My Virgin Kitchen is a UA-cam cooking channel I created when I wanted to teach myself how to cook and create a video diary of the journey / mrbarrylewis . I have never had a professional lesson & am just your every day chap attempting recipes to inspire you guys to try too. Most uploads are how to recipe cooking videos, but some fun is had too on Sunday Funday when anything goes, including giant foods, mini foods, taste testing foods sent from around the World, food gadgets and many more. Any requests for recipes / cool stuff you've seen let me know! I try my best to reply to as many comments as possible, but please interact with eachother and be respectful :-) #barrylewis #kitchengadget #gadgets
"I get quite smelly fingers for many different reasons" Barry 2016
1% of me wants to ask, but the other 99% of me is sure I would immediately regret it.
+CrankyPants haha! me too!
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I read this as he said it 😳😂
my mind went to a wrong place 😏😏😏
with the teabag gadget thing, you pull the handle up to open it and we find it so useful. we keep it with a little bowl by the kettle for tea bags so we don't have to make the arduous metre journey across the kitchen to the bin each time we have a mug of tea.
My biggest issue with the biscuit mug is that there's only room for one....who eats one biscuit? I'd need one that holds the whole packet.
Chelsea Dunbar so true .
Maybe it’s actually for a tea bag.
@@soupsgord that’s why it says “biscuit” on it ..?
Hey Barry, you should do a student meal week! Meals for under £5 or whatever. I think that would be great to watch (as a student).
+Rafeeeeeeeeeeey Same here man.
even as a professional this massively helps
Easy. A base of potatoes (more nutrients) or rice (cheaper), some sauce for flavour and more nutrients, done. A whole meal for under 25 cents. Feel free to spend the other 97% of your gigantic budget on vegetables, meat or other niceties, or use it to survive the rest of the week. Peanut butter is a great source of nutrients, too. It's quite expensive in comparison to other options, but combined with some inexpensive or even homemade bread you still get several meals out of one jar - and you can get more than one set of these for that much money.
+insanemole You're American aren't you? Thinking of buying in bulk, with large jars of peanut butter? Very different here in the UK - many want to eat nutritiously with a variety of foods / flavours / textures. Studying at Uni, with the work they get - can be exhausting. It varies from student to student, & not all will have time to stand & make homemade bread. It's also, for the majority at least, their first time away from home - learning to budget, juggling work, trying not to be too much of a hermit & socialising when possible, paying bills, keeping in touch with family, washing, cleaning, getting to know the people they live with.
It's definitely not easy for a lot of students to find good meals for a small amount, the U.S. Is considerably cheaper than the UK overall, but we do have better quality in terms of knowing where out veggies, fruits, meats, etc come from & how they're grown.
I agree with potatoes though - they can be cooked a thousand & 1 ways.
I hope Barry is able to help you guys out :) I'm sure he could think up some great recipes x
The scissors come apart so they're easier to clean
+PokeVictini and so you don't stab your child in the face
+Jay Jay Well I mean yeah, I guess
***** Calm down Mr serious.
+tone vallestad
agreed
+tone vallestad Kitchen scissors are like this. It has nothing to do with this gadget. It really os for easier cleaning.
i know this is from a while ago, but did you try turning the garlic peeling thing(the first gadget ) but did you try turning it inside out? I may be wrong but to me it looks like the smooth side should be on the outside instead of the inside.
i'd say that, or to cut the head? part off, so its more flush when rolling around? I feel like that might be what went wrong
I see why you think that but I don't think it's the case
I have the teabag squeezer, you pull the plunger up to open the claws.
I actually love it, but I like very strong tea.
Also: You should totally try "Flammkuchen" (Literal Translation: Flame Cake). Its pizza dough with a sour-cream sauce (Sour Cream, Salt, Pepper, a dash of Paprika and parsley) topped with onions and additionally cheese. Then, it gets baked. Its a great dish from the Alsace.
I may make this tomorrow
My Virgin Kitchen Awesome! I bet you will like it :)
I love Flammkuchen!!!
+John Smith I had to screencap this. I'll have to try it!!!
Flammkuchen is german
I've never heard of an English person who doesn't like tea...
+DarkMatter I've never seen an American person who isn't obese
+Emma “Clifford” Urie-Sykes my cousin is English and she doesn't like tea or coffee
+Fish in a Top Hat (KSP) That escalated quickly.
+DarkMatter Ashens doesn't like tea either
+DarkMatter Ashens doesn't like tea. He prefers coffee like me.
"I get smelly fingers for a lot of different reasons" XD
I know I was like... Uh, alright then.
I was waiting for someone to pick up on that!
that's why he's a virgin
+panic at the chemical brides brides he's not he has kids
I'm beginning to realize enjoying and not minding the smell of garlic isn't the norm :/
you hate tea melons eggs cucumber and around half the other things that you get gadgets for
olives
that's actually pretty funny
Torin Barber
That’s not funny? Just coz he’s British. And yes I know Britain and tea is stereotypical but not every one likes it
Little boy Dedoid I don’t think they were talking about the tea part...?
"Come on kids, gather 'round, let's play Let's Make the Fish Puke!"
"I get quite smelly fingers; for a lot of different reasons..."
Many*
+Dan2711 what other reasons could there be
SteamShovel Studios wanking
It looks like the tea device handle pulls back to open and close it.
"I get smelly fingers for a variety of reasons" I'm done that was deffo a little nod to the audience 😂
Lewi
3:48 lmao you got a bit dirty
+rockyboi742 haha
+My Virgin Kitchen I like you're tractor mug!
love your gadget videos! my dad was a huge gadget guy, if there was a gadget to do something he had to have it. I used to say that he was responsible for the success of Ron Popeil the original gadget guy. my dad passed away in 1985, long before internet could bring useless gadgets to your home overnight! thanks for your cool videos, my dad is smiling down on you.
A lot of people seem to think that it's strange for a British person to not like tea, I live in Enland, I know a lot of people who HATE tea. I like tea but nit strong tea it has to be milky on an average day I drink around 6 cups... The first thing I do when I wake up is make a cup of tea and the last thing I do at night is to have a cup of tea.... Thinks for reading my strangly long comment about tea I don't know where it came from!
I don't know why that comment became so long, I was basically just saying that there are a lot of British people that don't like tea :-)
Lol. Just lol. Particularly at the "excited face - hey hey!"
How is Robocop smelling?
+Hackfleischkanone like a can of beans
+dschonsie yummy
Those metal ‘soaps’ are fantastic. I bought one after seeing Ainsley Harriot recommend one on Ready Steady Cook in the days of fern britton
What a coincidence that your and Sorted videos are similar themes and released within minutes of each other. Yours appears to be a little more serious though :P
I love the tea tool. If you pull the plunger it opens the holder bit :s
I use mine all the time.
Yes why use normal scissors when you could use pizza scissors
Or just a large knife that can ALSO be used like these pizza scissors.
+Flying Toaster To fair it not that easy to cut a pizza with a knife. Well not for me.
ronariverah It has to be a large knife, i have a 9 1/2 inch knife and i can cut a pizza really really well with it, very easily too. But not all knives work well (Especially if they're dull.)
+ronariverah or a pizza wheel :P
Yeah and why not just use a pizza cutter and a spatula it's way way faster :)
The first thing, for garlic, he put that bulb in every which way except for the way that made the most sense lol.
You can't possibly dislike tea. You just didn't tasted the right one yet.
+Geodracula the thing is, there are SO MANY tea types out there, he cannot have possibly tried them all to be able to say he doesn't like tea you know ?
***** Have you ever tried flower teas? Maybe what you don't like is the bitterness of strong teas and coffees, but flower teas are very soft ;) You should try it !
And the fact he didn't put milk or sugar into it. Seriously, if you don't like it bitter just add milk and sugar
Thank you so very much. Your videos are very amusing and give a giggle. I’m a Granny,
and I actually received the “Biscuit Pocket” Cup for my birthday from my seven year old Grandson.
OF COURSE I LIKE IT! (For that reason ALONE!) If your biscuit or cookie has any sort of
chocolate on the outside of it... YOU’RE IN FOR QUITE THE MESS. Be prepared. I ONLY USE
WHEN MY GRANDSON IS VISITING. Shhh 🤫
When my dad chopped onions I cried
I miss onions
Onions was a nice dog
Oh no you didn’t 😭😭😂
well that escalated quickly...
3:49 "because I get smelly fingers for a variety of reasons" *pulls dirty look and stares widely at camera*
I'm so glad you include the amazon reviews. they're really funny 😆
Also, you're hilarious and I'm going to sub
My gma has had one of those steel soaps for years and years and as far as I’m concerned it works !
love your videos
+Amber Tabernacki cheers Amber
+My Virgin Kitchen it glitch during the video
Hi
Barry, the first pair of pizza shears you used are most likely meant to be closed together first, then used to pick up the slice. You do not need the other half of the shears to be exposed. Nor do the shears need to be disassembled like that to eliminate the risk of cutting yourself. It seems like you use them to cut the pizza, then close the shears together, then pick up the slice. 9:15
Those types of scissors, pixza type or otherwise, generally come apart soo that yippy can wash them easier..andor in the dish washer.
Fyi.
Tho, Im certainly not trying to kill your excitement!
(Plz excuse the ridiculous auto-correct/spelling mishaps via my phone!)
"What the hell was that, did you hear that it was like a Bing" omfg I was dying 😂
there is this kitchen gadget called "funnel" which lets you transfer liquids from one container to another without any spillage ! Magic really. Ha! I loved your video btw.
My herb scissors are particularly good. Basically it's 8 bladed scissors, like four pairs of scissors stacked.
I also have the goldfish thing. It's great how somthing so simple can be such a help.
Do a giant pizza *_*
He will have to do it slice by slice
It wont fit in his oven 😂😂
+Corri Precious 😂😂😂😂😂
+Graziella Pollastri
I think sexual content is against the rules of UA-cam, but I like your burlesque creativity.
+Bumble Bee i'm sorry, what?!?!?!!
+pixylator8 thanks :)
LOL at the mug you used for the tea- reppin' the west country.
You hate tea? BLASPHEMY!!!
Maybe don't serve little Billy a slice of pizza by walking over pointng an open pair of scissors with the thing he really wants on them, unless you really want to test the efficiency of your local accident and emergency department.
All these none British people commenting daft things about tea. Guys! Tea is the one thing we know! Let us have at least that!
Don't, just don't
Mood
Tea is a Chinese thing to begin with lol. So yes, non british people can comment about tea
Protip for garlic -
Hit the garlic on the top with your palm to open it up. Throw everything in the bowl (even the "waste").
Put an upside bowl on top of the bowl (So it makes a ufo type shape) and shake them hard for about 15 seconds.
Pick out the separated cloves.
if you have skill you can use a fork to get the egg yoke too
I have one of those soaps. I wash my hands with normal soap but it doesn't get rid of the smell completely (even after a few washes), but if I use that after (or with) it goes entirely.
For a that big of a food fan you surely hate a lot of it... :)
Every time a British person says they hate tea an angel loses its wings.
kitchen scissors come apart for cleaning
That Amazon review at 8:09 is so enigmatic. Did Bob mean the product was just ok? Was it a flippant "ok" meant to mock the product's existence? Was Bob typing "Ok..." as the beginning to some kind of sordid pizza-related confession, but lost his nerve at the last minute, accidentally clicking send instead of delete in his haste, but then choosing to keep the one word review posted as a monument to the courage that he almost had? We'll never know...
u always say "I hate tea" or "I hate olives". well u hate a lot of things
ow ant btw i love ur Brittish accent!
and*
i think i said something like this on the last video, but things like the tea tool are generally made for people like me who aren't able to use a spoon. so for example, people who can't grip a spoon well or have to be careful around boiling water lest they injure themselves. that's not to say non-disabled/younger people can't use these products, its just something to keep in mind when you use them.
love the videos btw.
He didn't even put milk in tea
I have the mug with the horizontal biscuit slot. It fits three chocolate digestives and the warmth of the tea above warms them and melts the chocolate ❤️
I'm American & ik biscuits in England are cookies but I was for some reason still expecting a biscuit 😂😂
This makes me angry
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only British person who hates tea. 😂
love ur videos
+diycatlover thanks a bunch
+My Virgin Kitchen no problem they are the best basically the only awesomely good entertainment on UA-cam thank you for replying not many other youtubers do xxxxx
+diycatlover I used to reply to everyone but it's so tricky now sadly otherwise I wouldn't make any more videos
+My Virgin Kitchen I can understand that it's tricky your channel has grew so much I love your giant foods I've watched them all
+My Virgin Kitchen
Your videos are the reply, everyone wins!
your kettle. looks awesome. what brand is it??
I like the smell of garlic
Oh Barry just watched your cackhandedness of the tea presser thing. I brough it as a token Christmas present it's still in use everyday 2 years later its bloody awesome and push to spread the fingers..
Who the hell uses scissors to cut pizza? Is this a British thing...
+Bonnie - 少女 well the first one was a german product and im pretty sure the second one was too so it might be big in germany. or its just one of those novelty kitchen items people make
+Geodracula we do that in the u.s also
Not really a British thing, but it's a good idea!
Always done it, and I'm Italian :)
+Bonnie - 少女 everyone can do as they pleases.
I use scissors (normal scissors, not the one of the video) and cut first half, then quarters and then eat them with my hands. My grandma uses a round pizza cutter: the result is the same I can assure
little Billy at his pizza party 😂 where does Barry find is golden phrases
Trump is going to be president. The planet is warming. People are cutting pizza with scissors.
We're all doomed.
Some pizza has to be cut with scissors, especially at home.
T_T
"I do get quite smelly fingers for a variety of reasons"
- Barry Lewis, 2016
tea tip, ADD MILK!!
I never add milk to my tea. just sugar, or honey when I have a sore throat.
RUM
Been using the odour removing steel for years, I think it’s fab
Instead of wasting ur money on a silicone fish use a plastic bottle
Yea I totally agree
but it looks better
So
But then you have to buy bottled water lol. The fish is always there once you buy it:D
Well he did say the fish is only like £1 and water can sometimes cost £1.80 to £2 so in a way the fish is a better product
"... And if you suck it up, like that and then just push it out, it's kinda like regurgitating so uhh it's an added bonus game; if you wanna play that with your kids." - Barry 2016.
Regurgitate - bring (swallowed food) up again to the mouth.
Fun game, Barry... we're concerned about what games you play with your kids...
Small sandwich/sugar cube tongs work well for grabbing and squeezing your tea bags as well.
1 Bic pen white outside casing with ink, tip & bottom cap removed + pressure on a cherry where the stem use to be on a cutting board is the best free cherry pitter I ever had 🍒
You're right, after you rubbed your hands with the "soap" I couldn't smell any garlic through the the screen...(I hope you know I'm joking😂)
I love your attitude, very upbeat and willing to entertain new ideas, up to a certain point.
don't know If someone has already mentioned this, but kitchen scissors are meant to come apart so that you can properly clean them! All the little groves in scissors can retain food bits and get fungus or really bad bacteria!
Hey Barry, a couple of comments.
First, the scissors separate like that for cleaning. any decent kitchen shears should be able to be taken apart by opening them up all the way and lifting them apart.
Second, Squeezing a teabag after it has steeped will just squeeze in all the left over bitter tannins. That tea tool is not only dumb, it makes a bad cuppa.
Love your videos. Certainly not trying to criticize you, just thought you might like to know.
Hi Barry, being a bit of a kitchen gadget collector myself, I'm enjoying your videos! Just a query, the teabag plunger thing, aren't you supposed to push the top to release the teabag rather than opening it and burning your hands?
At first I was thinking "this is one of the most British UA-camrs I've seen" and then he said he doesn't like tea haha, love this channel though!
Also, have you tried pressing further on the tea tool plunger after it's all the way down? I saw one at the 99cent store in the USA here that opened its prongs after pushing further down on the plunger bit.
the mug with the biscuit holder would be amazing for those nutella-filled cookies, because the tea can warm them up and melt the filling. then again, so would placing it on top of a sufficiently slender mug. but still.
The scissors coming apart also makes cleaning a lot nicer.
That finger fresh metal bar does work. Had one for years
There needs to be a my virgin kitchen sorted food collaboration!
I always thought the biscuit pocket would become particularly useless around the time you took a bite out of your biscuit, because it suddenly becomes too small to get out of said pocket.
3:54 is it only me who would probably buy this whether I liked eggs or not? It looks so NICE!
The biscuit cup was kind of cool, I've seen some around but there is a reason we have 2 hands. 1 for the cup of coffee, tea, coco, Milo what ever you want and our other hand for holding the cookies/biscuits, but then again some people are really lazy lol
The tea making thing to release the teabag you pull the plunger button back
The scissors come apart for cleaning as well. You don't want food stuff stuck in the hinge for months.
most kitchen shears come apart like that because when you put them in the dishwasher you separate the two pieces it makes it where the joint itself doesn't rust
The cup with the biscuit holder would be ideal for kiddies 😊
Mike Jeavons can lend you an egg separator. Just make sure you hold it still for a few seconds after each use as shown in the informercial.
I have a thingy that is supposed to be a combination egg opener, egg holder and serviette holder. It's called the "cregg", and in my opinion it fails at at least two of its purposes. I still like it though, somehow. Maybe because it's just so strange, or because it's such an interesting idea with such a bad implementation. Might be interesting to check out if you find one. It's basically a weirdly shaped plastic ring with cutting wheels on the inside.
try tea with a bit of lemon juice and sugar to your liking I do it when I make hot tea and it tastes amazing
I like the garlic tube & goldfish egg separator
When you said you hated tea I nearly pissed my pants.
you put the garlic clove into the well, roll it a little, then push it down through the bottom :) the silicone holds the peel
You're so fun to watch! You have the perfect personality for UA-cam.
I just got two of the garlic peeler tubes and I love it
I like how the figurine of Ashens has been in the background of your last few videos.
I'm sure someone has mentioned it already, but the scissors also come apart for easier cleaning--as they are going to get cheese and other gooey bits in between them.
that pronunciation of flammkuechen was brilliant barry XD you really should try it one day, it is even better than regular pizza
With the tea plunger, you pull the bit on top to release it 😊
