I came in to this looking for a device that mimics a guitar to put down MIDI notes and he played it like a keyboard so I don't know if it worked on me lol. Not saying he used it wrong though
Hell yeah it can. I actually found a preset for Serum that perfectly replicates the synth that's featured heavily in the Bladerunner 2049 soundtrack. That synth would be magical when played on this thing.
Not enough people are commenting about your finely tuned wit. I enjoy laughing at your subtle comedy as much as listening to the sounds you produce. They entertain in perfect harmony!
1:48 Sounds very Bladerunner esque - I love it. Your ability to create music is one of the most natural I have ever heard, and I re-iterate I wish I had half as much ability. I always find inspiration here to write the next thing. Thanks.
I just bought mine and I'm waiting for it to arrive, your video just motivated me to try a lot of new things once the instrument 1 is in my hands. Thanks a lot!
Major Blade Runner vibes here. This thing is amazing! I feel like I need a stream of you playing melodic tones on this for hours that I can just zone out to
Graeme Cook seriously gave me goosebumps. I absolutely love the slow as hell barely melodic space out tones like that. The original Blade Runner score is one of my all time favorites but the new one is right up there because of its slowness and general spacey ambient feel
Very cool that you got one of these. This company is based right down the road from me and I've been to their offices and they are very decent fellows. They allowed me to borrow one for a while (which I need to find time to bring back) and I found it to be a very engaging interface. It helps find new sounds and happy accidents rather freely. You do a great job of demoing it here. P.S. the scuba divers got me. LOL
Red Desk Means Reviewing 👍 Serious chills from what the noises being made. Awesome device. If you do decide to play it all day, just record and upload it thanks!
So glad I subbed to you. You have an amazing sense of humor and really inspire a creative side to life. Oh and on the scubadiving sequence I totally wanted to fall asleep *so peaceful*
I finally stopped buying gear because I’m a guitarist and bass player who loves synths and I have enough. I wasn’t buying any new midi controllers, then you demo this. If there was ever a piece of gear that could infuse my guitar playing ability with the lush sounds and capabilities of a synthesizer it’s this controller. Wow. This is fantastic. Thanks Jeremy for enriching my life. Have a merry Xmas.
Speaking of Broadchurch, Olafur Arnalds made that soundtrack, makes some pretty amazing music. He also goes by the name of "Kiasmos" for his more electronic based music. Also, sweet video/controller!
the best part about the way the you go about sponsored content, is that I can still just listen to your music in the background if i dont feel like engaging with the review itself. You manage to make it still about the music more than the gear.
In love with this video. Can't get those melodies out of my head. And the added visuals are the cherry on top. You're doing phenomenally great at what you do.
5:30 -> is like the perfect answer to the question of "What kind of ambient do you love the most?" The noises you can make this thing do are beautiful.
i learn so much from watching your videos, like the way you stacked the chimes with the strings and then added that beautiful reverb. very educational watching you work my friend, thank you for this !
I looked down for a second while hearing it and when I looked back it was written David Tenant is the best, I don't know the context and how we got there so fast but it made me laugh.
"Hallo, my name is Jeremy and I'm gonna effortlessly summon the spirit of Vangelis from his body while he's sleeping so I can use it to just fsck around showing off a new weird instrument." WHAT THE FSCK?!??!
Holy shit how do you do it!! Honestly I love your channel I love your music! I love everything about this! I can literally listen to it all day! I can’t wait till you blow up cause you definitely will!! Best of luck to you!!
I just want to say, with all the 2017 lists coming out around now, I made my own. Red Means Recording was my top music discovery of 2017. Thank you very much for sharing your music and creative process!
I love your videos. as someone who is learning how to produce, watching you learn as you create in every video is genuinely inspiring. I come here to learn, when I feel sad, and when I see you have a new toy. Thanks for doing this and please don't ever stop being awesome.
For the record don't know much about music except that I can listen to it. I understood about half of what you said/wrote, but by God it's just amazing handling of such instrument. The best part is that you really know how to use it and explained very well what you where doing. Thank you!
I just started getting into making beats and music and I came across your videos and this one is by far a favorite so far. These sounds and melodys are mesmerizing to me your an amazing artist
Jeremy, you're amazing! You can play literally on everything! Try to play on a broom next time - I bet it would be fantastic! Wonderful melodies, great videos! Cheers!
Okay, the guitar part has me interested. Mostly because of how hard plucked is to do on midi. Have you had the chance to use the ROLI Seaboard? If so, how's it stack up compared to the Artiphon?
And now, four years after your comment, this video and the two of him playing the ROLI Seaboard are among his most watched videos. Seams fitting as all three are my favorites of his
I was in a state of verisimilitude, my subconscious expecting to see that after the intro, you had actually performed the intro on this thingy. Then you JeanClaude Van Damme’d me with a round house kick just outside my peripheral. You sir, are a delight.
Another awesome video I love these Midi controllers especially with the heavy synth modes the futuristic sounds are amazing, really reminds me of the Bladerunner 2049 soundtrack
You are an amazing musician. Thanks for sharing this demo. Did you already know how to play guitar? I'm wondering how hard it would be to learn to put this to use.
I've been subscribed to you forever but for some reason only just now decided to watch one of your many videos. It was awesome!! Why didn't I do this earlier! Thank you : ) this video was surprisingly inspiring
That was utterly delightful to watch :D borrowing one of these from a friend and have been rather at a loss as to how to dink around on it - thanks for some great (and hilarious) inspiration!
Ok, yes, thank you, I get it: Broadchurch wasn't made by the BBC. No need to keep reminding me. Thanks. Love you.
Red Means Recording Also BBC is not cable. :P
Red Means Recording but Doctor Who was, which stared David Tennant, which is close enough, and is eternally awesome.
...but Matt Smith was better. I don't like David Tennant.
Looks like a great EDM tool.
Actually Tennant is the best.
PSA to all cool musical instrument companies: Get this man your product if you want to sell more and have it presented in an awesome way!
@Golden Knight he just took it out of the box guy, will you give him a fuken break.
I legitimately thought this was an advertisement for the first minute or so lol. Great vid
@Golden Knight he's smarter and better than you in every way. Call him daddy and then shine his shoes. You lose.
I came in to this looking for a device that mimics a guitar to put down MIDI notes and he played it like a keyboard so I don't know if it worked on me lol. Not saying he used it wrong though
I love this. You're one of the few people who can make a product demo video this interesting and entertaining.
watch idubbbz
papa bless btw
Yeah official product demos are so cringey
Akira and Blade Runner on one midi input. I’m in love
Was about to say he could make a new blade runner soundtrack with this.
That thing can create some serious Blade Runner vibes.
That's a good thing by the way.
Thought the same thing on the first note played!
I was thinking the EXACT same thing
I fucking love Blade Runner
Yeah blade runner is the exact thing that came to mind for me also
Hell yeah it can.
Let's not forget his perfect speling
Well, I guess I know what I’m buying next. Already forced me to buy the OP-1, now this. Super cool instrument, especially as a guitarist.
+Crafted Workshop 👏🔊👏
Don’t worry. I bought my OP-1 because of [I NEED YOU]
It’s not an instrument, it makes no sound.
David Watkins cry more
1:48 Sounds very Bladerunner esque - I love it. Your ability to create music is one of the most natural I have ever heard, and I re-iterate I wish I had half as much ability. I always find inspiration here to write the next thing. Thanks.
Damn I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that. More of that!
I just bought mine and I'm waiting for it to arrive, your video just motivated me to try a lot of new things once the instrument 1 is in my hands. Thanks a lot!
6:02 blade runner 1 ending so beautiful "all those moments lost like tears in the rain... time to die"
Major Blade Runner vibes here. This thing is amazing! I feel like I need a stream of you playing melodic tones on this for hours that I can just zone out to
darklight5280 right that first part was awesome
Graeme Cook seriously gave me goosebumps. I absolutely love the slow as hell barely melodic space out tones like that. The original Blade Runner score is one of my all time favorites but the new one is right up there because of its slowness and general spacey ambient feel
Yes yes yes, I though the same and was about to comment that, that sounded like Vangelis going full Blade Runner.
darklight5280 that’s the first thing I thought!!!
Came here to say exactly this. Blade runner sound track vibes for sure.
Very cool that you got one of these. This company is based right down the road from me and I've been to their offices and they are very decent fellows. They allowed me to borrow one for a while (which I need to find time to bring back) and I found it to be a very engaging interface. It helps find new sounds and happy accidents rather freely. P.S. the scuba divers got me. LOL
Lovely modular setup.
And a good way to introduce yourself to the BBC :-)
Hmmmmm
Red Desk Means Reviewing 👍
Serious chills from what the noises being made. Awesome device. If you do decide to play it all day, just record and upload it thanks!
So glad I subbed to you. You have an amazing sense of humor and really inspire a creative side to life. Oh and on the scubadiving sequence I totally wanted to fall asleep *so peaceful*
1:50 this should definitely be the music for a new post modern sci fi action drama movie coming this spring to theaters near you
It’s amazing how much you can convey about something without actually talking, I reckon you’d be a great teacher
This is the best product demo video I have ever seen. Good job. The underwater part was actually very relaxing. Ahhhhh...
GET THIS MAN TO DO BLADE RUNNER 3!!
I finally stopped buying gear because I’m a guitarist and bass player who loves synths and I have enough. I wasn’t buying any new midi controllers, then you demo this. Olafur Arnalds is absolutely amazing.
him and Nils Frahm are the best
the best part about the way the you go about sponsored content, is that I can still just listen to your music in the background if i dont feel like engaging with the review itself. You manage to make it still about the music more than the gear.
Beautiful cinematography!
I love watching your channel and seeing all the cool things my wife would never let me spend money on.
In love with this video. Can't get those melodies out of my head. And the added visuals are the cherry on top. You're doing phenomenally great at what you do.
Finally getting one after 5 years! Excited for this (and the chorda)
Time... To die
I love it, it sounds like a Vangelis sound
The spirit of Vangelis has awoken at 1:57.
5:30 -> is like the perfect answer to the question of "What kind of ambient do you love the most?" The noises you can make this thing do are beautiful.
Your hands come with the instrument, right?
i learn so much from watching your videos, like the way you stacked the chimes with the strings and then added that beautiful reverb. very educational watching you work my friend, thank you for this !
the way this video was edited is magical
The guys from Artiphon can be very proud of you
GREAT demo! fantastic sounds
I looked down for a second while hearing it and when I looked back it was written David Tenant is the best, I don't know the context and how we got there so fast but it made me laugh.
I could listen to that ambient stuff all day, genuinely relaxing.
Red means let's try a different mode
Never in my life has my path been so clearly laid before me. I just bought one. Now to master it and make beautiful music. Thanks Jeremy!
"Hallo, my name is Jeremy and I'm gonna effortlessly summon the spirit of Vangelis from his body while he's sleeping so I can use it to just fsck around showing off a new weird instrument."
WHAT THE FSCK?!??!
One of the most engaging demos I have ever seen by a country mile. subscribed!
+Miles Harris 🔊🔊🙌👏🙌
Superr coool!!! I love!! Thank you for showing this incroyable MIDI controller
My god so beautiful, so stunning, so breathe taking. The cinematography is so fine. I want to buy this now after watching this demo.
Holy shit how do you do it!! Honestly I love your channel I love your music! I love everything about this! I can literally listen to it all day! I can’t wait till you blow up cause you definitely will!! Best of luck to you!!
I could quite happily listen to you play an hour to 10 hours worth of just ambient feel-playing, you do you, and I'd groove into a peaceful dream.
Polyphonic after touch, dang. Loved the homage to misplayed covers of Leonard Cohen's hallellujah.
thinking about doing an actual full cover of it if i can do it justice.
I just want to say, with all the 2017 lists coming out around now, I made my own. Red Means Recording was my top music discovery of 2017. Thank you very much for sharing your music and creative process!
Looks so cool !!! The artiphon are amazing !!!
I just got an Instrument 1. Thanks so much for showing us the endless possibilities! Awesome demo!
When you said David tenant was the best I immediately liked the vid
EXCELLENT
Hands down the best demonstration of the Artiphon Instrument1 AND you're a Jeremy who loves making music. All boxes ticked!
1:05 I like that beard.
and also: HE EXISTS!
finally I can sleep calm again.
do not worry fox friend i am not going anywhere
Undoubtedly the best demonstration of the Artiphon Instrument 1 out there 🔥🙏
Hey, you keep making such god damn excellent content and I WILL HAVE TO tell all my friends about your channel.
You’ve been warned.
Butch Knight because I am a nasty man
I love your videos. as someone who is learning how to produce, watching you learn as you create in every video is genuinely inspiring. I come here to learn, when I feel sad, and when I see you have a new toy. Thanks for doing this and please don't ever stop being awesome.
"How would you describe this instruments membrane?"
*S M O O T H*
Your an inspiration! Seriously. Ive never wanted to learn to do this more than when I watch your videos. This is pretty amazing
Ah, this was beautiful and fun.
For the record don't know much about music except that I can listen to it. I understood about half of what you said/wrote, but by God it's just amazing handling of such instrument. The best part is that you really know how to use it and explained very well what you where doing. Thank you!
Wasn’t even tired this made me take a 2 hour nap :)
excellent presentation. informative - check. illustrative - check. humor - check. learned something new - check. fun - check. entertaining - check. think I could spend hours, days, weeks or months entertaining myself with this instrument.
How come almost everything you play sound like it could be in the planet earth documentary???
Ian Larsen Dense amounts of delay and reverb
Yeah
You show what can be done with this instrument in the hands of a very skilled musician. Nicely done!
LFO midi one is pretty clever thanks!
Deep sea diving and heavenly clouds were an excellent touch. Great video keep up the fantastic work!
LMAO at Am I Peter Gabriel yet
This is what Storm Troopers jam with....
This was one of the most fantastic videos I watched on youtube. Thank you.
What sort of OP-1 is this? Is there a cow on it somewhere?
it's the op-2
I just started getting into making beats and music and I came across your videos and this one is by far a favorite so far. These sounds and melodys are mesmerizing to me your an amazing artist
This was awesome and funny! I love your channel!
LOVED this video. Excellent presentation style - and very informative. Thanks man 👍👌
Jeremy, you're amazing! You can play literally on everything! Try to play on a broom next time - I bet it would be fantastic! Wonderful melodies, great videos! Cheers!
+Iliya Stebnyov thanks!
Best example in this video: with delay and reverb everything sounds nice :) Interesting Midi Controller that is!
#BestVideoInTheWorld this is the best video in the entire world I'm serious. Dude you should make music for movies.
I also have an Artiphon! It is endless in how you van play this amazing instrument. Great demonstration 👍
Dude, you could give Hans Zimmer a run for his money! 5:30 had me in another world!
Yeah serious Blade Runner feels ..
I dont know. Hans Zimmer and Interstellar is just a whole other level for me.
The first mode made me instantly think about the score from The Book of Eli. Now I need to go watch that movie and listen to the score again, so good.
Okay, the guitar part has me interested. Mostly because of how hard plucked is to do on midi. Have you had the chance to use the ROLI Seaboard? If so, how's it stack up compared to the Artiphon?

You sir, are a delight.
5:50 does that remind anyone else of the music going on during an aquarium tour or a planetarium?
Beautiful music. Man, you're a genius placing the right images to according to music!
If you're into it I'd love to see what you could do with that lofi piano
I've watched this several times already. Thank you for sharing your wonderful music
I relate to the text in an emotional level
Another awesome video I love these Midi controllers especially with the heavy synth modes the futuristic sounds are amazing, really reminds me of the Bladerunner 2049 soundtrack
Interlinked
Cells
Brilliant video! Now I need THIS and an OP-Z to give me a full musical life!
You are an amazing musician. Thanks for sharing this demo. Did you already know how to play guitar? I'm wondering how hard it would be to learn to put this to use.
i play guitar very badly. enough to record it, not well enough to ever really play guitar solo.
The beginning of the demo was super reminiscent of hyper light drifter and I loved it
Lovely socks, Tennant rocks. Instrument 1 is looking cool, you're just like Peter Gabriel
carl Linsdell Peter Gabriel is not for comparison to others.
Was kind of reminding me of the beginning part to "Mercy Street." That quiet, happy sounding part in the beginning before the song really starts
All of those modes sound beautiful!
LETS TRY A DIFFERENT MODE
I've been subscribed to you forever but for some reason only just now decided to watch one of your many videos. It was awesome!! Why didn't I do this earlier! Thank you : ) this video was surprisingly inspiring
Is there any way to play HW synths with this?
11:25 No one is complaining.
yes there is. you need to put the midi through something that can send it to the hardware synth. computer, interface, whatever.
I tried using a usb/midi hub (OP-lab) and could not get it to work. :/
Try this:
www.hobbytronics.co.uk/usb-midi-converter
Yonga Sun Thanks for the link. Now to buy the stuff.
That was utterly delightful to watch :D borrowing one of these from a friend and have been rather at a loss as to how to dink around on it - thanks for some great (and hilarious) inspiration!
Can I have a Red Means Record heart, too? For the holidays. Plus, you're great.
The vidya skills are increasing much so. Keep it coming, we are all expecting greatness.
Vangelis is that you?
HOLY MOLY as always you made a wonderful video, even David Tennant! Big thumb up from your big italian fan!
+Peeping Tom ♥️♥️🙌
Reminds me of a Folktek Modified Omnichord
I love your Videos ❤. They calm me down in this stressful life.
yeah, but does it djent?
You are incredible... You can get amazing sounds from every machine in your hands!
And....they are going to call you for next Interestellar movies
