Thanks for watching folks! If you want to have a Barrathon, you can watch the rest of the kitchen gadget testing videos here on this playlist ua-cam.com/video/hECAxPxsdmo/v-deo.html Hope you have a great day - i'll be retesting the robot one with a sugar cookie recipe I reckon.
Are you sure you used baking soda? chocolate chip cookie dough usually isn't the best for making shaped cookies since chocolate chip cookie dough is supposed to spread out in the oven which is why you roll it into balls before baking. You might want to try something else like sugar cookies since those keep their shape when baking.
OH! That makes more sense... See in Britian only chocolate chip cookies are called "cookies"... It never occured to me that "Cookie cutters" are actually "Biscuit cutters"...
Are you not supposed to use that thing from the last one like a pipette, not just pour the oil straight in it and then put the orange bit on. Cause that way the oil would stay in it
wow I was surprised to hear someone mention that some of these things we think are lazy/silly are actually useful for those with disabilities props to you dude
Sometimes I srsly wonder if he's that inexperienced or is he just makes the dumbest mistakes for publicity. He'd have to be a great actor cause his confusion seems genuine every time.
please PLEASE RE TEST PEANUT BUTTER MAKER WITH ROASTED NUTS AND CORRECT OIL PLUS USING THE MACHINE CORRECT :) oh and the cookies with mayybe a different dough that keeps shape??
That bit with the peanut butter maker had me in tears! The ferocity of the machine as it clicks on, Barry's face and reaction to it, the fact he left the lid on, he atrocity that came out the bottom... Pure (unintended) comedy gold!!! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!
You need to make cutout sugar cookie dough, it will definitely keep its shape in the oven! I work at a confectionary shop and the recipe we use includes baking powder (only a tiny bit though) and they still come out with the right shape. Also, if you want chocolate in there i recommend using smaller chunks or even shavings to make sure that you don't miss a spot when cutting the cookies out (might be important when assembling the robot later on)
I really, really appreciate the retests. It shows you actually pay attention to what people say *and* you want to give all the gadgets a good go. Keep being awesome!
Barry, did you toast the peanuts? That helps releasing the natural oils from the nuts, improve the taste and reduce the amount of oil that you need to create a paste. The oil dropper will only hold the oil if you put the squishy top, as it creates a vaccum. Maybe you could squish it to fill with oil rather than removing the top part.
You should keep the bulb/balloon on the oil dispenser, squeezing then releasing it to draw the oil into the pipette. Air pressure will keep the fluid in there until you squeeze, like a syringe. The bulb is more than likely removable for easier cleaning. (That said- you can just as easily make nut butters in the food processor.)
Exactly. I know you can make peanut butter in a food processor and might try doing that as nearly all the peanut butter in the shops is made with palm oil now and there's too much controversy about palm oil being really bad for your health and destroying wildlife habitats.
Uuh, correct me if I'm wrong but that thing at the top looks an awful lot like a baster. If so, isn't the best way to fill it (and maintain negative pressure, thus preventing the oil from escaping) to insert it into a bowl/cup/similar of oil with the bulb depressed, and release the bulb? ...The oil control was bad on this one. No wonder it ended up looking like mashed banana.
Sharn River I can only imagine the hilarity on Christmas day when he's basting the turkey and trying to tip the juices from the tray into the nozzle and then attach the rubber ball, all the whilst dripping all over the floor.. Mrs Barry would not be amused.. Though the pugs might.
You aren't supposed to take the balloon-like part off the oil reservoir and fill it up like that! Squeeze the rubber part THEN dip the end of the plastic container into oil. Then, release the rubber part. Oil will go find its place by their own.
If you ever decide to re-test the robot cookie cutter, it may be helpful to use a sugar cookie dough rather than chocolate chip, and chill the dough after cutting out the shapes then straight into the oven. Great video as always xx
BurntFaceMan there's an airbubble in eggs, which obviously expands while heating it up. That can lead to the egg being cracked while cooking. Doesn't happen all the time, but it can happen. The hole gives the air somewhere to escape
i think that technique has something to do with placing eggs into boiling water. If you start your eggs in cold water, piercing shouldn't be necessary.
idk if thats only the case in germany, but these egg cutters are everywhere. we have them, my grandma has them and the bakery ive worked at had them :D i thought everyone knows about them ^^;;
While egg slicers are common, the special thing about this one was that it included an egg piercer and a second way to slice. The most common ones only slice one way ^-^
Barry, does the UK have sweetened condensed milk in a can? If it does you remove the wrapper from the can and put it in a pot. Cover the can with water and bring it all to a boil. Boil it for 2-3 hours, never letting the can poke out of the water (keep water going in your kettle to replenish the pot). After 3 hours leave it in the water until the water cools. Remove the can and do not open if it is still too warm to touch (I leave mine over night). When you open it it is totally toffee/thick caramel. It's delicious.
Chocolate chip cookies are a drop cookie they always spread out you need to use a cookie like a sugar cookie or gingerbread cookies that is good for rolling and cutting them out
I started watching this channel a few days ago... and I’m all honesty I can say I’m addicted! Some of these gadgets are so cool! And the videos are so relaxing I love watching them in bed before I go to sleep!
So, Barry, I think maybe you used the wrong kind of cookie dough -- more of a sugar cookie or any dough made specifically for rolling out and cutting. Chocolate cookie dough spreads out too much while cooking. Also, with the egg slicer, it would be cool to use both blades -- the quarter one and then the slicer-- it might make smaller pieces of egg. Just a thought. Sorry about the egg and cheese differences, but I still respect you. ;)
The peanut butter made me laugh out loud 🤣🤣🤣 I made my own the other day and you don't need to add any extra oil as nuts release natural oils after you blend them for a couple of minutes in a standard blender! 😊
Chocolate chip cookie dough or sugar cookie based doughs are not the best for detailed shaped cookies. Sugar cookie based doughs spread when they are cooked. The best is typically a gingerbread cookie or similar cookies.
I've now watched most of the gadget videos multiple times now. I get to watching them and don't realize I've already watched them, I usually continue watching anyways. You make he laugh and smile all the time.
Try using the robot cookie cutters with a good, stiff gingerbread cookie dough! Then it will hold its shape and the indentations and you should be able to build a cookie robot!
Hello Mister Barry! I believe the problem lies in the variety of cookie dough you used. As delicious as chocolate chip cookie dough is, it isn't a shaping dough because all the butter compared to the lack of flour leads to it spreading out into an oblong circle shape no matter how you try to shape it. I recommend going for a gingerbread recipe, or even a chilled sugar cookie recipe, for best results :) have a wonderful day!
Tip for shaped cookies - don't use drop cookie recipe (ex - chocolate chip). Use a refrigerated cookie recipe (ex - sugar cookie). Then after cutting shapes - put back in the fridge for 15 min and then straight into oven.
Love watching your videos. I'm not in the UK so some things you do are a bit foreign too me. However, when I heard of banoffee pie I set out to learn to make it. I discovered that the caramel/toffee like spread is very easy to make. All you need is a large pot, water, and a can of sweetened condensed milk. Take the label and any glue residue off the can. Put in a large pot and cover with water to about 3 inches above the can. Set on the stove and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to med low/med. The water should be at a good simmer. Cook anywhere from 2-4hrs. The longer, the thicker. Add water as it evaporates think keep the level over the can. After cooking, remove from heat, and remove can from water. Be very careful as the can will be hot. Allow it to cool completely. Opening the can before cool will cause the pressure to release and the hot caramel to go everywhere. This is very dangerous. It will burn your skin. If the caramel/toffee is too thick, thin it out with a bit of milk or cream. Use the sauce as desired. I used it to make the pie and over ice cream and baked apples.
Tea and boiled eggs isn't "a lot of foods". What other things does he hate? Can you list like 10 things, and among those things that are more or less essential to cooking. Like I hate garlic and I am not fond of the other onions either. I'd love a cook book where no onions are mentioned. No garlic, no leeks, no chives, no scallions, no shallots, no... :-D Bad tea does have the slightly burned grass flavor, and overboiled egg yolks are just nasty yellow (or greenish-greyish) dust. And *I* like tea and boiled eggs :-D
@@Ketutar While he may be exaggerating about how many foods Barry dislikes, he does seem to be quite a bit more picky when it comes to food than most chefs. It's just surprising to hear someone who is so passionate about cooking and who has a YT channel with tons of awesome videos dedicated to cooking, to admit that he doesn't like common things like Tea, Hard boiled eggs, Cold cheese (except for Parmesan cheese),ect. (I know there's a few more foods that he has admitted in his video he dislikes, but I can't remember right now) But I admire that he completely honest about it and doesn't just pretend he likes something so he looks more professional or because it's something really popular, to me it's one of his charms and a big reason that I watch his videos. He's just so honest and down to earth and he isn't pretentious or condescending at all, unlike a lot of chefs.
For a person with a cook book out he doesn’t know how many common kitchen gadgets work. Egg cutters have been around for eons, so have turkey basters, basket steamers, what kind of cookie dough you use cookie cutters on etc etc. I love Barry’s vids but a little bit of exploration on google about how the gadgets work would increase his credibility.
Alternatively the coffee cooler could be used to quick chill wine LOL. Also I've used those 3D cookie cutters before and they work best with shortbread cookies, and freeze the dough after you've cut them out before you bake them. Good luck with the next batch Barry!
Damnit Bary! Have you somehow never used a turkey baster? Dripping or not, it wouldn't have been as bad if you'd used the baster like a normal person. Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not angry, I just find it hilarious a professional chef would mess that up.
He does this sort of thing all the time gets basic stuff wrong n it drives me mad Like the time he and Mrs Barry couldn't work out how to cut a mango in half because there's a stone in the middle cut it length ways it's not hard I like him but I wish he would just think about what he's doing
johnotakum I totally agree, like you don't know what a turkey baser is but you call yourself a chef and have multiple cook books, just doesn't make sense
One new sub and one year later...’BASHED ME NUTS!’ Love your channel and binge watching every. single. one! My kids like them too! Thanks for great content and being Decent so that my kids can enjoy as well. Keep on being super genuine and funny!
Hey Barry, absolutely loving the gadget videos (on a phat Barry-thon right now) and thought you might like to know the 18/10 is the amount of chromium/nickel in the stainless steel. Chromium helps keep the rust away, and the nickel does both that and makes it shinier! Got a whole season of the barry-thon left so looking forward to the rest of my night!
I know that this is an older video and someone may have already stated this, but if you run a glass jar that you can't open under hot tap water for about 30 seconds or so it opens quite easily. Works everytime for me.
Aww we can still be friends, Barry. We'll just have to skip dessert, that's all. I'll even eat your cheese and boiled eggs and drink your tea for you. No problem!
Barry! In order to open a jar like you tried, just grab a butter knife and jab it under the lip. It sort of breaks the seal, making it easy to open. You should hear a pop! My mom and I do it all the time, so it's not just something I've heard works, I know it does
The egg slicer is really popular in Sweden and has been for as long as I can remember. We put sliced eggs on buttered bread and squeeze mallets caviar on it. Or put som slices on 'prawn sandwiches' which are highly popular
do you not understand how a pipette works? (the oil for the peanut butter machine, it won't run out if you leave the orange top and squeeze it while having the tip in oil), but fun video :D
My Virgin Kitchen Cookie cutters like that are meant be used with a stiffer dough that doesn't really morph as it bakes. I guess like a sugar cookie dough?
Hey Barry and readers! You mentioned putting a rubber band around the lid of a stuck jar - have another for the jar itself as well to give your other hand a grip! I keep brocolli bands in the cupboard for this exact reason. Also, I've tried those stained eggs (in a way), had tea eggs and they're super tasty!
hey Barry! for the cookies, you might wanna freeze them for about half an hour before you bake them, as this should help them keep their shape better in the oven
And for most of the video, you sported that "Sexy" vegetable sticker on your cheek!! (You're so cheeky!!).... See, only you can say those puns, pull the joke off, and make us all laugh!! Bless your heart Barry! You are the best!!! Keep being "YOU"!!
ehm, barry... I am pretty sure you are supposed to use the peanut butter oil machine thingy like a pipette, that way you should be able to control it. the way you used it it was just a funnel.
For the cookies you used chocolate chip cookie dough that dough spreads during cooking.try using a cookie dough that keeps its shape during cooking like a gingerbread.
why is everyone annoyed at Barry for not doing things the correct/common way? the whole concept of the channel is that he isn't a professional, hence the channel name My VIRGIN kitchen. if you don't like seeing people doing things a different way to how you do, then why are you watching this channel? the entire concept is based on his "special" ways
Because there's a difference between not being a professional and just plain not having common sense. Most of his viewers are probably not professionals either and yet most us do seem to know basic, common sense things. That's all.
most of the video i was distracted with the sticker? on your check ... haha for your robot cookie how about use a diff recipe ... stiffer like the gingerbread house type recipe ...
That moment when you realize your sense of distance is vastly different from other people's: He said he's only 128 miles away from the queen as if that's far and I'm sitting here going, "Huh, that's not far."
I am not a huge fan of hard boiler eggs but I love soft boiled where the eggs are slightly gooey. Bring water to a boil. Add eggs and boil for 8-9 mins. Put them immediately into cold water to cool. I personally don't like my eggs cold so I only leave them in gold water until I can handle them. Remove the shell, cut if desired. I usually half them and add to mute ramen or just sprinkle with sat and eat by itself.
1. When you retest the robot cookie cutter, I suggest sugar cookies and leaving a border of cookie dough around the cutouts so they don't spread as much. (The border will spread but the cut edges won't go as far) 2. The oil thing on the peanut butter machine is a giant pipette. Don't take the orange part off, but instead dip the tip into oil and squeeze like you're using an eyedropper.

My Virgin Kitchen I'm ur son cuz ur my Daddy
My Virgin Kitchen oh my you answered!! I love your videos, I've been watching you for quite a while! ❤ from Argentina 💋
My Virgin Kitchen I have a bar at barathon with my hole family
Today we learn Barry doesn't know how a pippete works
Lol I thought the same
And that alex can't spell.
Lololol
Pipette not pippete
He drives me nuts when he doesn't grab the impossible physic of what he is attempting
Yeah Barry, you know you are going to have to do that last one again, right? That was horrible.

Canadian Bacon also best to cool completely in the fridge before baking to keep the butter as cold as possible.
Canadian Bacon Yea I think it would be best to use some sort of shortbread for the robot so it won't spread out as much.
Exactly what I was going to say, he needs to use sugar cookie dough.
Shoulda let the Mrs. handle that one. Baking queen.
OH! That makes more sense... See in Britian only chocolate chip cookies are called "cookies"... It never occured to me that "Cookie cutters" are actually "Biscuit cutters"...
Wow Barry. That last one, so many mistakes.
Are you not supposed to use that thing from the last one like a pipette, not just pour the oil straight in it and then put the orange bit on. Cause that way the oil would stay in it
Poppy Finn plus he's completely using the wrong oil.
Lily J. Thomas and he is using raw peanuts, not roasted like a normal person would.
That was the funniest gadget test lol. I wonder how many people where screaming the same things at him? Oh Barry..
I kept yelling 'you're supposed to use it like a turkey baster!' Lol.
Poppy Finn I was yelling "use it like an eye dropper Barry!"
I love that you mention some of these can help a disabled person or a person with limitations. You really awesome
Nita F but not a Barry.. I think a responsible adult needs to be present at times. No wonder the pugs look worried.
That sticker on your face is driving me crazy
wow I was surprised to hear someone mention that some of these things we think are lazy/silly are actually useful for those with disabilities
props to you dude
Before this video is had to buy peanut butter like a normie.
Now I have pints of peanut butter
That egg cutter is actually pretty nice. Easy to make equal slices. Atleast easier than by hand.
18/10 actually refers to the stainless steels blend. It's what parts of Nickel and Chromium are mixed into the steel so prevent corrosion.
TheTsubaKun that's really good to know!
TheTsubaKun ive been looking for this comment, so happy somebody know actually knows what 18/10 means
He was being sarcastic.
Barry, the oil dispender for the peanut butter maker is like a turkey baster. Youre not supposed to take off the orange thing silly
Sometimes I srsly wonder if he's that inexperienced or is he just makes the dumbest mistakes for publicity. He'd have to be a great actor cause his confusion seems genuine every time.
please PLEASE RE TEST PEANUT BUTTER MAKER WITH ROASTED NUTS AND CORRECT OIL PLUS USING THE MACHINE CORRECT :) oh and the cookies with mayybe a different dough that keeps shape??
george mua gingerbread mixture might be a good choice.
george mua Bolivia
george mua was boi
That bit with the peanut butter maker had me in tears! The ferocity of the machine as it clicks on, Barry's face and reaction to it, the fact he left the lid on, he atrocity that came out the bottom... Pure (unintended) comedy gold!!! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

Emma Helene Cornstarch works, as well. I made this recipe & they had perfect edges.

28mins of testing kitchen gadgets 😍 perfect way to spend the Sunday night

ALL HAIL SHARN
WHY HELLO THERE FREN
Sharn River yep and roasted not raw peanuts
You aren't supposed to take the balloon-like part off the oil reservoir and fill it up like that!
Squeeze the rubber part THEN dip the end of the plastic container into oil. Then, release the rubber part.
Oil will go find its place by their own.
If you ever decide to re-test the robot cookie cutter, it may be helpful to use a sugar cookie dough rather than chocolate chip, and chill the dough after cutting out the shapes then straight into the oven. Great video as always xx
Have you never used a pipette in your life mate? Points for trying though
What is this madness???
I've boiled eggs for over 20 years and never once had to "pierce the egg" WTF why would you ever need to do that ?
BurntFaceMan there's an airbubble in eggs, which obviously expands while heating it up. That can lead to the egg being cracked while cooking. Doesn't happen all the time, but it can happen. The hole gives the air somewhere to escape
BurntFaceMan whenever I try to pierce them the white comes out whilst cooking
BurntFaceMan i know same
BurntFaceMan
Same i have never pierced my eggs and they never break or crack
i think that technique has something to do with placing eggs into boiling water. If you start your eggs in cold water, piercing shouldn't be necessary.

In the netherlands we have them to every where
Janne Capelle I have them too-and my whole family is vegan just to give perspective
I just love how the sticker of the cabbage stayed on for the majority of the video :D It's a great look for you, Barry!
Jam Brownies it annoyed me so much
I think it's funny when he does. I don't i is why. lol
Jam Brownies it was driving me crazy!
It was driving me so crazy I had to turn it off, actually couldn't bare it.
My OCD is going crazy! I just wanna rip it off 😭😭
barry have you ever used a baster... really retest the peanut butter maker
I would love to see you go to Italy to learn about Parmesan 😍 and you could buy some Italian treats there as well and do another video
+larinschen8 didn't think of that good call
ohhh if you could show us how to make mozzarella!
Yeah, I like the idea of a video about cheese! Maybe you could try some different flavour pairings with other foods and drinks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the 18/10 is the type of steel not the rating that people gave to the product 😂😂😂
It is a type of steel. Faberware which makes stainless steel pans has it on its pans.
I love how excited he is about the egg-slicer ”gadget” here in sweden everyone has one of those, not a gadget at all!
I sneezed like 2 seconds before he said bless you and I straight up thought some how he herd me and said it.... Lmao perfect timing.

So unlike making it the real way (blending peanuts till their natural oils come out), it just makes it into smaller pieces covered in vegetable oil?

Damnit Bary! Have you somehow never used a turkey baster? Dripping or not, it wouldn't have been as bad if you'd used the baster like a normal person. Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not angry, I just find it hilarious a professional chef would mess that up.
johnotakum Re-test
He does this sort of thing all the time gets basic stuff wrong n it drives me mad
Like the time he and Mrs Barry couldn't work out how to cut a mango in half because there's a stone in the middle cut it length ways it's not hard
I like him but I wish he would just think about what he's doing
Hello :3 They don't clear your ear, mate? Where I live we use a smaller version of that thing to put a liquid inside our ear that eats away earwax
johnotakum why not simply call it a pipette and be done with it?
johnotakum I totally agree, like you don't know what a turkey baser is but you call yourself a chef and have multiple cook books, just doesn't make sense
It's the texture of boiled eggs that I hate, I love scrambled and fried, but not boiled
For a cook you sure have an impressive range of food I like that you hate.
Also, RIP wide lens.
One new sub and one year later...’BASHED ME NUTS!’
Love your channel and binge watching every. single.
My mom and I do it all the time, so it's not just something I've heard works, I know it does
The last gadget should not have the red cover on the opening for the nut butter to come out. It comes out much smoother without the lid.
I used to have a similar egg cutter, but with just the straight part. The idea though, was to turn it 90° after using it once. Amazing.
Sometimes I think he's slow while I watch these videos, but I'm hooked
he's absolutely the Forrest Gump of cooking UA-camrs
hey Barry! for the cookies, you might wanna freeze them for about half an hour before you bake them, as this should help them keep their shape better in the oven
Barry i was goinv to buy your book but I love egg in my salad
"The heck was this supposed to be? Ah no that was the queen, ya donkey" my fave quote from you so far lol
When a salad is happy, it has a *saladbration*
🥗
saaaaa-lad-bread good times, come on....
We need these gadget videos once a week!
the peanut butter maker......you should use roasted nuts, the oil dispenser you use like an eye dropper not take off the rubber balloon.
Bank holiday weekend and a kitchen gadget video. Perfect.
18/10 is the quality of the stainless steel
We do love Barry “user error” Lewis and his clumsiness 😂
Make some 3D MVK branded pug cookie cutters
+nerdygirl10111 love that
And for most of the video, you sported that "Sexy" vegetable sticker on your cheek!! (You're so cheeky!!).... See, only you can say those puns, pull the joke off, and make us all laugh!! Bless your heart Barry! You are the best!!! Keep being "YOU"!!
You should have filled the oil thing on the nut butter maker like a pipet instead of taking the top off
I love that u dont like cucumbers but u keep trying them anyway. Good job Barry
ehm, barry...
I am pretty sure you are supposed to use the peanut butter oil machine thingy like a pipette, that way you should be able to control it. the way you used it it was just a funnel.
Your facial expressions during the making of the nut butter...priceless!
You should've made the cookies with sugar cookies 🙄 the kind that doesn't change it shape in the oven
Rosa Aziz sometimes he gives negative reviews to gadgets that would otherwise be great reviews, had he only used the product properly.
Because there's a difference between not being a professional and just plain not having common sense. Most of his viewers are probably not professionals either and yet most us do seem to know basic, common sense things. That's all.
Are egg cutters like that rare or abnormal around the world?
Its very normal thing in Norway.
It's common in germany too.
use the oil the as an eye dropper you shouldnt of taken the orange bit off
I have never laughed so hard at a kitchen gadget video before. This was excellent.
most of the video i was distracted with the sticker? on your check ... haha
for your robot cookie how about use a diff recipe ... stiffer like the gingerbread house type recipe ...
Ruth Miser *cheek
Haha one example of why I'm not good at English even though it is my first language! haha I think faster than I type! ^.^
I use my silicone baking liner to open tough jars. Works like a charm.
I don't even think I've ever been this early. Lol
flyingcabbit same
flyingcabbit i
That moment when you realize your sense of distance is vastly different from other people's: He said he's only 128 miles away from the queen as if that's far and I'm sitting here going, "Huh, that's not far."
Try gingerbread cookies they hold their shape better.
Cashew . . . Bless you. 😂😂😂
The puns crack me up!
I love your videos, Barry, but I don't know if I can trust the recipes of a chef who can't grasp the concept of a turkey baster/pipette 😅
I have honestly never seen Barry showing this much incompetence ever before....
1. When you retest the robot cookie cutter, I suggest sugar cookies and leaving a border of cookie dough around the cutouts so they don't spread as much. (The border will spread but the cut edges won't go as far)
2. The oil thing on the peanut butter machine is a giant pipette. Don't take the orange part off, but instead dip the tip into oil and squeeze like you're using an eyedropper.
