  • I start with a Scaler chord progression and create a sketching idea in RapidComposer and finish by adding some Sonokinetic phrases.

    This one made a lot more sense... I got RC running in standalone mode quite well and am going through the various generators and learning more about the app overall. These videos are incredibly helpful. The biggest problem with RC is that it does not use the drop down menus as most all other software does... hence it takes a bit of running around to figure out some real basics, but overall, once you realize that, it's a LOT easier to use. Cheers!!

    This video was particularly good as it did not only show the massive template you have set up for yourself, but also showed a start to fnish, from simple MIDI notes to epicness.
    Thank you very much!

    I have had Rapidcomposer for years and never really played with the Note Editing mode. I would always go into the phrase editor mode and would always get frustrated that when you'd manually change notes it would stop being a generator. Now that I know about this note editing mode and that it keeps the generator parameters intact I think I will use Rapidcomposer much more than I have been. I turned a generated melody into something I really liked in about 2 minutes thanks to this video. Thank you!

    Great as ever! Very helpful and informative. Without your tutorials, I"m sure I would be completely out of my depth!! Thank you for taking the time. Best regards to you.

    I've always loved the practically limitless potential of this software but never understood the basics of using it until now thanks to your brilliant videos. Bravo sir, you have reignited my passion for composition and experimentation. Superman reads '41 Fingers' comics.

    I'm appreciating your technical focus at my current stage of learning this software. A lot to learn and you are making it much easier! Having a couple of Sonokinetic libraries I look forward to trying it out with them. To simplify my thoughts on the video "Mechanics first, aesthetics later - perfect. Thank you."

    How can I address each track of RC to play a different instrument plug-in inside Ableton Live? I tried but I couldn't =/

    at 8:30 you changed phrase chords to single bar length. Is it possible to change the rhythm pattern for multiple phrases at the same time? When I try to do that, it tells me to select a single phrase.

    Thx for this tutorial! While trying to follow along some questions arose, maybe simple ones, cause I am starting out: In my RC the note names are not sown, when I drag in the chords. I cannot find a setting for this. And concerning instruments You speak about good and free VST (?) libraries. Which one would You recommend?

    great tutorial, thank you! I have a question though, when i drag a generator to a track, it changes what generates every bar, instead of following the same rhythm as the previous bar,, i noticed in your video when you dragged out the staccato generator it applied the same rhythm across each chord. is this a setting somewhere im missing?

    • @41Fingers
      @41Fingers  2 роки тому

      interesting, it should be the same for every bar by default i think. if I get a chance later today I will have a look

      @@shinyisshiny7780 well I am looking at it now. when you drag in a repeating generator like the staccato generator it will populated the measures with a repeating pattern adjusted to the main chords, some generators like melody populate as a unique line of notes. If you want the exact same pattern for every measure copy and paste and have the track not affected by chords or voice leading. You can also drag in discreet notes from other sources. There are ways to have all the measures with the same pattern.

    Thanks 😊
    This time you did not use the MAGNET AND LOCK ICONS ....
    Yest it was sounding as per the master track....
    Why it wasn't required

    One correction is needed here in an otherwise terrific tutorial: The number of phrases generated by the chord generator is not random. At the top of the generators column you will note that in this video it is set to 4 bars. So for a 9 bar musical segment like this you will get 4 bars + 4 bars + 1 bar. In this case, if you set the bars to 9 you will get one long 9-bar phrase. You can also set the bars to 1, in which case in this tutorial each chord change is a phrase you could deal with separately. All up to you.

    • @41Fingers
      @41Fingers  2 роки тому

      well thanks for bringing that up as you can put in the number of bars but I find that there are also other factors involved as when Its set to 4 bar I don't always get 4 bars.

    • @larrygj4764

      @@41Fingers Wow, so there must be some randomness involved, after all. Or a bug...
