garage the burn every time. Luckily you and me are not everybody. Never had such trustworthy and easy to use cars in 45 years. My first M3 from 2019 had one failure in the 3-phase charger when one phase gave up. That was of course repaired without cost and i even got a free Model S loaner for the time. Whereas with my Skoda Enyaq EV i had to wait 6 months for a repair of the battery and with my Fiat 500E i must go to the dealer every year for mandatory service appointments. Not for much longer.
i also was specing a taycan but its double the price and then some when you configure it, and its electric... i almost got a Panamera 4s instead to get the real engine but went with M3P quicksilver with the white. for 55k its a no brainer especially when you run the software integrated with the car... that was my big issue with porsche ev. Also liked the Lotus Emira to get one final car with a clutch before they become a thing of the past.
@@Skeetskeet333 That’s fine that you think that. I personally like it more with the covers on. Especially since you can’t take all of them off, there are ones that are part of the wheel, and you can only take off the really big pieces.
Overall a great car - I still have my 2018 M3awdLR and love it. But the turn signals? Left/right function arranged up & down? Kinda dumb. Great review as always 😎
I got used to them within the first few hours of driving the car home and to a few other spots. I do kind of wish they had put them on opposite sides of the steering wheel, but I can't say this configuration is that much worse.

Only issue i see are constant tires/brakes change and the duct tape build quality.
Better than Ford, Stellantis or GM. What do you expect? Tesla Berlin Quality? Not for you.
The build quality is great now on the new Model 3's and I barely use the brakes because of regen
Build quality on my 2018 Model 3 is comparable to my previous two cars - a 2001 Mercedes E320 wagon and a 2004 BMW 325ci. After 6 years, still no squeaks or rattles in the Tesla.
I know the power of first impressions, but it doesn't hurt to actually see the new cars upclose for a change.
Was thinking about an M3P and second guessing myself, but I’m going to keep my Taycan order.
Take one for a test drive
i also was specing a taycan but its double the price and then some when you configure it, and its electric... i almost got a Panamera 4s instead to get the real engine but went with M3P quicksilver with the white. for 55k its a no brainer especially when you run the software integrated with the car... that was my big issue with porsche ev. Also liked the Lotus Emira to get one final car with a clutch before they become a thing of the past.
Why do you keep those plastic caps in your wheels?
For efficiency. When you remove them it lowers the range on the car, and as a small bonus it somewhat protects the wheels a bit better.
@@ProXcaliberright but it doesn’t look as good
@@Skeetskeet333 I mean, that’s subjective. I don’t think they look great, but they definitely don’t look terrible either.
@@ProXcaliber they look great without the covers tho.
I think you will need to experience it personally before making a conclusion, it is kind of what he is saying in the video.
I got used to them within the first few hours of driving the car home and to a few other spots. I do kind of wish they had put them on opposite sides of the steering wheel, but I can't say this configuration is that much worse.
Great video as usual and if anybody needs a working referral code please let me know, mine has never been used so we can both benefit!
Lot 🦎.

Sup gjeebs nice vid. Also you need some trenbolone
hey man why you gotta make fun of peasants going to their miserable jobs in a gas car with no FSD like that? Be more subtle ;)
Please don’t shill for Elon. He’s horrific. He’s gone all in for a fascist.
Wow, I guess propaganda is alive and well.
So I am not allowed to have that opinion of him?
You are one sad, delusional individual.
I find it so funny that some people who claim to be liberals are the most intolerant of all.
Such a tired take. Geebs is spot on. Tesla/SpaceX employs tens of thousands Americans, but you have a problem with him because of his political alignment.
