Love the diversity and aesthetics of the Seleucid roster. I usually make Pergamon my satrapy so that I can levy some of their elite thureos spears and elite melee cavalry.
Indeed, the Seleucids have a crazy good roster. Incredibly diverse, mostly warrior pop 2 class and elite. I prefer to take Pergamon for myself, however, as it is a region with the best economic province, Asia.
@rodrigoron5406 Bactrian Cataphracts are the same stats as the Seleucid Nisean ones. The Hellenic Cataphracts are inferior to both. But yes, the Cretan settlers are good and also horse archers.
Awesome! Very few creators have a cadence that really brings me back excited for a total war campaign through to the end. Especially DEI seleucids are intimidating so excited to come back and finish this over the next couple days!
Super happy to have found your channel. Really enjoyed the history introduction to the region and your diplomatic outlook. This is just solid Rome 2 Total War content all around!
A tip for phalangites (pikes), once the maneuvering of the cavalry is finished, and only melee infantry of your opponent remains that are engaged with the phalangite line, select your units (individually is more efficient) and click once on the enemy they are fighting. This will have them engage fully, instead of defensively, meaning they will start churning their grinder. Same goes for hoplites. Double clicking they will push a few steps into the enemy. It is really cool, especially if you pause and individually order the line to push forward and un-pause to see them do it in synchronicity
welcome back man. really glad youre feeling better. Thank You for sharing your extensive mod list! i just built my first PC so im going to grab these up for my campaigns. Best of luck friend!
I love playing the Seleucids in Rome 2 and especially DEI. Playing the failing Empire is a nice switch from playing a rising power. You have all these resources and money, but enemies on all sides, limited population and culture problems. If you survive, the reward is Silver Shields and Cataphracts which is basically all the tools needed to rule the East and some of the best provinces in easy reach. I've had the early game blow up on me though where all the Satraps turn on me, Egypt is aggressive and Galatians and Greeks in the West picking off my scraps. The victory felt earned.
Agree 100% I know other total war folks do it but the strategy and commentary >>>> other folks. Ideally we just have your brain and narration stylized like OG officiallydevin Massalia Tales!
Greetings! Gound your Channel by pure luck. Anyhow Im very glad to have done so. Very good explaining, with good knowledge and a nice, emotional and emphatic voice! Cheers to u good Sir! :)
Thank you for the compliment. I am trying to work on my voice, which tends to be monotonous, so I'm making more of a conscious effort towards better intonation .
@mikealpha2611 they are very cost effective and allow for you to not put too much strain on your better population classes in the early game allowing them to grow when you really need to spam them out in the mid game.
I am curios about thing, in your Roma lets play, we saw unique historical characters such as Caesar and Augustus, could we maybe have and Antiochus III the Great in this one, later on?
"A fine addition to my collection" Looking forward for more episodes. Awesome work, man! 😀😀 Edit: Can't wait to see more of Alexander-style armies and tactics (including Hammer and Anvil). Appreciate the immersive gameplay and solid strategies!
My usual strategy for the Selucids is to rush and destroy Galatia with Antiochus, then move and strike Egypt. If you can control Jerusalem you can effectively make a choke point against the Egyptian and Nabateans. For the Easterm front, I usually take out Asagarta, making my relation with Parsa and Parthava much better. The Mauryans, the Bactrians and the Parthians are next in the same order.
@furiousscotsman2916 believe it has to do with AI perception of your economic might, combines with other factors. This is why diplomacy is the very first thing I do before spending my starting treasury.
I've been reading up a bit on the Seleucid Empire when you first announced this. I know it was a prominent Hellenic Dynasty that despite its ups and downs, you see that it lasted up until Pompeius Magnus came to Syria in 63 BC.
The Empire came close to reuniting Alexander's empire under Antiochus the Great, but the Romans cunningly divided and played the Greeks against the Seleucids.
Seleucus Nicator also nearly reunited the empire but was assassinated by the Ptolemids. Meanwhile, you're right, Antiochus III. The Great actually reconquered the East all the way to India and even got a foothold in Thrace, but the Romans just couldn't be messed with.
@josegutierrez4969 legendary difficult is legendary for a reason. But personally I would have preferred difficulty levels to add intelligence not Stat handicaps.
I don't understand why but i can't get the same start as yours. Got the same mods, same order, everything, but when i start the game i have 1k less money, a few units missing from recruitment and not the same diplomacy relations.
@@asirry3144 you can activate it in the preference script in your document folder for the game. Called UI Telestration (I'm sure I butchered the spelling). Change from "false" to "true".
I almost use the same mods as you do, but when i fight the ai almost every battle some of the ai troops get stuck under ground, do you know the problem of this?
@ESS-11 if it prevents you from completing battles, I usually restart the battle with a time limit. And then once the battle is done I reset it to unlimited.
Could possibly be better. But Rome is strong as is. And I'm hoping for as always for a variety of factions to face off, rather than spend 100 turns eliminating Rome cause every other faction is wiped out.
Furthermore, Seleucid rulers styled themselves as both Megas Basileus and Shahanshah. The first is great king, and the second is king of kings in literal translation, but actually, both mean emperor.
Hey again ^^ I don't know if is fate or something I want it to start a SELEUCIDS camp myself but on Europa Barbarorum and DEI but since you started one I'm gonna look yours first meanwhile got a GETAE DEI campaign going (just started) to see what changed in DEI with 1.3.3 can't wait to see your future development with Antiochus :P have to say want it you to play on relentless and with out garrison mod for penalty coz make the game so easy and to abuse AI in Rome 2 DEI is easy enough for a veteran player like yourself(with diplomacy and thing's) and take a way the challenge and even in mid Game will be more of a grind then Challenge and that kills immersion a little bit,but is just my opinion, let me know what you think ^^
The problem with no garrison mod is that it will make my expansion easier. The problem with AI is that anything you mod to help them helps you more. The only thing that works is giving them more stats with the difficulty slider but to see levy citizens with a dagger beat silver shield swordsmen is game breaking and immersion breaking.

This is to do with the Timbe trade regions mod. Make sure the load order is right.

Are you planning on using 41 stack armies again??
No, it messes with campaign balance it makes the Germanic factions in particular way too overpowered.
