I'm very surprised to hear about the fact that sweeteners do not raise insulin levels. I thought it had been demonstrated that just the taste of sweet was enough for the brains to signal the arrival of sugar and release of insulin. Other papers suggest that the smell or the sight of sweets can even do that.
@@daviddad1234,this is not a matter of agreeing or not. Whether or not they provoke an insulin release is a matter of fact. And, according to the science, apparently they don't.
I used to teach medical students the introduction to clinical medicine (ICM) class. I was surprised that the School of Medicine curriculum did not include the appropriate protocol for teaching how to measure blood pressure. Furthermore, it is uncommon to see the correct procedure in primary care. The question is, how many people are taking antihypertensive medications despite having the erroneous diagnosis.
I grow my own stevia plants, dry it naturally, and then use it. Would this be called processed food? I am generally a totally natural person, growing my own herbs for cooking and medicinal uses. It is hard for me to accept that this would be unhealthy. Would stevia used this way be healthier than the stevia extract? How about if I make my own tincture of stevia?
@@Herblady it is ultra-processed that you stay away from. Processed is not always bad. For example you process beef fat to make tallow or process milk to churn butter.
Did you know Xylitol, which is toxic to dogs, is made from birch bark or corn and is technically an "all-natural" sweetener! Some brands of peanut butter contain xylitol.
Dr. Brewer, I don't want you to get "in trouble" with the UA-cam police - BUT - I need the truth as you understand the truth to be. Bless you for this channel/videos!
Raw cane sugar? Raw cane sugar contains less calories than regular sugar. It has a glycemic index (GI) of 58-65. In comparison, granulated sugar has a GI of 70. Raw cane sugar contains far more natural nutrients like vitamins or minerals.
Great video, very informative. I would love to watch a video comparing the impact of natural sweeteners such as monk fruit, with sweeteners they put in drinks such as sucralose.
I threw out xylitol I had after reading the recent article on it. It’s ok even if the study is weak because anything sweet causes me to crave more things sweet.
Its funny I was just talking about this to my daughter who's blood sugar isn't great for being 24 years old. I asked her to at least get off the sugary drinks..soda and what not. She said she's hear the artificial sweetners are worse! (I'm sure the sugar barons play no part in this!). I personally use alluloose in my morning tea/coffee. It's not very sweet though really but I'm fine with that. Actually now when I have something that has full sweetner in it like diet soda it tastes way to sweet. I think one has to almost wean off the sweet. The allulos didn'ts seem to effect glucose though from looking at my cgm
Another easy way to accelerate high intensity exercise is using the X3 Bar system, especially if you add the vibrating plate. Do it at home... Just read up about it.
Though I favor Carnivore I've added fermented foods, per Dr Sean O'Mara, and I like Zevia sodas sweetened with Stevia. I see no fluctuation or impact on the CGM.
Thanks for asking. We have been unable to transition in Medicare Advantage. & traditional Medicare has been what we expected - a financial disaster; we’ve been seeing a lot patients at our own cost due to Medicare red tape.

Hey docs I normally have about 3/4 of tspn of erthyritol in my cup of coffee 5x a week, would you say that’s an acceptable amount if there is no bloating or upset stomach?

Stevia is not any more a chemical than any other plant food. I have no issue with it and neither does my blood glucose

I agree with you. The sweetness of artificial sweeteners how can your brain not release insulin. Hence I do no sugar or artificial sweeteners.
Chemical sweeteners nor sugar goes in my mouth.

How many Doctors don't know the proper procedure to take an accurate Blood Pressure reading?

As a Clinical Pharmacist, I can also say the majority do NOT know the correct procedure either.

Yes fructose is more glycating but I never heard that it doesn't cause insulin spike.
Yes. It does. But half the spike you get with glucose.
Xylitol is used in nasal rinses as well

So who paid for the CNN report? I am sure that the sugar industry has something to do with it.
Yep. Actually, with only 10 patients, it didn’t cost much. & it wasn’t worth much, either. So many people want to prove that these are a real threat.
What do preservatives do to gut bacteria? Is there any research on this?
I just tried a SWEET & LOW the other day. It tasted so 'chemical'. I didn't swallow. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
