- I tried Trifecta Nutrition - a meal delivery service focused on healthy "macro-balanced" meals. There was a lot I didn't like about it....but would I still recommend it?

As a chef I have a few tips for you when it comes to reheating meal prepped foods.
- I see you have a nonstick pan, which is good, but you need to add a bit of oil. As you can see a lot of the chicken and beans are still sticking to the pan, that’s because the heat isn’t actually transferring properly without oil so you’re essentially burning the outside of your food. This can lead to dry chicken, flavorless beans, and wilted vegetables. Just remember to heat the pan+oil first before adding the food.
-Make sure to reheat your food at the lowest possible setting. Remember, the food is already cooked, you just want to warm it up. Re-cooking will have the same effect as above.
-You want to add a lid and a bit of water to your pan to help steam the food and keep it moist. Again, you want to cook the food as little as possible while still warming it up, and steam is a great way to quickly and evenly heat up your food before it dries out.
Hope this helps your meal plans keep a little bit more flavor as you heat them! Cheers
Thanks for watching and the suggestions! 😊
Thank you for trying so that my wallet is not crying! The honest reviews are much appreciated! Wishing you peace, prosperity and excellent health!
I have been eating their keto meals for a year and lost 120 Lbs. their food taste like hospital food so I always use my own seasoning to make it flavorful. It takes a while to get use to it. Now I enjoy it on daily basis. Sometimes I order exotic meat like bison, elk and venison and make my own spicy 🌶 dishes. You have to try different ways other wise you can’t eat same thing every day. Now I love that plant based chicken it’s really very good 👍🏼🌶🌶🌶🥒🥒🥒🥒🥬🥬🥬🥦🥦🥑🍆🍆🍆🌽🌽🌽🌽
How is there payment like how much did u have to pay for it.
I know im late as hell but damn... 120??! Congrats
If you're getting 7 dinners a week on their $110.99 plan, plus $9.99 shipping, you're paying $17.28 per meal. Now if you look at 2 of these meals, does it look like $34.56 worth of food? Does it look like more food than you would get in a restaurant for that price? I know for me personally, the answer to both is no.
I'm glad that your reviewing these meals before me before I try them cause I was thinking of it
What would you use to ship food around the country ?
Thanks for the honest review. I guess I’ll stick to eating my own bland food and save money 😂.
I am eating 4 Trifecta meals everyday to bulk up. Each meal is close to 300 calories and with 4 meals I get 1200 calories. I could get the same from a Chipotle bowl but Chipotle is for poor people. I have recently sold my car and guess what I bought from that money. I walk a lot more now thanks to Trifecta. Chewing on that big piece of tofu gives me my perfect jawline. Highly recommend.
I had a terrible experience with this company. I don't really see anywhere to give an honest review as they only allow for "testimonials" aka positive reviews on their site. The food was fine, but I had to contact customer service numerous times. The first rep was rude and confused by common sense questions. The second rep was nice enough to try to fix the mistake they made and then made another one for the following week. The third rep basically said "sorry I'd love to make it right but also I went ahead and cancelled your service for you because I'm actually not interested in making it right". This company is not reliable and not worth the price.
Oh no! Sorry to hear you had a bad experience
@Becs Future Trifecta customers would prefer to just be right. Like most companies do with there Returning customers. Wow this is by far way out of line. Even more so on a public forum. Maybe leave contact info so if the customer wishes to hear a book size excuse she can do so privately and not PUBLICLY word for word.
Give us a try for salads, Lauren!
Thinking about trying this out thanks for the review 👍
Glad it was helpful 😊
Was cancelling difficult?
You had me laughing with the pretend of the air fryer
😅
Thank you for your honest review. It helped me save time and money.
I'm not sure why so many people have negative comments for this review, I definitely learned from this review.
I will say I have an extremely limited food prep service selection up here in Northern Alaska unfortunately.
Thank you!!
Thats vacuum sealing looks crazy.
I tried the clean meal plan for a few weeks. Half the meals are gross and I found myself forcing myself to eat it more often than not. I don’t know if the other meal plans are better because I just cancelled. Gonna try factor!!
Try us out too, Martin!
Same I’m trying fresh n lean vegan
How is this different from Lean Cuisine? I don't get it. Is it because they are delivered?
I think it’s because the meals are fresh instead of frozen
I was listening to the review, but you look fantastic with those glasses on.
How do i get the 40% off theres no discount code. Planning on buying today....
Hi! The code should automatically populate on the Trifecta website if you use the link in the description box :)
I gave them a shot, but was super underwhelmed with their food. It’s like the chef just throw a bunch of stuff in there and called it a meal, there was no eloquence; it basically looked like someone barfed in a tray.
Not to mention the low protein content per meal, I’m glad this was a gift. I couldn’t imagine spending money on this company absolutely gross.
They need to simplify their ingredients to like 3-4 things in meal, I don’t need a “clusterf*ck creole spice bowl.”
Don't do it. These meals are hot garbage. My wife and I ordered a few hundred dollars worth last week. Half of them were undercooked. Never again.
Fresh N Lean comes in the exact same packaging made by Cryovac. I just thought that was interesting as I'm watching your Trifecta review right now while I'm trying a week of Fresh N Lean. I'm trying the vegan and so far is "okay," I'd say. I don't find a review of that service on your channel.
Thanks for the comment! I haven’t tried out Fresh N Lean yet, but it’s on my list to review at some point! Really interesting that they use the same packaging (this is the first time I’ve seen it!). Too bad though the taste has only been okay so far.
@@MissSarahEK Is it too bad because you haven't seen it before? Where does that ego come from? When you have no knowledge about packaging and the environment, you can take a moment & do your own research instead of spreading misinformation.
@@VahidOnTheMove um...what? I was responding to BluePlastik's comment that they thought the Trifecta meals they tried were just "okay." And I said
"too bad the taste has only been okay so far"...meaning it's too bad they didn't have a better experience with the meals/taste....
Not sure how you interpret that as me having a big ego or spreading "misinformation"...? lol...
@@MissSarahEK ["a big ego or spreading "misinformation"...? lol..."], Well, you claimed something regarding their packaging and environment which is not backed up with anything or evidence. If this is not spreading misinformation, then what it is? Look at this channel as an example: ua-cam.com/video/qg0RmlutDsg/v-deo.html, and see how he provides accurate details...
Also, you ordered chicken and said you were not sure why they put chicken while you chose vegan as the main meal. Well, you get what you order, shouldn't you? and then you act in a way that they made a mistake.
So your comment was completely unrelated to the comment you responded to? That's a bit confusing...but ok.
In the video, I said I don't prefer plastic packaging for health and environmental reasons, but I said make your own decisions. I also cited information I found directly on the packaging company's website. I try to avoid single-use plastic, particularly if it's going to be touching my food for extended periods of time. I don't think this is controversial...
I watched the entire video you referenced, and I'm not really sure how this applies to my review. His evidence is mostly based on his own blood sugar monitoring and how he personally reacts to each food. He also makes a lot of health claims about each food item without citing any external scientific studies or "evidence." For example...he says "white rice is a 'dead food' and there is no nutrition" What is his evidence of that? White rice may not be the most healthy choice...but saying there is "no nutrition" seems way more like "misinformation" and an extreme statement than anything I said in my video.
I'm not sure how I would be able to even replicate his methods in the case of my discussion of the packaging? Eat the Trifecta food and then take a blood test to monitor micro-plastic residue? Follow the package to the landfill and see if the single use plastic end ups getting recycled? That doesn't seem realistic...
The goal of this video was to review my experience with this company...not to do a deep-dive into packaging science or it's impact on health. If that's what you are looking for, I recommend looking somewhere else or trying out Trifecta yourself and making your own in-depth review.
I also didn't order the chicken....so it's the opposite of "you get what you order." It was put in my order without me selecting it. I don't necessarily think this was a "mistake" on their part, but I think they should have been more thoughtful with their free add-on items and adjusted it to something vegetarian/vegan for people who ordered vegan/vegetarian plans.
Looks like the app is forcing you to do the subscription now.. I’m not doing that just to order the food.
I can't see any reason to prefer this over other services.
Have you tried Icon Meals? A coworker was eating one and thought of you! 😊
I haven’t tried them but I will definitely look into them! Thanks for the suggestion 😊
The affiliate link doesn't work
Thanks for letting me know! I'll take a look into the link.
You can now select your meals!
Ooh that’s great!
I was seeing if i could find some info about the subscriptions since i really wasnt ready to commit to more meals then when i checked i had been charged already for another week. So the user interface is not very intuitive at all. So far I can say im not too impressed with this service, I hate spicy food and have been getting stuck with several meals that are spicy also i thought id try this out since I am someone that is really into working out and had hoped it would help me take some of the guess work out of it. I don't like that trifecta doesn't give you much choice in terms of fitness, when most people think of fitness there's usually the mindset that weight loss is the only goal most have and I wanted to have the option to bulk up, or for example, I am currently focused on fat loss but want to retain the muscle I have put on so the calories in the meals are a bit low for me currently and i have to add extra snacks and things to keep me from losing to much.
Kinda crazy that they'd send chicken with a vegetarian meal plan. You'd think they'd realize that might be problematic.
I know right ?!
@Becs She knows what she ordered but tries to spread misleading information. Her comments on the containers, not being environmentally friendly are absurd.
@@VahidOnTheMove do you work for trifecta 🤣
@@tor4472 I'm their regular customer and am happy with their service and the quality of the meals. My point is just simply having thousands of subscribers does not mean she can spread misinformation...
Try us out next, Sarah!
Thank you for the review I am glad I watched it first. I'm skipping this company.
I've found that $14/meal before delivery is average
May I preface, I am a big fan of meal delivery services on multiple levels. The Trifecta experience was not pleasant and I agree with all the points the video made: taste, packaging, overall experience - all not worth the price.
First of all - the meals are not tasty at all - they are super bland and many with a slightly sour taste you would get when your meal is about to go bad. And my family and I have tried over a dozen. Most have ended up in the trash half eaten. They might be organic, healthy, and nutritionally balanced, but if I can't eat it, I can't derive any of the benefits.
The meals came shrink-wrapped in plastic trays, which is not very appetizing or seem to me like they really came from the most sustainable meal delivery service.
Subscriptions need to be canceled or weeks skipped over a week ahead of time, which for me is too far ahead to think about. And canceling a subscription means you actually have to talk to a human over the phone, or over chat to deal with email. You can't cancel or pause within your account which is just not right. If you make your customer jump through hoops to cancel the account, they will just hate you that much more. I finally got the time to call in and cancel the subscription 9hrs after the cutoff on Friday and got stuck with the entire shipment. Customer service wouldn't even give me an option to donate it somewhere or get a partial refund.
In addition, even though you are paying possibly hundreds of dollars a week for their meals, you still have to pay for the app subscription if you want the workout features.
I agree "cat food" in appearance is accurate. I personally said dog food and the taste didn't get better for me. I haven't been able to finish 1 meal and gave the rest to my doggo. I didn't cancel my order in time to get a refund on the next shipment so 🤷♀. For me , it's a no as well.
This might just be me. But looking at the meals they don't seem like something that would be all that hard to spend some time making at home for cheaper. They don't seem special to me. I'm not that great of a cook and my kitchen is terrible, but honestly cooking rice chicken some veggies isn't that hard. Save 100 bucks and make stuff yourself. I often don't feel like cooking so premade meals prep looks amazing to me, but I don't think this sort of thing is sustainable for most people
I cook everything, which is a good way to understand what you're eating for weight lost when you get meta. Also, managing cooking time is a apart of living a healthy life. It's just as important as showering.
Great review price is a turn off for sure lol. Going to sub😀
So glad to hear that 😊
14 dollars a meal for that?
Next.
Those meals look like crap at this point I'm driving to chiplote and pay 16$ for a fesh hot meal.
All these services seem great but too pricey for me.
It doesn’t look like there’s a lot for 16$ a meal
If you're just getting dinners, it's over $17 a meal when you factor in the shipping, and the average meal has under 500 calories.
Darn This company looked much better
Sounds like most people here are trying to nicely say they suck - wish I would have watched this before I ordered.
The food is pretty gross but I still eat it 😅
Trifecta taste like rest home food; lack of spices, pureed consistency even souping. Eat out for $120 per week. It's not for me.
Made a deal with my wife; she won't buy this stuff and I won't eat it.
🤣😭
If you have money and lazy to cook go for it
You're beautiful.
Tofu? Plant based chicken? Impossible burger? It looks like catfood because you are eating catfood. Really?
Lol I don’t think my cat would eat any of that 😹
Lots of negativity in this review. Hard to take it serious
Hmm…ok 🤷♀️
Lol, although you may mean that in a negative way. I think this video is a modern example of how using negativity to sell products is a resukt of growing skepticism. I came as a skeptic, after seeing the add, I think it's very clever, most people now look for negativity before positivity, which they should as scams are rampant, and quality matters when dealing with ordering food and your health.
I think her viewpoints were well done in a critical manner to sell the product, clever if this is a known tactic.
Her thumbnail, and title got her clicks, ppl look for negativity first lol.
I'd never buy, 🤣🤣🤣 I cook everything, I'm just curious to see if people like the food, since I used to look into meal services like this.
If You’re reading this, Jesus loves you and died for your sins. Repent because He’ll be coming back soon.
I'd rather burn in hellfire thank you
NO GOD NO MASTERS
What does this have to do with meal delivery?
@@marshanraub1708 Absolutely nothing, these holy Joe types are mental.
God is a fairytale.
Your using a microwave (RADIATION) 😳 yet your worrying about plastic that prevents bacteria from forming, and all of you use plastic containers I’m sure and to heat your food by using again the microwave 🤦🏻♀️ be thankful you can purchase decent food stop complaining .
I'm indeed very thankful I can purchase food for myself 🙏
I also cooked all of these meals on the stove or in the oven...so I'm not really sure what you are talking about. I try to avoid plastic food containers in general if I can.
This is a review, so the point is to share my honest thoughts and pros and cons that might be helpful for people considering purchasing meals from this company 🙂 (yes, that also includes sharing some negatives 😉).
Please review flex pro meals 😢
Thanks for the idea!
