Sweeet . I’m finally getting into this and finally took a college DAW class. Just so you understand ( I didn’t for years ) those chord diagrams in the books are giving you a general chord diagram. The actual Key of the song and the singing is going to really determine how the pattern works
Meaning learn modes and scales if you really want to play those songs or else you end up with sloppy type beginners strummy guitar chords with notes that don’t belong . Some songs ..say they give you a G chord but if you really listen to, there is a note like the high G should be instead D next to it on guitar but the diagram says do it however if you listen closely you don’t even sing that note much there …G is already holding the bass side of the chord and there is an open string G in the chord so high b maybe but many times the melody calls for the high D accented there . Most guitarists can easily make this modes mistake . The Artiphon possibly corrects your modes with the right chords . Some songs are more obvious than others. Like a blues song guitar chord diagram is going to show a normal G chord but you are in the actual key of C so the G would be form of a G7 ,Gm or Gm7 and not the same relationship to the D or Am exactly as it would be in the Key of G -so close it can mess you up sometimes but ..anyway most DAW programs correct it for you . Otherwise you get the Autoharp Effect ..somefin wonky 😂✌🏻good video

Ich kann nicht wirklich empfehlen, das Gerät bei Gear4music zu kaufen: Das Artiphon Instrument 1 war bereits nach kurzer Zeit kaputt. Dann Rücksendung, nach vollen zwei Monaten (!!!!) immer noch keine Meldung!!!! Dann meinerseits versuchter Rücktritt vom Vertrag, aber man bestand auf dieser Klausel: »Sollte das Produkt nicht innerhalb von 60 Tagen repariert werden können, dann wird ein Ersatzprodukt geliefert, welches nicht älter ist und sich in keinem schlechterem Zustand befindet als das ursprüngliche zurückgegebene Produkt.« Also mal eben zwei Monate auf sein Gerät verzichten, keine Rückerstattung und dann eventuell noch nicht einmal ein Neugerät als Ersatz! Ein solches Gebaren einem neuen Kunden gegenüber ist wirklich unterirdisch und das habe ich auch noch nicht erlebt. Ob es überhaupt rechtens ist und eine solche Bearbeitungszeit überhaupt noch zumutbar, gälte es auch noch abzuklären, wenn ich nun noch Nerven für einen Rechtsstreit hätte. Nach etlichen weiteren Anstrengungen habe ich dann mein Geld doch noch zurückbekommen. Mühsam!

Hi Sarah, I’m considering getting one of these, due in no small part to your enthusiasm in this review. I’m curious, now that you’ve had the Instrument 1 for about a year, do you still feel the same way about it and is it still a big part of your music production process? Also, since the product has been out for a couple of years, have you heard if there is going to be a newer version?
I love it. I don’t use it as much cause I don’t like carrying it around or I’m trying it learn how to use chords on a keyboard more but I love it. It’s worth having.

+Zeke Lopez its a Midi keyboard. It pretty much works with anything that can read midi. Check their website to see if they have any information about it. You can directly reach out to their support and they are really nice.

Is it a usb host device? Or in other words: Can I directly connect it to my hardware synth or does this only work with VSTs?

Just a word to say you can use the device to control your midi hardware without a computer or an iOS device. What you need is a USB host to midi din converter. There are quite a few on the market, even on eBay. Something like m.ua-cam.com/video/MuzS-whs8uQ/v-deo.html Btw could you do something on setting up, or customising the I1?

When recording a guitar track in a DAW like ableton, does it record all of the individual notes? So I can switch vsti's and the same sound/notes/chords will play back? I've read somewhere it doesn't.
It will most definitely do that. I use logic and was surprised at its fidelity at recognizing individual notes. Even performing a guitar style slide will lay down every note in the piano roll with its associated velocity, pressure, and sustain.

@@darkandus Yes I know the reply is late. But the reason it works so well with individual notes and slides and things like that is because there's no "pitch to MIDI" conversion, which is what you'd do if you wanted to turn a real, actual physical guitar into a (perhaps pseudo) MIDI controller. This Artiphon device is a true MIDI controller though, in that it generates the MIDI directly from the physical strumming force and the fretting action, not from the vibration of a string. Just like how a MIDI keyboard generates the MIDI notes directly from the physical gesture of pressing the keys, not from the vibration of a string like with an actual acoustic piano.
Just thought I'd add my thoughts. I've lately been a bit fascinated with the idea of a guitar MIDI controller, but the whole "pitch to MIDI" thing, in my mind at least, is not a genuine MIDI controller, but rather an inherently analog instrument that makes its sound directly from string vibrations trying to be turned into a digital instrument. True, genuine MIDI controllers are digital, by there very nature. And let's not forget that pitch to MIDI conversion always suffer from some amount of latency, even if you have the fastest computer in the world with the most incredible audio interface; latency is inherent when converting the pitch produced by a vibrating string into a MIDI note. It would be like trying to take the sound of a person singing and trying to convert the notes into MIDI! :)
