When you just can't stop playing : Subnautica End Part 1

- This game just sucks you in, you just want to see what is around the next corner. What new resources you can find, what weird creatures you are going to encounter. This is part one of the last of Subnautica, sorry about the delay but I just could not stop playing.
Devs Discription:
Descend into the depths of an alien underwater world filled with wonder and peril. Craft equipment, pilot submarines and out-smart wildlife to explore lush coral reefs, volcanoes, cave systems, and more - all while trying to survive.

PDA: This species may be nearing extinction. The population may be in the single digits.
Francis: And I'm here to help.
I love how the game is specifically about scientific exploration and living in harmony with the planet and francis, in francis fashion, seeks to supplant the ecosystem and conquer it. He really is an Alterra employee
Nah, I call it the "basic human survival method"
First time seing a Ghost Leviathan egg - tries to stab it :)
@@ennou1236you def got what the game was about, it's about taking things without being given
13:30 The claw arms are the default arms, by removing whatever arm you have installed it will automatically go back to being a claw arm, hence why there is no option to produce them.
And they hit sooooo damn hard when they punch. Best DPS in the game, imo.
I like how you specified the shark as an "underwater shark". I believe most sharks fall into that category.
Lol
You're never know)
All except those "sharknado" sharks.
ha... you´ve never been in a sharknado while running from loan-sharks i guess!?
Somebody's clearly never heard of landsharks before.
Square Peg, Round Hole. The Francis John Subnautica Experience
But you're supposed to put everything in the square hole.
Theres just something special about some legendary dragon monster so apex that it eats leviathans for breakfast, living for thousands of years probably, and then some tiny ape-fish with a stun gun and pocket knife scratches it to death with 10 thousand little cuts
Game: This species is endangered
Francis: Let me get a different knife
"There seems to be no damage" says as he runs past the status screen riddled with warning signs.
Literally littered with warning signs haha
17:01 Whether it’s ONI or Subnautica, Francis loves walking around in Magma
*Previously on Subnautica*
(Enters fundamentally new area, with a new, dangerous levitation that can be avoided)
"I wonder how to Kill you.... Nevermind got it"
*Later*
(Sees the tree of life, showing that good still exists even before the greatest dangers. Symbiosis of the unlikeliest creatures)
"100 stabs didn't work, are they invincible?"
(Enters the lava zone, with it's own dangerous creatures and leviathan)
(Leviathan so big it's population is measured in single digits, may be nearing extinction)
"Welp chemical warfare and the Geneva checklist didn't seem to work, just going to stab until it doesn't move"
(Reevaluating the quarantine...)
Ps: the prawn "claw arm" isn't an arm like the others, just remove the others and you can get the claws, which harvest and punch things. This is one of the ways you're supposed to discover nickel (pick with suit in the acid river)
Also i am pretty sure you can repair the PRAWN from within the safe reaches of the cyclops, by going to the lower section of the ship
Afaik the "medkit fabricator" requires only power and can be built in the cyclops, i may be wrong but could be worth
The easy way to deal with the Sea Dragon is to set the Cyclops to Slow and Silent Running. Short of actually ramming him, he'll never notice you with those settings. Since you have the thermal generator and you're in the hot biome, you can use Silent Running forever without worrying about your battery.
Scary voice: Come here, to me
Francis: Some directions? Left, right?
I swear, you are truly one of a kind. Although, ecosystem probably is not grateful.
Scary? To me it never sounded that way, maybe mysterious or ghostly but not scary.
@@gabrieldeoliveira7725 Shush, I need to make Francis seem even more insane than the guy who killed a sea dragon leviathan with a knife.
@@wojciechkowalski7554 and without the heat resistant suit. You know, for that ticking clock pressure
ME
Well he did the zappy eventually so it's not all that bad, also he had near infinite usable power so it's not that big of a deal
same, that and when the Sea Dragon hit the cyclops and he just goes out to try to kill it I was like "FJ!! REPAIR THE SHIP!! THERE'S NO POINT IF YOU KILLED THE THING AND COME BACK TO A PILE OF SCRAP!!!"
I was looking at it thinking "Damn, this thing needs wipers!"
Wait, a knife is the only pointy weapon I get?
The knife is the only pointy weapon you'll need
"What the?" Francis's reaction to the Sea Dragon is classic.
At this point I'm convinced Francis will find some way to kill the [spoiler].
Well the [Spoiler] is needed for the ecosystem so I don't think he should be killing it
Fail state?
yeah, I'm thinking the same thing
@@skyeplays1772 Francis might find a way, hehehehehhehe
RIP Casper, the friendliest Ghost Leviathan.
RIP Kevin, too, but he's not as friendly.
"Welcome to this mystery planet."
"Neat. Show me the things I've not killed yet."
"Uh... don't you want to explore?"
"Sure, sure, but first, gimme that list."
I believe list of not explored things and not killed yet things is the same.
*Glares disapprovingly at your radiation suit.*
Medkit fabricator dose not drain power, so you can just make like 6 on a cyclops and have infinite supply.
Slashes the harmless robot with a knife. "Yeah, he's aggressive."
I've been bit by those things enough times to agree with FJ
Too bad you didn't make a reinforced dive suit. It helps survive the caustic temps.
"I just couldn't stop!" I love hearing that you're enjoying this so much, it's one of my absolute favorite exploration games!
Cyclopes maintenance bay module repairs the prawn suit when in the bay
If you want more medkits, just build a several medkit fabricators on the cyclops, them you'll have a bunch each time you collect them.
Mynocks chewing on the power cables
The claw arm for the prawn suit is the default arm. just remove the drill or grapple arm and the claw arm will be there.
54:10 "Let's bring her through that hole."
54:21 "Ugh, this feels tight."
The scanner room's map is directly orientated to the real world
"This species is nearing extinction"
Francis - "I'll build a knife just for it"
21:57 I like how the holographic display of the cyclops shows all the larve
Don't forget, the story mostly continues with the Subnautica Below Zero. I mean you've come this far.
But beware, if you play below zero because it's Subnautica 2, you're going to be disappointed. The game has a fundamental difference as it's a lot more focused on land and previously established areas
@@skyeplays1772 and also in that it's bad. :P
But if he keeps the PDAs notes from this game open, he can at least understand what, why, who, when and where things happen. To me it close the arc. The game is weak, but it's not that bad.
It's juust not on par with Subnautica.
it's generally considered a worse game
I mean it's your personal opinion that you were disappointed or consider it as a "worse" game I think it's a pretty good game with a good story hella fun. I don't agree with you at all. Embrace the differences and move on, nothing is perfect.
Certainly better than the Star Wars prequel.
20:00 the one blueprint that you miss is Cyclops upgrade that allow it to repair docked craft. That probably have something to do with huge holes in your scan network near the surface =P I mean, a ball have volume of 4/3 pi*R^3, and a cube have volume of 8*R^3. Almost half of space is left unscanned if you place your scanner balls like if you had scanner cubes.
Well due to how the game does blueprints, and the spacing of biomes. The scanners usually skip a few biomes (and their blueprints) and get about 10 redundant fragments. While it's not optimal, it works enough that he doesn't need to change it (also I think he completed the game already by now)
@@skyeplays1772 Not quite. I mean, he missing 3 recipes from surface bioms. That scanner setup gives an illusion of everything was discovered, and thats a problem. I personally dont think that scanner net is fun thing to do in a first place, it takes away excitement of discovery. But if one likes to do that, one probably should do that properly to fully benefit from it =)
Yeah, he probably did, but Below Zero exists too =)
Rather than doing the Subnautica equivalent of barnacle scrapping, you can quickly deal with a whole bunch of lava larvae by just temporarily turning off the cyclops engine. No power means they have no incentive to stay attached. But this is Francis we're talking about, he might want a more *permanent* solution.
You could also turn the shield on, that instantly tosses all of them off
He turns off the engine multiple times while infested; they linger. Do you mean pulling the power cells out or something? Pulsing the shield is the easiest way, regardless.
I love how to talk about not finding acid mushrooms immediately after you were talking around in tons of them.
Apparently those are actually Deep Shrooms, a relative of the acid mushroom used for a different material, so not useful. But yes it was funny to see him be oblivious to some kind of shrooms at the feet of his prawnsuit and then talk about how he had to take a trip to the surface to pickup shrooms.
Double episode can’t wait!
DOUBLE EPISODE?! Francis you truly bless us.
32:57 one pulse of the shield knocks em all off
I vote for renaming the prawn suit into Big Daddy, fits the playstyle.
Normal Explorers (Sent to alien planet) : Okay so we've made basic shelter and farms for you to try and eke out an existance!
FJ Launched at alien planet: Okay so i've killed everything hostile, auomated basically all work, and the levithans have been made to work the kiosk at the mini-mall.
You can use flank speed with the fire suppressor module. It's very power costly though, but not a problem with lots of replacement cells and convenient charging stations.
Ironically and well... quite logically, thermoblade does NO damage to lava lizards and Sea Dragon levie, so it's either DOUBLE lengthy slashing with normal blade OR grappling + drill combo. Latter is faster and fancier and fun =)
Not logically; it's still a sharp knife, so should damage them, if the non-thermoblade does, too.
So a lot of the gas pods you are using aren't effective because they aren't actually reaching the leviathan's hitbox. You kind of have to swim into their visual mesh to get close enough for the cloud to do damage. You should see them flinch if the cloud is close enough.
Awesome Francis!!
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
This series has been so great, can't believe it's coming to an end. Well done Francis, you've managed to make hour long videos entertaining from minute 1 to minute 60. Genuinely impressive stuff.
Who kills the sea dragon leviathans? They’re nearly extinct. Francis - One more down.
Watching this I realized the stasis gun must be removed from the game lol.
"I wish I had more time to kill everything..." I think this is my favorite line from the whole playthrough.
You know, the idea behind launching a decoy is that you *don't* have to fight the leviathan.
I wish I had more time to kill everything is so 100% the opposite of my play style for this game. I love it. It's very on brand Francis. Keep giving us more!
I also laid scanner rooms at cardinal points and collected all the scrap. I think most people watching this series won't realise just how much resource collecting you must have done.
26:50 I was afraid that was gonna happen. The normal knife works... the heated knife not so much on anything living in that heat.
The smell of smoke is probably the least issue in such a enclosed space, specially as weeks and months mount on. Also, that's a damn replicator, shoot it before it multiplies too much!
halfway through, and i'm afraid Francis doesn't realize his HEAT blade does 0 damage to lava creatures (lava shark and the big guys) a default blade however... but i'm just assuming he's going to waste a lot of time figuring out the knife has no effect , but i'm sure he'll find a different way , he always does
You somehow missed the reinforced diving suit. That's why the constant heat damage.
28:54 Those little charge suckers are the worst. Especially for me as i managed to miss thermal charger upgrade for the Cyclops the first time around.
if you want the prawns grabby hands back just take any hand attachments off.
I love this channel and everything you do but a double episode when I need to write an assignment, you're killing me here.
How can I not watch them both???
Francis if you kept going past where you killed the Ghost Leviathan you would come out of that Cave System entirely and for me personally is a faster way to and from the Lava Zone
Things games like this have taught me: I am actually a hoarder. Must have all of the things! Alien worlds expect me to be the first interstellar trash collector. The best is that even though I have a magic gun that can build things using just raw materials, I still must put effort into researching things like sharp pointy sticks or batteries.. Apparently the one in the magic gun can't be reproduced for reasons.
Someone correct me on this since I can't remember, but I believe you can repair vehicles from inside the cyclops if you go down a level into the vehicle bay. Other than that, there is a cyclops module that automatically repairs docked vehicles.
"We can't repair the PRAWN inside the ship." You know there's a module for the Cyclops that auto-repairs anything docked, right?
There is a fire supression upgrade. Break glass in case of fire.
I think you can go to the lower deck and repair the portable ship. THe ship has a control panel for all damage, fires, bugs outside. ect
"Damn I picked up the beacon again " skyrim players know that pain
You should remember to use the shield generator more often, it is good for temporarily protecting yourself and doesnt take a crazy amount of power
You can use the prawn suit to mine the ion cubes from the ion generators...
he did
@@d.6325 Yeah about 30 seconds after I posted this lol
45:30 finally found his first warp gate
The second video at the same day? On Friday? I mean I can take a glass of whiskey and it will become the best Friday for a while!
Thanks!)
16:00 i wonder when he figures out leeches...
17:00 it's a bug... but i think it's awsome :D (got one fish in my base, swim majesticly right in the middle of 4story-big-rooms-alien-container unit ;))
18:48 yea... that was also my reaction. twice :>
21:56 thats most validation i ever got on internet ;) even if not directly :P
30:28 normal prawn arm does more damage
31:26 aaand he figure it out :D
35:20 FJ - the ultimate predator that cause extinction of entire species ;)
43:45 damn, you're good at flying with PRAWN
hey you bring more, I watch more. That's the deal.
Francis is showing Florida Man how its done lol
Man, the "scan" icon popping up EVERY time he went to the pilots seat was driving me crazy
God and then the blue tablet, good lordt
Francis has more lockers in the Cyclops than anyone I've seen playing this game.
He might have a slight hoarding problem
Man the sound in this game is dope, especially the leviathans... personally i think they should have made them unkillable... that would have been even more terrifyiing... too bad below zero kinda disappointed in that aspect
Yeah, they got rid of the guy who did the great sound design for Subnautica because of politics and cancel culture, and you can tell by how terrible Below Zero's sound design is.
@@JohnSmith-eu2dt oh really didnt know that... yeah below zero its not a bad game by any means but its nowhere near the 1st one imo... hopefully well get a subnautica 3 one day...
@@TObserverT I loved Subnautica and I was deeply, deeply disappointed with Below Zero. Almost everything about it was worse, from story to level design to vehicles to sound design. Though I do believe they are working on Subnautica 3, I hope quality matters to them again over virtue signalling.
@@JohnSmith-eu2dt lets hope 100% agree btw... i still remember the heart attack my first reaper gave me...
love this this game
Y'know, I'm a little surprised you never made the Reinforced Suit so you didn't get toasted, or took note of the prompt in the lower right which directs you to scan stuff you haven't already gotten...
Take propolsion cannon and upgrade on the modification station to repolsion cannon. If reaper killed by 100 thermal knife hits it takes 15 ish detonating for killing a reaper and it only uses electricity
No damage, because I didn't even look at the damage readout that was lit up as I ran by.
@Francis John just remove the drillarme and see...
the idea is NOT to disturb the wild life, hehehehehhehehehehe
You can build a medkit maker instead of having to constantly farm for the fiber mesh.
Welcome to the Lava Zone!
Leviathan?? > That's not a knife, THIS is a knife...
Woot woot let's do this lol
"A fish swam past me and did no damage. I must spend 2 minutes chasing it with a drill so I can kill it for no reward at all!"
"A tree with harmless eggs. The miracle of life, a complex alien ecosystem. I must slash it 100 times with a searing blade!"
"A ghost leviathan! I have a button labelled 'silent running' that lets me drive my sub right past it, but instead I think I'll step outside and spend half an hour stabbing it to death!"
"A sea dragon! Possibly the last living example of the gigantic leviathan species mentioned in the alien documents about a cure for the infection, and studying it could be my only ticket out of this planet. I must try to kill it immediately!"
This is what playing Rimworld does to what was previously an almost sane human being.
Not gonna lie, team sea dragon here, lol.
Little short of nickel, you only need 13 pieces in total to manufacture everything in the game 🤣🤣
FJ, at this point you should just build a medkit maker and empty it regular to make a stock of merits, it’ll be cheaper than making medkits individually in the long run.
Wow I've never been this early before!
Francis, you already have the reinforced suit, you got it ages ago and never actually built it
Also nuclear is kinda meh in this game, each rod I believe gives 10k power but you have to deal with the waste material and you can't deconstruct the reactor with active rods or less the rods disappear
You know you don't have to waste your time killing the leviathans, if you just use the silent mode of the cyclops?^^
I got by the sea dragons without problems in my playthrough ;P
As mentioned by others, I'd recommend continuing with Below Zero right after finishing this one to have some sort of closure on story and series. It's shorter and more streamlined, can probably beat it in 3-4 episodes
Terrible game, not worth it at all.
@@JohnSmith-eu2dt Due to high expectations after first one. But on it's own, Below Zero is decent game. I've seen plenty of terrible games, Below Zero is far from one
@@serhio-3861 that's part of it, but it's really quite awful for a variety of it's reasons. It's just very dissatisfying to play
@@JohnSmith-eu2dt not sure about your experience, but I waited till full release before playing it. They had long early access stage that I just skipped. I experienced the plot as one playthrough and haven't encountered development bugs.
Game's not bad
for the love of randy, you could've just turn on silent running and just pass by the leviathans! 😢
Francis can't help but kil
13:30 - So... it didn't cross your mind to simply uninstall the propulsion cannon from the arm? 😄
Fine
Developers should have made the sea dragons invulnerable, seeing it die was a step too far in war crime FJisms
That's too inhumane, I'd rather have walled in joy torture psychic beacons
The kharaa bacterium can't kill you, it isn't time gated. Disease progression is action gated such as self scanning after picking up the relevant data entry from the collapsed disease research lab (i.e. data entry says you get green cysts; you do a self scan and get green cysts).
PS - Kharaa is named after the aliens from Unknown Worlds' previous mod/game, Natural Selection 1/2. NS1 is a Half-Life 1 total conversion mod, while NS2 is a standalone remake of their mod.
I really wished hed die to the sea dragon while trying to bomb it
