She basically has that already. A downside to Wanda I think everyone ignores is that she takes longer to heal in combat. Eating food heals you instantly but using her ageless watch needs time after the animation for the healing to take effect and if you get hit during it, bye bye healing. We've all had situations where we get hit right after eating perogies due to being trapped in the animation and mistiming what we thought was a safe time to eat but because the heal still takes effect we are generally not punished too hard for this. Wanda on the other hand straight up dies in the same situation. This, more so than the low HP when she's old, is why she's a glass cannon / requires more skill imo.
Also, normal characters can spam healing, Wanda cannot. and each ageless watch only heals effectively 20hp. I feel like people don't realize how bad her only healing option is when compared to the 20 perogies so many people enter boss fights with.

When everyone is competing to do amazing things like what DST has become it feels like the threats we face are complete jokes. Ive been watching your videos for a long time and never realized i wasnt subscribed. For the first time in my youtube history i was happy to be reminded / nudged. Thanks
sometimes it feels like dst players forget that the game is one of the hardest survival game. So yes, it is not that difficult for someone who knows the game to go to Ruins and collect thuelicte, but the point is that you are knowledgeable enough to say that collecting thuelicte is not difficult. Just because you are experienced with certain problems does not mean that those problems are easy anymore. In short, I don't think Wanda is a simple character. Someone who knows the game can easily play with any character, and Wanda is one of them. For a beginner, you need to think. It's just funny that you say it's easy to collect 24 thuelicte.
Funny cause she literally has the worst downside of a character. It’s so expensive to get more healing clocks and they each take up 1 spot in the inventory. They only give 8 time (20 health) which is pretty shit. Her upsides apart from the weapon seem more like quality of life stuff than actual strengths. Time isn’t really important once you’re done with year 1, so all she really does is make your trip to the pseudoscience station less of a hassle. And for what… Literally no way to heal outside of a clock?! Food buffs are op cause you can stack them and they can give tons of health while being ridiculously cheap so for a glass cannon character, it’s really bad that she can’t get these benefits. And now, her weapon. You have to constantly fight shadows over and over again to keep this thing running and yeah it’s good, but it’s not enough of a saving grace in my opinion. To deal good damage with it you need to be near 1 shot which is super dangerous while characters like Wolfgang and Warly can deal more damage than her while being able to spam healing items.
I swear this was my same issue.. It's kind of solved, if you have good latency and kiting skills, by putting on a mag or switching between a walking cane and her alarming clock for a hit and run approach. The other way is the shitty console lazy way which is to wear bone armor + a thucelite crown. This can easily handle a tier 3 spider den, even if you are flooded by warrior spiders. But just one T_T. If you really wanna bring the maximum damage and maximum defense then attack with a spicy volt goat jelly + garlic with dark armor + a thucelite crown. Even 8 spiders on you will barely tickle and without rain warrior spiders die in two hits with rain one (So satisfying). If you don't wanna character switch there are still a few more options. I'm talking about those spider set pieces with like 6+ tier 3 nests all near each other. One-man bands tank enough for you to whittle down the numbers quickly enough -- Pigmen, Bunnymen even Mermen can all be recruited. I usually opt for pigmen just because it's easiest and you just need to buy a few precious seconds to unleash Wanda's hellfire. You can also wear a spider-mask and start a spider genocide. Not as rewarding but definitely safer. And then my absolute favourite way (Probably because I've started to main Wormwood) is the napsack / sleepbomb method. Mobs inside the cloud will sleep for quite a long time. You can still attack and have range anyway. Not sure why this isn't used more often but it's fun and easy to dupe.
there is the argument that the whip is too strong cuz you dont have to fight things but her damage has been balanced around advancing thresholds, whenever she can instakill small mobs she can get instakilled too, she is "be a beast but if you mess up you are toast cuz her healing is inferior and more punishing than others in combat", yes an average player can just get wanda, use the three time piece to make 1 ageless watch, 1 becktreck and at BEST a darksword and never explore caves, which one could say makes her skill factor irrelevant, but so can i get winona, do a hound bunker, use trusty tape and never build anything hard but that doesnt make winona skill factor ireelevant, cuz what matters is why should i play a character i cant get the most out of? (no reason to play them, thats the answer). the whip cheeses get patched (like the klaus cheese), she cant be balanced like other character cuz she is too unique (just cuz you made an equation doesnt mean she had 150 health, she has 60 years to manipulate, that is the truth) and her downsides can be tempered so that only the BEST players can get the most of her damage and utility, and even after that she still doesnt make you play the game a way you dont want too, to make the most out of wanda you really have to have the skill of a tinkersmith time manipulator, its not being too strong its just good design.
That doesn't matter though when you attack enemies and they can't attack you. Most of the skill is removed. The few ranged enemies that exist are easy to prepare for ahead of time.
I started dont starve recently and my best run is with wanda, I am still alive and have killed dfly, eye of terror, Claus, guardian and seasonal bosses before summer. She doesn't take as much skill as people think because of her easily accessible healing and greater range and get out of jail free card. She feels easier to win with then Wendy which is considered a noob friendly character. But, she is the most fun I've had in my short time and still has less dps then wilfgang so she isn't really that broken.
The word "then" means "at that time" and is used to talk about when things will happen. The word "than" is used to compare things. Below are some examples of each: I ate breakfast and then I went to work. I'm taller than my sister.
Wanda's True downside is you can't just mindlessly tank things due to how her hp works, even using the backstep watch to simplify kiting takes some precision. Her downsides only mater if your bad at the game, and her upsides are easer to access and abuse when your good at the game and know what your doing. If anything nerfing the crafting recipe of the revival watch could work, or locking the alarming clock behind an ancient pseudoscience station, to force Wanda to go to the ruins for her damage clock could work, though the latter just increases her barrier to entry skill floor.
i think the ppl that say shes op are ppl that dont spend much time on random public servers, where most ppl arent watching streamers and know all the tricks. id say that 70% of people online cant solo deerclops, and dont even run caves cause theyre playing on an "off the shelf" computer. if a character requires rushing into the ruins (or archives) and mid game gear (like red gems, and even marble which is pretty limited unless you actively farm it), then theyre not op, because you have to have skill to utilize the character effectively. wanda was a gift from klei to experienced players, because experienced players are the only ones that ever get close to late game content. and if youre capable of going into late game content early on, you deserve wandas benefits, like fast traveling, consistent high dps, easier kiting. you even need consistent nightmare fuel to keep using the alarming clock. and long-time players see that as no big deal, but to those 70% that cant solo deerclops, wanda is a challenge character to them
She's definitely not for amateurs and beginners. Once you maser her back step watch, you become almost a god in the game, nothing can hit you, absolutely nothing. I can fight any boss, except bee queen with her minions, without taking a single hit, adding the fact of being 6 5 years old or above. I can melt any mob, any creature, nothing can touch me, I become the bodyguard of everyone at the ruins when it comes to defeating an entire wave of crawling horrors and terror beaks.
if she were to get a nerf honest I would just say make it to where 1 ageless watch only cancels out aging or only gives an extra year per use. You need 2 to start actively healing which means it will take slightly longer to get the whip and people who have a hard time not getting hit will have a harder time getting to the point of whip plus nightmare armor. However I agree in that it's fine to have a stupidly strong character in a game so long as they are hard to use and manage, and isn't bottlenecking balance for other aspects of the game. Like lets say Wanda only lost 1 year per day and the ageless watch still gave the same amount and because of this everyone is playing her. Which now mean klei starts making the bosses harder for all of the Wanda players but now it's almost impossible for Wilson to compete instead of the obvious solution of just make her age more. That would be an issue and Wanda would need to be nerfed asap.
I would nerf her whip. Keep the range, but take away the damage. This includes the character's ability of "older = more damage". I'd probably also keep her "wormholes", but take away the solo-teleportation ability. That way she's nerfed down to normal levels, instead of being a Wolfgang-Walter-Wortox OP hybrid.
@@VG-fk6nkthat's just killing a lot of the character and playstyle You need a purple gem for every teleport making them ludicrously expensive and kinda just not worth using a lot of the time You take her entire glass cannon playstyle away, making her less engaging and punishing. Lowering the whip's damage on top of that which removes any point of using the whip compared to smth like a dark sword tbh. It's a very low or non-existent reward for engaging with the character's mechanics that makes playing them just kinda not worth it compared to anyone else except for her 2nd chance watches in multiplayer.
@@bubbleeater7192 I routinely play to world day 500 and beyond, purple gems might as well be cheap candy at that point. And that's without me focusing on gathering them, and just kind of occasionally picking them up as I cross the ruins. Her range + damage + teleport short distance back means she literally never gets hit, while dealing the highest amount of damage. In other words, she's Wolfgang but on steroids, completely annihilating any reason to play Wolf. Again: better damage than him + way more utility. The only character more busted than Wanda is Wicker, but at least she doesn't make 2 separate characters obsolete. Shit needs a rework.
@@VG-fk6nkfor 1: at day 500 you have an overabundance of literally anything and that's .1% of worlds. If you take into account day 500 as the primary reason to make the watch change then why even make it since you have so many? Along with this, Wolfgang is miles more comfortable to play and set up than Wanda is. Wolfgang can even decide to equip a marble suit and become basically unkillable combined with the ability of having... a normal health bar which lets him chugs tons of healing in case things do get dangerous. With Wanda you have to take a sizable risk to achieve maximum dps, forced to be at 37.5 health at best which even with something like nightmare armor, is a dangerous amount of health to be at. Her healing is much clunkier to get off compared to other survivors and is more limited in how it can be used (especially since you have to be at 73 age to retain old age status when using an ageless.) iirc Wolfgang also has better damage potential than Wanda, especially when taking into account planar defense since Wanda's clock can't do planar damage. Wanda doesn't end up overshadowing Wolfgang on account of being a much safer, easier to use option with a (slightly) higher damage ceiling who also has an answer to planar defense thanks to his skill tree. Wanda doesn't overshadow Wortox on account of Wortox's teleport being not only cheap, but having no effective cool down or limit as to where you can go so long as you have the souls and have the location in your map And idek where the Walter hybrid part comes into play Another thing about Wanda that really sucks with her is inventory management. You're always gonna be carrying nightmare fuel, alarming clock 2 agelesses minimum (unless you believe you just won't take damage ever) a back trek watch to go to base, a 2nd chance watch and probably a back step watch too. Which is 6-9 inventory slots just being used on clocks. Maybe 5 if you opt for only 1 ageless. Is this to imply she's not broken? No she's busted as hell. Is this to say she doesn't completely overshadow other units and that you probably shouldn't dramatically nerf 3 parts of her kit all at once for funsies? Yep.
Wolfgang is OP, not Wanda. Wolfgang literally has everything, faster chopping,. faster mining, most health, most hunger, most damage and for what? Just sitting there pumping weights and more sanity loss? At least Wanda can die if ur not good/fast enough/ unlucky.

@@VG-fk6nk You really want a serious answer? Ok. Wes is artificially difficulty. It's not difficult. It's not the true difficulty that many would want, it's a fake one. The only expection of the expections is his malus of hounds aggroing more on him. You can achieve the Wes experience just by playing as Wilson and imposing on you handicaps like "I can only eat under 75 hunger" "I can only heal under 50 hp" "I play blindfolded" ecc.... It's only tedious and long. Wes is a joke, in every sense. A pity I'll tell you. I would like a hard character. But wait! There is! The true hardest character is Warly. Try and start a run with him to the end. You'll die like a noob a lot of times at the start, it was really really fun for me. Sure you can kinda cheat him with the combination of meatballs and meaty stew. But playing with him from the start, plus other 4 friends, it doesn't cover you that much. And if you play like me, I don't play with the usual dishes. It's not easy at all. That's true difficulty. Not linked by numbers, but by mechanics and design. It change your playstyle, force you out your comfort zone and even obtain some bonus by it, because Warly is pretty good in terms of power. Wormwood it's the same, but more more tamed. For me it was a breeze for my giant experience (I don't want to boost my ego or what, it's because many state Wormwood is a challenge character when it's not) in contrast to the usual player with pierogies, jellybeans, dark sword and ham bat. That's it. I wrote that message because Wes IS a joke, not because I'm that kinda of """"veteran""""" or person "I'm too good, git gud scrub skill izzues" as you thought.
@@supermilordo5153 Alright, fair enough. Thank you for taking the time to answer. For my own 2 cents on the matter: When I played Warly, I found him less challenging, and more plain annoying. His difficulty curve is right at the start of the game. He can't heal off of Butterflies alone, so early fights like for gears need to be taken seriously. Mid-to-Late game, as you say, he plays off the combo of Meatballs-Meaty stew, and a couple of other easy dishes. At boss fights, he also has to take the extra care of bringing not just Perogies, but: Perogies, HoneyHam, Dragonpie. Which... I don't know, I find that annoying. I have to go out of my way, and waste my time, farming Dragonfruits and getting Honey, and then have to fill 3 inventory slots , instead of the usual 1 (only Perogies). And the good things he brings to the table are underwhelming. "Mine faster" - OK, but I already mine fast with pigs... "More damage" - OK, but I already can deal a lot as Wolfgang... Difference of opinion, I suppose. Wes does less damage, on top of everything, don't forget. Making his fights longer. Meaning he needs more armor, weapons and healing. That's also factored in to the Difficulty curve, not just what you said. Idk if I should talk about Wormwood, this is long enough as is. But those are my thoughts.
Personally I think Wanda would be balanced if she couldn’t craft time pieces. This would mean the player has to decide between mobility, health, or damage, similarly to WX.
I know how late I am but this would be horrible. You would have to increase the amount of time pieces or decrease the price. If you couldn't craft time pieces there would be no need for getting down to caves
@@minionek247 Because there isn't unique gems, unique materials, unique boss rewards, generally useful materials, a cheap infinitely renewable light source, summer protection, ect. There would be absolutely there need to go down to the caves.
@@Buglin_Burger7878 That's not my point though. Should have been a bit more clear. Yes ruins etc are very good reasons to go down there. But you will get no benefit to the character herself. It would be like WX but having all his recipes at the start. There needs to be SOME reason to go there early other than ruins rushing like currently there is. It just makes no sense to limit the amount of time pieces. The character is hard to start playing as but rewarding. Being WX 2.0 doesn't give that

To deal good damage with it you need to be near 1 shot which is super dangerous while characters like Wolfgang and Warly can deal more damage than her while being able to spam healing items.
my biggest issues with wanda is
i cant beat horde of spiders at old age lmao 😂
Who aside of Wendy and Webber can kill a hord of spiders?
i think wendy@@jx5b
there is the argument that the whip is too strong cuz you dont have to fight things but her damage has been balanced around advancing thresholds, whenever she can instakill small mobs she can get instakilled too, she is "be a beast but if you mess up you are toast cuz her healing is inferior and more punishing than others in combat", yes an average player can just get wanda, use the three time piece to make 1 ageless watch, 1 becktreck and at BEST a darksword and never explore caves, which one could say makes her skill factor irrelevant, but so can i get winona, do a hound bunker, use trusty tape and never build anything hard but that doesnt make winona skill factor ireelevant, cuz what matters is why should i play a character i cant get the most out of?
Below are some examples of each:
I ate breakfast and then I went to work.
If anything nerfing the crafting recipe of the revival watch could work, or locking the alarming clock behind an ancient pseudoscience station, to force Wanda to go to the ruins for her damage clock could work, though the latter just increases her barrier to entry skill floor.
i think the ppl that say shes op are ppl that dont spend much time on random public servers, where most ppl arent watching streamers and know all the tricks. id say that 70% of people online cant solo deerclops, and dont even run caves cause theyre playing on an "off the shelf" computer. if a character requires rushing into the ruins (or archives) and mid game gear (like red gems, and even marble which is pretty limited unless you actively farm it), then theyre not op, because you have to have skill to utilize the character effectively. wanda was a gift from klei to experienced players, because experienced players are the only ones that ever get close to late game content. and if youre capable of going into late game content early on, you deserve wandas benefits, like fast traveling, consistent high dps, easier kiting. you even need consistent nightmare fuel to keep using the alarming clock. and long-time players see that as no big deal, but to those 70% that cant solo deerclops, wanda is a challenge character to them
Actually the second chance watch can break when used by others it has to be on the floor for that
She's definitely not for amateurs and beginners.

@@thewitchidolsachika6682 Eh i guess you're right
Shes ok, just a top tier character.
what mod do you use for fov scaling?
I think it's called aerial view
if she were to get a nerf honest I would just say make it to where 1 ageless watch only cancels out aging or only gives an extra year per use.
@@VG-fk6nk L take
@@VG-fk6nkthat's just killing a lot of the character and playstyle
You need a purple gem for every teleport making them ludicrously expensive and kinda just not worth using a lot of the time
You take her entire glass cannon playstyle away, making her less engaging and punishing.
Wanda doesn't overshadow Wortox on account of Wortox's teleport being not only cheap, but having no effective cool down or limit as to where you can go so long as you have the souls and have the location in your map
And idek where the Walter hybrid part comes into play
Another thing about Wanda that really sucks with her is inventory management.
Yep.

The Jack of all trades character. She is ok. If you want the biggest challenge, play Wes.
Wes biggest challenge rofl 🤣🤣
The biggest challenge is actually playing Maxwell without complaining about not having a rework
@@supermilordo5153 I get the troll position of: "I'm so good that saying anything is a "challenge" or is "hard" is laughable to me, again because I'm soooo good." - But putting that aside for a minute: Which character is more challenging than Wes? And why?
Certain, not cer-en. “T”s exist.
no doubt shes busted but shes still super fun

Personally I think Wanda would be balanced if she couldn’t craft time pieces. This would mean the player has to decide between mobility, health, or damage, similarly to WX.
If that were the case Wanda would need to be able to heal from food or ageless watches would need to not cost timepieces.
